La Porte De Hull

Saturday, 04 October 08, 03:05 PM · Comments (131)

Nessun maggior dolore
Che ricordarsi del tempo felice
Nella miseria.

There is no greater sorrow
Than to be mindful of the happy time
In misery.

You see the clip isn't entirely random. Shearsmith is a Hull boy. Having said that so was Norman Collier. But Wheel Tappers & Shunters is far too close to what we're producing on the pitch. Oh go on then, it's Saturday night and it's you... CLICKY.

The prospect of having the entire Dawson dynasty filling their coat pockets from the apres match buffet has some chatting amiably. But the out and out mediocre nature of our league results that this game is now about the bundle of nerves that Tottenham have become and if they can survive them.

For whatever reasons we failed to emerge from the debacle of the last transfer window with much dignity. And now you can forget any idle talk of the enemy within. The enemy is very much at the gates and our situation potentially so brittle that that Hull are as a good a genuine threat as anyone. Make no mistake.

Hull are ready and able. Their plan is to come here and not force a draw or nick it, but out play Spurs and win. Ask the mob at Woolwich if you think I'm too quick to stand on a chair, clutching my skirt and call 'mouse'.

King may even play a cameo part tomorrow. That's the word. Medical schmedical. Hutton we will miss more so than ever. Woodgate will need to marshall his remaining wards and be effective about it.

Dare I point out the obvious but we really do need to see some push and run tomorrow. I cannot ever recall having any class of conversation with a fellow fan where 'hoofing' was greeted with anything other than exasperation and eye rolling. Modric will need to play his part convincingly.

There are no cure for nerves. Not in the modern game. The trick of dropping a wee 'nip' in your tea before kick off doesn't really cut it these days, so we'll need to find our resolve from elsewhere. Maybe we can help.... CLICKY. Go on the Sugar!

So then, young Pavlyunchenko. Let's see some spirit son. And be it Bentley or be it Lennon, let's get some value out of those damn crosses.

Can we beat this lot?

Yes. Of course we can.

Will we?

See you ringside.

We have started to get used to losing. need to break that habit very soon.

I wonder of Woodgate is going to bundle over their keeper every game? How daft is he? Good defender- but daft.

Thought Graham Roberts/Sir Alan Sugar on ss news/football focus made some good points earlier the players need to stand up and make an account for themselves they need to be told in no uncertain way to get on with the job they are paid hansomeley to do, so without going into a Joe Kinnear lets get it right this sunday and get the job done, Ramos will stay and do it his way, just like Frank S sang I did it my way, lets get behind the team tommorrow, no booing or lame chants, this is our team and i for one will be right f-ing behind them, my prediction 3.0 COYS!

Regarding the forthcoming match, as Bollo would say... "I've got a bad feeling about dis". Draw?

Tony_Spursano,

Is your chosen nom de plume a nod towards Tony Soprano, of The Sopranos, or Tony Sparano, the Miami Dolphins Head Coach? I'm anticipating the former is more likely, but I do know a Dolphins fan so it wouldn't be entirely shocking if it were the latter.

As my mum used to say "When the going gets tough the tough get going".

This is an opportunity for Ramos and all our overpaid players to show how good they are.

Not all the team are playing badly or lacking in confidence. Gomes, Lennon and Zokora for a start all seem to be up for it but the key for me is Modric. If he picks the game up by the scruff of it's neck we will take some beating.

This boy is quality I have no doubt he will soon demonstrate it by the bucketful.

I hope you're right, ODM. I expect to see a hungry team with a point to prove. It'll probably be Hull City.

I agree with your assessments of Gomes, Zokora and Lennon. At least they try. If that wetwipe Jenas is in the starting XI I fear the worst though.

Just got back from Poland and for the first time in a long time, I'm not looking forward to going tomorrow.

Unless we play with pace and skill, a draw at best. We've simply no fight in the team.

The chant of 'You're shit, but you're birds are fit' made me laugh until I realised we're actually worse.

regarding wisla i would rather see energy jenas restricted and modric let off the reigns, nothing against jenas..."i love referees, put another round in my jukebox baby"....he says in defence of little mod, sleep easy.

