THFC Sold Tickets Randomly

Friday, 19 September 08, 07:26 AM · Comments (164)

Reports have been flying around all morning in relation to the presence of Away fans in Home fan areas of White Hart Lane last night. The Supporters Trust issued THIS. This generic email has come from THFC

Dear Mr Braindamagedidiotwhoputsupwithanything / Valued Cuctomer

Thank you for your e-mail.

Despite the Club’s attempts to locate all locally based Krakow fans in an extended away supporters’ area there were obviously a number of Polish fans who had acquired tickets in home areas for last night’s match.

The majority of these tickets were bought by Krakow supporters through our general sale – and these tickets were not necessarily booked in their own names - while other Polish fans acquired tickets through our own One Hotspur members’ sale as we do have a number of Polish members. Some tickets were also acquired through unofficial means which will be investigated further.

Given the very large Polish community in London, the Club were aware that there was a strong possibility that Krakow supporters would acquire tickets in home areas and we increased stewarding and policing accordingly. A number of potentially difficult situations were as a result safely contained by our stewards and by the police.

We are sorry for any inconvenience for home supporters and thankfully the vast majority of Spurs fans were patient and tolerant towards our visitors and most helped our stewards and the Police to ensure that the evening passed off safely and enjoyably for the vast majority of supporters from both sides.

Clearly, for the future and given last night’s unprecedented situation, we will have to further restrict the general sale of match tickets – and at times I regret that this will also inconvenience genuine Spurs fans who are not registered with the Club in any way.

Regards, Paul

Paul Barber

My point is I understand the difficulties that the club faced in isolating who was who in the purchasing process. And I believe that THFC acted responsibly by organizing additional stewarding and a heavier Police presence.

Unfortunately, when they admitted supporters who were clearly Away fans to Home areas and then allowed them to remain there it was then that they were guilty of chancing their arm for a few quid and putting the safety of Home supporters at risk.

Any supporters who were obviously identifiable as Away fans ought to have been removed from the premises on sight and without hesitation. These fans I am referring to were in full colours and vocal.

It is scandalous aside from all the other rubbish we tolerate that we are now being put at physical risk by these shoddy, bean counting, chancers.

Am I sensationalizing this? No.

Ross Kemp On Gangs anyone?

Levy - This email form Barber isn't satisfactory at all. In light of the mess the team sheet is in having arguably lost our two best players...this doesn't look good. Are things so bad financially that you are reduced to taking ticket sales from wherever they might come? That's the attitude of a small time crook, not the Chairman of this club. These Away fans should have been thrown out, not 'policed'. Why weren't they???

Well being a genial sort of chap I approached a steward and said:

"hey there, my good man, how come we seem to have some of these Polish fellows in here this evening?"

the steward replied: "Tottenham Hotspur sold them the tickets, we can't remove them"

I said: "Did they sell them to the Wisla fans knowing they were Wisla fans?"

He replied: "Yes they did"

I said: "Cheeky chappies those Tottenham Hotspur folk"

I then approached a Police Sergeant and asked him: "Excuse me sir, would you tell me why you are allowing these cheeky monkeys to sing their songs and play their rough and tumble games with our upstanding supporters"

I was met with the reply: "Your club sold them the tickets, we did warn them, the little scamps, not my problem old bean, kindly run along now"

At one point every single steward in our section of the Shelf Upper had conveniently taken a water break, right up until the big fellows with the hats, shiny coats and whacking sticks turned up. They came back and seemed fairly confident of themselves.

Utter shambles.... this morning, I rang Spurs, Ticket office claimed that they didn't knowingly sell the tickets to Polish fans... must have been a lot of Gregorz Smiths around and the Customer Service department on first hearing my complaint even denied that there were any Polish fans in the home crowd.

I am firmly convinced now that we are being run by either

a) A bunch of Chuckles

or

2) A bunch of money grabbing, conniving gangsters.

What say you Mr H?

Ps... Do you like my name?

many sports allow fans to sit together and during major championships this is quite common. the away fans i saw behaved well and it is more of a concern if this aggravated our own supporters. i'm actually pleased the fans were allowed entry. if they were denied entry, the club could have kept the cash anyway.

