The Juande Ramos Caption Competition

Sunday, 21 September 08, 08:18 PM · Comments (89)

Well let's face it there aren't any highlights to show you and even reports from those who actualy attended this afternoon's footballing feast are a barely issuing anything more profound than 'it was boring' or 'we're in trouble.' MOTD is only a few hours away and I'm not sure if I can survive the anticiption before we're inevitably served up as a three minute filler. The novelty... 'And finally...' item on John Craven's Newsround, anyone?

buses

What more can I possibly do than offer up a snap that has comedy gold potential? Ramos is pictured with three arms, a man operating him from behind, he's wearing a Norman Wisdom suit and pulling a face that any cast member of On The Buses would have been proud of.

I'm off round Ashley's to buy some 8mm footage of Kemsley playing strip Jenga with the Cheeky Girls and John Leslie.

He looks kinda kinky with three arms, I bet he has fun with those in the changing rooms.

When are we gonna start playing?

Next season in the Championship, if all and sundry at our club do not get their act together very quickly!

And not in 10-15 games time as Ramos has said!

I was at the game this afternoon, we were RUBBISH. Pavlychenko can NOT head the ball, and despite his height neither can Bent. Remember the good old days when Berbatov would delicately collect the ball from 50 yds and turn three defenders without a second thought? Well those days are gone guys! Nut we insist on playing as this long ball game. We have no imagination up front, no running, no one moving into space. Defensively I was very impressed with Ekotto!! Yes I did say that, and Corluka (although slow) was very good also. I've been to 2 games so far this season - Villa and Wigan - I AM NOT A HAPPY BUNNY!!!

I'm reading that BAE and Corluka had good games. I don't like your Pav comment - because it only serves to confirm my suspicion he was a bit not good in the air against Villa ... only one 1/2 games though... :( 8O

Our problems stem from:

* Lack of the manager not knowing his best team, and who he can rely upon right now in terms of the new signings i.e.
-he can rely upon:
-- Gomes
-- Corluka
-- Campbell

he cannot rely upon:
-- Bentley
-- Dos Santos
-- Pav

* Lack of organisation

* Lack of team work i.e not supporting the player in position

* Lack of passing the ball on the ground

* Too much lumping it in the air

* Not enough shots on target or even of target. In fact a complete lack of any shots at all.

* looking weak against the opposition, and giving them the chance to take us on with confidence.

I could go on!!!

selling Steed was barking.

Modric is a luxury we couldnt afford. I cant believe at the end of last season, top of our wishlist was a unproven and diminuative little fancy dan to stick in the centre of our midfield.

Gio? Can even get a start. Good players start.

Corluka is no better than Chimbonda was, whilst being much slooooowwwwwer...

And all Bentley offers than Lennon doesnt is his delivery..oh wait. he doesnt even offer that.

And for some reason I also wish we kept Kaboul. I reckon he has potential that lad.

Yes, it was a pretty uninspiring performance, but there were at least some positives:

Jamie O'Hara was all-action, and added some much needed bite into our central midfield. My man of the match for Spurs.

The Manc with the unfortunate surname looks quite promising. Fate may have dealt us a kind hand there with his last-minute acquisition. We need all the help we can get this season.

Corluka had a much better game than his first one, and maybe his partnership with Woody will blossom given time.

Erm... we kept a clean sheet.

Errrrrmmmm... can't think of any more, but it's a start.

Oh yeah, one more - surely Bentley and Bale can't be that bad again? :)

P.S Did anyone else think the "PeaceOneDay" shirts the ballboys were wearing may have been a subliminal message to our general?

Aside from the airport-sized holes in our defence for their chances, MOTD made us look as if we weren't totally suffocating in our own effluent.

We've definitely been struck down by the vapours tho. And even our chipper bench-skipper Gus makes me worry when he talks about Pav and Bent being similar (too similar to play together perhaps?)

Agree about Judas2 being promising.

Disagree with JGM that Gio not getting on is a problem. He's a prospect. (And a more promising one than today's 6-0'd Kaboul, i reckon).

We're still farting into the wind at the moment - but i reckon we'll ignite at Newcastle. A sputtering flame it may turn out to be - but it would do the job - of illuminating the barcodes past-mastery at turning into a shower of shite ;)

Dire Dire Dire

Bentley and Bale had shockers, Pavlov needs time, Jenas did his disapearing act... I could go on all night folks.

After the Carling Cup we blamed our lack of wins in the premier league on a lack of effort. Now we are blaming it on late transfers (and rightly so). The bottom line is we are shite. I don't want to hear any more excuses.

