Spurs In Win Shocker : Player Ratings & Highlights

Friday, 19 September 08, 03:05 AM · Comments (117)

So not exactly a world beating performance but what we call in the business a good start. Man of the match was Bentley. His attitude is very much 'let's bl**dy well get on with it.' Combine this with his ability to occasionally find the net we have a potential superstar on our hands. He and his barman mate Bale are good news, people. Campbell looked excellent and Lennon was in fine form. More please.

Gomes 6.5 Some seem determined to knock him - let's get real.

Bale 6.8 Always a threat. The right stuff

Woodgate 6.1 Much more like it

King 6.0 Last seen having his knee bound in brown paper and string

Gunter 5.9 Alright

Zokora 5.0 God knows

Jenas 6.2 Not impressed with his hands in the air routine

Bentley 7.2 Goalscorer and whipping boy for the oafs at Setanta

Lennon 7.1 Zipped and fizzed everywhere

Dos Santos 5.9 Looked lightweight frankly

Bent 6.9 Hungry like big unfed starving thing

Essou Ekotto 5.9 Alright

O'Hara 5.8 Alright

Campbell 6.9 Very lively debut provided the cross for Benty

Noisy bunch of Poles. It's going to be difficult over there.

I was hoping they could knock-up a quick stadium for us whilst they were here!

I know I've posted this on the other story but:

I want to know which fucking Chuckle sanctioned the sale of Tottenham Hotspur home tickets to Away Wisla Krakow fans?

I spent all night listening to something that sounded like one of those Hitler rallies you see on the History Channel.

Spurs are a disgrace, rapidly falling out of love....

Spurs are like having a stunning cheating missus. You know she's f*cking you over but you love her and you think if you hang around long enough and accept her wayward ways she will eventually love you back. In reality everyone is just laughing at you!

Bentley looked absolutely knackered! He had his hands on his knees after 75 and relied on Zokora's engine (he doesn't have much else) to carry the fight down the right wing. O'Hara looked good in that defensive midfield/ make a nuisance of himself role and maintain that's where he should have been from day 1 of the season.

Those Krakow fans were a bit good! Loudest away support i've ever heard. Good job the shiney rozzers made their presence known in the East Upper half way through the first half because that was a disaster waiting to happen otherwise. Shame on the Spurs 'fans' who boldly confronted solitary Krakow fans after the game.

Sorry HH but can't agree, Bentley was cack. He's a trier I'll give him that, but he's horribly out of form/not fit. When we bought him he was supposed to be the answer to our Set-Piece delivery problems... He hasnt been. Stick Bale on Set-Pieces please Rambo.

Bently a little over-rated by yourself I think, not one of his crosses went anywhere near one of our players. As for Dos Santos, I think at 19 he should definitely be given time to adapt to the Premiership and our team. Berbatov, much more experienced and older took about 6 months.

So that's 3 in 5 for Bent so far then is it? And a good'n wrongly ruled out for offside! Well lets hope that the doubters will give the lad some due (or Jew) credit because i'm sick of all of the negative crap that spews from the misinformed (read uneducated) so called fans and "professional" pundits! Lets not knock 'em until they've had a fair crack of the whip eh! Oh and Burley ...... you ar a tit!

Bentley's set pieces and general crossing were poor but the lad scored a cracking goal and certainly wasn't cack! He's not at his best thats for sure but putting Bale on all free kicks would knock Bentley's confidence and isn't the answer imo!

Good point , lol but I'm sure he will come good on set pieces! Not all of them were total crap, I recall King should have done better with one header! OK so 1 in 10 is not a good ratio but he's settling in and he needs to take all free kicks that are suited to a right footer and once he finds his range Bent, Pav and Fraz will find the net!

