Make no mistake, the team selected by Mariachi Man was an error of judgement and has cost him this competion. By contrast, Redschnapps sidesteps another potential banana skin and compounds his reputation as the Miracle Man.
Another game where the energy, the resilience and desire of Tottenham shone through. Our counterattacking was swift and largely unforgiving. This Liverpool tean wasn't the best, but we played who they put before us and we did 'em by two clear goals.
Huddlestone was exciting to watch. His ten yard passes were as useful as his twenty yard ones. We were dying for him to shoot.
So we survived. More than survived. When 'Arry took over we faced an immeadiate run of Bolton, Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and naffing Liverpool again. Who could have predicted just how well we would account for ourselves? The next league run consists of Fulham, Blackburn, Everton and West Ham.
BIOYC!
Gomes 5 Fearless and nuts. Let's hope BJ and Honeycut can fix him up.
Cesar 7 An outstanding save. Didn't look too shoddy at all.
Corluka 8 Calmer than a calm thing, more composed than an art student's picture of a bowl of fruit.
Hutton 6.5 Not outstanding.
Bale 6 Needs to get a plan. This one isn't entirely working.
Dawson 6.9 Looked re-invigourated and about 100 IQ points better off from his last appearance.
Zokora 7.5 This guy does impressions! Last night it was a 'Defensive Midfielder'. Astonishing gig.
O'Hara 7.2 Grafted.
Huddlestone 8 MOTM. Looked terrific. Creative, hard tackling and deserved a goal. Wunderbar.
Lennon 7.5 Motored all night.
Campbell 8.1 Intelligent kid. Ran all night and took advantage of a second rate Liverpool.
Pavlyuchenko 8.1 Doesn't muck about. Supercalifragilisticromanpavlyuchenko [repeat til fade...]
Boateng 7 What was that Madness lyric? 'Bring back the Prince..' Looked very useful.

I have come to the conclusion... Corluka is Mint Gravy! OK Torres wasn't match fit but it must of been hard trying to play when firmly embedded within Corluka's pocket!!! Other + notes were both forwards looked good, Lennon's crossing was bloody good, Zok worked his socks off and the Hudds range of passing was quite simply awesome!
What a turn around!
Fantastic performance, everyone worked their cobblers off. Zokora, take a bow, Corluka, likewise and Hudd... my boy, you are a star. More please.
On another note, who is that man in the no. 3? It isn't Gareth Bale I'm sure of that? Is there a simian-esque imposter wearing the LB shirt?
Events of the last 2 weeks have made Ramos and Poyet pretty much unemployable, in England at least. Not sure if this is good or bad; would love to seem them take down, uh, Newcastle for example.
The win was more important than the cup itself. The longer we can keep this momentum going the better, and another win at the weekend should see us get a little breathing space over the drop zone

Banger - What game were you watching Lennon's crossing was crap, he set one goal up, but the rest of his crosses sailed over everyones head time and time again.
Apart from that I fully agree with you

It’s a probable bet:

When the game brings you cheer
Like you've had too much beer:

Bells'll ring
Ting-a-ling-a-ling
Ting-a-ling-a-ling
And you'll sing "Vita Roman";
Hearts'll play
Tippi-tippi-tay
Tippi-tippi-tay
Like a victory omen.
When the goals make you drool
And you spank Liverpool:
Pavlyuchenko;
When you dance down the street
With a cloud at your feet, you're a Yid;
When you’re searching for rhymes
And you think of a drama called ‘Tenko’,
'Scusami, but you see
Down the Lane that’s Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Last night Lennon put in more decent crosses than he has done for 2 seasons. That's progress in my book.

nigella's looking good but have you noticed how all the recent photos of her only show her top half? all this ice cream is turning her into a bit of a bunter, with an arse bigger than andy reid's. they obviously couldnt find any spurs shorts in her size. if she gets any bigger she might make a more effective goalie than heurelho. seriously, hope the Hudd can keep this form up - he's suddenly turned into a real player!
When Harry Met Scalleys (the sequel)proved to be even better than the original.
Sure they might moan that this was there second team and they couldn't give a monkey's about the League Cup, rah rah rah, but we all know this is B@ll@X- lets get one thing straight, with Modric, King, Bentley and Bent missing, this wasn't our first choice side, and any team likes a trip to Wembley. We're the holders so lets take it seriously (which we did). Huddlestone was immense and Lennon impressed me with his final delivery. Whatever 'arry told Didier, "play like Diarra"...etc. It worked. We hassled, we harried, we wanted it, COYS.
Loved 'arry's comment about becoming a new grandfather, "Jamie's not 'appy with me, he's called his kid Beau. Beau? I was born in Bow." I am falling in love again

We absolutely destroy Liverpool and you only give our MOTM an eight? Harsh.
I bet everyone is hoping that they don't draw us in the next round.
Am I a optimist or pessimist when I worry about the big four going out of the competition at a frightening rate and thus possibly denying us a place in the UEFA via the league this year?

