Another load of old rubbish...
There's been some real toot flying around this transfer window and the 'Robbie Keane to Liverpool' story is just about the icing on an increasingly inedible cake. It's less likely than Alan Hansen letting his eyebrows grow. Yes, Hansen. You look like you've a pair of Charlie Chaplin moustaches floating on your forehead.
A source close enough to Keane himself has told me that when he broached the subject he was swiftly told to "feck off" and the subject changed.
To wit, it is an extraordinary thought to believe that Berbatov would turn down a transfer to anyone, even Colchester United if his sole playmaker soul mate was doing 'the off.' This is another pile of pants aka Keane for Crouch re-writ for the masses.
BIOYC!
abit of loyalty!! damn i forgot what that feels like.. and yes please please for the love of god do not bring back faceache (crouch) who has a really fit model girlfriend (funny what money can do aint it!) cant be dealing with bambi on ice playing up front for us.....
Great news if it's true, that these rumors about Keane are rubbish!!! I want him to see out the rest of his career at the Lane... that would something, especially in the current climate.
Another thing i've heard that we have failed with a bid of £12.5m for Diego Capel, if this is true i hope we can still get him?
Just heard the Premiership is going to have new balls next season from Nike, thank god Robinson will be gone!!!
The English Premier League have revealed that the Nike Total 90 Omni Ball will be the ball of choice for next season’s 2008/2009 Premiership campaign; with the ball’s creators Nike stating that it is ‘the most consistent ever.
According to the Nike official site, the ball is described as being:
“A new, red asymmetrical band encircling the ball generates a more powerful visual signal as it rotates, providing a quicker read on ball location, spin rate, speed and trajectory from any angle. It’s designed to help athletes make better decisions at top-speed, when the pressure is on.”
Longlivetheking26 i cant see keano finishing his career at the lane, think he will have one last pay day at about the age of 34 at celtic,
gally180 your probably right, but by that time he will have spent the majority of his career, having been at the Lane for more than a decade - And that will be good enough for me.
Stuart Nethercott (unless your name is SN, why on earth would you call yourself that?), I'll give you a clue, the "Y" stands for You. As for the Keane topic, not even worthy of a comment.
Mr Nethercot
"Bring it on you cnut"
....in the nicest possible way
is this the same keane everybody cry about his backward passes and negative play.he is a great player but you never know in the crazy world of football and more so at spurs.money talks!!!!
TMWNN, feel better now!!!
As for Robbie going to Giroland, nowayJuande.
I still think crouchy isn't all that bad. Granted not in a million years as a swap for Keano which I happen to agree with HH it's complete rubbish. BUT he is a comedy genius.... when asked "What would you be if you weren't a footballer" he responded..... "A virgin"
Got to love the man for his sense of humour and his realism.... still.... Ramos isn't putting an ad in the lonely hearts for an ugly bloke with a GSOH.... we don't need strikers, we need a solid DM like M*kelele or whoever.... Great steal if we could nick Gareth Barry...?
'Barcelona were keen to send Dos Santos out on loan for a season, but he insisted that if he left then it would be on a permanent basis and chose to join Tottenham.
"When I go to a place I like to give everything without thinking about having to prove myself and then return to Barca. I have to focus and give my all to the club I am playing for," he continued.
"Only then can you really be at your best and now thinking about being somewhere else some of the time.
"I am very excited about the Premier League now. It is a league where players are well respected and I cannot wait to start training and playing.
"My English is terrible, but I will learn."'
LINK
Maybe it's the exuberance of youth, but it's the kind of attitude a few older heads could learn from. I like this young man. Looking forward to see him play.
“I also had good offers from Chelsea, Manchester United and Ajax, but I loved Juande Ramos’ ideas. I am going to do great things with the Spurs."
Dos Santos hopes to hit the ground running when the new campaign kicks off in August and has backed himself to be a big hit in The Premier League.
He added: "I want to be the star of The Premier League next season. That is my objective and the reason I have left Barcelona for Tottenham.
"I believe that my style of play can be better in England than it is in Spain, but my first challenge will be to adapt to The Premier League.
"The coach Juande Ramos has been key in this move. I spoke with him to know his intentions and I am very excited about this new adventure.
"Juande has said that next season could be very big for Tottenham and that was a big attraction for me."
LINK
Ramos Factor rocks.
Today The Maily Telegraph and others publish an anonymously written (by 'agencies') unattributed report that: "Liverpool hope to bring Robbie Keane to Anfield."
Do they? Really? In any event he has only recently signed a contract extension and the paper already has his answer...
On 29-May the same publication's Charlie Caroe interviewed AND QUOTED the player in: "Robbie Keane happy to stay at Tottenham."
"I'm very content with my life and my time at Spurs. I want to play there as long as I'm happy and as long as I'm wanted. Over the last three of four years there has always been speculation that I'm going here, there and everywhere. I'm having a summer off without people ringing saying 'Are you going here, are you going there?' I'm looking forward to a nice break and then going back to Spurs next season."
I could only get 300/1. Seriously what sort of projectile strength would I need to have in my lower abs and butt cheeks??.
However they wouldnt give me the same sort of odds for Keano going to Liverpool?
Now in my book Pissing on the moon and Keano going to Liverpool are about as likly as each other yet the odds have a margin of 290?
Put you money on me guys....Im doing starjumps as we speak..........
thanks Sir H!! for putting this one to bed!! now i can sigh relief, my big BELLY was making so many sounds it was worse then concord flying over.
all this gutter press should be left were it belongs!!.
