You read the title right. I do think Aston Villa have a legitimate chance at casuing an upset at Old Trafford on Saturday. Yes, they have been
shockingly bad recently. Yes, they did lose to Sunderland at home last week. But they are good side. They caused us a lot of problems at the Emirates a couple of weeks ago and we were
lucky to get a point from that game. I know this is all rather hopeful but if Villa can snap out of the crappy form they're in on Saturday, I reckon they could give United a real fight.

Chelsea host Boro, so that's probably three points for them and if Arsenal can beat Bolton at the Reebok then it could make the title race very interesting. I am
pretty confident that Arsenal can turn things around and start winning again at Bolton on Saturday. That said, Bolton are fighting to stay out of the relagation zone, so they could be a
      difficult prospect.

The best game of the weekend is obviously Derby vs Fulham while West Ham make the trip to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland. If Sunderland win
this game they could be seven points above the drop zone and I think they have a very good chance of beating the Hammers this weekend.

Wigan go to Portsmouth and Steve Bruce's men will need a couple of more wins to make sure they stay above the relagation zone but one of those wins won't come here.
Portsmouth have been in very good form of late, scoring lots of goals and I can't see them losing to Wigan at home.

Birmingham desperately need some points agaisnt Man City and I think there is a strong possibility they will get something from this game as you never know what Man
City team is going to turn up these days. Blackburn go to the Madejski Stadium to take on a Reading side who all of a sudden just can't stop winning and I think their winning ways will
      continue on Saturday.

After winning for the first time in aeons, Newcastle will be confident heading in to their clash with Spurs at White Hart Lane on Sunday. Whilst Tottenham do concede
a lot of goals, they do score a lot of them aswell and seeing as Newcastle's defending is even worse than Spurs', I think Tottenham could put three or four
past the Magpies in this one.

The big fixture of the weekend though, is probably the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield. Last time this two teams met, the refereeing was
absolute catastrophe so lets hope it's a little better this time around. This tie also has rather big implications on the race for the last Champions League spot. Everton have been very, very
good this season and David Moyes has done brilliant job but their form has dipped a bit recently and Liverpool will be looking to bounce back following their 'performace' at Man United last
      week.

Right, no more football. To the NBA we go.

When the Miami Heat traded Shaquille O'Neal (I know you've heard of him) to the Phoenix Suns, many people questioned whether he could fit into the Sun's style
of play. Their style is very unique, running up down the court and scoring lots of points. O'Neal is 35, 7 foot 1 and 330 pounds and as he has been getting older, he has had more and more
injuries. Not a lot of people could see him running up and down the court for a whole game. Well, credit to Suns coach Mike D'Antoni. It looks like, after a shaky start, that the trade is
working out to be a smart one. Shaq is managing to get up and down the court without collapsing each time and is making a significant contribution to the team. The Suns recently had a nine
game winning streak and come playoff time, having Shaq and his experience there will be invaluable.

That's all for today's blog, more from me after the weekend.

Jeremy's thoughts on........why it's probably all over now

Well, I think that's it to be honest with you.

We really needed to win that game against Chelsea. We played quite well at times, we had our chances and thanks to Sanga's header in the 58th minute we had a lead.
But it didn't last as Didier Drogba scored twice in the space of ten minutes to effectively ruin our title chances. Drogba was at his best on Sunday. Strong, powerful and in the
end, clinical in front of goal. He was a handful for Gallas and Toure and they had real trouble dealing with him. With United still to go to Stamford Bridge and a trip to Old
Trafford coming up for us in a couple of weeks, there is still a possibility we can still win the league. But we need to win every game from now on and I said the exact same
thing last week and look what happened, so, unfortunately, I think it may just be out of reach.

Man United took apart Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday. The minute Mascherano got sent off it was all over. What a tit. He didn't have to go and berate the
referee after Torres got a yellow card. If Mascherano had a single working brain cell, he would have stayed where he was instead of running to go and shout at the referee. Even Xabi Alonso
tried to stop him but Mascherano obviously knew better and the way he acted when he was sent off was just ridiculous. Just grow up you overpaid idiot. Why Benetiz tried to defend him
after the game is beyond me as is why he decided to play Torres on his own up front. Fools I tell you, fools

Kevin 'The Messiah' Keegan finally got his first win since coming back to Newcastle after about a million attempts. Villa continued their shoddy form as they
were beaten by Sunderland thanks to Michael Chopra's late strike. Villa were in the running for the last Champions League spot about a month ago but after a run of absolutely terrible
results they've dropped all the way to seventh.

