TerrasBlog 26/07/2008 - Weymouth 3-3 Bristol City

Saturday, 26 July 08, 06:39 PM

The Terras came back from 2-0 down to record a 3-3 draw with Championship side Bristol City at the Wessex Stadium last night.

The should have been Premiership vistors were ahead before Kevin Sandwith pulled one back. Kevin Betsy restored City's advantage before a two goal salvo on the half hour from Stuart Beavon ensured a share of the spoils for Weymouth.

My spy at the match informed me that we looked great going forward but shaky at the back. With the likes of Lee Trundle in the Bristol team though that is not unexpected. We wont be facing forwards of that quality week in week out in the BSP this season!

So a positive end to the week, which was made better with manager John Hollins quashing rumours that the club were looking to cash in on player of the season Scott Doe. Internet rumours linking him with big spending Stevenage Borough.

TerrasBlog 12/07/08

Old Logo

And so season 2008/09 is off to a winning start away from home and in Europe.

I say Europe because Portland is a bit off shore, and whilst yes I accept that it is connected to the UK by a causeway I think that the French probably think they are going overseas when they go to the Mt. San Michel. Maybe.

Anyhow I am sticking with it as I always thought our rare wins against Newport Isle of Wight were European victories so there. Argue if you want, but my logic is sound!

My man at the match isn't answering his phone yet this morning but I can stick with the facts I know and that is...

Portland United 0-4 Weymouth (The scorers I think were Dubois 2, Beavon, Sandwidth)

Of course the real tests lie a lot further down the track and history will show us that a decent pre-season for this club usually means a terrible season, but i am staying positive.

It would be nice to think that we can have it all this campaign. And I did dream that Chris McPhee became the first player to score the winning goal in consecutive seasons for different clubs in the FA Trophy.

Beaver got the second against a below par York Side.

My dreams don't usually come true but its worth keeping an eye out!

Ok, thats all for this morning. Keep the Beat the Blogger entries coming in... I want to see your holiday snaps!!!! (not those ones)

TerrasBlog 02/07/08

Wednesday, 02 July 08, 06:01 PM

After doing a welcome to new players yesterday, I thought I would carry on this new theme and spirit of warmness and will extend my pleasantries to Kevin Sandwith.

I think he is a great signing and there are loads of possibilities on poor puns with his surname!

If he was always in the bunker when playing golf he would be Kevin Sandwedge.

If he was between two pieces of bread he would be Kevin Sandwich.

If he was fast internet he would be Kevin Bandwidth.

Shall I stop now?

All I know is that he seems to be a bit of a Chris Blackburn player so that will be good enough for me.

Hi Kevin Sandcastle. Enjoy being a Terra.

So onto the bigger news (sorry Kev you are taking a pasting!!) and the clubs new sponsor and away kit (ahem!)...

...which are both due to be revealed tomorrow.

I can honestly say I have no idea who the new sponsor is going to be and it will be as much of a surprise to TerrasBlog as the rest of you when I log on to the clubs official site at 1200.

I have heard the same rumours as the rest of you I am sure. Will it be a sporting event? a Premiership connection? a Charity? who knows!!!

It's so annoying waiting so though...

The club is getting good at these press launch thingies and opening them to fans in their lunch breaks. I might struggle to get from Peterborough and back in an hour so I will be tuning in on the 'net.

Finally for today a new exciting blog feature and TerrasBlog exclusive!!!!

Former club Chairman Mel Bush has been hired by the blog to give gardening advice in a hilarious new series called...

Mel's Bushes

"Hi folks, former Weymouth FC chairman Mel Bush here. Sorry for buggering off last year without so much as a goodbye.

I am delighted to have been asked by TerrasBlog to do some gardening tips on the site and I am delighted to announce that Mel's first Bush is...

... The Conifer.

Conifer

Bye for now"

umm see ya Mel. More soon. Maybe