Harry you were watching the wrong game - Bentley was woeful. That goal could not hide a truly abominable performance. Dead ball delivery; shocking. Crossing; shocking. Fitness; shocking. Could you not see the pattern? First dead ball - spanners into the first man. Second dead ball - overcompensates and puts ball into orbit. Third dead ball - over compensates again and hits first man. Fourth dead ba- *shoots self in face*

Im not saying hes become a bad player, just out of form, he trained alone with Blackburn, didnt play in their pre-season friendlies, has just been put on our Marcos Alvarez Training and Diet Programme(tm) So needs time to get fit. I'd assume thats why he was on the bench the other day and why he didnt get near the England team last week.

Seems to be a real problem linking the midfield with the attack. To me it seems so slow and laboured giving the oppo aeons to regroup.

With what little Bent has had to work with, he's done more than well.

As long we go through, couldn't care less if one goes in off his arse in the next leg.

Morning Mr Hotspur. I shall be firing up the vintage motor on Sunday, with the cunch of gravel under my tyres, when I eventually get to the end of my drive, I'll head to N17 for the first time this season. Was dreading it, but I think Camp bell has given us a glimmer of 'something to believe in' (as Poison would say). He changed the game for me last night. It does irritate that we're grooming him for United but if that means we do well in the short term I 'll take it. Bent three in three despite himself. I thought Bale was man 'o' the match. Love Bently, but suprisingly inconsistant delivery considering we bought his as an assist machine. Wigan playing well and will be twitching for a crack at us, but I think Pav and Bent, with Cambell coming on at 60mins will be good enough. Gomes is ace and skill despite one F up. Is Led out for next game then? Need to keep the wardrobe on coasters at bay!

Sorry HH, I don't often disagree with you. Did you watch the game on Setanta?

Gomes: 6

Bale: 6 - a threat going forward, but still naive (with a tendancy to watch) in defence

Woodgate: 7

King: 6 - lacks sharpness, as well as fitness

Gunter: 5 - got found out a little

Zokora: 6.5 - not bad, but needs to make more of a contribution; This time round he was an improvement on Gunter at RB

Jenas: 7 - worked hard, albeit with shades of despondancy

Bentley: 7 - some good (the goal obviously), some bad. Was spent (puffed out) come half time

Lennon: 7 - zipped and fizzed, out...

Dos Santos: 6 - was lighweight. And looked inexperienced at this level. Was not the support to Bent Ramos had intended

Bent: 7 - sees too little ball and does not do enough top obtain it. However, when he gets it...

Essou Ekotto: 6 - alright; Tactical sub that allowed Bale to push forward, past Bent

O'Hara: 8 - showed hunger/desire and together with Campbell provided much needed energy and balance (to the side), that made us far more of a threat and ensure the Krakow midfield saw less of the ball

Campbell: 7 - as above (O'Hara); Looked like an effective partner to Bent

In general terms, Krakow aren't a terribly good side (although they do score a lot of goals) and we made hard work of it.

Their fans were impressively noisy and seemed to have procured a section of the West Upper (adjacent to the South Stand) along with groups of seats elsewhere. Thank you Spurs (ticket office) and touts, for ensuring many sat in a commandeered away section, with no Police presence and precious few stewards. What's the point of segregation/sections if you don't enforce them?

Wow, how refreshing to see a player in a spurs shirt prepared to hunt the ball down and play with urgency and determination. If only zokora showed the same desire to break up play then he might one day get a tackle in on an opposing midfielder.

Not sure what the tactic of dropping back onto the goal-line every time the opposition gets the ball is all about. We're allowing teams to get to the edge of our box almost completely unchallenged.

Think we'll come good when the dust settles, but Ramos, Comolli and Levy have made a variety of basic errors so far, which is why it is so disappointing.

Totally agree. Aside from his goal his performance was pretty shocking. His second half delivery was absolutely dire.

I couldn't quite understand Lennon coming off because he really was having one of those rare good games. He didn't rely entirely on racing toward the byline to hit the defenders knees with a shite cross but actually ran through the middle of the park (the advantage of playing a right footed winger on the left - he HAS to cut in).

Bale was looking alright but we can't rely on him to go forward and defend when we have one crocked centre back and one off boil (although Woodgate was far more commendable last night compared to his invisible man technique against Villa).

