Gunter On The New Squad

Tuesday, 02 September 08, 05:06 PM · Comments (244)

This is an interesting and equally importantly a more positive read so I wholesaled it off Spurs Odious for you all. A comment was left by 'ari gold' who was fortunate enough to meet up with Chris Gunter and here's the quotes...

Particularly pleasing to read the goalkeeper comments. No one likes a witch hunt but there was clearly as much up with Robbo as met the eye.

We need need players like Gomes. As was pointed out earlier, in the tunnel at Second Hand Fridge he knew everyone. A real character. Then went out there and made our performance. BIOYC.

Now, enjoy...

"OK, Gunter did a presser (sic) yesterday for nationals in England and the Welsh regionals...

Wales see him as centre back long term. Spurs categorically do not and he always trains as a right-back and is often paired in training exercises with Hutton, which I thought seemed rather sensible.

Goalkeepers, he politely told me that the players were very unhappy with this situation last season. Robbo's confidence had gone completely.
He thinks Gomes is the best goalkeeper he's ever seen. Apparently he's been phenomenal in training and the players already f**king love him.
His English is excellent and he's replaced Keano as chief prankster.
Ramos picks and drops people sometimes entirely based on their performances in training. Apparently the intensity is very high and Gus organises most things.

Everyone accepts the situation with Ledley King. He is treated with great reverance by the players and that was even the case with Berbatov and Keane.
Yes there was a bust-up in training with Berba - but he wouldn't say who with. Gunter had no problems with Berbatov and says he acted very professionally in training right up to deadline day and the players never bothered to talk to him about him not wanting to play. They just got on with it.

Roman Pavlyuchenko speaks very little English and had an interpreter with him when he was introduced to the players on Friday. As he also doesn't speak Spanish, I presume the interpreter will be kept on.
Bale and Gunter are very close, but Gunter is closest to his new lodger, Aaron Ramsay. Spurs were never in for Ramsay, despite Gunter telling him to join us anyway. Gunter and Ramsay split the chores.
Robbie Keane thinks Gareth Bale will be the best player in the world. Seriously.
Bale did a big selling job on Spurs to Gunter in January, Everton also wanted him.
A lot of the younger players are really happy we've signed Frazier Campbell.
John Bostock is equal in skill and technique to any senior player.
Modric has replaced Berbatov as most gifted player in the squad in training.
Everyone loves Gio.
Lennon and Bentley are really good mates.
He didn't know Pav couldn't play in Europe.
My biggest revelation was going to be that the players were told we'd be signing another striker
yesterday. But Spurs have rather stolen my thunder!
I believe the striker to be Huntelaar, from the clues he dropped today and from someone else I spoke to today."

Coz Pav played for Spartak in qualifiers like Corluka played for Man.C in qualifiers.

But Im sure sometime after the Jan window when the Comps get to Quarters I think payers can play...... I think. The same rule applies in Champs League, so if we can get to the late stages were cool..... Pav can take us all the way.

I will guarentee now, next season, if not this Pav will finish top scorer in league, this guy is clinical, Like a Russian Ruud Van Nistle-GOAL.
So guys be patient with him.
He's proved what he can do @ the highest level so far.
Who in the England team wouldve got 3 gaols in the Euro's...... against(The Dutch)(No,not from the film lol) and Spain?
Exactly.

P.S. I think the Hunts signing is true and DC (on the signings round up on Spurs OS was talking about a striker that @ the last min he couldnt sign, but wouldnt say who, but I think he was trying to say it was Van Basten & Bergkamp that were tellin HUNTS to stay till Jan or the end of season.
But the mad thing is we'd agreed the amount and the terms with the club and Hunts.......

Tottenham's loan signing of Fraizer Campbell is not with a view to a permanent move.

Manchester United chief executive David Gill claims the club want the England Under-21 attacker to return to Old Trafford next summer to compete for a first-team spot.

The European champions rejected a ÂŁ7 million bid from Hull City and other clubs were sniffing around the promising forward before Spurs insisted on his capture as part of the deal that took Dimitar Berbatov to United.

Sir Alex Ferguson is an admirer of the 20-year-old who will compete with Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko for a starting spot at White Hart Lane.

