Disagree with the above ...... Its all good, I can see a little behind the seen dealings with Barca - going on they make way for the Russian to come to Spurs we sell them Berbs & piss old red nose off in the process ......... Kean - as much as we love him can go (his choice) providing we get 20 mil - its not about how much he is worth, its about fair comp - for undermining our team again.... the top 4 do it every year - which ever team looks like making progress, Mancs & especially the leverpool (who have to look over their shoulder as they know the packs chewing on their heels)do their best to unsettle by taping up key players ....
We will spend wisely ..... the squad is improving
would prefer to keep steed ...
Either way .... we will be a team to be respected

Get over yourself, you berk.
Very bad indeed and never thought Tottenham were a selling club and more so to their main rivals?! Shameful.
Now I think the emphasis of your attention, Harry, should focus entirely on the replacements, otherwise we should cancel the new season altogether
Reply to Mike:
Keane, Berbatov, Malbranque, Kaboul, Chimbonda and Tainio out.
Arshavin, Pavylachenko, Capel and Alonso in.
Hmmm, Arshavin & Pavluchenko together would be much more interesting than either on their own

True - as is the simple fact that you're spelling Giovani with one two many 'n's. You're not the only one who can be a smug smartar*e.
am i the only one who thinks Arshavin is gash and doesnt want him at the lane?
i thought pavylchenkoblooked pretty tasty at the euros and would welcome him at the lane, but something about arshavin tells me he'd turn out to be another Rebrov!!!!
Just when we get the right players in to solve the problems of last season, other players are sold to leave us in this constant state of being one or two pieces short of the puzzle.
Ffs Levy, don't sell our best player to Utd again. Forget the money, it will leave us even further behind them. Flog him off on the continent.
Spot on Harry love Keano right up there with my all time favorites but if he don't declare his love then come on down the price must be right.
As for Berbs he's gone
According to some clever ex pro during the Euros, the fashion now is to play one striker and remembering some of Juande's total football type formations last season that may well be his plan. In which case pointy shouty bloke may not fit in and if you look at our current midfield plus the Rolls Royce 5 across the middle looks likely.
I'm not feeling anymore confident having read the comments attributed to Ramos either, which were along the lines of selling at a profit to buy younger players. I can see the business plan coming into swing from the board but to sell TWO of our very best players is complete filth, and an outrage to the fans who continue to pay good money to see the team play. While Arshavin may come and may perform with some creative flair up front, he's not the predator we'll need and there seem to be few names that are. Pavluchenko? More unproven top level nonsense. If we're to play with one up front, it had better be "one" better than the two we're apparently selling, and the £48m (ish) we get for them had better be wisely reinvested into the team. sharpish.

That may be true but sometimes it can be difficult to tell the difference between a striker like PSB who likes to drop back and an attacking midfielder.
I would be gutted if we lost keano but as its been said if his heart is not in it then there is no point in keeping him.
Steed is a different kettle of fish. The guy worked his balls off last season for the cause. Often being played out of position he tracked back and offered us a goal threat from midfield. Would be very upset to see the back of a very honest, hardworking and versatile player. Ramos must keep steed!!
Now Barca have come in for Berba I expect Spurs to sell him to them and show fergie that we can play stupid games too.
The money from the sales of Berba £25m, Keane £25m and the four to Sunderland £23m would raise an unbelievable amount of cash that would be re-invested into the team. Santa Cruz & Bentley £27m combined. Capel £15m and a top class CDM and CB to keep King and Woody on their toes.
I really hope Arshavin doesn't sign. I thought the guy had 2 good games in the Euro's. One against the lacklustre Greeks and one against a defensively weak dutch side. When he came up against a team that marked him I dint hear his name mentioned once! Spain just ensured that he was marked and he didnt touch the ball, dropped deeper and was obselete plus the fact he's 28!
Surely there are better players out there for 20m euros????
May I just say for the record I think the money that some believe we will get for Bob is wildly optimistic.
Once again just as us Spurs fans think we are on the verge of something big, it falls apart.
It feels like lasagne-gate all over again.
The Levy has pulled a wrong'un with this one.
Its a complete false economy to sell a striker of his quality, then claim you got good value, as the £25m gained from the sale could have been earned from Champions League qualification.
If I was the Levy, I'd pull Mr Berbatov aside and tell him he can leave on the following proviso's....
Either
1. We get in the Champions League
2. He scores 30+ League goals
This way we guarantee to get a good year out of him.
I'd also quietly remind him that both the aspirations of himself and the club are the same... namely the desire to play in the fabled Champions League.
I also worry about getting a suitable replacement. How do we sell Spurs as a club to prospective World-Class strikers?
"We nearly finished above West Ham!"
