Newcastle United Football Club want to sign Thomas Cuddlestones. No figure is touted as yet, just an initial sniff about availability at this stage.
This will be an emotive move should it happen. Opinion is divided. The Hudd has a loyal following who seem happy enough to potter along talking about potential, his young age and his sweet sweet touch.
Unfortunately, he's failed to make the grade and time has probably run out, at Tottenham, anyway.
The excess weight was lost but the mobility as it has been called wasn't really found as a result. The bottom line is with Ramos and my feeling is that he wants an an end to the players that aren't delivering. And tommy isn't. 'Meaning well' is all very nice, but we have genuine expectations of top four football. That is not going to come about hanging around forever hoping for players to either come good or turn in the odd blinder.
Patience and appreciation. No one could fail to appreciate what a potentially amazing footballer Tommy could be. He can be a fantasic and very 'Tottenham' player, but my patience would be wearing thin if I were Juande. He demands only what any top flight manager survives on: consistancy from great players. If he were to migrate north then and The News Of The Screws is anything to go by, he may well enjoy sampling a whole new world of ageing slappers. Urrgh.
This 'there's interest from Toon' infromation does indeed come from Dragon1 but also rather strangely from a pal of mine we'll call Slimboy Fat, lifelong Toon fan and ladies man. Slimboy has never had any inside info on Toon or anything else for that matter before and should this happen I will a) fall over b) never hear the end of it.
Dragon1? Really? Are we supposed to believe anything that little scrote can muster?
I've been far from satisfied with Huddlestone's general level of performance over the last 18 months. He's shown that he has real class but has very, very rarely shown it (I'm sure we've said this about anotehr of out CMs before...)
We're going to need to pair Modric with somebody that's really physical and can impose themselves on the game aswell as opponents ankles. This just isn't Tom Huddlestone's game.
To be honest, though, I'd rather see Jenas sold than Huddlestone.
I like the Hudd, but it's getting better by the hour...Chimbonda, Gardner and Hudd for £30m and we'll even throw in a spare Tanio or 2!
Seriously though we might get a decent amount of cash, like we did when we sold those other 3 to Portsmouth. What were they called again, and are they first team players down there?
total waste of talent if we let him go. Best passer of the ball in our squad and is let down by players around him. (with Modric creating the space he does, expect a different hudd) Name a better passer of the ball in the premiership? Also look at his impact in european games when he gets time. against seville. yes Hudd's mobility is poor, what do you expect after about 6 months of being at a reasonable wheight (he can also get fitter). You dont become mobile over 6 months when you have not been for your WHOLE LIFE. There is a reason that his passing is so good because he has had to rely on it his whole career. Now you want to get rid of him because he hasnt learnt to be mobile in 6 months? If we got rid now to the likes of Everton of Newcastle, watch keegan or Moyes batter him into shape and it will come back to haunt us.
'Name a better passer of the ball in the premiership?'
Unfortunately mate, going by assist stats there seem to be 'loads'. And they all naturally enough make their first team on a regular basis...'
Completely agree with Mill. Best passer in our squad and he is let down by the others around him who have no idea what to do with the ball. He's the heir apparent to Carrick and he'll become class in a few years. What I love is how people write off a player even if he's 20-21 and doesn't do it in his first season. The guy's young. Give him a break. Personally I reckon we won't let him go because Ramos can see that he has the potential to become a class act.
"What I love is how people write off a player even if he's 20-21 and doesn't do it in his first season."
I wasn't writing him off, just saying he has yet to 'expolde' and how long
do you wait? How long can you afford to wait? And is this his first season? Lennon is a fans fave too, but another one
who'll be down the road if he cannot deliver an end product on demand.
This sounds like another silly season story. Bored hack needs story + the Bar Codes have an even worse defence than us and as they are a 'bigger' club it follows that they are after everyone of our rejects. So far this summer I've heard of Chimbo, Dawson, Gardner, even Lennon & now Thudd all about to become Likely Lads...Personally, I'm firmly in the give him time to develop camp - if we hadn't sold Carrick when we did Thudd would just about be emerging in the first team now.Same argument goes for Lennon who some think we should offload- when we bought him he was one for the future i.e. about now. Thudd has a great pass and can open up defences + can double up as a central defender. I say keep him.
"Thudd has a great pass and can open up defences"
Won't dispute that. Just prefer 'can' removed and an 's' put on the end of open...