"We clearly rate Fraizer and he's a well sought-after young striker," said Gill to MUTV.

"We did receive offers to buy him but we didn't want to do that.

"We believe, and Alex believes, that he has a great future.

The fact is he's on loan at a great club like Tottenham, he'll get exposure in The Premier League and come back a better player and hopefully force his way into the team here.

"It's good for him and good for us."

Im so pi**ed off at reading this, why take him, if we havent agreed a fee? this completely baffles me! We develop him (he will get games only 3 strikers + pav cant play in europe). So he will play, i do believe he will score goals, so why take him to give him back to Utd as a better player!!

To me why did we let Peckhart go out out on loan, like I would rather have someone here for the long term and devlop them rather than a developing some1 for a year then for them to leave!!

Is it just me that thinks Bostock could possibly do a job up front, pace skillfull, full of energy etc??

So I don't need to send you a photo id and prove my Spurs-ness to have access to a bunch of people claiming we will sign 3 players on the deadline when we actually sign none. The ITK's on your site are a disgrace, I'll point mainly at Ben and Dan Ashcroft who have a new siging announced almost daily but they never come off. In summation, f*ck off you bell end. We all support Spurs, and visiting this or any other Spurs website doesn't make you more or less of a fan, now do one you generically named c*ck-smoker.

It's your moronic twelve-year-old regulars I fell sorry for, the way you string them along and encourage the belief that you're actually someone important with info about the mighty Tottenham. Morning all,

First things first, have the morons at Spurs Odyssey ever heard of the freedom of information act? Or considered that we have freedom of speach in this country. Does it really matter who reads what and where they read it? Are you offended because people dont visit your site? We are the 'lowliest type'? What??? By that I'm assuming that everyone who reads the content of Spurs Odious must take shits that smells of roses!! Anyways.... i think you Paul Smith (and your many guises, cos lets face it all your 'buddies' on here are you signing in with different names!) should get over it and gett back to reading the 'approved content' on your wonderful Spurs Odious.

Moving swiftly on......... As some of you have probably guessed, I'm a big fan of Chris Gunter and I think that we have a genuine gem of a player, even though he's a little rough around the edges at the moment. As said in the article, Gunter plays at CB for Wales but Ramos sees him as a RB. This is a good thing as it shows that he's obviously versatile and with a little more coaching and experience he'll be adept at playing CB & RB this will obviously be a great benefit to the squad. The article is indeed a good insight into what goes on inside the squad and its definitely a ray of sunshine on what has been a bad 48hours for Spurs.

Especially liked the bits about Gomes, Modric, Gio and Keano thinking Bale will be the best player in the world!! THAT MADE ME SMILE!! And worth remembering that Daniel Levy (yes the Daniel Levy that everyone slagged off yesterday) fought of Fergie to bring Bale to Spurs.

Well after a cathartic spew of venom towards our 'obviously heavenly' spurs odious friends and a bit of geeing up by young Gunter's words, I'm set up for a day of work and loving Spurs (i do the second bit every minute of every day anyways!)

They were both Ukrainians (spelling?) Rebrov was small in a very physical league and was in a gash team with no support from midfield etc.

Shevchenko was good but relied on his pace (which he left in Milan 1st time round) as such Chavs got the shell of a player.

Pav is a more typical British type CF in that he's big, strong, pacy and has played the lone striker against Terry / Ferdinand and did well.

Think positive thoughts!

Paul, is the solution that simple? Can you not stick a copyright notice on it and if harry does it again, sue him? If its original material and copied word for word and passed off as his own original work then there are the grounds you need. If not, then thank harry for sharing the Spurs Odyssey content I would not have seen otherwise - 10 years standing or not.

If yours is a grievance based on this blog having a greater(?) readership or something, then I would suggest that you address your marketing department. After all 10 years is an awful long time to get it right - yet I'd guarantee that a lot of Spurs fans will never have heard of you before. Sorry.

Before anyone accuses me of being a lackey, I'm not particularly a fan of 'HarryHotspur' as a person, tbh I don't know him or anyone else on here from Adam, but what I do appreciate is the well written, clever comments and such from some of those posting on here and on occasion HH himself. I just think that criticising someone else's readership is not the best way to attract them to you. Perhaps you should overhaul your marketing/pr team as Ramos has done with his playing squad?

