Ho! ho! holy shit we got beat at the death...

Yep Weymouth snatched defeat out of the jaws of a point at Mansfield in the Blue Square Premier yesterday. The Terras had led through star striker Stuart Beavon before the Stags (under new management) staged a Christmas comeback. And well done them. They seem to be turning their season around, and you don't hear so much about off the field dramas too. Let's hope we can replicate that bit before too long.

And it would appear that there is a possibility Weymouth could be under new owners before Santa drops. The smart money is of course on Dave Higson and his local business consortium. The one thing that still looks likely even with this change at the top will be the trimming down of the players come January. And that makes sense.

Even if it means a relegation battle, we have to now start living within our means, and if that means average crowds of less than a thousand and part time players and staff, I would take that.

It's time we stopped using our geography as an excuse to have to pay over the top for players. It's about time we stopped messing local companies around and started to win their trust back.

But most of all it is time to for the club to start paying back those fans who have stuck with the Terras through thin and thinner recently.

Would I accept the club asking to move down to Conf South is a question posed in an email the other day to the blog. Absolutely. Even though my travelling costs would increase, the clubs would go down... I don't want to give up the clubs Conference position but I would rather us play in a league we can afford to play in.

Is there a chance of good news tomorrow? Let's hope so. It will make for a very Merry Christmas for me and many others.

TerrasBlog 29/11/2008

Short and sweet today... Terras face Mansfield at the Wessex Stadium this afternoon as a week of off the field politics can be put aside for 90 minutes of football.

Stuart Beavon, courted by that mahogany tosser Tindall af Bournemouth is suspended but other than that we have a reasonably full squad for John Hollins Alan Lewer Marcus Browning to pick from.

The Dorset Echo article which features Beaver, who along with Anton Robinson and Scott Doe is the clubs most saleable asset talks a lot of sense.

Robinson has featured for England C this season

Rather than bastardise it for the blog, why not have a read for yourself by clicking here

All the best to the lads today, it is nice to have a match which can take all of our minds off the troubles and have a goal or five to celebrate from the Terras.

So could Campbell not be so souper? The Dorset Echo website is reporting that fellow Conference side Mansfield Town are looking to highjack the Terras bid for Andy Campbell.

This is the secret million pound footballer mentioned in dispatches all week and who was seemingly in line to join Weymouth. But that all appears to be up in the air after the Terras bid to keep the identity of their target secret failed.

What will happen next? who knows... it is very frustrating that the deal is now in the public domain and clubs other than Mansfield will probably be on alert too.

I hope that there are other targets out there for John and Alan to focus their energy on if this falls through.

(Can I be honest and say that I don't remember hearing of him before?!)

After all of the controversy surrounding the new Terras Crest released the other week (see below)

A new South Dorset sports club has revealed theirs to the world today.

The South Dorset Giants are an affiliated club with the Weymouth RUFC and will be playing the other code to the Union currently on offer.

Rugby League is an ace sport. I love the big hits and the flow of the game (caused by the six tackle ruling) and to have a team in our area will be great. I only hope people get along and offer their support when Terras are away.

The link to the website is here. And that new logo...

Our good friend from over the Ridgeway the Cerne Abbas Giant!!!

Good luck to them for next season.