Harry wot ur askin is how long we should wait until Hudd becomes the player we all know he can be. Well I would say most top quality players need around 3 seasons of EPL football to really establish themselves when they are as young as Hudd. Look at Ronaldo he took about 3 seasons to come good and look at him now. I wouldn't bother trying to compare with players like Torres because they are anomalies that inevitably pop up in the game. Even more experienced players like Drogba took about a season and a half to get into the kind of playing form that we are used to seeing now. He needs time and we need to give it to him or someone else will and not only will we have lost out but so will the England national team who so badly need a player who can play the ball around like Huddlestone. ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT!!
i agree with most of you! here is my take on it.
Hudd needs to learn to play the simple move, this is often something that kids find hard to do, the best players in boys football will always try the difficult and take to many touches etc, this is similar with hudd and a number of our youngsters like Taarabt and KPB. developing a simple game will bring these players on tremendously.
Belly Sir, you hit it in one.
Hugglestone Taraabt and KPB need to mature the game the ply, and we have potential "special" players in these three (Id even be so brave as to suggest Kaboul in there) But to let them go at this stage would be regretful. Let them progress and watch em fly
Spurs is becoming a weird club which is attractive to 'promising' young players, but in reality we have not got the patience to develop this promise. Kaboul, KpB, Taarabt are all promising but have we got the time to develop them into PL stars? Unless they are instant hits like Bale has been, then the seasoned players like Steed will always beat them to a starting place. If we buy more enforcements even Lennon and Thudd are going to find it hard to get a start.
I think Hudd's worth another run. He is so creative and there have been quite a few games this season where he's come on and created loads of chances.
You have to remember that Huddlestone may not be complete yet, but he already offers us something we havent had since Carrick, and thats that special unlocking pass. Given time to develop, we have an outstanding player in Huddlestone. We just have to invest a little more faith in the boy. Close yer eyes and drop him in behind Modric.
Couldn't agree more Harry, well said. How long do some of our fans want to wait for the likes of Huddlestone, Jenas and Lennon to do the business on a weekly basis. Either loan out or get rid. The first team should not be used as the place to learn basic skills like tackling, crossing and shooting. I think Ramos gave those players enough rope last season and they duly hanged themselves. If these players were doing their job properly it might give us a chance to hang on to the better players. Time for a change.
I must say I'm in the keep Tom camp. That should be read as the "keep Tom" camp, not the Jenas-like variant "keep Tom camp"...
Anyway, if we are talking about keeping players and letting them progress, how long has JJ had? Tom was plying his trade at Derby County and at 18 was their best player by a country mile. He has had less than 2 seasons of proper grooming at Spurs. Jenas has had way longer. Who is more effective or consistent? JJ is 25 years old, and to say he is worth his place on the basis of his one in five (is it really that much) good games ratio compared to the Thudd's ratio? Plus Thudd is not even 22 yet. I notice when the there's talk of buying our surplus players from us they seem to link Blackburn/Newcastle et al to "the lad with bags of potential" and not the lad "who once appeared to have bags of potential, and still hasn't delivered?". And that says enough to me.
Notable fixtures: Chelski away - aug 30, Goons away - oct 28, Liverpoo home - nov 1, City away - Nov 8, Wet Spam away - dec 6, Man U home - dec 13, Fulham home - boxing day (again), Goons Home - feb 7, Chelski home - mar 21, Wet Spam home - apr 11, Man U away - apr 25, Liverpool away - may 24.
Still, at least we've signed Paul-Jose Mpoku, apparently. That'll quench our thirsts for ready made product, not. He's 16 years old, according to some is a midfielder, some a striker. Man U are supposed to have wanted him. We got him. I hope I live long enough to see all this apparent youth talent actually progress to the first team and not witness the more likely scenario of them not being given a chance. Poor Adel.
"...it's getting better by the hour...Chimbonda, Gardner and Hudd for £30m"
I think your calculator might need new batteries, mate. Or your fingers are too fat for the keypads.
I definitely don't think the decision sell Cuddles gains us anything, compared to potential to bite us in the posterior. I agree that some consistency would be nice - but what do you expect for a player who averages 25 mins a game? I'd like to see Cuddles, Adel, and O'Hara harvested out to one of the lower echelon teams next season. It's a shop window for us, and they'll be more likely to get the 70-90 min stints they need to develop consistency.
Mysterious Stranger,
There is a mysterious odour coming from your ass. Have a wash. We shouldn't sell Huddlestone yet, you littel girl.
if it happens it will happen for a reason....
i have full faith that the knowledge ramos knows his shit and will deliver to us what we have been looking for.
in juande we trust :)
Blog Head. Read my post again. When you understand the English language a bit better come back and respond, you peanut.
Mysterious Stranger,
Dude your breath is mysteriously making me sick.
