As a proud member of “Sam’s Army“, I always enjoy watching the the U.S. National Team in action, whether it be the Men’s or Women’s team. The only thing that sucks is, the nats only play like what, maybe 10-12 matches per year…sometimes less. Well I guess it’s a good thing I support Fulham FC because more and more, Fulham is becoming the U.S National Team. You hear people refer to Fulham as “USA FC” or “Fulham America” and to a certain extent, I think that bothered me a bit because usually there were negative comments associated with it. But now I think I’m becoming proud to hear such things said and if the rumor I first read this morning in the comments section of THIS POST is true, there will be another U.S National joining the Cottagers.

According to the New York Times, Fulham may be interested in Chivas USA’s talented young goalkeeper Brad Guzan. Brad is currently with the U.S. National Team and is expected to start in goal versus Sweden tomorrow night. The rumor is, Fulham is offering a $2.8 Million Dollar transfer fee to MLS for Guzan and that scouts will be in Carson tomorrow night to watch him in action.

Now before you get too excited about this deal, I believe if Eddie Johnson was having work permit issues, then Guzan will probably have them as well. I can’t be sure, but I’m guessing EJ had more USA caps last season than Guzan did.  Would I love to see this happen? Sure, he’s a talented keeper and I feel Fulham would be a good fit for him. Now he does have mental lapses at times, so that would need to be corrected, but he’s young and has much room to improve.

If he is signed, I’m going to assume that Kasey Keller would probably end up being let go at the end of the season. I think Keller should finish his career in Major League Soccer anyways, so it may be time for that to happen.

I love the transfer season and everyday the rumors get more and more interesting.
