Ferguson On The Run - You Couldn't Make It Up

Tuesday, 22 July 08, 12:28 AM · Comments (49)

This has got to be a wind up. Ooh my days...

Now pay attention, because this is comedy gold and you don't want to miss anything.

Carrying on from the recent piece on Sir Alex Ferguson's alleged public discussion of Manchester United purchasing the services of Dimitar Berbatov there has been a new and amusing development.

The Norwegians have obviously been on the receiving end of the Highland Hairdryer to which end  they have soiled themselves and promptly, er... several days later, issued a full scale apology.

But you have to believe the excuse. The quote that would stand to sink the Old Trafford Supremo was,  "We may have made a bid for Berbatov, and we have good hopes to buy him.  He has impressed for a long time..."

But Lars Morten Olsen, the reporter who wrote the piece, after being screamed at by the Old Trafford Mafia and threatened with unimaginable allsorts, has now retracted his quotes.

He has just remembered that despite being the only journalist interviewing Sir Alex at the time, the room they were in was a bit noisey and it was difficult to hear what was actually said.

"That takes the sting out of the Tottenham appeal" said Steinar Madsen, webmaster of the Scandanavian Supporters Club, sporting a new pair of trousers and liberally spraying air freshner around his office.

Well Steinar, I don't know about the sting, but that certainly takes the biscuit.

Out of balance, I will add that the same article goes on to alledge that Manchester United have a 'tape' of the interview and believe it contains nothing of any great concern to them. This allegation carries a link to The Manchester Evening News website. Which at this time contains zero reference to any such tape.

And another thing. I Harry Hotspur hereby offer Sir Alex an amnesty. Immunity from all prosecuction civil and criminal. If he can answer me this.

Who were you talking about then?

We are waiting.

BIOYC!

But first we have to find a referee who will award a penalty against them at home or card a player for simulation.
Sorry too much sun and ouzo.

Although this is all mildly entertaining, we all know that nothing is going to happen - the PL wont take any serious action against Manu (unles there is much more compelling evidence than the above) and Manu wont sue us because it would be a huge embarassing waste of money - if Barca dont make a sensible offer its still in our interest to sell him to Manu at 28 million rather than keep him sulking (Ramos wont put up with that crap) or losing value because he is able to buy himself out of his contract in a year or two, so it will get dropped. I see Redknapp is up to his tricks again with regard to Kaboul - how is he allowed to talk about other clubs players and what they are worth (and other clubs that mght want to sign them) so freely? It seems that he wants to sign Kaboul while getting away with paying less than anyone else by unsettling him and flattering his huge ego.
Of far greater importance, can we please have some more photos of that marvellous pair of russian strikers form last night? I'd like to see them in their training kit or going through their stretching routines.

In a court of law, the retraction above would be considered another material evidence and a simple cross examination would lead to the truth.

End of the day, Daniel Levy is the Director of the business, he wouldn't put himself (as a director) or put Spurs in a position that lead to embrassment. Which makes me believe that they have alot more information that is currently being presented. Best thing is to Higher the prices for these players - Simple. I'm a big believer in if they don't want to wear the shirt then let them go, but if Man Utd are making Ronaldo stay with them.. Then why don't we do the same.. Ramos won't let them go until we have cover, that's why there starting to contact some of the best stickers in Europe... In Levy and Ramos i trust.. Can't understand why after all the additions - they would want to leave now ??? COYS SpursStevo

In a way I want Keane to hurry up and leave so he can tell us exactly what the fucks going on. I hope its cos he wants champs league before he's too old and not a reflection on ramos. Ramos did sub him alot didn't he.

The more I think about it, 20 Million for Keane, considering his age is very, very good business. The only problem is that he's my favourite player and I fucking love him

Do you think Levy's counter might be he was hiding with Aaron Lennon under a table in the room, this could well be in the dossier.

I'm a bit worried. Surely AF has submitted his offer for Berba, which we have rejected out of hand, but AF isn't going to come back with a better offer. He is just going to wait until the last day of the transfer window which then leaves us with a problem. Reject any further offers from ManU and we have a player that is going to sulk even more until the Jan window opens. If we accept their offer it doesn't leave us enough time to get in a replacement, and if we do, they won't have trained with the squad.

Ditto for Keane although I think Keane will stay with us because (a) L'pool can't afford him and (b) I wonder if he might have had a change of heart/clear the air talks with JR after seeing he played in the friendly on Sat night.

What Ferguson did or did not say is one issue -the personal attack aspect that Ferguson was supposed to be considering suing for. However, I understand that the real evidence for the case against Man Utd is about behind the scenes tapping up and contact to Berbatov which breaks the rules. That is what would get them in trouble - quotes he made wouldn't do anything. Just look at Redknapp, still spouting the names of his targets loudly even after all this...

Morning,

Don't know who it was but someone on here came up with a good idea for the berbatov / keano transfer saga.