I'd rather field Christopher Hawkins (without his chair!) at CB than see Dawson line up in defence anytime soon!

I'm with you re Gunter, I think he looks a proper player. Watched play for Wales at CB and thought he looked the best player on the park. I seem to remember seeing somewhere he plays both full back positions and CB which gives excellent versatility.
Then again I was a fan of Dawson's for his first 18 months or so!

general matters:

1. Think like Berbatov: Even I did not like his
transfer at all, you must admit, every
players dream are CL, and silverware. That
he knows he will get with MancU and not for
sure with us, and we also now, players and
agents are like hookers, so nothing are
never sure. I could not in my wildest dream
predict Robbie Keanes move, could you???
This is actually a very good example how
football are.
2. Think positiv for our club:
Levy did a fantastic job, and I do believe
they hoped Berba would stay, but thats all
history now, so forget it, and think a head.
We have got a team with great potential, and
the terrible mistakes from last year, should
be history.'
Strong goalkeeper
Good defence
Great midfield
Resonable strikers
Personally I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SE A ROBINHO
OR RONANDILHO ON OUR TEAM ALSO, BUT I believe
with a great coach as Ramos, team will settle
and create results, thats what we all want, sokeep up the spirit, and lets look forward.

Well said.

There is no breach of copyright as well Smithy knows.

He's just sore because he desperately wants to be king of the information castle. Simple as that. He doesn't want everyone to know what he gets told or his kudos would vapourize.

Which as was pointed out on here before is both a bit desperate and a bit needy.

He calls it stealing when I do it, yet is happy for the exact same material to be reproduced by every other forum from here to Honk Kong without complaint.

What is hilarious is he's now declared a state of emergency on his Private Members Forum.

Clown.

hartlane2k - I was one of those yesterday morning that first thought it was a bad deal and then wish a spot of wishful thinking, hoped that there would surely be some clauses and its just a matter of time before he's announced as a permanent makeweight in the deal.

Southhampton was asked to take Pecker on because they have an excellent coaching set up. Its the reason why they have developed players like Baler and why clubs keep going there to see who else they've developed. A year on the south coast and a taste of 1st team football will do him a world of good. And on his return, he'll be mentally a lot tougher and assured. After all the toughest lesson at that age is getting to know ones self. Jamie O'Hara developed much faster out of the competition poor reserves. the only thing better is if he would have gone to a Premier League club, but we obviously had no offers or they weren't deemed good enough.

As for the Fraizer Campbell thing. I am disgusted at the thought Manure will now benefit from him getting more first team opportunities, and to also learn from the better coaching staff we have , however if as the above article states, alot of the young lads are glad to have him in - lets hope its for footballing reason - then lets make hay while the sun shines. IH he's that good, it might be like if the opportunity to take Van Nistelroy on loan for a year before he transfered to Manure (not while he was injured obviously), or Ian Wr*ght when he won the cup at Palace before becoming a goonsummer. I am disappointed that the Hunter or other isn't here instead, but we should still be good enough to get up with/keep up with the leading pack on our return from the international break.

If anyone hasnt read it there's a very good newsnow article (dail m*il 08.19) - it seems very plausible and if I were Damien C I'd be feeling the pressure right now. We have to accept that at the mo we cant compete financially with a few clubs (or arent prepared to take Leeds style risks) so have to rely on tactics, organisation and team spirit - we did that very well against chelski and have a great manager and assistant; and judging by Chris G's comments the atmosphere in the squad should be vastly improved now - fingers crossed!

If there ends up with 4 teams who can all pay top dollar that would be funny people throwing ÂŁ1bn at teams and still winning f*ck all (Citeh?)

The problem with these new 'plastic clubs' is that they are living on a knife edge. It only takes a terrorist attack in Dubai to shft Citeh's new investors, or for the credit crunch to hit Liverpools duo of yankee's investors. The only club that has endless money is Chelsea and thats because Roman has so many investements and the Russian president on his side. If 'world events' change then all these new clubs that rely on commoditites etc will lose their money and the investment will dry up.

For example, Liverpool's new stadium has been cancelled/delayed due to the economic situation in America. We may not like it but Levy and ENIC run our club like a business that means in the long run we will never run the risk that these new plastic clubs are running.