Hmmm. My Liverpool supporting chum is loving this rumour. "Oooh, Torres and Keane paired up front" etc. I admit to drooling at the same thought a year or two back (though obviously in the hope that Torres would be signing for us).
He is claiming Keane wants CL football, and Liverpool would give him the No.7 shirt (Dalglish's old number and that "he was Keane's boyhood hero").
As for players making statements such as "I want to stay here"... don't think players don't ever change their minds. Joaquin (who some here wish would become our next right winger) in the Bentley article etc. declared he would be staying at Real Betis for another year, then less than three weeks later he declared he would be leaving.
So I am left a little worried that Liverpool's "suggestive tap up" tactic could have caused our best player to give the matter some thought. I'd rather they got Berbatov, than Keane. And I clearly hope Robbie's head isn't turned by the "flattering interest" and the prospect of linking up with another great striker (only with a great attitude), to play CL football, challenge for major honours etc., and that he wishes to stick it out for us.
God when you say it like that I almost feel sorry for keeping him
Amazing piece written here:

Quite scary statistics. Its main point is that defensively we shipped goals heavily against both top half teams and bottom half teams. Meaning we played worse when we played against lower teams. This must be to do with a huge motivational thing and a lot of pressure should be put on the manager after reading these statistics.
Ramos had from October to help turn us around. We won the League Cup, but our performances in the EPL were still statistically crap. We all seem to love Ramos at the moment - should this article be a cause for concern?
MS,
Two season’s ago, when Robbie was apparently ‘unsettled’ because he was not playing regularly under Jol, numerous unsubstantiated stories persisted, claiming a possible move to Celtic - the club he supported as a boy. As we know, these were nothing more than speculative.
Now we are to believe the same is true of Liverpool - although according to biographers he did actually support them.
However, a number of things have changed: he is now a first team regular, in fact he is captain in King’s absence, he has signed a new contract until the end of May 2012, and he appears central to Ramos’s plans. Personally, he is settled and recently married.
And, although not obliged to do so (and any agent would advise against), he confirmed that he would be a Spur player next season.
With the above in mind, and as the Robbie Keane I observe seems an honourable and ‘honest broker’, I would say there is no cause for alarm.
Have Spurs seen off any possible interest [in Berbatov] from United?
The Guardian are reporting that: "Ferguson trains his eye on lone transfer target.
"Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Manchester United's supporters not to expect a host of fresh arrivals at Old Trafford by revealing he plans to sign only one player before the season begins in August. United have been linked with summer moves for Dimitar Berbatov and Roque Santa Cruz but, aged 27 and 26 respectively, neither appears to fit the type of youthful player Ferguson says he is now in pursuit of.
"United's manager expects more meaningful player movement following the conclusion of Euro 2008, but has no plans to become heavily involved. "The European Championship derails transfer activity," he said. "Nothing really happens while the championships are on. Now it is all over, things will settle down. Managers are back at clubs, back at training and you can get some dialogue now if you are interested in somebody, but I wouldn't think [we will sign] any more than one player."
so today we've signed a 16 year old 'keeper.. one Mirko Ranieri from Perugia...
and also we learn that Big Tom is in Juande's plans for the next five years..
any thoughts anyone??
good to see Big Tom staying imo - I know the views are mixed on this one but JR obviously sees a big future for him giving our stockpiling of midfielders....
Good news re: the little Italian keeper - shows ambition, but obviously won't have any immediate impact. not convinced that many of our recent "ones for the future" have proved so, but good to have some concrete news.....
Hey Sir H!! if there was window you might get load peeping toms, i thought you liked it hot!! :)
hi all!,
talk sport are reporting the crouch/keane
move..... please dont let it be true!!
to me keane is the life and soul of this
club, levy would have to fight a fan backlash
if this goes ahead.
For the aviodance of doubt, Talk Sport 'report' very little; They do however want to generate debate i.e. calls.
Very happy that Thudd has signed on for the next 5 years. Shows that Ramos does have faith in the youngsters since him and O'Hara have now signed extensions.
A few naysayers suggested that Ramos was only using the youngsters as he was so bitterly disapointed with our first team mid.
Thudd: has shown improvement and shows potential = keep. Hurrah!
Doesn't look like Huddlestone is involved in the clear out then, call me cynical though, but now he's on a new 5 year contract, doesn't that mean he'll now cost more if someone does come in for him?
TMWNN, you are correct in your assumption and yes, you are being cynical; There's no pleasing some people.
[That's just what Jesus said]
I know everyones probably already heard this, but it does fill me with dread if it is true???
talkSPORT radio have announced that Tottenham Hotspur are very close to signing Peter Crouch from Liverpool, and David Bentley from Blackburn.
The UK national sports station has stated that sources close to them have said that Spurs are "extremely close to signing Peter Crouch as part of the transfer that will take Robbie Keane the other way".
They also stated that "Tottenham Hotspur are about to announce the signing of David Bentley from Blackburn".
After all the rubbish that's been circulating recently, I'll believe it when I see it.
If anyone has any other info on the talkSPORT exclusive, please let us know.
LLTK26: I refer the honourable gentleman to the answer/s given some moments ago - not to mention throughout the day; Do you, perchance, work for the aforementioned Talk Shite?
Does anyone feel at all comforted by Sir Alex's comments in The Grauniad? Who are reporting that: "Ferguson trains his eye on lone transfer target.

I said earlier I wouldn't comment on this topic, but a certain radio station has included it in it's hourly sports bulletin for most of the day. Lies of this magnitude ought to be quashed by the player or the club, if they're indeed lies.
TalkSport isn't exactly the last bastion in investigative journalism, so for all the Keane lovers (and the Crouch haters) there's no need to reach for the razor blades just yet.