Keane and Berba want to play in the champs league. Fair enough. So do Spurs. Our aspirations are matched. Why don't spurs strike a gentlemans agreement with the two and explain that if Spurs do reach the champs league at the end of this coming season that the both of them will get their moves to other champs league qualified teams.

This should ensure that both Berba and Keano play their nuts off for us and also perhaps focus their minds on doing well for spurs as their futures are directly linked to our success. Besides, who's to say that if we do qualify for champs league that the two of them may want to stay at spurs.

HH any news on the 4 players to sunderland?? I think we are both of the same thinking when i say i'm gutted to see steed amongst the 4 names mentioned! On the other hand cant wait to see how Roy Keane will deal with the master of disaster that is Pascal Chimbonda!!

I am not too happy on the whole Keane sage but I reckon there is more to it. Keane was the main man under Jol. With Ramos, he was regularly subbed and you get the feeling that they did not get along.

Levy learn't a lesson with the Carrick deal and he's not gonna make the same mistake with Berbatov. Levy is going to ensure he get's the maximum out of Utd, he's monitered everything that's gone on with ManU and Berbs over the year and is not going to let this go. When Fergie said this will be 'embarassing for Spurs' I think he was only refering to his last comments, after finding out about the dossier I bet he's racking his brains regarding everything he's said in the past year. I just hope the Premier League (or FA) have the balls to do something about it should the dossier be as damning as I'd hope.

...actually, thinking about this some more. Levy could just be playing the same tactic as with Arnesen. i.e. ManU stump up the required ÂŁ30m or maybe a player+cash in exchange and we'll drop the complaint to the Premier League?

Just a thought.....

Whoever came up with that idea is retarded.

How would this be managed in Lollypop Land? Do we drug them or use handguns?

On the Gang of Four I understand not all of them made it to Roy Keane's parlour.

Like i said, someone mentioned it on here in one of the previous comments list.

Personally i'm settled on berba leaving, if he deosn't want to be a part of what we are doing at spurs then let him go. He can take that prick Dantchev with him too.

Keano, I thought was a better man than Berba. Thought he loved Spurs and all his interviews & statements seemed to back that up. I expected better of Robbie and would be sad to see him leave.

I think he was being serious. He did say it was a good idea. I assume he hadn't considered the possibility they wouldn't try their bollocks off (no change for Berbatov then) and then fuck off after another failed year. No. The time for change is now.

Thats what gets me, Keane is the ultimate badge-kisser, giving it the loyalty speech whenever possible, then as soon as Benitez flashes his chin-hamster at him, he's painting his room red and putting Liverpool sheets on the bed. Hopefully they deduct 15 points and we beat them to 4th. Karma is a bitch and Keane is going to get bitten.

There's no guarantee that Pool will get champs league football anyways. They still have to qualify. Besides, due to qualification wont they have to register their team for the champs league soon??

I think ur right PLN Keano's apparent betrayal hurts because we thought he was one of us! It appears that he likes the spanish waiters set up more though.

All it takes os for liverpool to lose torres for a month or so to injury and they could be out of the running for champs league places. I genuinely believe by Sept 1st Spurs will have a stronger all round squad than Liverpool.

Benitez better be prerpared for one hell of a battle this season!

There is no way back for either keane or berbatov now. they are gone. worst case scenario is for the liverplop bid to fall through or be pulled, because only meeester fawwlty is goingto pay 15m+ for Keane.

Unless...i have just had a thought...what if we agree to win the champions league in 2 years time if they promise to stay? And if we dint win either that or the World Cup they can leave with our best wishes? maybe we could even tempt them by offering them regular 'money' in the thousands of pounds if they try hard?

The sad thing is I cant watch the Cup Final now for at least 10 years because i cant bear to see that floppy haired tit and his pet troll in fake 'proud of the shirt' displays.

I dont think u should let their impending transfers stop you from watching the cup final!

Remember, those players were part of a lucky few that were considered good enough to play for Tottenham Hotspur. A bunch of players who had the fortune to step out onto the wembley turf with the lilywhite shirt on their backs and the proud cockerel on their chest.

So what if Berba and Keano leave?

They will look back on the decision to leave spurs and regret it.

But the story went that Liverpool made an illegal approach to Robbie, he informed the management of this approach and told them that he was interested but would be happy to stay at Spurs if they did not want to sell.

I am quite willing to believe that if Robbie is sold it is because we are prepared to cash in on him.

I think the reason the guy is getting stick is because he hasn't come out and signalled his intentions. Poyet was linked with the asst job at Man Utd and came out and said he was staying at Spurs.

Keano needs to do the same. I think alot of Spurs fans are upset and confused about his proposed transfer as his comments and statements about Spurs recently have been glowing, full of praise and him reiterating his desire to remain a Spurs player.

Wether or not the board are telling him to keep schtum is another matter. I'm sure we will find out in the not too distant future. IMO keano needs to release a statement or do an interview and at least have some kind of dialogue that the fans can see.

Rather than anybody telling him to keep schtum it is more likely that it is a very difficult decision for him to make and Robbie has asked the club to make it for him.