Also my positive comments go out to Jenas, Bale and Bent for that disallowed goal as it was our best bit of play this year. Bent will score if he is given a chance with some decent delivery.

Aside from that, it was performance that felt like a win, it just felt like we didn't lose.

If he can't cut it against a third rate Polish team (I know he's knee was crocked) what hope is there against the EPLs finest. World class replacement is needed in January, who that could be is anyones guess.

Bilbo I'm glad you said that. We really have to start thinking about a future without Ledley. How can you expect a player to miss three games then be immediately up to speed in the rare match you deem important enough for him to play in? The real worry is that it's no longer about him not being able to play more than a game every other week - by 70 minutes he was dead on his feet, and only Woodgate's last ditch tackle bailed him out when the Krakow striker was clean through. Sorry guys, he's been a great servant, but unless we put him on a pay as you play contract, I think he's a burden we can no longer afford. I'd like to know what you all think? :(

His delivery was inconsistent, but Bentley was not 'cack'. He is another that needs to work on his overall contribution (when we are not in possession) though and certainly his fitness level appears to be way below others in the squad - which contributed (I feel) to his deteriorating performance/delivery in the latter stages of the first and second halves.

Four games in and you're already writing him off and calling for him to be stripped of his set piece responsibilities. What a load of bollocks.

STOP MOANING ALL OF YOU, we should have won 3-1 and put some amazing moves together. Yes, we messad around at the back for the goal, but all in all I think it was a night to be happy with.

We're fighting back from rock bottom with every other team on our backs and baying for blood. ANY WIN is what we needed, and we should have won 3-1. (Typical Spurs to get our best goal disallowed).

I just wish people would stop criticising this, moaning about that, just because it makes them feel big, like they could do a better job.

If you're going to moan about the team we all love, BE POSITIVE ABOUT IT! Everyone's always looking for the negative and it's that attitude that makes it harder and harder to get out of these situations.

Anyone who knows a bit about psychology will know the power of becoming the way you think. - If we keep telling our players they are sh*t and we hate them, then they will play sh*t and we will hate them, if we tell them they are great and we love them, maybe, just maybe, they'll play brilliantly and we'll love them. :D

I'm sorry, but seeing you all write things like:

"Spurs are a disgrace, rapidly falling out of love.... "

"Bentley was cack."

"Bentley was woeful"

is much preferred by:

"saw a bit of what weve been missing of late, guts, determination, and a bit of confidence in ones own ability,"

I mean, Bentley scored the first goal ffs, he can't have been that bad. This is what people talk about when they say Spurs have unrealistic expectations - HE'S NOT GOING TO PUT THE BALL ON BENT'S HEAD EVERY TIME!! EVEN BECKHAM CAN'T DO THAT. How are our players ever going to progress if all we ever do is expect the absolutely perfect thing 100% of the time - they're only human after all.

Everyone's slagged off Wisla Krakow because they're Polish. The one thing they have over us, that people seem to forget/gloss over, is the fact that to them winning is the norm. Granted they win everything in the Polish equivalent of the PL, but they win nonetheless. The've also got players who've played in the CL (albeit just qualifiers) more than we have at this level?

Had we had 4-10 points out of the first 4 games we've played, then we would've been buzzing with a bit more confidence and should've expected a 4-0. But given out 1 out of a possible 12, Krakow was/is a banana skin waiting to happen. Yes we're up at halftime, and we only need a 0-0 to win the next, but they only need a 1-0 to knock us out. Our support is likely to be less than a trickle given some of the seating with 'restricted views' on the away leg which is only going to make it more difficult. Unless of course the planks that are getting on the players backs are the one's to stay at home.