But, and it's a very big BUT, if Keane did go, I don't think it would be the end of the world, far from it. We've been over reliant for far too long now on the Berbatov and Keane double act due to the lack of creativity in the middle. In too many games in the past Keane and Berbatov have had to drop deep to make things happen and in turn slowed the attack down, giving opposition's defences time to regroup and, uh, defend.
With the addition of GDS, Modric and probably Bentley we're (hopefully) going to see a lot more quality play from the midfield going forward, from the wings and down the middle. I know this will upset a few people, but I don't think Keane has the pace to get on the end of better service nor the clinical composure in front of goal that will be required to gain us CL football. If the money is right and he wants to go, sell.
Cue the rotten eggs and tomatoes.
Maybe just maybe this Keano for Crouch deal is part of a bigger picture.
For some reason and i dont know why i think we have already signed David Villa but he didnt want the deal announced before the Euro's. Villa and Keano are very similar players and probably wouldnt be very effective in the same team (both drop deep and arent lone strikers). Therefore this signing of Crouch for Keano, could be to make way for Villa.
Thinking out of the box i know but how would a forward line of Crouch, Villa & Berbatov sound???
Then again its probably a load of bulls testicles and the Berba-off talk will resume normal service again tomorrow...
Keane to Pool? Thought I'd see what Pool supporters are saying. Below is a fairly random selection of comments on a forum - LINK
They make interesting reading. By no means do they represent everyone's opinion, but Keane is much admired by a good number of the Kop.
------------
Elisha Scott over on YNWA said "The Keane thing is possible though, he shares an agent with Gerrard".
------------
Would take him in an instant, quality player.
------------
Keane must be texting like crazy on his honeymoon then. His Mrs can't be too pleased.
------------
Might get slated for this, but would rather have him over Villa tbh.
------------
not slated at all, I agree completely.... as rafa would say keane is qwality.
------------
If Villa don't need our money and players as some people claim....
Spurs don't need the money and our players 100 times more than Villa...
------------
Always liked Robbie Keane. Certainly I would rather have Villa but Keane is no lightweight. Good Premier League experience and a solid goal scoring record. Also has a knack for scoring late and important goals. However, as of late, he has taken to pissing and moaning at the ref. However, that can be sorted out. I think he is better than Kuyt in terms of goalscoring ability and also works hard on the ball. If it happens I would be delighted. Even think he was a red as a youngster too.
--------------
I'd love him here. The only problem would be where he would fit in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Would it be him or Gerrard on the right of the three I wonder? I think him and Torres would complement each other fantastically. He's so underrated.
-----------------
I like Keane- good striker and works hard as well. Wouldn't mind seeing him replace Crouch one bit actually.
---------------
Definitely, I've liked him for years. It feels like he was always going to play for us eventually.
Isn't it just typical of Spurs...No sooner are we as fans on a high, with all the recent transfer activity... That the press say that someone is either slating us, turning us down, or leaving the club! It seems to me we can never be happy for long, without someone trying to ruin it argggh!!!!! Am i alone in thinking this???
LLTK26: only in my darkest hours. Have a word with yourself, come on now, get a grip. Who gives a shit what talkSHITE, Daily Mail et al write. Honestly, you've got to be a mug to take what they dream up seriously. These publications have to 'move the story on', have something new/different to talk about and fill column inches or 24-hr round-the-clock rolling nonsense, whether there is something actually happening or not.
Chirpy i hear what you are saying but these rumors about Keane & Crouch, whether true or not - seriously worry me... If they continue then it will get me thinking, that there is no smoke without fire as proven by the Gomes deal as an example.
Don't read tonight's Daily Mail offering then, you won't sleep.
I like the fact it took TWO genius minds at the Daily Male to pen this little gem. Well done JOHN EDWARDS AND NEIL ASHTON, you can pick up your British Press Awards for "Scoop of the Year" by ringing up 1-800-EAT-SHIT
However, if it's not true they're walking a fine and potentially libelous line as it could be considered defamation.
My feather friend - have you ever actually read the Mail?
Chirpy i have just read it, and it claims that Keane wants out! This has got to be some kind of joke right? I think the club should come and say if this particular rumor is indeed a load of old cobblers, or if there is any truth in it.
Worse case scenario he was to leave i could just about live with... especially at £20m! But Crouch? he can F*uck right off!!! No doubt there will be Spurs fans saying he is not as bad as i think, yeah right!
If Liverpool are serious then we'll take Torres in exchange.
Bet you're not quite so keen now Rafa
If only.... in an ideal world...
But daddy long legs!
Let's just hope it's speculation, and nothing more.
The fact it's in The Currant Bun today seems to add credence to the story! Let's hope it's not true. Saying that, would we really miss his petulance if he was replaced with someone world class OTHER than Crouch?
i fail to see the sense in this deal (from a tottenham perspective anyway). lets face it berbatov will probably be off as will bent. surely ramos doesnt want to lose keane as well leaving us with no strikers.
i know we'll get crouch but then does ramos want to be left with one average striker he's never worked with and has hardly ever seen play? i dont think so.
on a note regarding a comment above about villa already signed for us - i agree. was out in mexico for weeks at the start of june and with the strong spanish conection out there, there was lots of speculation that he'd already signed and would be announced at some point after the euros.
probably just shite but i have an good feeling that villa will be wearing the lilywhite shirt next season.
Who knows what goes on behind the scenes, could be a fall out with Ramos, the knowledge that we're about to sign a world class striker and Berbatov is staying, his wife already running his life or it's just plain bull shit.
Harry....