Whatever we say about being a big club and wanting to break the "Sky 4" facts are facts, we are a bottom half side. League doesn't lie.
You can dress it up how you like by saying that we had a bad start but every team has their problems, stop making excuses for the overpaid pansies that couldn't give a toss.
Rant over, for now.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR LTD
It must be clear to all but the most diehard spurs fans that they are simply trying to be the best Champions League feeder team ever. Making a profit is king, that means buying and selling players at the highest level to those clubs that are genuingly champions league contenders. Next time you renew your membership, buy a ticket, visit the shop, or renew your season ticket just remember your team has already gone as far as it intends to go. Keene and Berbatov already know this but have higher ambitions than this club. Levy's true objective is to build the business and sell it on. Like it or lump it.
Arshavin has had two good games?
Where the fuck have you been for the last 18months?
I would swap Berbatov for him in a heartbeat.
As to Keano the Cunt it may be a blessing in disguise - if Ramos is going to employ a 5 man midfield with one up front I honestly dont see Keane filling that role.
And we will have 60m to find a player that can.
and who isnt a cunt.
Blimey! A bit of honest self-reflection from the press:
"Spurs have been linked with a whopping 55 players since the end of last season but nearly all the speculation has been off target with the Londoners acting swiftly and decisively to make their signings with the minimum of fuss."
Hats off to Metro.co uk LINK
jolsgonemental...
Are you an avid watcher of the Russian League?? Did you watch every game Zenit played in the UEFA cup??
I'm guessing no. No doubt Arshavin can play, I saw him play in the Quarters, Semi's, and final of the UEFA cup and he did very well. But i found that during the euro's he was overhyped to the point of disbelief.
He did well against Greece who were among the worst 3 teams in the euro's, he played well against Holland who admittedly were great going forward but looked suspect at the back when teams had a go at them. Against Spain, a team who looked organised at the back and played with a holding midfielder Arshavin was terrible. All Spain did was ensure that someone was near him at all times and they marked him out of the game. He hardly touched the ball and was very ineffective.
Are you saying you would pay 20m euros for a 28yo player who has shown that against a team who are tactically sound can be easily marked out of the game??
There has got to be better options out there for around the £15m mark.
It doesnt seem likely that Levy will sanction the sales of Berbatov and Keane at the same time, he isnt stupid and the message this gives out to spurs fans is that we are a selling club and all his talk of breaking the top 4 is b*llocks. especially when you think of Carrick as well, that would make it 3 players in 3 years sold to teams in the top 4.
It would prove we are not seriously chasing the top 4.
Just dont think Levy will do it.
I don't think it's panic stations just yet, although it would be nice to see a couple of deals done and soon.
Disappointed in Keane, like you say it's looking more and more likely he's doing one. If that's what he wants, he can go, but why all the bullshit at the end of last season? £20M would be good business though?
The four to Sunderland for £23Mil also sounds like great business/daylight robbery/too good to be true. Tainio I like, but he's injury prone and 29 in November. Steed I also like, gives his all, but ultimately he's limited.
Like most others I don't want and I don't think we need Arshavin. If we do sell Keane, Berbatov, The Sunderland Four and the deadwood, we're looking at around £75 Million
Like JS says, if we can buy Capel, Bentley, DM, CB and a Striker we're in business, but we've got to start tying deals up quickly.
Berbatov to Barca would make me feel a lot better than seeing him in a manure shirt and like Blue Tuatara said, it would piss off Ferguson no end, especially if we were to sign Santa Cruz.
Levy is going to be one busy little fucker in the coming days, let's hope he can bring in everyone Ramos wants.
Let's not worry about how Liverpool get the money. If they raise £20million for Keane or £17 million for Barry (and often these deals will be bulk upfront and the rest spread or dependent on contributions) then who are we to object in their quest to "do a Leeds"?
Personally I've never been that much of a Steed fan. But I don't dislike him. Like the rest of the squad, he does look to be in much better shape. I always wished he could find that extra bit of quickness in everything he did. It would be a shame to move him on if he did go on to fulfil his potential elsewhere!
Much as the English press have made a fair bit of the "Barca in for Berbatov" angle (allegedly due to complications in their negotiations for Adebayor) this story was tiny in Spanish/Barca press terms, as the "Robinho to Barca" story was the one they were salivating over. For obvious reasons I suppose.
Arshavin I really like. Said that before. I dismissed the Pavlyuchenko story a little. I thought he was pretty good in the Euros. I would have preferred him to convert a few more of his chances, though as I backed him at 100-1 to be Top Goalscorer (to win too, instead of EW). And it's perhaps not fair to judge a guy on all his misses in one tourney instead of giving him credit for scoring three. Especially given my "interest", which may skew a point of view slightly. After all, Luca Toni looked horrible in the Euros but could not stop scoring for Bayern Munich over the season that preceded it. It doesn't neccessarily mean he's a bad player, he just had a bad tourney. And if Roman had a "bad tourney" then he could be the find of the season
. I thought he was very intelligent, just his finishing was a little off. And linking up with Arshavin would not only be sweet, but it could also help both players settle in London if they were to come as a package. And happy campers are better campers.