Those that stood out for me:
1. Baler. Should've had more of the ball, and given at least 2 of the free kicks. Perhaps we should send JR a links to his youtube vids?
2. Bent. Took his goals well, and had FC not been offside and had the linesman's contacts not slipped, Dazzler could've been on a hat trick.
3. Lennon. He's getting better. People are just so stuck in the groove about him not having an end product, they're blind to his improvements and impact.
4. Zokora. "What???", I can hear you saying. But the Zok was full of running, did some proper shepherding of the opposition, twisted and turned and ran at the opposition. This is another improving performance. Yes he missed a sliding tackle, but in all honesty there should've been ample backup behind him to stop that ball being dangerous.
5. Gomes. Not called on as much but in my eyes he's a godsend. So much less panic at the back.
6. O'hara - thats why he was in my starting lineups. His and Balers games compliment eachother naturally.
7. FC nice work mate

Yeah, It's not the same one he had 3 years ago.

King Ledder's is brilliant. I'd rather we had him for one game out of 3 or 4 than for no games at all. What I would like, however, to see him help blood in a replacement/cover for the long term. There's a reverence and respect for him in the squad and thats for good reason.

If you'd read my post you Chuckle Boy you'd have noticed that the rapidly falling out of love part was directed at the shambolic and utterly disgraceful selling of home tickets to away fans.

The on pitch performance wasn't great, but we won so job done.

As far as your psychology comment goes, anyone knows that the more support you get the better you are likely to play, so I am still dumbfounded as to why they saw fit to DELIBERATELY (according to a steward and a Met Police sergeant) sell home tickets to away fans.

I am really losing patience with Ramos. He starts with one up front then he takes off the best player on the night Lennon and also takes off our only recognised right back in Gunter and puts the useless Zakora there. He then takes of Dos Santos who should have been taken off instead of Lennon and put the left back Bale in midfield and the even more useless Ekotto at left back. I losing it with our so called world class manager.

By Jove, man. I think I'd think about going over the top of the trenches for you. I'm not saying I'd do it, mind. But if you asked, I'd have to at least give it some pause.

So, through my disenchantment, and inescapable feeling that we'll have to chalk this season up, let me stick on my rosies to comment thusly:

- Say what you like about Bent, since he has arrived, Lennon has undeniably improved. After a typically effeminate mazy dribble, I noted his perfectly weighted left footed cross for the Bentley goal, and I permitted myself a grin like a weekend Dad watching a son he'd no part in raising.

- What's with the Gomes stick? I don't get it. I want to hug him. Magnificent.

- Bent. Stoic. Dare I say, dependable. I don't feel he warrants the fist-shaking currently aimed at him. This perhaps has more to do with his price tag, than his ratio. It isn't his fault it took ÂŁ16.5 fat ones to come here. Right now, of the three lads up front, he isn't looking the worst investment...

Totally agree and i agree with Chirpy's player ratings.

I do however think peeps have a right to complain about the segregation, its seemingly got to the stage where the club is chasing the dollar so hard that they are pimping out our seats like cheap whores. Very disappointing.

Yeah, It's not the same one he had 3 years ago.

King Ledder's is brilliant. I'd rather we had him for one game out of 3 or 4 than for no games at all. What I would like, however, to see him help blood in a replacement/cover for the long term. There's a reverence and respect for him in...

We can't let this situation rumble on, when the game finished King was limping so badly i thought he was going to have to be helped off. it doesn't help the fact that the back four is always changed evry game and we don't have a settled partnership at the heart of our defence. If you look at the top teams they have their partnerships in place but we still insist on bringing King in for a game and leaving him out of the next. If he isn't fit to play in all the games then im afraid we will have to say thank you very much Ledley but you will have to go.

Totally agree. Aside from his goal his performance was pretty shocking. His second half delivery was absolutely dire.

I couldn't quite understand Lennon coming off because he really was having one of those rare good games. He didn't rely entirely on racing toward the byline to hit the...

His delivery was inconsistent, but Bentley was not 'cack'. He is another that needs to work on his overall contribution (when we are not in possession) though and certainly his fitness level appears to be way below others in the squad - which contributed (I feel) to his deteriorating...

Think you read quite a lot into my saying his delivery was dire. It was, there's no denying it.