At first i dismissed the rumour as it was published in the bastion of truth that is the daily mail. But reading further reports this morning that Keano has handed in a transfer request has disturbed me some what.
Can you give us an update on what the feck is going on???
The prospect of losing Keano is affecting my ability to work! I may have to pull a sickie oif things don't improve!
TMWNN
I dont usually believe what the daily mail says but i must admit just the prospect of losing keano strikes fear into my soul. I would rather lose Berba than lose robbie
KEEP STEED!
LINK
The sun are saying that liverpool have offered £5m plus crouch for Robbie!
That is possibly the worst offer i have ever heard. Its quite offensive actually. Crouch should just move to pompey to be part of ''the harry redknapp experiment''
Our one saving grace could be that Crouch would turn us down as he favours a move to Pompey, therefore runining any deal that stupid David Gest lookalikr Benitez has of signing our robbie!
Interestingly the strikers that we have been most closely linked with this summer have looked more like Keane replacements than Berbatov, with the exception of Crouch.
Maybe there is something in this.
When i first read this i felt like crying! I really hate Crouch. He is a wfull player to watch. Yes, he has done some good things, but i just dont rate him highly! Everything he does lookes so clumsy and stupid. i do NOT want to se peter in a spurs shirt..
As i have said before: Lets hope to land Bentley, Capel and a crazygood DM who can do all the dirty work.
COYS THIS YEAR WE _WILL_ GET THAT CL SPOT!!
This Keane story may not be so far fetched at all. If you recall, towards the end of the season, Keano was being subbed quite frequently for no real apparent reason.
Maybe there has been a falling out behind the scenes that we are unaware of?
I do hope not!!
"I like the fact it took TWO genius minds at the Daily Male to pen this little gem. Well done JOHN EDWARDS AND NEIL ASHTON, you can pick up your British Press Awards for "Scoop of the Year" by ringing up 1-800-EAT-SHIT"
Hahahaha. Nice one Mr Poet.
I just cant see it myself. WHY would the board be willing to sell our best striker, our captain (most of the time) and a fans favourite. The man has just been voted as spurs' player of the year and he is on his way to becoming a spurs legend.
He only came out about 2months ago stating that he loves the club, the fans, wants to win more trophies at Spurs etc.
I just cant see it. I think its some idiot journo at the daily mail dreaming up a story to sell papers. I mean the very idea that we would part with Keane for £5m & Crouch.............. DONT MAKE ME LAUGH!!
if liverpool value Crouch at £15m then the keyboard i'm using to write this is worth £10m! what a load of shite.
Crouch is worth around £8m and the very fact that he is surplus to requirements at Liverpool only serves to push his price down not up!
I f*cking hate that David Gest lookalike Rafa Benitez!
A falling out so serious it prompted him to tell the The Daily Telegraph: "I'm very content with my life and my time at Spurs.
LLTK26: 'No smoke without fire'? We have been linked to over a hundred individual player transfers since early April. Will they all be joining/leaving? Peter and The Wolf would be a more appropriate analogy.
TheOriginalDannyBoy: The Currant Bun add credence to nothing, but they do have a penchant for lazy re-writing of others 'stories' rather than (the more expensive) research and production of original copy. Place reliance upon them at your peril. An recent example of the journalistic integrity can be found at: LINK and LINK
Interestingly, The Mirror and Daily Mail combined have today linked all our strikers with moves away from the club. Silly season proper starts here then. Media are always looking to develop and move stories on and keep you 'hooked'. Yesterday's Keane related revelations clearly didn't wash and were rightly treated with scorn. So, something more was plainly required if this one was to run. Fergusons comments yesterday hinted that interest in Berbatov was flagging. Lo and behold, today there are 'further developments' that re-kindle the stories and give publications the opportunity to 'report' further.
Best wait for a quote and/or reliable source before we soil ourselves or fire off a letter of disgust to Levy. If they turn out to be true, please feel free to combine these suggestions.
I think that the club or Keane need to come out and deny that he asked for a transfer, and quickly too. Keane is the fans favourite and silence from both sides will only fuel the fire.
indeed Chirpy, Consensus has been reached!
I just really cant see Keano leaving. Although, he is apparently good mates with Gerrard and Carragher & just sawhe's been on holiday with Jamie Redknapp so you wnever know who has been earwigging him.
It would be a loss of catostrophic proportions if we lost Keano. I hold my hands up and admit that I actually thought a FEW years ago that we should keep Defoe and sell Keano. However.... I love being proved wrong sometimes and Keano has played his way into my affections. He is on the verge of greatness at Spurs and with the signings we are making / sure to make in the coming weeks we will have a squad to push any of the top 4.
He must see this and he must stay. Ramos, Levy, the tea lady, you must unite and KEEP KEANE!!
KEEP KEANE
KEEP STEED
TWMNN
I agree. Keano and the club need to issue some sort of statement. Pre-season training starts in a week and the matter needs to be resolved before the players come back.
*curls up into fetal position at the thought of Darren Bent being our number 1 striker*
I agree Chirpy, however, it would put our minds at ease if, as TMWNN says, Keane or the club came out and said it was all bollocks. I accept he is probably on his honeymoon at the moment - which leads me to wonder how he 'handed in' his transfer request. But his agent could do it for him.
I see that we did make an offer for Capel. According to Setanta, Del Nido (or however you spell it) has said they turned down an offer in excess of his buyout clause because only Spanish clubs can take advantage of those clauses. I can't quite see how that works though, surely a buyout clause is just that and it would be against EU regulations to restrict it to just Spanish clubs taking advantage of that. Any one else understand the intricacies of Spanish law?
