Bully's Star Prizes this week leave many Tottenham fans reeling and not just at the thought of taking a newly won speedboat back to their second floor flat in Wolverhampton.
In One.

Emile Heskey. As big as a caravan but with fewer amenities. If Mido only ever did one thing for us, it was staying at Boro. A fine hold up player but not blessed with Keane's inventiveness - he'd have never come up with the he was a boyhood Liverpool fan story. Stalwart. Plodder.
In Two.

Dean Ashton. Deany. Deano. The D Man. Tinted oaf. Curbishley was and I quote, "Absolutely gutted" to leave West Ham. One reason and there were twenty seven was the Chairman's desire to flog their star striker to us. How much is that pikey in the window? A horrific Iro £16 million (ono) would've secured the services of this plank. N17 would have been polluted with the smell of Fahrenheit Pour Homme and burning season tickets.
In Three.

Micheal Owen. Little boy lost. Two wild rumours doing the rounds include that he is currently being subjected to an enforced wage cut and that his agent has taken a box. At White Hart Lane. Will he leave Toon? Would he join us? Would he score goals? The simple answer is possibly. He is desperate to reclaim form of old and time is against him. More of an out and out Keane replacement I could not invent.
HH
Any chance you can find that interview with J2S and put a transcript up??
I wouldn't of wanted any of the three mentioned above. Owen perhaps, his injury record is quite ominous but his goalscoring record for the 'car'toon is quite impressive when fit. Maybe in January we can nip in with a cheeky bid of say £6m-£8m?? With his contract running down and the turmoil at St James' then they would more than likely look at selling.
I hope you haven't copied any of this of the Spurs Odious site? Although judging by the lasck of spelling mistakes & the correct syntax structure, I doubt Paul Smith wrote the original.
Interesting Story (I know its from the mail) but would you really want to work for a boss that forced you to go somewhere? Maybe Fraizer will end up at Spurs after all.

I'd be happy with Owen for £6m... and for the record, I quite like Ashton. He was on his way to becoming a real class act before that ankle business and he might just be in the way back. £16m is well over the odds though.
Who's responsible for the eleventh hour cock up?
Comolli? I hope he's shown the door.
Why do people not like Dean Ashton, apart from his injury list, this boy is excellent, he would have been fantastic alongside Benty/Pav/GDS/FC all those players posses pace and Ashton would have been the perfect partner for them, would have definately liked him at WHL!!!

he's not bad, but when you have a strike partnership leave netting 50 mil in revenue, you'd expect the director of football to aim higher and deliver more quality ffs.