I think it's mostly the ineptitude of those around him but he can be very dangerous in and around the opponents penalty area.

He's probably the only player at the club who could play that inch perfect slide rule pass that Bent obviously requires to score.

On another plus point, Jenas must be due his one in six.

Jenas is due a kick up the Arsenal. How much longer can he get away with these invisible performances ?

Maybe the whole team would play better without him ?

This could be the make or break for us. We've got Hull, Stoke, Bolton - if we do not get at least 6 points from these three games we are going down.
After that we've got Ar5ena1, Liverpool & Citeh (I think).
The time to stand up and be counted is now, in a month's time it'll be too late. All the stats say teams in our position at this stage of the season go down.
Worrying times fellow yids and yidettes,

Now is the time to run through brick walls for this club (a la Roberts), we should fear nothing but fear itself and we should play with passion, power and pace.

Remember 'We are Tottenham, we are Tottenham, super Tottenham from the Lane'

This is our manor, no more rolling over etc etc etc......

No Tranny's fine, so is saying someone has Aids or calling them gay. However use of HIV in any internet post or song's on the terraces is just not on. Use of this word will result in full page spreads by Brian Reade in the Mirror. Also 'hanging from a tree' is a racist comment and is not allowed, hissing noises made by fans to imitate gas chambers as a pop at our Jewish fan base is fine though, as is monkey chanting in Eastern Europe.
Please make sure you all adhere to these rules in future both on here and when watching Spurs or you will be prosecuted.

Thanks. ;)

There will be a click today at The Lane. It'll either be the sound of the team operating as a team - or it'll be Wendy double checking his door locks before pulling out the gates.

Can anyone shed some light on the ledderz situation please????
He can't play for than one game a week if he's lucky and he needs a medical after every bloody training session. Now if this is going to be a permanent occurence, surely we need to cut our losses and get a decent partner in for woody so they can form a solid partnership. Don't get me wrong I love ledderz but can't help but wonder how we will ever be a consistent team without the sort of regularity man utd have with rio and vidic chelsea with terry and carvalho.

Hopefully my fears will be allayed about our fearless leader but i'm not so sure....anyway enough doom and gloom, 2-0 today...bent and campbell another super show from gomes too!!!COYS!!!! :D

come on Spurs ye can do it.. the fans have been excellent until they decided to boo the lads off at half time..

For the way we treated Jol, sold our best players, didn't replace them - we deserve to be where we are. LEVY, Commolli out now!!! It's time we fans stand up and be counted - our only hope is to force ENIC out and get a new buyer in. The only place we will go with this leadership is Division One.

Ok. I'm beyond gutted, but I'll try and repress those feelings that I know emerge from this mix of anger and pain that is watching our beloved football club at the moment.

This is a question to those who keep writing such eloquent posts and articles about patience, many of which a large part of me agrees with. The question I have got to put to you, is just how long do you propose we are patient for? The trouble with losing is that it is a habit, a habit that sometimes only a shock and dramatic change can end. Here's the question, are we prepared to take 3 steps back to go 1 forwards? Because in all honesty, with this form and the weight of statistics, we are in a desperate fight for our premier league future. Should we keep Ramos even though he may end up taking us down?

How long do we keep praying and showing patience for? How long until even the most 'sensible' of commentators realises that we are in serious danger of being relegated? If this form continues until Christmas, we are gone, just as Derby were last season. Please, I'd love to hear from the optimists with something approaching a rational argument because I can't...just can't...see one anymore for patience.

Totally agree mate, the board are the cause of our problems. We sold our best players - Carrick, Keane, Berba - what did we get in return? Inferior players so that the club could make a profit.

I have to say that I do worry about Ramos - baffling decisions playing players out of position, his difficulty with the language etc.
We have made too many knee-jerk reactions as a club over the years, but this is fast becoming humiliating.