Like a Gloucester Cheese, its gathering pace, however all this has come from the rumours page of the Guardian from the weekend. It then was announced by the worst Journo in the world Ian Abrahams as a source close to talksport?? What does that mean...fuck all!
Ian Abrahams is a fool and is treated like like by his peers on talksport. It is common knowledge that he reads the sport from cuttings from the moring press?. Now if you want to take that as a source of info fair play, thats your choice but remember 99% of the info that pops up on "Newsnow" is the same info just in a different format and under a different webpage.
Keano is on Honeymoon at the minute, why would he breakaway from it to announce that he's going nowhere? to make you feel better becasue you choose to read shite websites? Come on Guys.
A Good indication is Skysports, they have to vet ALL stories for legal reasons, if it aint on there then is doesnt hold and credance, if it breask on there in the next day or so then you have a reason to be worried, my guess is is wont so relax.
Of course it could also be seen as an effort by Liverpool to destabilise a club that may threaten their position in the top four.
Onedavemackay...
Good point. The thought that the mickey mousers are sh*tting themselves at our impending challenge makes me smile!
They know along with Arsenal, Everton, Pompey that we are a club on the up.
Last season was a blip; a dropped stitch in the massive blanket of progression we are currently making.
Up the Ramos Revolution
KEEP KEANE
KEEP STEED!
Swapping a lanky robotic Spurs reject for Keane and ANY amount of money makes my balls tighten, my eyes involuntarily vibrate and vomit to leap up just short of my uvula. However, the bottom line is that as long as we play exciting football and finish at least 5th this season, I don't care if we sell everyone and buy the Colchester reserves. We must assume the staff know what they're doing and everything which takes place before the new season gets underway is part of a cunning plan.
jamiespurs 100% with you on keeping Keano and Steed. Of course anything can happen in football, but remembering Keane's nomadic trials and tribulations elsewhere and the fact that he's had the best two seasons of his life suggests he would think very seriously before leaving.
monkeynuts, it was on Sky Sports this morning, among their transfer rumours sourced from papers.
But when Steve Curry reviewed the papers, he made no mention of it, so maybe he didn't give it any credence. I would have considered it quite a big story, even though I can't recall Steve Curry ever paying much attention to Spurs issues. He's more a top four man, especially Man Yoo, so maybe the story just didn't personally interest him.
all this keano talk giving me headache i just hope and prey its all bullshit!!
i agree big belly
Think i may have to go off work if the shouty pointy one leaves!!
Strangely, while this is the Mails No2 Football story it is no longer listed as a Spurs story.
Beginning of the end methinks.
what you mean johnnytwosaints?????
The end of this useless waste of space story/rumour
or
the beginning of the end for Keano
all this reminds of last summers transfer saga.
berbatov being linked with a move to man utd in a cash plus saha deal. united had apparently offered the money and berbatov had said he wanted to go.
what happened about it? fuck all. it's all just speculation and it always happens that our best players (and any other teams) are linked with moves away. it's part of football and i dont thinkwe have anything to worry about
Like i said before as soon as we are on the up, someone tries to bring us down! The signing we have made so far show our intentions, and bar Chelsea who have signed Deco and Boswinga, we have made the most waves in the transfer market thus far. I just hope this is paper talk... In Ramos we trust!
Harry, I heard a rumour that Wrighty7 wants a transfer to this blog, as the info and banter are better.
Put your foot down, mate.
That sits up with what I heard, Ar5ena1 Suppporters are offering him on a free along with his marble collection (incomplete) and a 'go' on his brother's space hopper... ;)
Funny thing, I've just seen the editor of the Mail go past on a space hopper.

Keane eyes Tottenham's Bent LINK
How's that for a headline? There I was wondering what new spin had been put on the Robbie story, and it was Roy all the time.
Can't see Bent going to Sunderland, but stranger things seem to be happening, so why not?
HH, just curious, have the new Mr & Mrs Keane returned from their Sardinian honeymoon as yet? When are Spurs due to start pre-season training, is it next Monday?
Just heard this on Sky Sports...
I hope it happens even though it looks like it's in the balance.
Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido claims to have turned down an offer from Tottenham Hotspur for Diego Capel.
The young winger has long been linked with a move to White Hart Lane after playing under Juande Ramos at Sevilla.
Reports have claimed that Ramos is keen to add the 20-year-old to his Spurs squad for next season.
Capel has a clause in his contract which would allow him to leave Sevilla, but the club say it is only valid if a fellow Spanish side make an offer.
Del Nido claims Spurs have offered in excess of that sum as he looks to keep Capel at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
"He has a clause in his contract which is only valid for a Spanish team," Del Nido told the club's official website.
"We do not negotiate with any figure less than that.
"Tottenham made a superior bid and we said no."
Amazing comparison, Nine Thirty Seven.
Actually laughed out loud and my cheeks hurt.
Cheers.
PS The teachers of the Foundation in Tabloid Journalism are Mr John Edwards and Mr Neil Ashton.
La Keano's & Rednapp's were snappped on sunloungers in one of the red tops this morning, so that pic is right as of yesterday.
Just occured to me if this is pile of pants as I suspect, then a cleverly pile, timed to allow a few days virtually guaranteed 'no comment' from Bob as he's on the jolly with the wife...
Dos Santos will be as good as keane in that role if he work as hard as him.he will be a good replacement for keane in next few years but not now.however, attitude is the most important as keane is the best in that
LLTK26:
To be honest all sounds pretty stupid. Why would a club put a buy-out clause on a player which only applies to Spanish clubs? So they are happier to sell one of their top players to their competition rather than abroad? Plus the clubs abroad (Spurs) are offering more than the buy-out clause. Hmmm. I smell shit.
