I very much doubt Berbatov would sign for Citeh. The whole reason he's thrown his toys out the pram and downed tools at Spurs is to "achieve his dream of playing for Man Utd" so why go and sign for Citeh?? The same Citeh that struggled to get through the qualifiers for the UEFA cup????

Mark Hughes has told Sky Sports News that Spurs have accepted Manchester City's shock bid for Dimitar Berbatov.

The Bulgaria international has been a target for Premier League champions Manchester United throughout the summer, but City have now stepped in with an audacious last-minute move.

City's offer for Berbatov is reported to be in excess of £30million and would set a new British transfer record.

Hughes revealed that a fee had been agreed with the North London club and he now plans to hold talks with the talented striker.

Hughes said: "I'm as stunned and excited by this as the fans are."

would love it if the whole "verbal agreement" with United was really in anticipation of a bid from City. Like another poster said, we backed off after the earlier Corluka incident. Perhaps we had some inside indication that there would be a takeover and Hughes was interested in the Squirrel-feeding Bulgarian. This could of course all be fantasy, and he might be wearing the red of United by midnight. However, it makes me feel good to think we might possibly give Berbatov and Fergie a real shafting.

Of course Berba needs to agree but if Utd don't increase their bid he's stuck with City as his only escape route!

I am sceptical on Huntelaar but I think if we are selling Berba to City for £30m+ then we have to bring someone in who is not only a big name but also a player who will score goals. Huntelaar IMO fits that bill superbly.

I just really hope/think we need a big signing to make-up for selling Berba (YES i know he wanted to leave!) But he still needs replacing by a top notch player.