I agree with you on that, but I'm really dissapointed that we waited until the last few hours to try and secure another striker, I am thankfull that we didn't end up signing cole, doyle or heskey, that would have been the ultimate embarrasment!
Comolli's days must be numbered, surely. Levy took charge of the Berbatov debacle purely so DC could set about finding and securing a replacement - do his job, in other words - and he failed
Still we're in better shape mentally now and the more I think about Corluka the more I like our chances. He's going to be a vital cog in the machine filling in for Hutton/King/Woodgate as and when the injuries strike. I wish we had a game tomorrow so we can get all this gloom out of our system. As it is we have to watch England roll over Andorra in a disappointing 2-0 win and listen to John Terry tell everyone how we'll win the World Cup as a result
These three would be worse than useless to us-and would have been proof positive of our lack of ambition. We've made good quality signings-includin Campbell-and got an excellent return for Keane and Berbatov. Yes we'll miss them, but life goes on.
We'll have more money to spend in Jan, and I for one am glad that we kept our money in the bank rather than spend it on these plonkers.
I'm liking the sound of our Russian assasin Mr Pavlyuchenko>>>
"I can't really say much about Berbatov leaving. Let him go and then I'll play. It's good for me."
Good for us too Pav! Cant wait to see him star against the Villa.
Lets not keep fretting about the Window. Yeah, it wasn't good but its closed now. We can't do anything about it. We are left with overall, a stronger squad than this time last year. Lets get behind the lads and push on with the season.
"You can't beat a bit o' Bully!" It's such a shame that that's all that seems to be coming out of the THFC spin department at the moment; Comolli bemoaning those nasty ol' agents for ruining his Monday? Always good to have a pantomime villain to hang your excuses on. "Let's have a look at what you could have have won." someone to inspire a touch more enthusiasm than training up a future Man U starlet for return back oop North. "I'm afraid you've been Bully'd' out" - MOOOOOO!
COMOLLI LAST CHANCE
Dear Mr Comolli
Following your futile efforts to bring in a striker to compliment Pavlova and Benty we (the board) have been gettin pelters from JGM and his chums, so much so that they are calling for my head.
I refuse to carry the can and you know i insisted on 4 strikers IF that greasy haired bulgarian fuc*wit goes to Manure. What the hell happened?
Anyways, i think we all know Mr Comolli that we live for the now so i task you this and expect a result by the time we play Aston Villa;
Scour Europe; Neigh, The Fuc*ing world for Out of Contract strikers (try that fat bloke in sth america or that aged swede, no not sven you cnut) or see if it is financially viable for Spurs to buy out their contract via some underhand deal...............basically Mr Comolli we need one more striker...............off you go......oh wait wait, dont forget; he cannot be cup tied (you muppet)
End of the day this is all hot air and we have to look at what we have at the moment. I think this team could achieve Europe and it would take some consistent over performing for us to get top4. But looking at the team we are set to take europe by storm and we have to be one of the favourites for UEFA Cup. We will struggle in the league as we still dont have that midfield enforcer but I think if we can mould Huddlestone and Zokora into a DM partnership then we maybe wouldn't need to buy anyone. What does the rest of you think this squad is capable of?
I like Ashton & Owen and think they both could have added something. The problem is their injury record as someone mentioned before. As such its not worth paying decent money but if you could get either for £5-6m I would go for it, I think there's more chance with Owen as he's out of contract soon. Maybe we could get him in Jan on a pay as you play deal (or heavily based on appearence money & goals type salary).
Right off to a wedding just a few hundred yards from Rooney's house. With any luck i'll see that Bulgarian c*ck house hunting and run him down!
ps Ossie (aka Fickle Oz) must be back at school now.
I dont understand why we aren't trying to bring in Stephen Appiah. He has to be the best player available on a free transfer at this moment in time.
Reply to Magoolio:
I would have been more than happy with Owen! The bloke is a born goal scorer and is world class.
I could not agree more. Moreover, we would probably have got him on a cut-price deal because Newcastle wanted to get him off their wage bill (at least at a certain point in time) and he only has 1 year left on his contract. However, I doubt that he'd have come to us because he is reportedly on something like 120k a week and we reportedly only pay a maximum of about 60k a week, maybe we could have increased this to 80k for him but would be take a 40k a week wage cut to join us?
The important question is: if we are taking a player on loan from those bastards: why the FUCK do we not have an option to buy him? It may not be Commolli's fault that we could not get Garcia or anyone else (although I still hope he gets sacked) but what was the harm, at that late hour when ManUtd were obviously desperate to buy Berba, on insisting on inserting a buy-out clause of, say, 4-5m? Worst-case scenario was that he would be crap and we would not exercise the option; best-case scenario would be that he'd blossom at WHL and we'd have a bargain on our hands. THIS is where Commolli has really fucked up beyond doubt.
Hi HH,
Long time reader and first time posting on here. Yes, the signings could have been much worse. The club has spent a lot of money this summer, but we never seem to be content. I miss Robbie but I do think that without him and Berba we will play more like a unit, as I thought we did against Chelski. And regarding replacing the goal rate, we could win more games if we let in less goals too. We scored a lot last year, but we shipped way too many. I do wish we had a midfield general, and I wonder why we play Jenas, but let's get behind this team and let's stop moaning.

Here Here toddspur!
Perhaps would add the following:
"PS: After which kindly take your muppet Gooner ass and f*ck right off"
Lets be honest with ourselves. The only deal that would have kept people happy was the Arshavin deal. It did not happen. Throwing money at it would have clearly helped. For all the hype over the Berby deal, the thing that made it happen was Man Utd upping their bid by £10m (£20m original to £30.25 final). W did not do that with Arshavin. For that alone, serious questions need to be asked as to the lack of foresight of the Commolli / Levy / Ramos of the need to bring someone else in.
Commolli was relying upon Garcia / Milito as back up. The logical thing would have been to bring one or other of those in early last week (like we did with Pavlychenko). They were not particularly expensive and would have done a job. It did not happen because we did not want them enough and they knew that if Spurs were buying Arshavin and Pavly that they would be well down the pecking order.
That gave us the last minute run around. Levy and co faced with a stark position having messed up on the other three deals (Arsh, Mili and Garcia). Too late to bring in a foreigner and very few options to pick from.
Contary to rumours, Spurs clearly did not go for Doyle - Nick Hammond has said as much.
We clearly went after Owen, but Keegan killed it.
Ashton and Heskey were our back up back up plan. Both Wigan and West Ham knew Spurs were desperate and slapped overpriced fees on them. Spurs, quite rightly were not willing to pay over the odds for players who were only going to play till Jan.
Fair enough, Spurs could have paid the money but seriously £10m for Heskey or £16m for Ashton - Both would have been shit investments at best.
So, what did that leave us with. Campbell as a third choice striker. 4 months to navigate with Bent and Pavly before Jan when we can try again to get the players.
Whats the message from all of this. The problem was not that we were chasing players at the last minute but that we left it to the last minute.
I would have taken any of those three to warm the bench and add to the selection options for Ramos.
1. Heskey would give us point man/target options.
2. Ashton would have been made fitter than he's ever been in his life working under Ramos and Alvares. Obviously he'd be on a sauce-less diet, and would be told in no uncertain terms to move away from the pies!
3. Would Owen have taken a pay cut? What I do know that with a different side to his game as displayed at the end of last season for the cartoons, he would have fit well into an unpredictable attacking line up.
My money for the Jan window is Lukas Podolski. Interview in Die Bild (german red top - is that he still isn't happy there and has been slagged off by the Bayern chairman). Fitter than Arshavin will be, pace and a eye for goal.
Greekos - Team will do ok till Jan, by which time Comolli's replacement will have lined up the targets properly and picked them of the transfer shelf for the right price and with the right motivation. COMOLLI OUT! COMOLLI OUT! COMOLLI OUT!
In reality we do not have just the three strikers.
On the official site, J2S is listed as a striker. Maybe JR has got big plans for our mexican friend. I can see him forming a little large partnership with Pav or Bent. At present he's just acclimatising to the PL and once he has I'm sure big things will come of him!