Sell Hudlestone you say, Sack Ramos you say, Lick mens balls you say?
Well I say NO to all of them.
Now please go and learn how to speak Cantonese before you respond.
Blog Head.
Read my post again. The only thing we are disagreeing on is the cleanliness of me and my ass, and my internet breath, if there is such a thing. When you learn to do any of the following come back and embarrass yourself a bit more:
a) Learn to interpret what "I'm in the "keep Tom" camp means.
b) Learn to spell.
c) Learn to take "Read my post again" as an indicator that you didn't read it properly before resorting to submitting further immature posts.
d) Learn not to insert your childish irrelevant comments such as "littel girl" or "Lick mens balls you say?". I do not need to resort to your level of insult. I have said nothing you seem to think I have said. Which suggests to me you don't think much before you type.
MysteriousStranger,
Ok ok, I might have been a bit hasty on the Huddlestone and Ramos suggestions, you definitly said you love balls though
Wow, did you really sign up to continue to talk shite? Both your previous posts were personal attacks directed towards me, wholly based on your misunderstanding of my posts. Incredible apology that! Welcome to the community. Maybe your future posts will be more enlightening. Excuse me if I remain skeptical.
Nice touch btw, Blog Head. Favourite teams Arsenal Chelsea AND Spurs? Did you click the wrong button? Are you foreign?
Mysterious Stranger,
Cant we just get along. I know you dont know much about football or hairstyles but I promise to help you with both, ok dude.
Now listen up Hombre, I want you to hear this loud and clear - SELLING THUDD WOULD BE A MISTAKE - The boy could be great, give him another season.
We need to replace Zokora first or we'll always be average
Defensive midfielder is top priority
im slightly concerned that blog-head lists Arsenal, Tottenham & Chelsea as his favourite clubs :|
Wunian,
I did that cos I like going on Arsenal sites to childishly hurl abuse. Is that ok with you big nose?
comments about my proboscis are not needed nor wanted.
hmmmm i dont agree with your reasoning... on a real level how old are you because i'm getting a whiff of kid on half term?
Wunian, maybe Harry will make this boy unwelcome.
Well, we can always dream.
Wunian,
With that nose you can probably get a whiff of the coffee in brazil.
Can you talk football please or get off my website
i hope so... although a little bit of internet fighting on a monday morning always brightens up the office :)
harry please remove this knob jockey hes a tit.
no but i work around the corner from the nestle factory so i can smell that.
Wunian,
So you're a grass.
'Please harry, please harry, please harry'
You pussy.
Only football talk from now on plase or I shall remove you from this blog for good and I odnt want to do that. Appart from your nose you seem like a bloddy nice chap
sorry please can you refrain from broken english.
moving on.
i never said i wanted to sell him, i said i have faith in whatever decision senor ramos makes.
i wouldnt say hes shit ive seen some good performances in the past however i dont think the premiership is suited to him
We need a consistly good DM or we'll nevr be champs league simple as that
Will Tommy get into the top four teams now is the question we need to answer - I think he has the potential to step up but again it's potential. Would love to see him play alongside Modric. In Ramos we trust, can't wait to see.... BIOYC COYS
*ignores Blog-Head*
some nice opening fixtures there.. a good chance to rack up few points..
as for Big Tom.. i'd be inclined to give him one more season but my patience is wearing thin as it is..
I agree Bimi, Thuddlestone has shown improvement, not to mention Prescott-like potential for weight-loss. One more season should be granted to allow him to realise the much mooted potential; Along with Jenas?
Intrigued by the we will be selling both Berba and Bent rumours; Strikers, who needs them; Shall we sell Keane too? After all, new players can be identified and convinced, and deals put togther in a matter of minutes if needs be.
COYS
**Slaps BimitarDerbatov's bald head**
Shut up Baldy bollocks, ha ha ha
*yawn*
Are you still here Blog-Head? Isn't it time for your mid-afternoon nap? Have you been left home alone? I think we should call Social Services.
i'm bored now that hes gone :(
anyway moving on i keep seeing the berb moves again... whats everyone thinking? is he going utd? barca? or staying....?
If he's gonna go Wunian, I'd rather it was to Barca. I would hate to see Berbs in a red shirt next year. Plus I've a soft spot for Barca after they beat the scum in the CL final the other year. And of course Steve Archibald!!
Chirpy,
You better get used to me chirp-dog, just like you got used to being ginger.
Wunian,
He's staying ass face
Hmmm, who knows. Do we know whether Berba/Dantchev are now talking to Spurs (again) with regards the 2-yr contract extension option?
The last I heard was that Dimi is reluctant to discuss/commit whilst his pint-sized agent punts him round some of Europe's finest and continues to encourage ManU.