Lets get Bentley wrapped up. We dont want to many foreigners in the squad, especially with the up and coming regulations.
Still waiting to see a defensive midfielder mentioned in the tabloids. Am sure one will be signed out of nowhere. Deco to Chelsea. Anyone hear anything about that before it happened?
Whats the point of all this gossip? We might as well just sit back and wait for Harry to tell us when someone has signed or not....
They were indeed and re-printed by the joined-up journalism wooden-spoon winners... The Daily Mail - LINK
The question for Messrs Edwards and Ashton is how exactly did: "The 28-year-old came out of a meeting at White Hart Lane having left club officials in little doubt about his eagerness to play for his boyhood idols," when he was relaxing on a Sardinian sun-lounger?

Chirpy!!
good work son! i have to say sometimes journalists make me wonder!
I actually saw a story on the bbcsport website today stating that Birminghams daniel de ridder, (dutch U21 winger) was 27!! how do these people have jobs??
Chirpy. Fantastic journalism.
I think all Spurs fans can give you a big pat on the back and a round of applause as we all breath a huge sigh of relief!
it frustrates me that journalists can go round making up these stories! I mean yesterday it was a made up rumour that the daily mail went with, now its the main football headline on the BBCSPORT webpage!
I would like to see Spurs or any other clubs for that matter taking these "journalists" / people to court to stop them from publishing unfounded rumours!
KEEP KEANE
KEEP STEED
Maybe the stories linking Berbatov, Keane and Bent with moves away is to do with a Media Embargo on the David Villa signing. If we've signed him but the press can't announce it, they know that one striker will have to go. Conspiracy theories are my bag baby.....
Park Lane Nomad...
How do you know about the villa signing?? If he is joining then i expect bent to go and berba to stay. Berbs cant leave if we keep signing the worlds most exciting talent!
JS, in fairness to the BBC they are reporting Liverpool's apparent interest and casting doubt on the reported meeting.
I think we all know that transfer talk is predominantly tittle-tattle (as opposed to match reports, features and interviews, etc) and not really journalism.
What really 'got my goat' about the Mail's article is they were prepared to use and potentially disrupt the bloke's honeymoon in the process; W*nkers.
Although he does look busy on the phone in image 780587h.
LINK
Am sure he is just ordering a pizza on room service for later or something...
Fingers crossed...
would you go on honeymoon with ur mate ahd his mrs?? lol
its a very strange honeymoon! you can imagine Jamie "literally" Redknapp, literally booking a holiday to Sardinia then literally invite his mate Keano! lol
he must have literally wet himself in excitement!
All i really know is that we need to keep hold of Keano. We saw how much damage it did us when we lost C*mpbell and then Carrick, we cannot be expected to challenge if we keep letting our best players leave.
Liverpool are relatively skint(whatever happened to their ECL money?). Crouch is not worth £15m - except in Rafa's eyes. Perhaps he's worth £10m from Juande's point of view - who knows?. Therefore, if Keane is worth £20m (and he is!) then L'pool will have to stump up £10m - not the £5m being bandied about. Barry is L'pool no.1 target ('cos Gerrard says so) @ £15m plus - AV want £19m. Alonso will bring in some dosh (£15m) and Riise went for £4m - but all of this will go on Barry (£19m). If 'Spurs refuse Crouch, there will be no deal for Robbie - unless L'pool sell Crouch to P'mouth (who will not pay more than £8 -£9m) and other fringe players like Benayoun?).
I can see the Yanks in L'pool asking Rafa to calm down, calm down!
Worst case scenario is that we lose Berb, Keano and get rid of Bent. £60m. I can think of plenty of options for that kind of money!
Best case scenario is we keep Berba & Keano, sell Bent and add a couple of Juande's choices. Perm any 8 from 10 as they say!
Bruxie best case scenario is definitely getting rid of Bent, and then keeping Berba & Keane,
whilst adding another class addition! As long we don't get Crouch as i've said a million times!
Hopefully we will target strikers like; Villa, Podolski & Milito! If that happens then i think we will all be happy!
I think Liverpools ECL cash went straight back into paying off Hicks & Gillets debts!! or paying the wage bill at one of his NHL sides! lol
Ur right though, Rafa has been told he must sell to buy. Unfortunately for him Villa are sticking to their guns and demanding £19m for Barry. like u said even with the sale of Alonso and Riise thats all they can afford. Bearing in mind they have just bought Dossena from Udinese for £8m
Do u think it could be a ploy designed to make Pompey bid for Crouch and avoid the possibility of Crouch winding his contract down and moving for nothing next year. I cannot believe they value him at £15m when he only has a year on hsi contract and he's not that good in the first place! lol
I think what happened is this.
Juande sends text to Rafa
"Ha! you no getting Bentley. For Crouch + £5M you can 'ave Lennon"
Rafa replies
"Cojones! For £5m + Crouch I wan' Robbie Keane!!! Lol"
Can you f*cking believe this>>> LINK
The daily mail have the cheek - check the Berbatove rumour bit - to say "if you believe some tabloid reports" WHAT IS THE DAILY MAIL??? its hardly a broadsheet!! lol
I have always hated that paper for its pathetic shock tactic articles now i have another reason! ITS TERRIBLE UNSUBSTANTIATED RUMOUR MAKING!
Surely all these new footballers - if indeed they arrive - will prove difficult to assemble into a workable team within the closing few weeks and days of the pre-season preparation?