Its ironic that your still on here even though Spurs f*uckin Odious is in your opinion sooooooo f*ckin brilliant. Ironic or not F*ck off!

Bit I didn't claim that, did I. I do claim though that if it wasn't for Spurs Odyssey you wouldn't have much to read here, would you?

Still, I suppose if I closed the message board, yer man would only nick more stuff from elsewhere

I bet you're loving having the HarryHotspur visitors Paul. Its probably the most action your site has seen in its entire '10 illustrious years!'

Now, if your site is so brilliant, stop posting on here and get back to chatting to your minions.

Apologies if this post was too well constructed for you. Would you like me to remove all the punctuation and throw in a few mispellings for you? That might help you understand it.

The blurb about ari's chat with Gunter was not 'an article' but just another comment left by a reader and clearly acknowledged as coming from Odious and never passed off as my own work.

Paul Smith, I think you need to tell your "members" that claiming to be more of a fan because of where they read their info on the net is as idiotic as it is short-sighted. It does your site no justice and makes your site seem more of a clique that it already seems.

Right on Ginge, I'm a big fan of his already myself. Anyone know whether he has developed as good a relationship with the fans behind the goal as he was supposed to have done with those at PSV? When Robbo left, I was worried we'd get just another professional, but he's obviously that and more if boy Gunters comments are true.

I'm really impressed with Gomes too. I think that after Robbo we really needed a strong character in goal. Gomes appears to have the character and the ability to match it. Its walways been said that you have to be made of special stuff to be a keeper. Gomes appears to be the man for the job!

That Gunter article has kept me smiling. The more I read the more optimistic I am becoming. Gunter appears to be a level-headed guy and I think we are very fortunate to have him in the sqaud.

If they are accusing you of stealing an original article you need to take it seriously as the Broadband connection in the Scrubs is often down and there they take more from you than the odd slipper.

StuperTottenham (sic) Can you reference where HH doesn't give credit to Odious? In every article that is procured credit is given. It works fine for me because I dont like the attitude of the site there and I don't want to have to prove how "Spurs" I am before accessing the same info I can get here. Its kinda like Newsnow with a bullsh*t filter here. HH reads and passes on what he thinks we wanna read, fairly simple really.

The issue here is that Harry Monk is stealing info and passing it off as his own work. Over at Spurs Odyssey all sources are credited and copyrights acknowledged because it's the RIGHT THING TO DO - clearly something that doesn't mean much here.

Leaving aside the insults, there's a proper issue here. This info is taken from a messageboard, not the main site. The board is relatively private, i.e. there are some access restrictions, so people who post there are presumably seeking that privacy. Your site is open to everyone, and does not respect the privacy of that poster. Not only that, what if the info could be traced back to him by, say, his employer? I assume the guy is a journo. Consequences? Again, he didn't intend to publish this in the public domain.

Paul - thats the whole point. I tried to follow Harry's link to see what all the fuss was about and was immediately met with locked door.

If you want people to know about your good work (I don't mean the borrowed stuff I hear you post now and again) you really should question this approach for spreading info to Spurs fans and not just a cliquey little club you want all for yourself. By the way, from an aesthetic point of you, the gateway to your site is repellant - surely you know some people that can help you with web design, its so simple these days you know.

Mr Smith,

The issue of Ledder's health? I am amazed you've got the front to resurrect that one.

You were complicit in attempting a cover up on that one with your Supporter's Trust gang and the quotes from you on the Spurs List confirm that.

Harry

Thankyou for breaking the monotonous (will Paul Smith know what that means?) backchat and squabbling that has afflicted the blog this morning.

I like how you've gone out on a limb with that one! 'in that exact order' no less!

I'm optimistic but not as much as you! I'm thinking 2-1 to us. I can see Pavyluchenko (note the spelling Paul) grabbing the winner in the second half. Instantly making him a Spurs hero!

I think the Villa game is very important to us. We need to build on the second half performance against Chavski. Villa don't have a physical midfield and this IMO should benefit Modric and J2S. It will all come down to how we cope with Young and Agbonlahor on their wings. Woody or King should be able to isolate Carew and therefore disrupt their gameplan (if Carew can't hold up the ball / win the ball up-front) Agbonlahor and Young don't have someone to feed from.