Question: will we be looking for a new fourth striker, to replace Defoe?
I see break time's over. Is that all your own work Blog-Head?
this blog head chap is a bit of a prick me thinks.
anyway i reckon that we are looking at a 4th stiker however maybe we could be giving peckhart a go? you never know!
im concerned over the links of bent away aswell... i dont think it would be sensible to sell berbs and bent leaving one reliable striker because although we are quick to talk smack about bent, his game to goal ratio is quite good!
Agreed Wunian, the 'Bent Out' prattle is a tad previous. Has he been given a proper opportunity to demonstrate what he can/cannot do?
thats the thing... if we let him go and he scores 40 goals a season elsewhere the same people slagging him off will be saying "why did they let him go" "he didnt have a fair crack" i hope this season benty stands up and gets counted.... people forget that he sat and waited to move to spurs the guy WANTS to play for us and we owe him that at the very least.
Wunian,
If you was a season ticket holder, you'd know just how poor bent actually is big nose
and how did you establish that i am not one?
in fact thats a shit comment in its fullness, regardless of season ticket status it doesnt mean you get to see the game differently from those at home.
get a fucking clue you little punk.
Blog Head if you are going to insult distinguished pals then I will have no choice but to unleash the hounds...
Blog-Head, if you think possession of a Season Ticket is akin to some form of Enlightenment in respect of player evaluation you clearly don't sit in front of father+daughters combo I do. Hang on a minute, attends games with his father, of school age, has penchant for wearing skirts and nickers, has no clue about football... Blog-Head you've been found out.
Regrettably, season-ticket holders will know only too well how few games Bent played last season. Nevertheless, Bent should be roundly condemned for not trying harder to will the ball into the opponents net as he sat watching it from the bench. What a dybbuk.
i want JGM to insult blogg head, i demand it, its my right i tells ya. where are ya yellow bellied JGM, scared your gonna get outwitted by the the dennis pennis of harry hotspur.
I threw Bloghead some low rent porn so he's probably nipped off for a powerw*nk and a Pot Noodle...
Summerspur, the Pirate Auditions are next week, mate...
blackburn fan at work says that the yids are goin 2 buy bentley, any1 else heard that?
I'm afraid claiming Bent only looked crap cos he hardly played is bollocks.
Truth is he looked crap cos he's crap. Get real let's move on
Aarrgh would hope so.
*removes comedy eyepatch and naffs off*
nice to see that new fixtures did us proud
again!!, Also funny how Ar5na1 Chelscum, and Manusa all have home games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
Ar5na1 also end with dam home game!!! that piss
me off!!, we should have ended with home game,if that ain't conspiracy what is?. :(
apropos our discussion regarding who should "do the running" and the dirty work along side modric's sculpting, i hope that TT remains in the picture and isn't seduced by Jol. (mental image of Martin Jol in french knickers seducing teemu tainio)
Tainio is a HH fave. A player too many are too quick to sling on their 'get rid' list. Always does his upmost and I would clone him. (And FedEx one to BMJ to do what he may with)
He isn't the world's greatest player but is a quality squad player. Always plays for the shirt! Dammit!
i've always been a fan of tainio, works his socks off whenever hes on the pitch and hes happy to be a squad player... i'm sure i've read somewhere that we are his boyhood club?
i've jus made a new group... there aint any proper spurs ones on here so if you would be all so kind as to join it:
LINK
:)
PISSED. Just wrote a rather well worded comment summarising the split in views on THudd verging on that of the split on Jenas concluding that whilst I like THudd as a player this is no time for sentimentality if we really want to win, other player will come along who will be better and I will grow to like just as easily.
That paragraph seems to work just as well though...cursed internet explorer.
P.S. I think Huddlestone would make a great utility player in the O'Shea mould.
HARRY
is it not time you launched a "song for luca" blogg. could be bit of a challenge this one as the only thing i found to rhyme with modric was osterich
I can't see Bent to Celtic happening. Read that he was on £90,000 a week at Spurs. If this is true then he would need to take a £60,000 a week wage cut and what would be the point of that if some cunt like West Ham will pay you £70,000 a week and you dinny need to move house....
he aint on 90k at spurs i dont reckon i think thats paper talk as the spammers offered more?
i fucking hope he aint on that anyway cah berbs and the king are on less!
Wunian
I'm trying to find the link to the spreadsheet I saw it on. I'm sure he was 16th highest paid player in the EPL.
No matter, £30,000 a week is tops at Celtic and I'm unsure if oor budget would meet Spurs valuaton.