But I am certainly not writing him off for the season and if I somehow wove between the lines that he should not be allowed to take set pieces then I must be a master of the unwritten word. You pillock. =D

morning lads..

another sub-par performance but we're moving in the right direction..

the bad news: they beat Barca 1-0 at home a few weeks ago..

ok here we go..

GOMES: (7)
an excellent keeper. don't question it.

GUNTER: (6)
i like him but Hutton (and Chimbo for that matter) are better..

WOODY: (10)
just for being awesome. i've so much confidence in the man. see his recovery after Ledley's slip. which brings us nicely along.

LEDLEY: (5.7)
his slip aside he was fairly solid but i can't help cringing every time he moves for fear of his knee..

BALER: (7.7)
class.. i fully expect to see him in a Man Utd shirt next year.. i mean that..

BENTLEY: (7.4)
very good.. made of the right stuff but it now seems he can't cross the ball.. it'll improve though i'm sure..

ZOKORA: (4)
not even going to bother..

JENAS: (5.5)
against opposition like this he really ought to be dominating.. which he did not..

LENNON: (6)
impressive in for the most part..busy and energetic but i get the feeling that he's going to fall over or leave the ball behind him when he's running with it..

BENTY: (6)
Brainless as ever.. hopeless as ever.. !!BUT!! with 3 goals in 3 games i'd better keep my mouth shut..

GIO: (6)
not bad, not great either.. i do think he's the most talented player in our squad and will be unstoppable when he get's going..

C*MPBELL: (7)
in thirty odd minutes of football he has shown himself to be a more intelligent, skillful and clever player than Bent.. for example when Bent was in possession he made a great diagonal run in behind him dragging players away from Bent only for Bent to blast wide.. if we want to keep him (and after this brief cameo it's hard to tell yet) we'd want to try and sign him asap..

BAE: (5.4)
i like him..

O'HARA: (5.4)
meh..

against Wigan on Sunday i would dearly love to see Cameron Diaz and C*mpbell up front..

but'd imagine Bent'll have to play..

re: ramos now I'm not saying I can understand his reasoning behind the tactics he uses, or what factors there are that may force him to making some odd choices. The key difference is that I recognize that he is the more experienced and adept at what he does than I am to criticize what I do not fully comprehend.

re. King. Would you rather Dawson or him in your starting line-up for any game? I'm not saying we have to see him as first choice forever and ever amen, but to say just get rid of now without a suitably bedded in replacement is ludicrous and smacks of bandwagonism.

Good partnerships and cohesive teams take time to build properly. Anyone that doesn't appreciate this should enjoy their downward spiral of self perpetuating anguish.

Bit of a bizarre set of scores considering...I think you are very harsh on Bent. I know the exact point you are talking when we all begged for him to lay the ball off but I'd much rather the lad take a couple of potshots every now and then that result in a corner. The poor lad plays the ball off more often than not only for us to lose possession or pass back to the goalie. Cut the guy a little bit of slack.

Sorry on a mission now with Setanta..... as for that toothless twat Burley, if he said Bent climbed over the defender for the goal once he said it twenty times, what is his problem?? why oh why do we have to be shown on a gooner supporting tv station, might as well be on arse TV or whatever the shit...

Sentiment shared - my letter to Setanta (copied to Spurs)

This is the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to write a letter of this nature, that is how incensed I feel. I am a Spurs supporter and attend many of their home fixtures however last night I watched your coverage of last night’s UEFA Cup tie. The so-called commentary from Ian Crocker and Craig Burley was absolutely appalling. Normally (and incorrectly so) when British teams play in Europe there is an unwarranted patriotic rallying call from commentators and so called pundits in that only one team appears visible on screen. Last night once again that was the case however in this instance it was the home side feeling the brunt of continual sarcasm.