Toddspur, buying out someone's contract does not help, we can only bring in players who were out of contract as at transfer deadline day. It's not even possible to do this 'underhand' since players who were not out of contract would have been registered with the appropriate league organisations. A pity, but brillant letter and hope that Commolli goes pretty soon. Given the track record of transfers since Ramos came in (all good except selling Malbranque and keeping Jenas and Dawson), I hope that Ramos is put in charge of all transfers.

Jamie: while I agree that big things are expected of Dos Santos, I have the following concerns: if Dos Santos is to play as a forward:
(i) who do we have for LW? We have to play Bale at LB because Assou-Ekotto is useless, unless we give Gilberto another chance;
(ii) why did we sell Malbranque, who was making a decent fist of it at LW and could have covered other positions as well?
(iii) When Sevilla made clear that they did not want to sell Capel to us unless we over-paid (and why not overpay if the boy is genuinely good), why didn't we pursue someone else? Why, e.g., were we not in the race for Ben Arfa, a French international who's young and will improve and who moved for less than GBP10m?
Something is seriously wrong at our club. We do great in getting in players like Modric, Dos Santos and Gomes but we always fall short of addressing all the issues and we then struggle. Let's hope that my predictions are wrong but I cannot see us finishing near top 4 this season and it'll be much harder next season when City splash the cash.

Give me another excuse to hate them why not. Don't they understand that this is the ENGLISH Premier League??? As such they should try and speak English with the squad - THE International Language that it is. At least Ramos speaks English with the players if not to the press and McClaren tried to sound Dutch!

The boss talks in French when he has discussions with players and only speaks English in team meetings.

Hulluva finish on 'im to be fair.
I heard Comoli was shown the door and he had three on standby with Wickes, B&Q and Homebase but he bought a window instead.
The question is, now that the transfer dust settles, and we have to rely on the players that we have (bar any out of contract/unregistered? players) if by Boxing day we managed to make through the rounds of the 3 cups and got into a top CL qualifying spots, would we still want to buy in the Jan window?
Feck yeah!