I doubt it's possible even for Juande, in so short a space of time, to meld the new recruits into an intuitive, fully operational and co-operative unit. Add to that the initial shock to overseas players of the Premier League style, with its pace and physicality, and its inevitable acclimatisation period, and I wonder if we might not see next season's drama conform to the fantasy script.
But maybe I ought to just reduce my doses of realism.
Best case scenario is they all stay, including Bent; Give the bloke a chance. His goal-game ratio wasn't that bad.
There are far more pressing matters in the midfield and defence for ramos, Comolli and Levy to concern themselves with.
9.37
Sven did it with Man City last season. We are very fortunate to have Juande Ramos as our manager! He's the man and he will sort it all out!
Agree on Bent. Disaster in many respects, but now JR's shipped in a couple of footballers who appear to spend all day making killer passes....
9.37
Surely you know realism should not be taken out of the cabinet between June and the following April
Harry, the Keane and Bentley posts are now neck and neck at 124 comments apiece. Are you taking bets?
I had a disastrous betting incident the other day............
I BET ON THE OTHER BLOKE TO WIN THE ZIMBABWEAN ELECTION!
I thang you!
What? I can't believe The Daily Mail suggested Berbatov had a low work rate. What on earth are they doing? I thought they constantly reported bollocks...
Spurs have apparently signed Joe Martin from Blackpool...
Johhnytwosaints
I try and keep my realism close to hand at all times!
However on some situations i have to bury it at the end of the garden in order to let me dream! This is known as Seasons Start Syndrome! I get all optimistic and bleary eyed only to watch us lose and then i have to double the dosage of realism to get me back into shape!
Its a terrible syndrome to have. Its very common amongst spurs fans so my doctor tells me!
Oh bollocks... where's the edit button? Has it gone? I mean Blackpool have signed Joe Martin from us LOL!
MS, how are you doing?
what are your views on the Keane situation?
the bbc story has now changed, in the 'liverpool face battle for keane' piece they are now stating the following .......
Spurs have not received a transfer request from Keane, despite reports claiming he had demanded to leave White Hart Lane
jimyid
Good work mate! the story is slowly disappearing intot the black slimey hole it came from - DAILY MAIL JOURNALISM DEPT!
I wonder if someone from Spurs has been in touch with these news agancies of ill repute!!
Haha, awesome, Levy has been on the blower giving it the large one I expect!!!
I actually quite like Levy! He was out of order how he dealt with Jol but u feel the man only wants whats best for Spurs.
He drives a hard bargain too! I mean £18.6m for Carrick and £6m for Mido (sale of the century)I guarantee that if Berbs leaves we will see a very handsome profit margine on him too
I cant argue with what he's done, there's no doubt he has Spurs best interest at heart. But don't let Spooky hear you say that! There are a few people who think the only reason Levy wants success is to make a profit when he sells the club in a few years, I'd guess Spooky would be in this camp. If you dont know Spooky, I'd read here www.dearmrlevy.com It's a cracking read.
I can't help but feel that Levy has an alterior motive and that is to beef up the clubs value to sell up!
Sorry fellas, but the BBC has not changed its story, it didn't ever cmopletely jump on the three-wheeled bandwagon; Since it posted at around mid-day today it has read: "Spurs have not received a transfer request from Keane, despite reports claiming he had demanded to leave White Hart Lane."
Jamie
SSS is common among all football club supporters but due to hereditary generic disorder it is most acute among Tottenham supporters, where delusions are so common that there is an annual cycle.
August- Total belief that this is the year we win the league.
September/October- Total belief that we will qualify for the Champions League
November- Dose of reality as we finally clear the relegation zone
December- Total belief that a cup run is on the way
January/February- Total belief that we can qualify for EUFA
March- If we are lucky continued belief that we will qualify for something
April- Total belief that we will do better next season
Park Lane Nomad...
Thats the first one! how many others do u think will say along the same lines??
There is no doubt that Levy is a businesman and i'm sure there will come a time when the club will be sold. This decision will not be down to Levy it will be down to a MR JOE LEWIS - ENIC's owner and our main benefactor.
All i'll say to those doubters is -
enjoy the present, the future is the future! The futures bright. the future is lilywhite!
Hey Harry,
As promised yesterday i got my missus to check out the Bentley medical at Holly House scoop.
Tottenham have paid for two medicals first was the young goalkeeper we just signed the second was none other then
David Michael Bentley who underwent a medical Tuesday 24th of June 2008 at 9pm.
He has passed the medical with no problems, so i guess its just Blackburn holding the announcement up.
But there you go Harry, i have got my Missus on 24 hr medical watch now i am bugging the shit out of her about letting me know about anymore players.
If she see's crouch come in i will ask her to get the doc to fail the lanky twat.
BigYid Out
Ah Bimi, how are you?
Well I think I covered it to an extent by saying "players change their minds". I'd be pretty disappointed if he went. I actually admire Crouch. Very skilful IMHO for a 6'7" player. But as much as I hate how we buy a guy for 11 mill then offload him for free (Rebrov), I hate the fact we chose to sell Crouch for 60k in 2000 - and so now he's perceived to be worth 10 or 15 mill (depends on your opinion of the valuation) we could be prepared to shell that out to get him back?! Hardly a good bit of business.
More importantly regarding Crouch is the question of whether he would fit into the new look Tottenham side. I guess this angle will be left up to Ramos - i.e. whether he wants him, whether we'd accept him in a swap deal for Keane. In Ramos We Trust?