I have supported the club for over twenty five years and therefore I am qualified to know that we are currently lacking confidence as a team and as a consequence not playing to our full potential (last night included). To have this fact constantly reminded about every two minutes or when Spurs lost the ball or when the opposition advanced to our penalty area was in my opinion very, very lazy and at times the commentary was verging on being exceptionally derogatory to the football club. It would appear Mr Burley is unable to forget his Chelsea heritage and Mr Crocker would do well to study Martin Tyler and Ian Darke’s techniques on SKY Sports. When broadcasting football games on TV all that viewers ask for is a balanced, unbiased commentary that focuses on the actual game itself, not a continual reminder of a so-called “crisis” every two minutes or so.

After the match finished it was a case of “good cop/bad cop” whereby it felt ex-players (both of whom I respect) had to repair the damage and spin the story in a more positive light – absolutely pathetic if that was a pre-agreed ploy by the producer/director.

I hope that you pass on my comments to your “expert commentary team”. As you may have noticed I have included the football club themselves on the distribution list to let them know how they are currently being portrayed on your channel. Glancing at the listings, we only appear once again this year and that might sway me to cancel my current subscription.

I look forward to your hearing your response.

At the game last night and think the stewards handled the Krakow fans quite well - there were quite a few of them around us in the East Lower, and they chucked about five of them out, meaning the rest of them shut up - which was important for their own safety.

As far as the game was concerned I thought we looked better with O'Hara on the pitch. Stayed in the same place, kept our shape and allowed us to impose ourselves which is what we seem incapable of doing.

The real problem that I see is too much upheaval. We've not had settled strikers, and the new ones have not had a chance to bed in.

J2S and modric are both very talented players, and will come good - but at the moment, they are trying to adapt to the prem in a team with no confidence - I think we'd be best leaving them both on the bench until the team becomes more settled.

Bentley is proven quality, but at the moment his crossing isn't up to scratch - again I put this down to the lack of confidence in the side, but he is trying and sooner or later one of those balls will find it's man.

Ideally, we should base our team around last nights line up, swapping J2S for Pav, until the teams settles and find some cohesion and confidence. Then we can start introducing the likes of modric, and J2S, into a stable environment, where they're not expected to perform to give us a chance. Unfortunately we might not be able to do this, given the run of games a few days apart.

Let's just hope we find a backbone against wigan - I'd be happy with a 1-1 to be honest.

On the letter to Setanta I think these tw*ts get away with murder.

Maybe only three people email them and they laugh it off, but the point is they need to be threatened with their revenue being cut off.

What I tend to do is send an email in when I'm done with the subscription anyway and tell them I'm NOT renewing because of X or Y.

They only care about subscriptions and if they see that being threatened they will do something.

Not as bad as against Villa though when Gomes fluffed. Last night was not a rout nor even a convincing win, however we looked a bit sharper and most importantly more hungry. We did at time play some well constructed attacking football however they were bloody hard to break down and gio just didn't have the presence (strength wise) that was needed in the ss role. That said i think he's a major talent who will be fantastic for us in the near future.

Here's my opinion on individual performance:

Gomes 7: Solid and reliable just a bit dodgy with the kicking last night. A massive improvement on Robbo though. Hero in the making I feel.

Gunter 6: Was done a few more times than I would have liked but he's young and practice makes perfect. He will be a good no-nonsense defender for us just needs to let the nerves go.

Woody 7.5: Reliable, strong, saved Ledders from embarrassment and you could see how much the king appreciated it. Great purchase.

King 6.9: Still got the passion and confidence to deal with anyone but he's off the fitness and the pace. His days of full campaigns are long gone but he is our great leader and I would not get rid of him for love nor money although I do feel we need a world-class player to be brought in to slowly take over.

Bale 6.5: not at his best, glimpses though. His defending does need a little more work but I have no worries about this boyo. He is a star in the making.

Bentley 5.9: Below par performance but he's proven quality. nice shot with left foot and good to get a goal, plays with passion to be admired but needs to get fitter.

Zok 5.4: Not our answer for DM, he clearly loves spurs and for that alone I cannot dislike him but he is our utility man, nothing else.