What I want is an apology from Daniel Levy and C*(^oli. I want them to publicly aknowledge that they have hamstrung Ramos this season and Martin Jol last season. I want them to acknowledge that they care more about their bottom line than building a team. There has been no continuity w/ Tottenham for a decade. And when we threatened to have some, we threw good ol' Martin under the bus. We are laughable. Thank you Daniel Levy. Thank you for being such a hot-shot and selling our best players (Carrick, Keane, Berbatov) just when we threaten to form a cohesive unit. Thank you for being so focused on getting into the Champions League that you shake up the team at the drop of a hat. Thank you for appointing Commoli.

Before I retire to bed this evening I am going to pray that Daniel Levy slips on Gareth Bale's hairclip and knocks out all of his teeth. Then I may allow myself to smile.

2 points from a possible 15 is dire.

But worse still, just look at the stats hardly any shots on or off target = very unlikey to score a goal or even more than one goal.

And unlikely to beat the opposition.

The Club must do something about Bent & Pav, otherwise we will be relegated!!!

Ramos Quote:

I’m delighted to be in London and I’m delighted to be at Tottenham. I’m having a marvellous experience,” the former Sevilla boss said on the Setanta Sports website.

“We need time. Some players came in only just before the close of the transfer window and there have been big changes.

“The crowd made their reaction to the performance at the end and maybe it was just, but I don’t think there is anything personal.

“We must still all work together to change the situation, but it is a big pressure on the players at the moment.”

Start wining games, and we wil all stop booing the team at half and full time.

And you will save your job.

But I fear this is all fantasy, and we will be relegated.

BAE - you are having a laugh! Just when I thought I'd never see the thing-THEY-call-a-footballer again, up he pops! Zokora scared Chelsea sh&tless, but 1 game in 10 where he makes a difference does not a footballer make. The lad must be short a (fotballing) brain! He hasn't a clue. CCup final should have been the last of him when he displayed his total and utter inability to shoot a ball STRAIGHT - giz a bleedin job...! And he turned his back on lazyatov's peno. YES! Turned his back on a peno, not thought of following up, no thought of WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN NEXT. The lad has no football sense. I have forgotten more than he will ever know!

I watched Sunderland play and in a very average game in terms of quality, MAlbranque was so far above evrything else on the pitch, I was for a while sure I was watching th best player on the planet! I watched MAnU, and it seems I was over-estimated Fergie: Berbatov is still the lazy good-for-nothing he was when we had him. Drop Tevez for Berbatov: now there's a travesty of justice not seen since Bubba was thrown into jail for farting!

I like the look of our squad (- aforementioned 2), but me thinks Ramos is a cloWn of the highest order!

Remember when Berbatov first joined spurs? he was so useless that he was dropped to the bench. In other words give Pav a chance.

We kept a clean sheet. good start. and without Dawson the donkey we looked far more solid.

Ramos has finally worked out we need a grafter, and O'Hara didnt let us down. But the problem was, with Jenas, Bentley and Bale playing in midfield we lacked that penetration that Dos Santos/Lennon provide. Still, this for me was the best performance we have played so far this season, despite not scoring.

Bent and Campbell showed glimpses of finding some kind of form. Lennon was sprightly when he came on and is starting to remind us why he was picked for england.

Bentley is struggling, but rather that being awful i would say he is simply average. He desperately needs to work on his free kicks;they were awful.

If you look at our team now compared to only 18 months ago, we fielded

Robinson; Chimbonda, Dawson, Rocha, Ifil; Tainio, Jenas, Zokora, Lennon (sub Defoe, 75); Berbatov, Keane (Capt.)

agaisnt Wigan and got a 3-3.

Now look at our squad now. Only 3 of those players still here. We must realise that this is a new era (again!) and it will take time to gel. i have seen every game this season except the polish game; we are improving, allbeit slowly, but we are.

What is needed is for the fans who go to the games to be BEHIND our team and not booing at half time when we havent let in a goal! This is hardly helping and these fans should fuck off to arsenal.

Why did we spend all that money on the best left back in the world someday to play him on the left wing ? Then there's Gilberto. Then there's Lennon who's playing much better than Bentley left on the bench.

Name the last left footed left winger our squad possessed.

Yesterdays pluses- with corluka and woodgate playing centre half together we actualy looked calmed and composed, and unlike dawson they werent trying to play a 50yrd ball everytime it was at there feet they tried to find space and bring others in to play.Gomes looked like the keeper we saw against chelsea and after the game walked round clapping all four sides of the ground thanking them for the support they showed the team! in jamie ohara we finally look like weve got someone who can win a tackle, never give up and die for the cause. Pav looks strong and held the ball up well just didnt help everywhere he went he was marked by d bent.Bale was good in flashes but still does not look fit! lennon was good when he came on and looks like he knows hes got a point to prove. The rest of team was that poor its not worth commenting, apart from BAE who would look out of place playing for a sunday team!!!!!!!!! Anyway rool on the trip up north on wednesday!