Some have said "We'll never sell Keane, plus he's only recently signed a new contract". Well, he signed that a year ago, right? So not exactly yesterday. And if we've slapped a 20 million price tag on his head, that suggests to me we would sell him. For something close to that valuation, anyway. Just as we slap a 30 million tag on Berba's head, and we may take 25 mill for him. We'll have to wait and see. Keane said at the end of last season he was happy at Spurs and he loved the club. Nice of him to come out and say that, but that does not mean he wouldn't want to leave to play, does it?
If we are talking about boyhood dreams and ambitions, and being as this perhaps is a move Robbie never expected could happen again, we can't automatically assume it's a no-no (from the player), can we? If he's interested in playing for Liverpool, I'd assume that's thrown a big spanner in the works regarding our plans. And regardless of whether it's Keane or Berbatov, or anyone else for that matter - if the player wants to leave, I think you just have to get the best price for him and be done with it.
I sincerely hope Keane doesn't want to leave. I get the feeling he might.
BIGYID!!
God bless you my child!! This is fantastic news!! Congratulate the MRS and tell her in your best biggles accent "bravo! bloody good job!"
So now we just have to sit back and wait!
*sobs under desk*
*puts tinfoil hat on*
*hopes to hibernate until transfer window slams shut on Daily Mail's finger*
Jamie,
Apparantly so.
But this season we really are going to...........................
win the league, uefa cup, fa cup, carling cup, charity shield and the crowning glory........... the Johnstones Paint Trophy!
"Nice of him to come out and say that, but that does not mean he wouldn't want to leave to play*, does it?"
*elsewhere
Sorry. For Bimi's benefit I was going to add maybe it's the thought of him playing alongside a less sulky striker (Torres) that's got him excited ;-)
I'm missing the "edit" button Harry. Please investigate :-)
Jamie
You forgot to add that after a suberb group stage in the UEFA cup we will become the first team to be promoted to the Champions League knockout stage at the expense of Arsenal who have the worst record of the sixteen qualifiers.
exactly!! Promotion to the quarters of the cl!! good stuff!
does anyone know the in and outs of the buyout clauses in spain sevilla say they have rejected our bid for capel which met his clause but also say they are not 100% certain that they are allowed to do so they believe that it can only be broken by a spanish side but it has not been confirmed so by the spanish fa as yet so ????????
trueyid - they can put whatever they like in the contract and if he's signed it will be bound by it. if it's a general buy out clause and the club are saying it only counts if a spanish club offers it then it would not be enforceable (i think). If both parties signed a contract saying "You can leave if a Spanish Club offer £x." then it would be true that it only applies to a Spanish club.
That's assume basic contract law is similar to that in the UK, which I suspect it is....
RVB, my understanding is that the release clause is a requirement of the spanish FA in all players contracts registered with their clubs and as a result, it will probably depend on what their regulations say.
I wonder if EU regulations would restrict Sevilla/Spanish FA from limiting the release clause only to spanish teams...
sorry lads but am i the only fan whos thinks letting robbie k go would be good.he seems to think everythink should go through him since he got the armband and often slow things down and i know hes good but for the balance of the team i would not mind him going as long as he is replaced by someone with pace for the counter attack.as for loyalty dont get me started mr spurs for life as soon as there is a bit of intrest spurs r no longer good enough.ps wish defoe was still about
I love this one... it has all the right ingredients Nelson Cabreras 25 yr old Defender from Cerro Porteno in Paraguay. ....club managed by our Ossie ...we get comments from the club chairman and even a mystery Mexican club sniffing around...love it, it may even turn out to be true!
Trouble is, although I do love Ossie......I don't think he'd be the first guy I'd wanna buy a Defender from him ;-P
COYS!
i hope and prey this is load bull but a very good friend of my wife who no someone very high up at spurs and she claimed that its all true about keano deal is already been down :( if true i will be one big pissed off fan who belly gonna get even bigger:(
1 yid, I don't think anyone thinks that letting Keane go would be a good thing, although I see where your coming from.
Personally, if £60 million pounds came plummeting down from up on high and wiped out all three of our strikers, I'd be flabbergasted, but cool with it.
Good to see you treating the Keane story appropriately. Complete load of rubbish so it is. I don't believe the nonsense in the press about Berbatov either. Ramos would have to be crazy to try to change our attack and Levy will not sell. So Keane + Berbatov will be our starting pair next season. Cannot wait to see them in front of our new midfield.
my inside source tells me far different from most things i have read above. and trust me the guy is as 'on the inside' as you possibly can be without being one of the players or officials themselves. do with this what you will, but this is what i was informed last night:
keane has unofficially told the club he wants to leave. ie no transfer request has been handed in, but he has indeed made it known that he wants out.
there has been no formal bid for bentley and all speculation of a medical last week is untrue. we ARE interested, he IS interested and we WILL make an offer, but nothing has happened yet, we are very much in the early stages.
and lastly, berba has supposedly stopped making requests to leave.
as it stands however, the club have received NO formal offers for keane, nor berbatov, nor bent, nor any other player rumoured to be leaving. this is not to say that players won't go, but at the moment nobody is leaving.
hopefully i can name this source soon, as you will all know of him.
essexyid, why would you name your source?
And having seen the photo's of the lads training on the official website, Robbie looks the happiest of them all.
I believe nothing until the fat lady she sings.
would simply name him in order to get some credibility in what i'm saying! and i'd agree with that, i saw robbie smiling, but i have no reason to believe any other from what this guy tells me - again something i can't really explain without naming him!

i just hope and pray we dont bring daddy long legs back. any news on the DM front im getting worried i now feel its the most important position we need to fill along with another centre back who aint anton ferdinand
Glad you've knocked this one on the head. Completely stinks, H.