What flavour Ice cream? Surely it's Ben & Jerry's "Fish Food" (or phish food)?
On a side note, I do wish Jenas et al would stop harping on about top four, Champions League, etc "we are focusing on getting into the champ League". Try bloody focusing on the next match instead and stop talking us up! Have they learned nothing? Actions speak louder you know.
Absolutely outstanding performance, great to watch, 97 minutes absolutely flew by!
Here's my ratings (for what they're worth!)
Gomes - the guy has a split personality, reminds me of grobelaar, makes some iffy decisions but he is definitely worth persisting with, i have faith in this one. May cost us a couple games, but will keep us in a lot more. 6
Hutton - looks good striding forward, but get the sense the rest of the team are expecting him to lose the ball, as they don't seem to moving off him, 6.5
Dawson - Imperious in the air as always, shame he moves like newborn foal! About as useful as tits on a goldfish! Didn't have much to do in all honestly, which gave the impression that he played well, dont be fooled! 5.5
Corluka - class! Anyone who can marshall Dawson and keep him out of trouble for 90 mins deserves a medal! Him and Woodgate should form a solid, formidable CB pairing for years to come. Great on the ball, no nonsense, quality signing. 7.5
Bale - thought he played much much better. Some of his crossing was superb. A step in the right direction. 6.5
O'Hara - I like this guy, aint exactly blessed with natural ability but does a job. Has a knack of popping up in goal scoringh positions too! 6.5
The Zok - Energy, pace, drive, such a shame he can't play footie, really thought he was gonna score last night then scuffed the shot! 5.5
Huddlestone - utter, utter class! Ran the show! Just a little bit leaner to get a bit quicker over 1st 5 yds would be superb. Vision was, as always, class. 9
Lennon - definitely improving. Needs to be able beat the man on both sides, cos good full backs (i.e. not Dross-ena!) will be waiting for him to go right EVERY time! 7
Campbell - What a lift! Intelligent, pacy, holds it up well too. 2 good finishes as well. I think we have 3 very strikers who can all play together, whatever the pairing. 8
Pav - my word this chap strikes a ball well, with either foot! Worked tirelessly, settling nicely. 8
Trembly's just showing off now. But I like it.
I sat in a pub watching the game surrounded by Liverpool fans, squealing that we were only dicking their B team.
There were two issues I had with this:
(a) we can only play what's in front of us.
(b) it was hardly a first home team put out, with Modric, Jenas, King, Bentley, Bent, Woodgate all missing.
Add to this latter, Hutton and Bale doppelgangers seem to have been fielded once again instead of the real wingbacks who have presumably been bodysnatched.
Nunchucks No Likee:
Wingbacks mystery. Someone call Scully and Mulder. Fast.
Set piece fiascos. We're already working on this, and have been since Sir Harry took over. So why do we continue to show as much defensive nous as a puppy in a sack on a motorway? Nobody at either post on corners or free kicks, the merest homage to man marking, and half assed jumping to clear aerial danger because no one knows whether they might be met with the flying fists of Gomes. A cause for concern.
Pavlyuchenko. Because he reminds me of the time I went to buy a winter coat, but the coat I wanted was sold out, so I bought a cardigan. And never wore it.
Oh, and Gomes. A gorgon at PSV, he impressed my socks off. I remain a staunch supporter, but my patience is wearing thin.
'cking catch something, dude. That slow motion daisy cutter that came right at you in the 70 something minute. Surely a GCSE Goalkeeping scoop-up, right?
No. Spill. Then pounce on spill.
Epic fail.
From Russia with love, I fly to you
Much wiser since my goodbye to you
I've travelled the world to score
I must return
From Russia with love
I've seen places, faces
and a smile from Roman
But, oh, we loved you so
Still, the defenders you've crucified
Would not let my love for you show
In case you'd say "No"
To Russia I flew but there and then
I suddenly knew you'd care again
My running around is through
I'd fly to you
From russia with love
Romanes Eunt Domus?
People called Roman they go the house?
(I'm loving the daisy,daisy..I mean Fraizy, Fraizy tune)...and have added a second bit:
"
..inflicted some perm’nent damage
that ‘Pool boss is a cabbage
You use both feet
And work a treat
In a strikeforce that’s made for two
"
Thudd is fast becoming one of the best passers of a football I have ever seen! And i've got to give Dawson some credit because that boy can ping a lovely corner to corner pass too. A couple of times yesterday he hit 80 yard passes perfectly! All in all a good performance and the Spurs go marching on!
Off to Fulham with stacks of confidence!
Tasty, tasty, very very tasty. We're very tasty!
It appears that when the team performs well on the pitch, the quality on here is through the roof. If I may, my scores on the doors:
In 4th: Bimi's SupercalifragilisticRomanPavlyuchenko. A higher placing would have ensued had lyrics to the full chorus been given.
In 3rd: Taking the Bronze: Grazza's "From Russia with Love". Romantic and old school, just like 'Arry.
In 2nd: It was a close run thing because the quality is so high, but first runner up is 9__37's "Pavlyuchenko" (to the tune of "That's amore"). The deciding factor was that this tune's been sung before for some bloke called Zamora, and that the eventual winner (in my books) was so catchy I'm still singing it...
1st place: Taking the title of the 'This-must-be-sung-on-the-terraces-as-long-as-we've-got-him-and-he-does-the-job-and-might-think-about-staying-and-ditching-manure" song of the day, Nun's "Fraizy, Frazy". Quality.
Honourable mentions to:
huddsthedaddysauce for his "WARNING!, may contain Anchovies." Naughty, but nice
Spuradona for his ability to link young blud Azza and Torquemada in the same sentence - cultured
!