Boro vs Derby was as boring as everybody thought it would be but I didn't expect Man City to not score against Bolton. After a good win over Spurs the previous week
I thought they had picked up some momentum. Obviously not. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Man City are the most inconsistent team in the league.

Blackburn beat Wigan in a game I thought Wigan could actually win but Santa Cruz seems to have rediscovered his form as he scored two goals to help Rovers to a
3-1 win. Reading continued their good form as they won another key game, this time against Birmingham. Andre Bikey's second goal of the game won it for the Royals after Birmingham had drew
      level.

For the second week in a row, Everton dropped points at home as they drew 1-1 with West Ham but, with Liverpool losing, it hasn't done too much harm to
their chances of grabbing the last Champions League spot.

That's all for the football on this blog.

      On to the NBA then.

I'm going to use this space to write about a young team that has probably been the surprise of the season in the NBA. The Philadelphia 76ers weren't supposed to be
anywhere near the playoffs this year but having won 19 of their last 24 games they have pushed themselves into playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. After trading their best player,
Allen Iverson, to Denver last season I thought it would be years until the 76ers would be a playoff team again. But with Andre Miller playing the best basketball of his career and
Andre Iguodala emerging as a potential All-Star, the 76ers are beginning to look like a very dangerous team. And it looks as if they will only get better in the years to come. With young
players like rookie Thaddeus Young (19), Louis Williams (21) and Rodney Carney (23) the Sixers future looks very bright.

All done for today's blog then. But never fear, I shall be back tomorrow with a preview of the weekend's football action. I can sense your excitement from here.
      Laters.

Jeremy's thoughts on........possibly the biggest games of the season so far

Hello everybody and I hope you are all enjoying your Easter weekeneds so far. Yes, yes I did say I would post a new blog on
Friday but I didn't because I'm lazy. Very lazy.

Right then, during the week we had Chelsea and Man United both in action. Bolton never really had a chance against the league leaders at Old Trafford as the game was
put away after twenty minutes thanks to two more Cristiano Ronaldo goals. He does have a knack for scoring doesn't he? That's 33 goals this season. From a winger. As much as I dislike him,
that is quite an impressive record. Both Chelsea and Tottenham said bollocks to defending as they managed to share eight goals between them at White Hart Lane. Ashley Cole really should've
been sent off for a scandolous challenge on Alan Hutton but only received a yellow.

Anyway, this means that this Sunday's games are absolutely huge in terms of the title race. If United beat Liverpool, that means they could be six points clear,
meaning that three points is a must for Arsenal against Chelsea. I really mean that this time, too much fucking about with teams like Wigan and Boro has put us in a position where nothing but
wins are needed from here until the end of the season. And if Liverpool can do us a favour by drawing or even beating United, I would be very, very grateful. I'd be so grateful that I would
      probably send them a cake.

Right, today we had Portsmouth and Tottenham in the early kick-off which has just ended with Spurs winning 2 - 0. Well done Tottenham, you're still eleventh.

Derby visit Boro and the less said about this game the better while we have a stuttering Villa side take on Sunderland, who are fighting to stay above the relagation
zone. I like Sunderland and a win here will really help their chances of staying up.

The exciting match ups just keep coming as Newcastle host Fulham in a game that Newcastle really, really need to win because another loss could make relagation a
      very realistic possibility.

Wigan go to Ewood Park to face Rovers, and with the way Steve Bruce has Wigan playing you could say that Wigan are favourites for the win here. Yes, Blackburn have
      been that shit.

Man City should be able to take three points against Bolton at the Reebok whilst Reading should be able to take one more step to safety with a victory over
      Birmingham at the Madejski.

The late kick-off sees West Ham travel to Goodison Park to face an Everton side who, after being knocked out of the UEFA Cup, lost to Fulham. Ouch. West Ham have
some momentum following their win against Rovers last week but Everton have more to play for as they will look to keep the pressure on Liverpool for the last Champions League spot.

Ok, that's it for the Premiership.

Another quick update on the NBA and that shall be all.

Not much going on in the NBA this week. After Houston lost to the Celtics to end their 23 game winning streak, they lost again, which means they have dropped to
third in the Western Conference. That must be a bit annoying. You'd think after winning 23 games in a row that you would be in first place for quite a long time but no, two losses and they're
      back down to third.

That's it for today's blog. Hope you all have a good Easter Sunday and all that. Laters.

Jeremy's thoughts on.....a miserable weekend

A happy Wednesday to all of you from a rather annoyed Arsenal fan.