I agree with Mr HP - I was in the upper shelf last night - and not withstanding all the hooting and hollering in language that sounded like rusty barbed wire being dragged across a sheet of metal - the atmosphere was pretty menacing around the food/bar bit ... I'm no shrinking violet but I expected to feel a bit safer as a home supporter - not surrounded by blokes in away shirts ...

I saw scenes tonight at WHL that I haven't seen for many years.

In the Paxton Upper (family stand) I saw children crying with parents taking them home 10 minutes into the game, I saw people with blood pouring down their faces.

WHY??

Because Polish fans had been indiscriminately sold tickets in all areas of the ground. Not just any Polish fans mind - these are renowned for being the hardest 'firm' in Poland.

The tension was ready to cut with a knife, and I spent most of the game trying to see beyond a wall of police blocking my view.

Before the game I asked the stand supervisor why this had been allowed - and he just shrugged and said that the stewards had been against it.

I spoke to a Police Inspector and asked him why segregation had not been enforced and he said 'Money'.

I deeply resent having to feel threatened in my own seat at my own stadium, The club makes a big song and dance about ground safety - but when it really comes down to it they are not interested in paying lip service to safety, but are more interested in how much more filthy lucre they can stuff in their pockets.

Public Order legislates to allow the Police to suspend the game to allow troublemakers to be taken out, but as usual TV schedules were considered more important than the safety of the supporters.

I have never felt more disgusted at the management. People were literally handing their season tickets back to Stewards and swearing never to return.

I saw similar problems in East Upper and around the ground - but to allow this to happen in a Stand specifically reserved for kids, their parents and the elderley, it is nothing short of a damning indictment o of the state of our club and our game.

I am just glad that my daughter was unable to attend tonight, because I guarantee that the level of intimidation, and the sight of the violence in the concourse before half-time was so great she would never have attended another game.

Levy owes every supporter a full apology - but no doubt he's in his counting house, rubbing his hands together at another full house- and fuck the cost to the kids and the injured.

Having both sets of fans together is a wonderful idea, so is comunism but that doesn't work either.
They should have been thrown out for inapropriate behaviour, to sit quietly in the oposition end, keeping your head down is one thing, these reports are ludicrous.
You can't compare this with the rugby rule of thumb, it's a different mentality.
Spurs need to think about this, they don't need to sell tickets to away fans, we can fill our seats ourselves.

Didnt the ticket office seem to find anything unusual when polish blokes came up asking for "two ticketski for unt eastern standzuhn?"

Old bill were a disgrace, went up to a big group of Krakow fans in the shelf, and instead of telling them to keep quiet if they were going to remain in the stadium, they just stood there as they joined in with songs from the away fans, so in essence the police were standing up there to protect them from any trouble should spurs fans be (god forbid) disgusted that they should have some cunt shouting and cheering right next to them when we've conceded a goal!

Absolute disgrace.

You can't compare this...

It wouldn't have matter so much if I didn't feel like I was in a low budget version of Green Street... the last person that drew their finger accross their throat at me was when I was twelve.... And I copped an unfortunate one after school then.

I was surrounded by a lot of people who looked like Dolph Lundgren with the attitude of a pitball terrier that had just been kicked in the bollocks.

I was expecting that wet sham numpty Danny Dyer to pop up any moment spouting crap about "electric atmospheres" and how there could be a "tear up at any moment bruv"...

I wasn't there so had no idea of what was going on. Irish tv didn't show a thing.
It may be good fun in a movie but it's scarey when you're there and there is no way of escape if it does 'tear up'. Those chairs are tricky enough to negociate at the best of times.
THFC PLC need to send some letters of apology to 30,000.00 people. Nothing less.
I'm really upset by this.

I have to agree with all sentiments ... I havent seen anything like this since the '70s and the club are culpable.
The club put themselves and us the supporters into a situation where something serious could have happenned and then based on the 'English Disease' mentality of UEFA we could have faced a ban on European competition not to mention people getting hurt.

This was truly disgusting ...

Sounds absolutely ludicrous that families were stuck with a bunch of tits who were cheeky enough to be willing to sit with the home fans.

Worse still the fact that general release tickets will be reduced further now which is just a general pain in the arse for those spurs fans who can only make the very occasional game.