Spurs isn't an exclusive club where information is privy to only those who comply with rules and subscribe to certain sites. It's a Football and Athletic club of great stature grateful for ALL fans whether they are in the Park Lane singing all game or at home watching Sky Sports News in Germany looking for the scores. Ours is a unique family and the likes of Paul Smith and Odious only serve to poison and destroy us, lets sell them to Man U.

If my mother were to open a HH whore house then im sure it would get more visitors than the web site you seem to support perhaps you should stick to looking at the disney web site or something similar as you may find that a more interesting and educational read .. by the way Mickey is the one that looks like a mouse if you get stuck for names.... :D

Now I aint an expert in these matters and being from oop north I aint the sharpest tool in the box but even i can figure out that If you want to keep a story secret and away from the mass hordes DONT PUBLISH IT ON THE F****NG INTERNET cos people might end up reading it!!!

Bale against Agbonlahor will be an interesting match up! Villa look solid at the back and i think Pav may start.

I have painstakingly read through all the posts on here and think there are a few things to clear up. 1) First line of the article says it's from SO. 2) Copyright? A water-tight defence for any jury to ponder. 3) Sensitive information? So sensitive that you put it on the internet to be read by anyone who fills out a membership form? 4) Go to SO to read info first hand? Why do that when I can get it amusingly summarised by HH as well as read the often hilarious comments of the people that visit this blog to go along with it. Seriously, there are some funny c**ts on here. Fact is this is popular due to its accessibility. Since the SO crew (as opposed to the HH massive... word) are so willing to cast aspersions over our allegiances, perhaps THEY would be best advised to take their no-so clever prose, and suggest SO update their rather inaccessible, 'no girls allowed', boys den-attitude of a website and see their popularity grow. Until then, do one.

I *heart* Gomes. Can't wait for his next chin-up session in the Park Lane goal.

Don't want the Odious ones to feel exclusively defiled, so Ive stolen this from THFCLatest2, good stuff:

WHY BERBATOV IS DUNG - THFCLATEST2 SPEAKS OUT
Three major reasons I’m glad that the most over-rated striker of our generation has left our beloved club.
For months I’ve read gurning and moaning from fans that we don’t want him to leave. That he’s irreplaceable. That he’s going to be the finishing piece in Sir Alex Ferguson’s and Manchester United’s puzzle………Unless Fergie’s building a jigsaw of useless, greasy, Eastern-European slackers, I don’t see this being true.
Let’s look at the facts:
1. Current comparison – last season, he had our third best goals-to-minutes ratio. Behind Defoe (every 162mins) and Keane(169), the useless Bulgar lumbered in with a goal every 188mins. Pathetic.
1(i) Even more shocking, if you take out that freak Reading game (6-4), his TRUE goals to minutes ratio was one goal every 223 minutes. Our lowest at the club. One every 2 and a half games!? WTF? If anyone else had done that, we’d be calling for heads.
2. Early comparison – If we take into account his first 20 games for THFC, his record is worse than Steffen Iversen and Ronnie Rosenthal.
3. Overall comparison – his strike rate in the League Cup (which is the competition we concentrate on) is lower than Chris Armstrong’s. Fail.
To look at this in mathematical terms:
Defoe> Keane> Chris Armstrong> Ronnie Rosenthal = Steffen Iversen> Dimitar Berbatov
In conclusion, Berbagol? Berbashit more like.
Don’t come back you smelly, greasy, sullen cunt.

I think Pav could be a bit of a talisman this season. I just get the feeling that there's alot to come from him. Ramos seems to think he'll be an amazing signing.

I feel (and hope the same), if we give him the support and stay behind him, help him settle etc etc i think the lad will be dynamite.

The only glimpses i have seen of him were at the Euros and against England in the quals where he got 2 of course.

What particularly impressed me at the Euros was his movement, he was a bit wasteful in front of goal but i feel that anyone who can ghost into position so effortlessly as him will do well. He looks athletic too which of course is a modern day necessity, he may need to go on the same weights routine as Berbatov did when he joined but thats all part of the process.

