Bitte, Mein Herr? No, Löwenbrau, Please.

Luka Podolski then. If the chloroform hadn't worn off before we'd had a chance to get him past Airport Security some of us would have had him at the Lane a good while ago.

A tremendous shot and an array of quality link up play about him that if say, ooh I don't know, partnered with Keane we'd  be on for some real magic. And No, he is not a straightforward Berbatov replacement. Deeper roles undertaken by this chap I would say, it's just he has an added ability to come in and relentlessy score.

These days his star, certainly domestically is a little less shooting than it was. Competition from Toni and Klose often leaves him as Bayern's third choice striker. That said, this is a pretty a similar disgrace to being that of Manchester United's.

Negatives? For one, possibly our old mate Jurgen. The word 'mentor' springs to mind quicker than 'travel-agent' and so I would expect him to want the boy to stay rather than be busy faciltating his departure. Another is Juventus. Apparently they feel the same way about him.

The story eminates from express.de with the player simply responding, "That's interesting" to the suggestion that we/Juve are sniffing and bidding. So if this is merely more botty air from an agent or kosher I cannot tell you. What I will repeat is that given the security clampdown on leaks, the disinformation that's been fed to established sources and our recognized intent we are almost running out of players that we HAVEN'T been linked with this season... but it would be nice to get him all the same.

Id love him at the lane. One of few players that would Instantly impact on the premiership for his pure drive and goal mouth aggression.

Fair chance he'll miss the quarter final as he's injured his calf muscle. That'll go on top of his previously reported ankle problem. Is this a new strategy by the board, to look to buy players at a cut price because they are carrying an injury? ;-)
Not suggesting he isn't decent, but my gut feeling is I'd prefer some of the other forwards we've been linked to, and as of now have not yet signed. We may get a chance to see some more of Sergio Garcia tonight. Or simply see him, if you haven't already.

Buahahaha what a retort Blog...might want to work on those.

Postiga played in Portugal which is a relatively lightweight league compared to The premiership. The premiership is much more physical defensively, and therefore nullifying his qualities. Shame we couldnt keep him shtum at the euros four years back, Podolski plays against far tougher defenses, and he knows how to hit the back of the net, as well as mix his fellows into the game.

I say if he is willing to sign, bring him in.

Someone's mother doesn't know he's on the computer again.

Still here, ODB, crapping in my sleep. It's tolerable. It's the occasional waking myself up with farts that's a bitch.

Signing Podolski would be an error. One Luka/Lukas in the team is enough, as the Two Jermaines Project proves. One of them seldom got on the pitch and the other you seldom know he's on it.

What's the deal on the club's sale, H? I'd like to say the latest rumour of a potential purchase is just newspaper-talk but, as the report comes from the Mirror, I'd be telling a lie, as the Mirror isn't actually a newspaper.

I think the guy has a great finish but he's just one of a hundred odd strikers we've been linked with. As much as I like the odd discussion RE strikers I'd much prefer seeing us linked with a decent keeper (NOT Gomes or Hart for various different reasons).

Podolski would hardly be a bad pairing with Keano and Bent in reserve. A lot stronger than the two of them in the air and for holding up the ball.

Meanwhile who the fudge was that irritant BlogHead? Other than someone who was obviously dropped on his head repeatedly as a child...

Come on guys, stop chatting rubbish, ruining the post!!! And as for Podolski, is a decent striker but 9 goals in two seasons at munich, think we're taking a bit of a risk there, especially if we buy him as a berba replacement and look to him as our knight in shining armour?... Milito would be a far better option hes in the berba mould and could see him getting over 20 goals easy!

Nine_Thirty-Seven

I'd imagine £250 million is way shy of Levy's 'End Game' figure. And this Dubai mob are the same lot who passed on Manchester City.

Just out of interest here are some who bought similar items recently...

Aston Villa: Owner Randy Lerner inherited the MBNA credit card fortune.

Chelsea: Roman Abramovich bought Blues in June 2003. Made fortune in oil.

Fulham: Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed is 75.

Liverpool: Owners George Gillett & Tom Hicks.

Manchester City: Thaksin Shinawat ra, 5 8, took ownership in July 2007.

Manchester United: American Malcolm Glazer, 80, inherited his father's wholesale jewellery business.

Portsmouth: Owner Alexandre Gaydamak is a friend of Roman Abramovich.

West Ham: Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson has owned Hammers since last December.

What is funny is that old Thaki wants to lose the boat from the City Club crest and replace it with something to signify greater solidity. A boat being seen by him as something that might drift on the whim of the moon and the wind. *smirks*

His country's fave, an elephant is mooted. I'm heading into Not On Your Nelly territory so I'll leave it there.

Gracias, H. Every time I see another story linking us to a buyer who patently has no interest in football, the club and its traditions, or Tottenham the place I get more and more dismayed. A time will come when older fans are driven away by the sight of these hogs scoffing at the trough of the people's game. Sometimes I think a critical mass must be on the point of being reached; but then the figures just keep on expanding.

As fans' wages get lower, players' get higher, and attendance more expensive. There's only so much merchandise a punter can buy, and its all made at rock-bottom prices in some sweat-shop or cultural and professional cul-de-sac. This would all just collapse, were the markets not being pushed ever more widely. Hence the annual 'tour' of Africa or wherever - supposedly acts of charity and goodwill, but really just opportunities to sell the nicotine of football and create more addicts. And the players, useful idiots that they are, make willing accomplices, as supposedly enlightened young men.

It would all look horribly bleak, but for the fact that France lost.

Great site Harry

Not too sure about Podolski. He had his chance when Klose was out injured in the spring, and he failed to deliver anything worth noticing. And this for a winning team bulldozing every everyone in the Bundesliga. Spend the £15m to give Berba raise and a haircut instead.