The away support in the West Upper were in large numbers (in fact they were in the majority), boysterous and vocal, however (despite losing the game) they were never discourteous, in fact quite the opposite, nor were we in 'genuine' fear for our safety. This however, I would suggest, was down to luck and not judgement. And just as well as there was not a Policeman in sight.

I don't think we (the supporters) should any longer be in any doubt that income/turnover is Lewis/ENIC/Levy's primary motivation and not happy supporters, nor success on the pitch. It seems they are now even prepared to play fast-and-loose with our (their customers) safety. What other business would be allowed to do this? It is nothing short of disgraceful.

Spurs could NOT not sell tickets to the Polish fans once they were for general sale. You cannot refuse to sell to a person because they have a foreign surname.

And who is to say that these fans didnt come in covered up with Krakow shirts under a jacket?

however what SHOULD have happened is that once the polish fans showed themselves in the numbers there were is that the game was stopped and they were escorted out.

but that may have meant refunds.

They should have been refused entry or kicked out when it became obvious. The risk being it woud have kicked off good and proper if they were moved on.
It's hard to call but the cost of a ticket should include public safety, surely a risk assessor should have been used. It shouldn't happen, worries me that we've got to go there next, their place is like a prison. No wonder they still have fencing if their fans are animals. UEFA should be speeking to Wisla and warning them to control their fans.

Who cares if there was away fans in the home area, why are we making such a big deal? We got bigger problem like starving of relegation, this side yesterday was bottom half championship standard and we struggled to beat them. Its going to be hard long season for us.

Are you deliberatly being obtuse? Have you not read the testimony of others, particularly those with children, with regards the violence witnessed.

Funny there was so much violence and none of the papers picked it up? We Spurs fan like to moan and thats what is happening here

That is not what's happening. And the answer to my question (re. you being obtuse) is a resounding 'Yes'.

BOYCOTT you make me laugh, Spurs at the moment need there fans and you lot a talking about not going, Wigan will be a difficult game we need 3 points let get behind our team, or next season we be playing Crystal Palace, Sheff utd etc etc

the chances of us playing CP & SU next season is a real possibility. The point my friend is that the club is just a laughing stock and us die hard fans might not be die hard for too much longer. I was at the game last night and yes there was trouble. Unfortunately ive got bruised & cut knucles to fucking prove it !

Actually couldnt get a ticket for last night's game because the online booking service has been saying for over a week that there were no tickets available. Well apart from half the building trade in london sitting all around the ground!!!! i saw many empty blue seats last night. cant believe they were all season ticket holders and members who just didnt bother to turn up. It seems sometimes impossible to support our club at the ground even if you want to.

Could everyone please shut the fuck up with this relegation flapdoodle.

It's that time of the season where three points may propel a club up the table six, seven, or eight places.

Now I don't want to hear this word again until after xmas.

Afternoon all. Stuck in f*cking meetings all days and come back to see this, seems like some of the rage from last nights game has flowed over onto the forum.

Watched the game last night and there was no mention of any trouble. That said, with the history of eastern european footie fans, someone is sure to know that there would be touble and someone has to be responsible.

I blame Comolli for no other reason than the fact that he is a dick.........

Why are you making such a big deal, because of our fans sitting in home areas? Everything was fine? Did some of Wisla fans hurt yours supporters? There were no riots, as far as i know - so what's the problem and why were you so scared ? Dayer's TV show has nothing to do with the reality. We're not beast with knives, chasing for away supporters lives. We're only supporting our team wherever they go as loud as we could.

So, sorry for the prev. post - I didn't mean to offend you guys.

Thanks for the game, good luck in the Premiership and c ya in Krakow, hopefully :)

Of course. It's so simple. I don't know why I didn't think of it before.

I've taken all the Spurs players out of my fantasy team. If I know Sod's Law, and I think I do, goals should now start banging in from every which way.

So You Think You Can Whinge?

Imagine the discomfort and dismay foisted upon North American viewers yesterday. FUX-TV has the game on live and the chief commentator is this north London gooner twat named Nick Webster. He runs the network's soccer dept. and puts pictures of his mutt-ugly newborn on the net, decked out in full gooner regalia.

Spent the entire game taking the piss. Bentley scores a beauty and he goes all quiet. Plays up every negative angle on Spurs, yet never mentions the thrashing they gave Ar5ena1 last year.