We need to support our team!! We cannot change the players and would be stupid to change the manager. All this talk of players being luxury's and lightweight, well its pointless. These are our players until January at least.
We had lost our two previous home games by conceding two goals. It seems to me that any manager worth his salt would look to tighten up the team first, build on a stronger defence and then push on to win games. So we could easily have nicked this one 1-0. I will be happy enough if we win the next few 1-0 with a few 0-0 thrown in for good measure! In 5 more games we could have 11 points and be unbeaten in 8 games in all competitions!

On a lighter note, when Ramos said 15 games did he mean until the transfer window?

Yes, it was a pretty uninspiring performance, but there were at least some positives:

Jamie O'Hara was all-action, and added some much needed bite into our central midfield. My man of the match for Spurs.

The Manc with the unfortunate surname looks quite promising. Fate...

Great shout on O'Hara and your other points and your ballboy t-shirt joke.

Great post generally. and positive.

Do come again.

I'd like to just say that the only 2 players who stayed out to clap the impressive support were Gomes and C*mpbell. Woody gave a little clap on the way into the tunnel. That was it. Just shows who actually gives a f*ck. Non-stop singing all game from the fans and only 2 players (one of whom isn't even ours) recognise it. We were pretty pony again, but in all honesty if the Pen is given for the foul on Lennon we have 3 points and can move on. It would be papering over the cracks somewhat, but we need a scrappy win, any kind of win will do. Pavlyuchenko didnt win a single header despite being much taller than anyone challenging him, and he still looks a little off the pace. I could go on and on, but I really cant be bothered to drag myself through it again. All i'll say is a repeat of what I heard someone say to his mate on the way home from the game "At least Wednesday we have a chance to prove that Newcastle aren't the worst team in the Premiership" Oh dear.

CCup final should...

If Ramos is a clown, could you please describe the makup he wore when he won the 5 out of 6 finals he contested with sevilla?

Just read Spurs Odius' match report, and I found it more confusing than Ramos' subs yesterday.

"Three minutes later, Spurs had a good spell of Spurs pressure after Bale won a header to get Gomes’ ball."

What?

And one out of one for us!

Morning all.

At this moment in time I believe we've got to just tough it out. The transfer window is shut, Ramos has a great cup record and a decent league record for Sevilla. As such I think just about every Spurs fan would have given his appointment a thumbs up (aside from the way it was handled etc). This means we will have to just pray / cross our fingers / get behind the team and hopefully we will come through this stronger. Come December we will be approaching a transfer window, if by then we are still in serious trouble the board look at it then. Hopfully in Jan Ramos will have picked things up and we will buy according to needs rather than willy nilly half decent players (I still can't see the logic in buying a RM when we had a decnt one and not a LM amongst other moves!)

ps When / If JGM changes his name to RGM I will know we are in the sh1te! ;)

how many top drawer players will come to a club in the bottom 4-5 of its league in Jan?

Arshavin, Veloso, Capel, Huntelaar?

or heskey and Doyle?

Its everybody's fault. Ramos tells the players to keep the ball and play it low, but they all hoof the ball up. Ramos makes Jenas the captain in the hope that fella can up his game and take it to another level, but he did absolutely nothing and only passes backwards. We bought Bentley because of his crosses, but he couldnt cross over the first defender in how many attempts god knows. Ramos looks to the bench and sees bunch of young players who probably cant handle the pressure.

I think the blame game is over. Its everybody's fault.

The DOF for his transfer dealings, the chairman who hire the DOF, the manager who played players in different positions, the players who were given opportunities but still couldnt perform, the media, we the fans who keep dreaming and talking the team up to something they are not, and the 'bigger clubs' for tap up our players.

I think its over. I'll take mid table and a cup or two(Ramos is a cup specialist). We just not good enough in the league for so many reasons. Lets face it.

But hey, born a Spurs fan die a Spurs fan.

Not many! The problem is january is the next time we can buy players. The only options left are carry on as we are and hope the lads sort it out or get rid of Ramos. I think we have to give him time, after all he did win something last season!

On the plus side, we've conceded 7 goals.... The same as Villa who are in 4th. Just need to convert our chances and get Bent and Pav on a run of form and we can kick on...... If only it was really that simple.

What chances??? Granted, i didn't see the match yesterday, but by all accounts we never created any chances to convert in the first place.

It will be interesting to see what team lines out on Wednesday, it's anybody's guess at this stage but if we don't beat Looney Toons we are in serious trouble, if we're not in it already!!!!

I want to believe, i still believe.........COYS :o

We had chances. They didnt go in. Don't believe the media reports. Believe the people that go. Not having a go or anything, but I can recall 3 or 4 decent chances where we could've scored, and thats not including the pen we should have had.

I agree we had 3 or 4 chances so two questions why were none of them taken and why was that all we created ?