I think it is realistic now that Berbs is off and am more worried that we will lose Keane. It is totally hypocritical of Fergie to mention names. I would prefer to sell to Barca and think that we should have another pop at Eto with no other clubs in for him at the moment. I liked Arshavin at the Euro's but am not sure in the Prem especially as our players Modic, De Santos, Lennon are quite small already.
As for the four leaving. I'd let them go for the right price. Steed has been good but for the right money he would have to go as to move up we need more quality.
Jamiespurs - on Arshavin; get him in. NOW. The guy is a genius. Yeah, ok, he had a bad game against Spain; all I remeber is him ripping England to bits single handedly in Russia and doing likewise to a rampant Holland team in Euro. The guy is quality.
As for Keane, 20 million, sell him. In Ramos we trust. Anyway, if he is thinking of leaving, what was all this about? LINK
So he was great in the QF. SF and Final of UEFA Cup
But only brilliant in 2 of the 3 games you saw him play in Euro2008.
So a paltry 7 in 8 Ratio.
ergo he is crap.
genius mate.
15m is less than the price of Bentley or Barry, and I have yet to see them dominating games at the business end of European club and internation football.
So amuse me, who are the better options at £15m you refer to?
I think that we ought to remember one thing for a second.......
we've been linked by the press with just about every available player this summer. How many have we actually bought? the players wehave bought snuck in under the radar and were reported as they signed... point being, its silly season and the press need a story.
We have a new manager and there isnt much else to write about so they use us- "new era, shipping out deadwood, buying anyone remotely available"....
All i'm saying is that it doesn't take a genius to know that we are in the market, aswe have a manager who wants to put his own stamp on things. I just think we should treat these stories about players we are selling in the same way that we treat the rumoured purchases.
Keane won't leave. Liverpool have no money
Benitez and Fergie have openly said they have bid for them... Its not paper talk mate... They are offski.
We need to find 1 shit hot striker, then have Bent/Pekhart/Dos Santos as the back-up.
Huntelaar reminds me of Berbatov in that he was scoring goals in another league but people were worried to take a chance on him.
I'd say... Give him a go.
"I will continue to play there for as long as I am happy and for as long as I am wanted".
Maybe Ramos feels an offer of £20 million is to good to turn down.
As for the Arshavin debate, I think he's a good player, but he's not a winger or a striker and we have Modric and Dos Santos who can play AM. Money better off being spent in other areas IMO.
Spurs keep rebuilding but not actually making any progress. To progress we obviously need good players. With our policy we buy young and these players develop. If we are simply going to improve for a couple season and sell off our best players who have been integral to that improvement then we are just taking 2 steps forward and then 2 or 3 steps back.
Carrick was our outstanding player and went, Berba Keane and Steed have been our best over the last 2 season. What happens in 2 or 3 yeras time when the likes of Dos Santos, Bale, Lennon, Gunter prove themselves to be top draw players (all currently 18-21yrs old). Will we sell them again.
I am sure ramos has a plan but having cash to buy replacements is not always the best option. We failed to replace Carrick despite having £18m to play with. Arshavin, Pavlychenko are not the solution...they strike me as another Rebrov & Iverson.
Capel, Bentley, DM, CB & 2 strikers needed if all the above leave.
Come on people! Huntelaar? Keep dreaming! He's working under a Dutch Striker's dream partnership of Van Basten and Bergkamp. If he leaves, he's going to another top four CL club, not the likes of us.

jamie will argue with you JGM. Even if his facts are wrong. Oh, I see he already has. At least this argument is "difference of opinion" based
I understand the concerns and comparisons (Arshavin/Rebrov, Pavlyuchenko/Iversen), I even made the Iversen Mk II comment before about Pav. We all have our concerns, but I didn't think Hoddle either gave Rebrov sufficient chance to shine or play in a system that allowed him to play his game. And it's all about risk and reward, this transfer business. I say if Ramos is building his team, and Arshavin could be an integral part of his vision of how we play our football, then fair enough. It'll be different to Hoddle's vision/opinion as a manager. I'm sure we all loved him as a player and disliked him as a manager.
If Spurs play next year with the organisation, the style, energy and inventiveness of a Zenit St. Petersurg or a Seville (as Ramos had it) next season then I'd be pretty chuffed with our progression, and the Ramos vision!
one more point. With Dos Santos, Lennon, Modric and Arshavin we would probably have the shortest midfield in the world. Not great for ball winning.