There I am, comfortably sat in my living room, expecting a nice afternoon of watching Spurs bounce back, sipping a snappy little Argie Malbec with some brie and prosciutto on fresh baguette with black olives on the side.

Instead, I'm subject to this intolerable spiritual abuse. Not to mention one of the prettiest goals of the season wrongly ruled out for offside.

I've been battered far worse that someone actually at the game who had to suffer the sight and sound of a nearby Polish fan.

1. Zokora had the ball before they scored and let them take it off him. He kicks it out they don't score. Linesman does his job we have another goal. With a bit more luck we'd have won 3 - 0 and we'd all be happy. Not the best performance but not the worst.
2. How hungry did Campbell look? Got me thinking, this lad comes from a team who are used to winning, they do most weeks. Maybe a few more players from them on loan might install in our guys the winning attitude they seem to have (& this from a Manc-Spur!). Johnny Evans as a CB?
3. Re the trouble, about 10-15 mins after the game someone came on here saying "did they say anything about the trouble on the TV as it was kicking off in the stands" Cant understand why the game wasn't delayed, the percentage of income from ticket sales (especially in one game) is all but irrelavant to total turnover so even if we refunded all those chucked out it wouldn't affect us in the slightest. What would affect us is if someone got hurt, just too much of a risk, especially kids. A much less important factor than H&S is us getting kicked out of Europe if it all went off! Levy very poor!
4. We've had a gash start I know, but someone mentioned the other day if we get 4 points from our next two games we'd have had our best start for three years! (not checked this, too lazy!) Far too early to worry, the power of positive thinking boys. We've got 1/2 a new team, we need time to settle!
5. Ledders - really worried, no wonder we're so sh1t at the back when he hardly ever plays. How do we get a settled back four when he comes in every now and again (& why no CB signed knowing the state of him when we let two CB's go!!!)
Sorry for the lack of posting boys took my son out for the day for a bit of father, son bonding (spent the car journey singing SPurs songs to him - can't have him being a Manure or Citeh fan, or worse Chavski like his mum!) =D

It's highly unlikely he'll stay... he knows that so let's embrace the guy on the right level.

Get some goals off him and we then laugh each other off.

Plan?

Imagine the discomfort and dismay foisted upon North American viewers yesterday. FUX-TV has the game on live and the chief commentator is this north London gooner twat named Nick Webster. He runs the network's soccer dept. and puts pictures of his...

Agree...Webster was terrible. What was up with the video feed too? It looked like they cut out screen from an HD feed.

At least I could laugh at every time he was mixing up the names of our players because he couldn't identify who was who. Happened nearly 20 times during the game.

Everything was this BS about how Ramos the team was in disrepair and how the fans were going to start booing any second now (according to him). From the sounds of things, I'm not sure the Setanta feed was much better though.

Its great that FSC picked up the Spurs game, but its awful having to hear their announcers. I'd rather have John Harkes giving me commentary, than their sh*t pair, at least he makes a point to learn who the players are before the game.

Spurs v Ar5ena1 @ ther lane 5-0 (1981 i think )

Lee that was April 1983 I was there. Standing. I really miss the terraces.

The mistake of letting away fans among the home fans, like we saw last night, would have been corrected on the spot in the terraces.

I'm standing behind you next time.... I'm far to pretty to fight.... Ruffian!! :D

Dude ive been going to Spurs home & away for 25 years. Ive never felt so negative about my club. And to have a ruck at football or anywhere else for that matter is disgraceful but when you get 2 poles spitting at you in the car park you just cant stand back and say cheers for that !

On one hand you want to boycott. On the other you have bruises from having a ruck after they spat at you (first? after you spat at them?other?)

Trouble can be found very easily, and with any sense can be avoided. If the other fans honestly did start on you - without provocation - this should have been your leading comment, in the same way that Henry clearly described events as they occurred from his perspective.

Talk of a boycott is nonsense if not backed up by a clear agenda, with use of evidence to support the cause. The problem is, you don't seem to have a cause, and not being able to clearly express the problems you're facing and your concerns, is going to be a big barrier in your having a successful argument.

If they did start on you without any provocation, then you should've reported this at once to the police and in writing to the club. Would have been useful ammunition to show the police that you had been spat on and have an official report to back up your cries of injustice.