Ive never seen a lone striker create as much space for himself as he did during the Euros, I was really impressed. My only regret is that Arshavin hasnt quite made it to N17 yet so they could give us some of the scintilating link up they displayed in the summer. A New school Keane & Berba if you like.

On top of all that he appears to be a dedicated and hardworking player who certainly played the Euros with a smile on his face.

A fans favourite in the making i hope!

Добро пожаловать Roman.

Ever the optimist, I'm calling on a 2-0 win. Pav & Supa Luka.

Can't wait til Modric settles in. I saw enough in the Sunderland game to suggest he's going to be awesome, so long as he's not deployed in front of the back 4. Not as effective against Chelsea but sure I saw smoke coming off his boots by the end of the game. He was everywhere. I think Modric's second half performance against Chelsea was great. He really was tireless in the middle of the park and despit his small stature he can also get involved (apart from when the dog terry clotheslined him!)

I think that he's more useful in an advanced midfield role. It gives him a chance to use his passing in a more offensive manner. Its going to be tought to find a partner for him though because JJ is now vice-captain and that makes it hard to drop him.

No seriously you're assessment of him IMO is spot on. The fact that he has a great goalscoring record at every level he has played at really shows that he can be relied upon in front of goal. His movement is indeed fantastic and if we can get Modric, Bentley & Gio can start getting passes to him and playing him into positions I feel he'll become a bit of a goal machine.

Think Gunter deserves another crack at RB. He didn't put a foot wrong against Chavski and In his previous 1st team appearances he's looked comfortable. Even against UTD in the FA cup. AND the bonus is he can play CB too!

As ginge said though, Corluka is a good player in his own right. I cant see him dislodging Hutton at RB but I wouldn't be surprised to see him play CDM when Hutton is fit again.

So in summary..... Gunter - RB, CB, LB + Corluka - RB, CB, CDM = Dawson picking bench splinters out of his lanky arse!

Happy days!! =D

Jamie - don't mean to be anal about this but isn't it PavLYuchenko? Pavel(m)/Pavla(f) (~pavl) is a Russian first name meaning Little. And Chenko is a Belarussian/Ukranian name suffix. So Pavl to Yuchenko is a bit like Oscar/Smith/Thom is to son, and a bit like Paul Smith is to Tedious B*stard? ;)

As for the Villa game, here's their line up against PSB's new boys:
Brad Friedel
Luke Young (subbed 64 by James Milner)
Martin Laursen
Curtis Davies
Nicky Shorey (subbed 79 by Craig Gardner)
Nigel Reo-Coker
Stiliyan Petrov
Gareth Barry
Ashley Young
John Carew
Gabriel Agbonlahor

Subs :
Bradley Guzan
Wayne Routledge
Marlon Harewood
Moustapha Salifou
Zat Knight

Looking at that line up, I would agree that as their most dangerous player is Ashley Young, we'll probably mainly use the pacy tenaciousness of Zokora to marshall him. We've got much better height and shape in our backline so we should more easily manage their aerial threat and no way will Laursen score again! they've got a lot of pace in their squad down the wings, and if we can stop this, we should be able to simply pass through Barry ReoCoco and Petrov.

I'd quite like a similar line up to the game against Chelski - defensively balanced with a great counter. After all, we are playing away and they will expect us to attack from the off. I can see us tough just bombing forward from the start and scoring an early goal with Pav coming on in the 2nd half to further consolidate our lead. I'd go for a 0-1 at halves, and then 0-2 with all the press proclaiming how good our new signings are and how they knew we'd be contenders after all.

Gunter's comments being relevant to this thread, here are some more stolen ones, this time from The Sun, see you in court with Smithy, Murdoch, go on sue me you ****ing megalomaniac. (found the * button at last H)

TOTTENHAM youngster Chris Gunter reckons the club can still be a force in the Premier League this season, despite selling Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United.
The former Cardiff ace, 19, insists the North Londoners have enough quality to cope with the loss of the Bulgarian international after he joined the Red Devils in a ÂŁ30.75m deadline day deal.

Gunter said: "We will be able to cope without Dimitar and I don't think his move has affected the squad.

"If anyone needed any proof of that it was Sunday's draw at Chelsea."

