2009 - Possibly a podcast...

There might be a podcast this week, although then again there might not.

Depends on if there is any positive news to talk about as I am a little annoyed with the amount of negativity doing the rounds again to be honest.

But we covered that yesterday in some depth so it is onwards and upwards to the news apparently coming out of the club later this week regarding a new sponsor.

During one of the many defensive posts that board members have felt they have had to write on the clubs message board this weekend there was one mentioning that despite everything the club has a new main sponsor and it would be revealed this week.

Now it could be Marlboro chippy again like 1993 and we could have that fish on our kit again (it was interesting to hear Fred Dunford say the other week that he actually designed that shirt to look like a sailors outfit!!). But I am willing to use my sources and journalistic nouse to have a stab at who I think it is.

This isn't born out of any specific inside knowledge but a timeline of snippets from Weymouth FC.

It has been mentioned in an Echo article that a deal with ProStar has been agreed regarding our contract with them as kit supplier.
The quality of the printing on their shirts was bad...
Team Bath had an agreement with a relatively new sportswear company Kukri Sports.
Kukri had until recently been a rugby only manufacturer but have been branching out. See the Ireland Twenty20 kit for an example.
They are rumoured to be wanting a break into football.
There kit is supposedly really top quality.

Ergo - Kukri Sportswear will be the new sponsor of the club.