Oh, and one thing that I thought it worth reminding people. I've seen a lot of comments like "If Ramos goes, Comolli has to as well", but I remember Ramos' appointment, and it being made quite clear that Ramos was Comolli's man, Comolli's recommendation and the responsibility for the sucess or failure of Ramos' tenure rested with Comolli. I am sure if the step is taken of replacing Ramos that Comolli will go with him; in any case I am sure his position is growing untenable at the same rate as Ramos' is.

I've personally nothing against Levy, apart from his perseverance with a DOF system and a man in the position that has time and time again proven his incompetence for the role. Regarding Ramos, I still think he's a good coach - I wish we had the luxury of affording him time to build the squad, but not at the expense of relegating us. I can't see another option but to replace him, and pray for better luck and more time allowed for our new manager.

So...
Another defeat. We at least took the game to Hull, but could'nt make that last ball count. Again. There are many problems at our beloved club, least of all the loss of 2 players that scored 80+ goals across 2 seasons, but there's another thing painfuly absent in my eyes. We're missing a leader.
Ledder's isn't the man for the job and if he isn't Jenas most defininately isn't.
Say what you like about PSB, but the captain's armband was as good as his last season and yes, he comlpained and whined a LOT, but he also shouted at and directed his players, bollocked them when required. He had them in huddle at kick off, making sure everyone knew their job. Where's his replacement? Who in the current squad would you assign this role to? Woody? Not for me. No more than Ledders. I love the guy and I'm very happy for him to be at the club, but I can't see that passion in him. The only one for me is O'Hara - and he's not ready for it. Maybe he'll never make the grade, but by God he loves this club and it shows. Forget a new center half for January. Our priority should be another stiker and a commanding, obnoxious, holding midfield player that controls the game and bosses the squad. Then we might make progress.

Levy has proven record for sacking managers, and I don't think Ramos has too much time left, unfortunately. We need a strikeforce that can create for themselves out of nothing, as God knows our midfield ain't gonna create much for them at this rate.

At least Jenas put in some effort today, just not good enough, but at least he tried. I personally don't rate him, but he was having one of his off days, as his usual game is disappearing completely.

Credit must go to the crowd, they were superb at certain points, and tried to get behind the team. If a goal had come for us, I could've seen us grow in stature, and players would have lost some of the nerves that are constricting them.

Not to be unfortunately.

For god sake, we have no natural goalscorers.

Whos to blame, the midfield for lack of service, or just a below par striking force?

I dont care what anyone says, for a player like Pavlyuchenko to come in and not perform is simply not on. How many games do you give a striker who looks like he couldnt score in a brothel before saying he officially cant cut it?

Thank fook I couldn't get sopcast working, another pile of cack.... The way Ramos has been chopping & changing the side all season, he is largely responsible for the form of our side, or lack of it. Persisting with square pegs & Bellend Eccunto has cost us dearly already, & don't bullsh*te me with players need resting, after 8 poxy league games???!!! (King excluded of course) Poor dears, lets hope the old credit crunch ain't affecting them too heavily.. We should have been fielding our strongest side in the league with our "top" :-| players in their natural positions from day one, that's if champs was truly our ambition, we're not exactly Man U for depth are we?!!. I love King, but should have faced facts & bought a replacement this summer, not a squad player (ie Corluka). I've had a few friends laugh at me for saying this, but it was nice to hear Graham Roberts back me up on setanta, bring in Ronaldo. If he's getting fit as rumoured, pay the man a wage, he's not contracted & still managed 17 goals before his last injury. Granted a temporary measure, but it'll bring with him a much needed lift for the side, & probably good for youngsters like GDS to learn from. Even if it's only til Jan. We gotta sit at the bottom for another two weeks now, two weeks of humiliation, thanks. If it's gonna happen, Ramos should go early this week, bring in Venables for his man management skills & groom Poyet for the hotseat. Comolli, get that sh*tbag piece of arse scum as far away from our club as possible please. Rant nearly over, but WTF didn't we buy a decent holding midfielder this summer while I'm at it?? Jesus, talk about meltdown, league over after less than a quarter of a season. What were the odds on that one please?!