As part of the Berbatov sale, United striker Frazier Campbell, 20, has moved to White Hart Lane on a season-long loan deal, and Gunter reckons the former Hull frontman will prove to be a hit.

He added: "I've seen Frazier Campbell playing for Hull and I think he has done well and will be a useful addition to the squad.

"With Frazier coming in and the confidence we gained from Sunday, we will be looking to kick on after we come back from the international weekend."

I'd controvertially stick Jamie O on the left mid. He'd help marshall the side swapping of Young and Agbonlawhore, adding a bit more steel to a relatively an otherwise lightweight trio of Bale/Luka/other.

Also, Juande clearly rates OHara's deliveries - noting that the one who took the crosses after Bentley got taken off was Jamie. A less defensive line up would see Corluka/Jenas dropped and Pav stuck up next to Bent for the crosses to come pinging in.

Examples being Ledley's health and now this Gunter item"

Paul, there are several things wrong with this statement. Are you ready to find them? Let's begin.

i) This is not, and I would say there has never been material posted on this, or your, site that I would consider sensitive.

ii) Fanfare and accolade were attributed in equal portion not once but twice by identifying pedantry.com and ari gold specifically.

iii) You really do come across as quite the nose wrinkling pedant. It's quite disappointing to know that you and I could be sat next to each other in the terraces. I daresay if I encountered you resplendent in Spurs colours being done in by a couple of gooners, I would have quite the quandary on my hands.

Can anyone tell me what an ITK actually is? I mean, as I understand it, 'ITK' means 'In the Know'. But what exactly does 'In the Know' mean?

I assume that all clubs have an 'In the Know' department which deals with the official release and dissemination of information. Any information that reaches the public domain prior to being released through officially designated means must, in some way, be a breach of copyright; or a breach of confidence; or a breach of scheduled and expected outcomes. And the agents responsible will not be considered exemplary.

Does a club informally correspond with and release information to agreed agents outside the 'official' media - the ITKs? If so, for what reason? Is this some method of appeasement, to ensure that the natives don't get restless (those natives, that is, deemed higher up the food-chain), and start openly questioning club policy on, for example, a (usually club-friendly) website? (Other websites that challenge the status quo, but deemed lower down the food-chain, would simply be discredited - a common tactic in politics and intelligence. As is spamming, by the way.).

If I talk to a Spurs player and then reveal the contents of the conversation, am I not then in breach of a confidence? That is, of course, unless the player specifically told me his comments weren't confidential - although, even if he did, why would I publish them, without the club official sanction? To do so could be detrimental to the player and to those he speaks of. And is the act not - if not a breach of copyright or confidence - a breach of common decency?

I mean, where do you draw the line over these things? Where is the 'ownership'? And surely all ITKs, unless official agents of the club, are stealing information and committing an infringement of some sort? If ITKs are an informal sub-division of a club, how does that account for the vastly contradictory claims they make?

My point is, I fail to see the point.

Nunchucks. By Paul's mention of sensitive, I read it as referencing the nature of their readers/clique members - no one would surely believe that a load of gossip and tosh would be considered sensitive in either business terms nor as personally sensitive information.

That's why this site is so good. We can be completely honest without having to reveal all our details, and it is why I believe that Harry's is a truer exchange of information and views than anything where you have to send a recent photo, cv etc etc before they consider you being allowed to join. In my book it's much better to identify the truth of a man by his honest words and actions, than by a set of required 'credentials'.

9_37. I understand that ITK is a self appointed badge that some give to themselves when they are/have been associated with the club
or someone with links to the club
or someone who knows someone with links to the club
or someone completely in a world of their own where knowing some gossip that someone else doesn't know means you have a level of one-upmanship on the other person who is not in-the-know.

Petty little playground stuff as far as I am concerned unless you actually happen to be best mates/related to the players/coaches/management and are privy to actual business sensitive issues. Hence if I knew Mr Alexander and he told me sensitive stuff before the markets did, then my release of this information would be considered immoral and potentially explosive depending on the nature of the info.

