TerrasBlog 03/12/2008

Wednesday, 03 December 08, 12:37 PM · Comments (0)

This bloody soap opera has more twists than a get together of Oliver's family and things don't look like getting any simpler in the Weymouth FC boardroom this week.

Outgoing Chairman Malcolm Curtis has wielded the axe today by dismissing Commercial Director Ken Wilde from his post at the Wessex Stadium.

Even more ridiculously he has sacked Manager John Hollins who has spent the last few weeks on 'gardening leave' for alleged misdemeanors. The best Curtis could come up with in his sacking can be found here. But non of these 'crimes' are as bad as selling the club up the river and making off with its land.

John Hollins, if you are reading this (and after our chat at the Spyglass I am sure you will have taken up reading TerrasBlog!!) can I personally thank you for dragging this club from the dark ages in terms of the football we played. Garry Hill couldn't do it with a massive budget so that is a real feather in your cap. Oxford or Woking, or whomever will benefit from securing your services I am sure of that. Alan Lewer will more than likely follow you and good luck to him to... dont worry about us, we have Marcus Clowning.

In all seriousness, when JHMBE looks back over his Weymouth experience I hope he can seperate the fans who idolised him and the incompetent chumps in the boardroom who have tried to make him carry the can for problems (i.e. the budget) of their doing.

The day of misery for Terras fans didnt end their. The Dorset Echo confirmed in a further article that Malcolm Curtis has suspended all of the clubs standing orders and direct debits. Let's hope that the players aren't paid by BACS and that our creditors have some patience during this time. I suspect after the amount of buggering about that has been going on they may not though.

More on that story here

More also on the new emerging consortium led by the supremo of former club sponsor Park Engineering, Dave Higson. Despite being (I think) a Bolton fan Higgy is a favourite of the fans and depending on who he is getting into bed with could get the TerrasBlog vote.

97/98 Home Shirt

Park Engineering sponsored the 1998 Doc Martens Southern Division Championship side led by Alex Browne

What tomorrow? We have lost a manager and stop paying our bills today!!!!!