I hope we don't all lose sight of the transfer 'window' being made up of about 3 months worth of dealing, as we seem to be heavily focused on a less than amazing last 12 hours. We were very clever with the offloading of PSB in particular, kicking up a big fuss so they wouldn't dare offer less than £20 when, in all honesty, he would have been half the player without Berba next to him. His work rate would not have been good enough to get him 20 goals this season. Sure, we could have got someone in on a permanent for £10m, but not without gambling big (or buying Heskey/Cole who are proven average-at-best) and compromising on what we really wanted, and given the choice, i'd rather have the cash ready for Jan and time to start lining up some real blockbusters for the next window, which I think we will. I'd rather get huntelaar after a 3 month wait than an instant Heskey. The smoothbum thing was the Russians up to their dodgy games and kind of glad we didn't back down, as much as i liked the fella. Let FC be the fast bloke we stick up front for the last 20 mins of a game and let Bent and Pav prove their worth. Bentley and Modric are top players and players of their calibre would not have given us a 2nd look 5-6 years ago. Pav's movement is top class, if a little raw in front of goal, and Gio was great when I saw him at Orient in pre-season and will be a real coup given time. Gomes looks/sounds top draw as well and there isn't one of our starting 11 that don't have the potential to get a lot better (apart from Woody/King who are the closest thing to a finished article we've got), and they're already pretty decent. I'm a big fan of this squad!
I've said before that I think we need a top DM (Diarra), if only to allow Modric to go and play around the opposition 'D' but that has been our only glaring miss IMO. This was always going to be another bedding in season, despite the chat, and i'm looking forward to seeing how these lads will do. In Wendy & Levy I trust.
Another funny one:
"On the last day, Chelsea made me a great proposal and I accepted it," he said, to which a reporter replied: "You mean Manchester right?". "Yeah, Manchester, sorry!" answered Robinho.
Thats what happens when you splash the cash! You sign players who are just taking the money. We'll see how good Robinho is when he's playing against Stoke or fulham on a freezing day in december. He won't want to know!
Bruce - Go fill your glass, its not the end of the world. Overall we are still stronger than last year IMO (striking dept aside!). Go watch a youtube compilation of Pav's goals or something like that.
TMG - Agree with most of your points. I think Lennon could be given a go at LW. I'm still not a fan but I have to admit that he seems to have worked hard on improving his game over the summer, especially his crossing and final product. Gilberto & BAE both shinign examples of DC's incomparable stupidity. I'd rather play JOH at LB and Bale at LW than see those two line up!
Citeh - Flash in the pan. As i said earlier they have no prestige and the only way players will join them is if they pay them stupid wages. Even then the player would have to see past the lack of slverware or history. IMO they'll find it hard attracting players to Wastelands!
Harry do you think you could keep these therapy sessions going till the end of the season.Highlighting the near misses is really helping me get through this .
JS- quality Robinho quote. Rather puts me in mind of the opening scene from 'Base-ket-ball' where the sell-out American Footballer rattles off a list of teams he's played for before pledging his love to his new home State... which he gets wrong.
Not sure about this Comolli stuff. I'm not sticking up for the guy but how do we know he is responsible for Rocha/BAE/Gilberto/Ghaly/KPB, and Levy, Jol and Ramos are responsible for the Berbas/Modric/Bentley/J2S/Gomes/Woody? I'm sure they all talk to eachother about this stuff. I just think that until we get a list of who is responsible for which buys, we should save judgement... as fun and easy as it is to pin it all on an ex-gooner from France!
dean ashton's a slower version of bent, and heskey is just a lump of meat.
We need a small tricky, turn on a sixpence, striker. Owen would of done 5 years ago, but now he's on pension money and has a stables in the middle of effin cheshire. He wouldn't come south for man city money. He might go to man city for man city money though!!
Lies, Damned Lies & Statistics......

Opta does Pavlyuchenko.
On another note.... Our young guns are really inspiring me this week. First we had Gunter, Secondly J2S and now O'Hara:
“I think this is a massive year for me. I have got to be patient because the manager has bought some fantastic players. I have got to keep proving to him that I am worthy of a start and when the opportunity arises I have got to take my chances.”
CaptainMabbsey - Its widely known that Comolli was responsible for that shower of shite you listed. Ghaly aside who i think my have been pre-DC.
should never have let defoe go. I blame comolli for that too
Cheers JS. I wasn't aware that Comolli was responsible for all that, and if 100% his responsibility, then he has got a lot to answer for. Still, did he have no part in Modric/Gomes etc etc? Should he not also be credited if he played an important part in those deals? Everyone makes mistakes and clubs do shite business all the time. It happens. Not every signing is going to be a success, even with all the best will in the world. Remember Per Koldrup? Now THAT was a f**k up! Hope someone got fired for that one.

Toddspur: 'fine print' is what I do for a living, I'm a lawyer! The best player out of contract at the moment is fat Brazilian Ronaldo but he won't be back in shape before the next transfer window (or ever!) and seems anyway to be targeted by the money met at Man_City. While we should of course look around, I thik that we'll do OK until January, although the present squad is a far cry from what we had all imagined. The first XI seems to be as follows:
-------------__ Gomes ----------------
Corluka -- Woodgate -- King -- Bale
Bentley --- Jenas -- Modric -- Dos Santos
------- Bent ---------- Pavlyuchenko
Not bad, we should have replaced Jenas by Veloso, Dos Santos by Capel or Ben Arfa and Bent by Arshavin, we'd have had a terrific team. Corluka will be great cover for CB when Hutton is back. I hope that Ramos soon realises that Jenas is crap and drops him in favour of Huddlestone, it's no coincidence that our midfield started flowing better when Jenas moved to RB against Chelsea.

I would have been more than happy with Owen! The bloke is a born goal scorer and is world class.
Unfortunately all we got was Frazier C and his "BFH"