Bent from the penalty spot

and

Campbell F.C. is a late sub, on the counterattack after a long throw from Gomes

That post raises an excellent question. Who are we going to have take our penalties now?

My money would be on Bentley as is cockiest bastard out of the lot. I can't recall Bent ever taking any so far....and Bale missed the last one for Wales...

Zokora anyone? He has to...

I maybe mistaken, but I thought Bent had taken a few in the preseason?

Pav takes them for Russia, so he's an option as well.

I figure they will give it to Bent so he can add to his goal total rather effortlessly, and I'm sure it will help with his confidence a bit too.

Surely they'll give the penalties to whoever is most likely score.

You're right...why didn't I think of that witty retort.

The Ainsley Harriot 'prick with a fork' one gets me every time! stupid c-nut can't even cook!

That's another one jgm is still owed for.

Fcuk me! How much do I owe now?! I don't get paid enough! Fcuk? Shit, there's another one. You don't claim that one as well, to do you?!

I think jgm offers a volume discount if you pay a year in advance and he also takes Tesco vouchers.

Sounds like Levy with our season tickets. :\

Levy, with the amount of cash he's used to embezzling, is strictly a Fortnums man.

He probably thinks Tesco is a Spanish DM that DC has once again failed to bring in.

Truth is we need to go out and kill Wigan.
I don't think you can underestimate the loss of PSB and the Bulgarian.
Few teams can add bring in 7 new players and expect them to gell straight away.

Keep the faith.

I ain't commenting on the wigan game until I get some proper comments posted.

Where the fuck is Jamie & Ginge?

Are they on Harry Krakow's blog?

??????

Jimdobrey! (Sorry my Polish spelling is worse than my English!)

I've been watching DIY SOS with the Mrs, tremendous fun!

Any HH fan must surely know Jaime only posts from work and he's a Monday - Friday 9-5 kind of guy!

As for Wigan, I think it'll be a tough game, Steve Bruce has impressed me immensely with how he's improved them. Zaki looks good from what I've seen and I was suprised more of the Egyptian team weren't snapped up after winning the ACoN (do they have a decent DM - although after Ghaly & Mido maybe we should forget that idea).
Heskey for all the derision is an excellent target man (albeit one who doesn't score enough) and will cause us problems. Kirkland is a quality keeper (when fit). As such we will have to be on our game to win this one. We have the quality, of that I have no doubt, but do we have the desire, leadership and overall minerals? If not it could be a long day.
I'd be tempted to play the following team (assuming King is not fit)
Gomes
Corluka
Zokora
Woodgate
Bale
Bentley
Jenas
O'Hara
Lennon
Bent
Pav

Dawson is a liability, Zok adds a bit of pace to the backline and to be honest we've not got much choice (maybe Corluka at CB, Gunter at RB however Corluka was class for City at RB last year).

And there is a very short line of people who want to 'prick' him with a machine gun.

If Percy is Harry Hotspur, we have an imposter among our ranks.

Who is the real deal?

I saw scenes tonight at WHL that I haven't seen for many years.

In the Paxton Upper (family stand) I saw children crying with parents taking them home 10 minutes into the game, I saw people with blood pouring down their faces.

WHY??

Because Polish fans had...

Interesting to see that this post was one that I personally wrote and posted onto the Spurs List. Just interested to know who copied and pasted it here, and why some people are unable to have an original thought.

Too many wrong things going on!!!!

Curious how the club has not acknowledge or comment on the excess of the polish fans in home areas of our statium!!!

Curious how: "Damien Comolli's future at Tottenham as sporting director is secure after the club refused to blame him for the departure of Dimitar Berbatov. (Daily Telegraph)" - even though he keeps identifying and convincing the Manager and board to sign duds!!!

Curious how Ramos thinks we need 10-15 games to gel!!!

Curious how the club are blind to the fact that we are rock bottom, and if we do not win against Wigan -we will start to become detatched!!!

Henri,Whilst I am able to control my own thieving habits if I so choose, I cannot control others. Perhaps you ought take it as a compliment you wrote something someone thought worth sharing on a wider scale.

Or maybe you only wanted 27 people to read it, who knows?

Or maybe you could pass on the situation to Mr Smith and his fifth rate legal team.