For any Spurs Odious supporters still on here, as Captain Mabbsey and others have said, this is why we come here. I catch up with a few tidbits of the latest information/gossip, hear what other clever feckers have to say about it and every so often I am overawed by the quality of writing, reference levels, and humour. Don't deny that when you do come on - you are more than a bit jealous that your lot don't have as much fun. Try it properly sometime and not just slag it off. No chance. the spammers are in the fast lane on the road to nowhere. If it was a racehorse, it might've been put down by now. You've got to feel sorry for Curbishley - he thought he finally had a good job being a fan and all, but the icelanders have obviously run out of cash and had to sell players to keep the business afloat. Rather than take the stick for this (he wasn't given much credit for the turning over blackburn 4-1) he called it a day. Fair play to him. Keegan should do the same - their clubs obviously need a manager without any ambition - which immediately rules out our Gus.

The Gunter thing isn't written up as an article, it was a post from one of the members of the message board sharing what he has heard in order to create a discussion on said message board.
If it's only information that you are after then I suppose your right about not having to sign up for a message board to get it if you ignore the ethical issue of the person posting having the right not to have his info/opinion duplicated on a public forum without consent and that is your decision to make. I just can't understand some of the criticism's of the message board on here, I have been a member of the message board for years and can tell you that everyone's opinion is as valid as any other on there and there are no cliques on there at all, the only real rule is 'no personal abuse' which is for the good of the board as it means every thread doesn't just descend into a slagfest that is dull to read through for everyone else, in short it is just a good place to go and chat about the games and everything Spurs so why all the unfair criticism? Oh and the Spurs Odious thing from some people is just plain childish after all as people have said on here we are all Spurs fans.

Fair enough Steve, to start, I also think the odious thing is a bit juvenile. Not a fan, which is why i've just abbreviated to SO. I would say that if the fella posted up what he heard onto an internet forum, he probably won't be losing too much sleep about others getting wind of it and discussing it away from the SO site without his explicit consent. I certainly don't think it is either a moral issue on HH's part or an ethical issue of duplicating info without prior permission. It's just talk.

I have nothing against SO, but a few of it's representatives and have made absolute twats of themselves today. Yourself excluded as you've at least made your point sensibly without calling people w**kers. I just prefer the layout of this blog and there are some very funny posts a lot of the time, so hope you'll forgive me logging in to HH for the forseeable future.

Thanks for the reply, I guess we will have to have to agree to disagree on the ethical thing as personally it would annoy me if someone took comments that I had made within a discussion and posted them on a public domain (not always completely accurately) without asking me first (not that it would ever happen as I am certainly not in any way 'ITK')
I understand what you mean by the name calling but its not just coming from the SO members and many SO members are angry at the Spurs Odious comments and general slagging from HH over recent times, I am not defending it but just saying that in my experience the people who have posted such comments do not usually use name calling to get their point across and are certainly not "twats" and so were perhaps provoked a little bit.
I am not trying to influence you on where you get your Spurs news and chat mate and if you prefer this site then who am I to tell you that you're wrong, I was just making a point about some of the unfair criticisms on this thread made towards SO.
All the best mate

I've been bored enough by the continual moaning about who we didn't buy and now after a full day of abstinence I come back to the site to see that the Spurs Odder C boys are still bleating on.

If they hate this site so much why spend so much time on it ?

And get real, if you put info on the web ANYONE CAN NICK IT.

If the US Government can't stop people hacking in what chance do a tiny little football fan site have?

And get...

What was amusing was the post on there asking all members to come on here and say 'Harry You Big Child Catching Child Catcher.'

In total I was forced to delete 6 (six) comments that were a bit mean and one bloke stopped on for a bit and was very reasonable. Had a chat with one of the lads and went off fine.

Rather put me in mind of the Great SO T Shirt Sale where they had a thread where about 100 people said,"Ooooh yes, put me down for seventeen, I get paid of a Thursday and I don't care if the wife kills me, your sooo good to us 'umble types Mr Paul, I think watchin' me nippers starve is a minor incon if it were to mean I could buy one of yer naff T Shirts"

The c*nt was back on a week later bleating he'd done up all these rags and only had ÂŁ40 in.

They are rubbish.

Thankfully there's only about a dozen of them.

The rest of the 'membership' only log on to read Archibald.

Sean, please pass on my apologies. I did not see a personal address on there. If I had I would've removed it at once.

I would imagine MOST people didn't 'see' the address either and anyway the thing was very positive.

Deleted anyway.