Jenas 6: Needed to be more commanding but He is becoming a more consistent performer. He would shine with a more reliable DM.

Lennon 7.7: Improved so much since last season. I thought he was dynamic and effective; great ball inside for bentley's goal. He is working hard and I commend him for that.

Gio 5.9: showed youth and inexperience, give the boy time he is a gem.

C*mpbell 7: I can only hope this boy finds a love for spurs and decides to stay or will atleast help us out of this darkness. Full of confidence...play him juande.

O'Hara 6.9: Didn't see too much of him. though I think he should play Dm; grit and determination to break up attacks. Just what we need. Gets my vote over Zok.

THIS is very interesting stuff.

Well being a genial sort of chap I approached a steward and said:

"hey there, my good man, how come we seem to have some of these Polish fellows in here this evening?"

the steward replied: "Tottenham Hotspur sold them the tickets, we can't remove them"

I said: "Did they sell them to the Wisla fans knowing they were Wisla fans?"

He replied: "Yes they did"

I said: "Cheeky chappies those Tottenham Hotspur folk"

I then approached a Police Sergeant and asked him: "Excuse me sir, would you tell me why you are allowing these cheeky monkeys to sing their songs and play their rough and tumble games with our upstanding supporters"

I was met with the reply: "Your club sold them the tickets, we did warn them, the little scamps, not my problem old bean, kindly run along now"

At one point every single steward in our section of the Shelf Upper had conveniently taken a water break, right up until the big fellows with the hats, shiny coats and whacking sticks turned up. They came back and seemed fairly confident of themselves.

Utter shambles.... this morning, I rang Spurs, Ticket office claimed that they didn't knowingly sell the tickets to Polish fans... must have been a lot of Gregorz Smiths around and the Customer Service department on first hearing my complaint even denied that there were any Polish fans in the home crowd.

I am firmly convinced now that we are being run by either

a) A bunch of Chuckles

or

2) A bunch of money grabbing, conniving gangsters.

What say you Mr H?

Ps... Do you like my name?

Surely members get first choice of all tickets, only unsold ones go on general sale.

If members don't buy all the tickets are the club supposed to be like Chelsea and refuse to sell them to people with "different" surnames?

There are terms and conditions of sale and they can eject people, but not for the colour of their shirt.

There were Villa fans among Spurs fans on Monday but they tended to keep themselves quiet, the real objection is that the Polish fans supported their team.

Who knows there are plenty of Polish football fans in London maybe they were even members and support Spurs against other English teams.

Chances are cancelled subscriptions from SPurs fans = less Spurs games.

At the end of the day they can only mock teams that are dire and deserve it.

less spurs games on setanta..however would we cope.... no burley, no scouse tosser mac, no sherwood or ferdinand, no rank commentary... reaches for the cut-throat!!!

Originally my point was that the club sold tickets on general sale because members had not taken up the full allocation.

That means we as members have some blame in this because we didn't buy tickets.

Having sold tickets the club should eject people who deserve to be ejected. Personally if I had been there I would not necessarily have been intimidated by some noisy away supporters, peoples sensitivity to away supporters varies from person to person, fuck me I stood in the North Bank with a Tottenham scarf on and was not intimidated by anyone, but if they were out of order they should have been slung out.

I don't know why but I have always felt that Tottenham Hotspur and it's supporters have always had a less prejudiced outlook than other teams. Is that such a bad thing?

HH, i am a true supporter but starting to get concerned with team and sub selections and the way we are approacing games from the kick off.

Reply to esspee:

Harry you were watching the wrong game - Bentley was woeful. That goal could not hide a truly abominable performance. Dead ball delivery; shocking. Crossing; shocking. Fitness; shocking. Could you not see the pattern? First dead ball - spanners into the first man. Second dead ball - overcompensates...

I agree with esspee. Bentley was well below par on dead ball delivery and his crosses every time but once were duds.

calebray - your posts always interest! long ball is not the Tottenham way and I always view it as a sign of desperation, unless to initiate a quick counter attack.