I dont give a f*ck who we sell as long as we get good money and replace with better! I like Steed and Teemu but I dont think either would be any more than sub in a champs league team. Selling players for at least their market value (or more) when they have demonstrated that they arent actually loyal to the club and see us as a stepping stone, doesnt make us a feeder club, just sensible. If Keane/Berb want to state that they are happy to stay, no problem - otherwise take the money and let Pool/Manure/Cats get themselves into debt for players who will lose value over the next couple of years.
Don't think Arshavin would fit in now we have Modric.
We just need a 25+ goal a season striker if the jumpers do in fact jump.
Problem is, how do you get a world-class striker to join a bottom half club?
Ball winning doesn't really have anything to do with size does it? I mean compare Gattuso or Makalele to Huddlestone, say. On that basis, its far better to be sub 6 ft.
Well done Harry, you've got us all going at last. As sgt Jones used to say - DON'T PANIC! DON'T PANIC! I reckon jolsgonmental has it right about arshavin and Park Lane Nomad seems not to want a top 4 quality bench. I'll take Modric & arshavin over Jenas & Malbranque any day of the week. Surely we all realise that although Ramos still has it all to prove at Spurs, he's no idiot and clearly has been a part of the buying and selling so far. If doing his own thing allows for the sale of two 20 or so goalmakers for something in the region of 40 million squid, so be it. We're attracting better quality than we have in a long time so it's time to trust the off the pitch staff a little and Ramos needs to make his mark.
Come on the Wendy!
So you reckon Arshavin would turn down Arsenal, Barca and Chelsea to sit on our bench?
I know we knew he was going but hearing that scotiish prick talk to us as we'd talk to west ham is fucking sickening.
Please sell him to Barca for a tenner, please levy I beg you
Chaps,
Levy is not stupid. ANd he is in direct dialogue with our manager and commolli, which was not the case last year. the club appears to be working towards strenghteing the team and becomming a safer asset.
if we can sell keane and berbatov and generate £50m, there can be no doubt we could reinvest that sum into a number of players whose total contribution to the team would be more significant.
we still have pekhart and bent who may be more useful than we have given credit to.
at the moment, there is no need to worry. if keane stays, he will give us 100%. berbs is off. fergie's comments confirm this. so £30m in the porcelain pig.......who's out there and willing to do a job for us?
Would Berbatov and Keanes' departure be backwards step? Unquestionably ‘Yes’, even if balanced by another’s arrival.
From a profit-and-loss perspective the deals may make sense and their replacements may well be younger and appreciate in value (if all goes to plan), but a balance between youth and experience must be struck if success on the pitch is to match the club's financial performance. And, the enviable qualities of our team, such as our recent goal scoring prowess, must be maintained if we are to make progress - and not so easily undone by our rivals for the sake of a quick buck or twenty... million.
Levy may well be an astute (some say bloody awkward) negotiator when disposing of incumbent talent, but he is not necessarily shrewd when it comes to what must be retained. We, as club/company, seem to be broking a speculative game, with players the commodity, for the sake of short term financial return. As a share-holder I may be convinced, as a fan I am far from it.
We supposedly have ambitions of becoming a Top-4 club; Is this conducive with being a ‘selling club’. Ramos’s job, in part, must be to resist Levy when he seeks to dispose of essential talent. If they are all, including Ramos, aligned with the profit making motive, as a priority, there is no hope for us.
Re: Mr Nomad
You appear to be thinking like a small club supporter. Having two quality players covering the same position is a good thing. Remember when Lennon was out or covering the left side when Malbranque was unavailable and we had Jenas, Tainio and I think even Thud was on the wing once; disasterous nonsense.
If Wendy has one up front, how about a Dos Santos(LW), Modric & Arshavin(CM), Thud(DM) and Bentley(RW) midfield?
I suspect even Bent might put a few away with those behind him.
Remember we had kanoute doing just ok for us, then Wendy got hold of him and I don't need to tell you what happened next. If he thinks he can use the money from a Berbs & Keane sale to cover the cost of the plans he has for us then I'm up for selling. fergy was once laughed at for letting bex and van nestle-roy go but they've just won the double - again.
What's good for Wendy is good for us.
COYS
Ps
He's more likely to be left on the bench at barka, arse and chavski. That's why Two-Saints left barka for us.
Alonso is rated at around 15 mil isnt he?
If we could get Alonso + £5m for keane it would be a great bit of buisnes. Not so shure whenever Alonso would agree this, but Ramos is from spain, and that have to say something, dosent it?
And to the last, im really disapointed over keane..... i thought (since the prick said it) that he wanted to stay a spurs as the rest of hes life...
