TerrasBlog 26/08/2008 Forest Green 4-1 Weymouth

Where do I start?

I am bloody sick of playing them. Chumps.

I honestly thought that the curse would be laid to rest when Scott Doe got us back into it with less than a quarter of the match to go, but some numpty with a Serie-A sounding name banged in some goals and our unbeaten run was over.

I didn't want us to lose, of course, but sometimes it is nice to get a long unbeaten run over with as you tend to find that those sorts of streaks lead to lots of draws.

Our target I am sure remains getting to 40+ points asap and then seeing where we go from there.

Right on to more cheery matters and the fact that tomorrow at mid-day sees the announcement Terras fans the world over (and there are some smattered all over the globe as I have found out doing this site!) have been waiting for regarding the plans for the stadium.

It would be wrong to speculate on what is going to be planned or otherwise, but I wanted to lay down the spec as I (a layman) see it.

  1. The stadium will ideally be a little closer to Weymouth town centre. The trade off will be improved non-match day revenue. i.e. we will have some.
  2. The stadium will be carbon-neutral. Having spent my holiday reading "Let my people go surfing" (a book everyone should read) I think it is important that the new stadium can follow Dartfords example and not harm the environment.
  3. Brown field and not green field would be the preferred building land.
  4. The community centre element is important to make this part of Weymouth as opposed to just a football club. I could write an essay on why the club and community have disengaged so badly, but baby steps should ensure an improvement.

Note I have steered clear of all the issues regarding who will own the site as it would be unfair to do that until Maclolm Curtis has laid down the plans.

I can hardly wait!

Full reaction on the blog tomorrow.