Frony - An ancient Cornish word meaning, 'to press the wrong key'
Catching 'arry's interview on Sky, my ears pricked up when he spoke of "Fraizer" and "Pavlyuchenko". First name and second name.
I don't imagine 'arry to be less chummy with Pav, so why the informality with one and not the other? A demonstration, perhaps, of his empathy with the fans: don't mention the 'C' word.
A small detail, yes, but more evidence of a manager who appears to genuinely understand the club, and knows what and what not to say.

great result yesterday...and great picture of nigella in her spurs top....levy should ask her to cook at the lodge....if the lads win two in a week as a bonus....it feels like she is tottenham through and through.....
don't want to be negative and i love good young english players coming through but i can't help feeling progressing campbell is a pointless exercise for us....he is a manc youth player not tottenham....unless we have an option to buy...we should send him back in january....bah humbug...and all that...!
Another good display, could really tell the team was working hard, except Mr Gomes must wake up and get those crosses, lets put some garlic on those goal posts, although i do wish him well and i hope we can patch him up quick.
I agree with the rating for Hudd great performance just needs to get abit tougher, he is a big lad but needs to use his weight abit more and be stronger.
I must admit i feel like im going to wake up, it feels like im in dream land.
Lets bring on Fulham and get another 3 points.

Yeah true i agree, we look mean and lean, i wont say the rest. I can't understand why they put them on that diet under Ramos. As for Harry he is a peoples person, he will let them no when they are good and bad, i just hope they don't take advantage of his good side when the honey moon period is over.
I have heard from comments from fellow pro's of the game that he is fantastic to work with, surely we are on a winner with him at the helm and i hope his manager's career can take a hugh leap with us, the only concern in the future is that he will be pinched by the FA for the England job in the next 5 years time.

I really think we need a more general Tottenham tune as at the moment the only really stirring one is "Spurs are on their way to Wembley ". Which has obvious limitations.

How Redknapp worked his magic
Spurs rules under Ramos:
* Restrictions on food served at the training ground, resulting in players sneaking off to a local Italian restaurant.
* Had to stay in hotel at Canary Wharf before all home games.
* On evenings before match days, all players had to go first to training ground to leave their car even if they live in Canary Wharf. Then coach takes them back to hotel in Canary Wharf.
* Ledley King played in the Uefa Cup.
Spurs rules under Redknapp:
* Healthy food at training ground, but no limits on portions.
* Stay at home the night before home games.
* King playing only in Premier League matches.
working and visiting friends. I am off for a night out. Cheers!
ph....whoar!
gap in the middle was a bit like the middle intake of breath when on an exceptionally long roller coaster drop.
A great tome but a bit too intricate methinks for the terraces.
I've always Zokora was under-rated. Maybe he's not the best going forward, but I've always thought he excelled when asked to do defensive muck-work -- like being a straight holding DM, or even when he filled in at centre-defence for a couple of games when King got injured.
We don't really have another player like him at the moment -- I say we're really going to need him down the stretch.