Would be amusing if he scored for the winner for us against youse at the Rotterdam tourny though!!!!
i think you're right i have seen it somewhere aswell i just find it hard to believe he earns more then tevez... is your wage structure limited to 30k? how have you managed to sign some of the players you sign based on that!
cheers,
Arran
oops didnt mean to add the "cheers, arran" business i'm still in work mode :(
Wunian
Creative use of bonuses. Give them a basic and factor in some perks seems to be the key.
Take Thomas Graveson. It's a myth he is on £40,000 a week. £20,000 a week basic plus a shit load of bonuses on top. If we play, we win, he scores etc it takes to to around the £40,000 a week mark but he disnny play cause he is shit.
Nakamura. On a basic of £12,000 a week but his image rights and merchindise deal wie us means he earns millions.
We have to do that as we don't have Sky bankrolling us.
oh yer didnt look at it like that.... although there are other ways of making the dollah bills?
the SPL needs to be more competitive we have the top 4 and u guys sadly only have a top 2 which is a big shame
hey hey hey; I'm back - did I miss anything? Is 9.37 still crapping in his sleep? Has Berba left us? I've been without internet or newspaper access for a week; who will tell me the best bits? hohum.
coys
the best bits.... ermmmmmm
there haven't been any.... unfortunatly
fuck a duck i'm talking shit...
the best bit by far is the new group :)
I don't take the more competitive argument. Most leagues have the same teams dominating year in year out it's the way the game is run and promoted that is the problem.
Ok, only us
and, eh, us :-) will win the league but the league is full of decent players and outwith the Big 2 you can get some cracking games.
Last season playing games on shite parks to
empty stadiums while trying to attract passing punters to watch the game on the telly is not how to promote the SPL.
Setanta is improving though.
If Celtic could
get their own TV Deal it would make a big big difference.
maybe they should even have a subscription based scottish football channel?
fuck me i should work for sky
wunian - group?
checking out the Spurs page on Sky Sports - Luka Modric is a steal at £17.00 if you belive them! Looks like he has the number 14 shirt, so Ghaly is history.
Welcome back o'dannyboy don't worry JJ is still at the lane although now Barca are getting shot of Deco they do have a vacancy.
Wunian is talking about the yid_army group he has
started on oleole and if you can work out what a group on oleole actually does please let me know.
"the only thing i found to rhyme with modric was osterich"...
Shy of signing Jason Orange(who sez I in't down wid da kids, Blood?) we couldn't have made life for our Songwriting Dept any harder. Comolli OUT!!!
Shanemac - No claret on the carpet please, it's only just down...
LOTW~ Fraternal greetings from Sarf of The Wall. I agree about Benty. The numbers won't add up. As far as the lolly is concerned, I don't think your lot would wear what he's allegedly on down here. That's more about Celtic being saner book keepers than us. Your absence of Sky funding focuses the mind.
But there's more or rather less to this than meets the eye... Bent's move to Spurs was for a number of reasons and 'geographical' was on that list.
Summerspur.. a song for Luca you say.. well here's one i've borrowed from Derby County a couple of years back when they had their own Croatian (who actually played for Belgium) also by the name of Luka (cant remember his second name)
ok so to the tune of Abba's 'Super Truper' the Derby song went:
"Super Luka, He comes from Croatia,
But he's Belgian now,
And to him we'll bow,
If we avoid the drop somehow."
so by simply replacing a few words we get:
"Super Luca, He comes from Croatia,
But he's Tottenham now,
And to him we'll bow,
If we get Champions League somehow."
or something along those lines.. all suggestions welcome..
what say ye??
"if you can work out what a group on oleole actually does please let me know."
I presumed it was just another religous cult in it's infancy and am contributing 5% of my salary towards it. I always join them and give generously on the basis that one of them must be on to something and I would kick myself if I had missed out later on.
i dont know what a group does but theres gooner ones with thousands of members and shit... suppose i'm just competing :)

Toms an Ok player, but he's not Champions League, if he does go, i will wish him well.
Hit the nail on the head. I love Hudd and love the moments of briliance he pulls of from time to time. But it's true he doesn't deliver. I mean I'd be much happier to see Zoko leave, but in truth, if we needed a man to do some running and see a game out you'd have to pick Zoko over Hudd. He's a luxury player that creates goal every couple of games. However we now have Jenas to do the running, and Luka to create. I fear his time is up. I guess I'd sooner see him at Boro, possibly get Adam Johnson or Wheater out of it who knows. Maybe even to Rovers and dare I say it Bentley. Would be pretty gutted to lose him for a piffling £3-5m to Newcastle for nothing.