If you remember from my last blog I said Arsenal needed all three points on Saturday against Boro. With the Gunners being at the Emirates I thought this task wasn't
exactly going to be beyond us. Apparently it was, as that little shit Jeremie Aliadiere (ex Arsenal boy) scored early in the first half. If William Gallas had spent less time waving
his arms in the air for offside and concentrated more on defending, he could've have been in the right position to cut out the cross that lead to the goal. But no, he's a dick, and Aliadiere
scored. We were lucky to equalise as Kolo Toure's header was deflected into the back of net with five minutes to go. If we are serious about winning this title, I want the boys to pull
their heads out of their arses and start looking (and playing) like a fucking team that wants it. Birmingham, Wigan and Boro. That's who we have drawn with. They should all have been three
      points.

Man United are now top after winning at Derby (not quite the demolition job I though it would be) and have a game in hand against Bolton tonight at Old Trafford. And
since they play Liverpool early on Sunday (we face Chelsea later in the day) we could end up being six points adrift. It's starting to look like a three horse race now for the title with
Chelsea now only being three points behind the top two after beating Sunderland. They also have a game in hand (vs Tottenham tonight). Arsenal really can't afford any more shitty
performances like the one's we have been seeing. I think it will be extremely tough (a trip to Old Trafford still beckons) but we can we can still win the title and I would be very
disappointed if we came away from this season with no silverware. I may even cry. But probably not.

Moving on, Liverpool managed to overcome a strong performace from Reading to win at Anfield (Torres scored again!) and Villa keeper Scott Carson made a complete
tit out of himself as he was at fault for both of Portsmouth's goals on Saturday. Not good. Especially with England manger Fabio Capello watching.

West Ham ended their run of consecutive 4 - 0 defeats by beating Blackburn 2 -1. Freddie Sears, on his debut no less, was the hero, scoring the winner with ten
minutes left to go. Fulham improved their hopes of staying in the Premiership (slightly) by beating Everton.

Even though they played for 85 mins with only ten men, Wigan were able to beat Bolton 1 - 0 at the shithole that is also known as the JJB stadium. We had Robbie
Keane having a strop after being substituted agaisnt Man City. I must admit I did laugh. I also laughed when Nedum Onuoha scored to give Man City the 2 - 1 win against
      Spurs.

Newcastle and Birmingham drew but nobody cares becauses Newcastle are so mind - numbingly shit that even talking about them is tedious. So I'm not going
      to.

That's about it for the football side of things. There will be a preview of the weekend's games in Friday's blog. That's something to look forward to isn't
      it.

Don't worry, I won't go on about the NBA too much this time round.

If you remember from last week's blog, I said the Houston Rocket's winning streak would end against the Lakers. Well, it didn't. Shows how much I know. No, instead
it ended last night agaisnt the Boston Celtics. 23 games in a row without defeat is quite impressive and that now stands as the second longest of all time. What's odd though is that even
with the winning streak, the Rockets aren't being considered as the best team in the NBA and they aren't even favourites to win the Championship year. I don't think they
will. I don't think they are the best team in the NBA, that accolade goes to the Boston Celtics, the team that beat them last night.

I think I will wrap it up there. More on Friday.

Jeremy's thoughts on........a busy weekend ahead

        Hello there,

This is my first blog and for those of you who are actually going to read this (which probably isn't a lot of you, if any) you are in for a treat. It will include
match reports, previews and whole load of other stuff that will surely make you come back for more. See how I'm drawing you in here. Yes. Moving swiftly on though, today's blog will
touch on a vareity of things ranging from the this weekend's football games as well as basketball in America (NBA)

Yes, before we start I suppose I should make a few things clear. Firstly, as much as I enjoy the Premier League, I have taken a liking to American Sports in
recent years and whilst I know this is a football website, I will try and break the mould somewhat by branching off into other areas of the sports spectrum. Secondly, you should all know
that I'm an Arsenal fan and despite this I will try to do my best to be as unbiased and fair as I can be. Sometimes.

Right, onwards with the blog then. During the week they were several Premiership games, we had Chelsea beat the living shit out of some lousy pub team at Stamford
Bridge bringing them five points behind leaders Arsenal. Frank Lampard scored four goals, including a second half hat - trick in ten minutes (TEN!), and Salomon Kalou and Joe Cole added to
misery that is Derby's absolute bloody nightmare of a season. When you concede 63 goals in season, like Derby have, then you might end up having the worst Premiership season of all time,
which is what Derby are having. Oh dear. We also had Portsmouth come off their big FA Cup upset over the weekend to beat Birmingham 4 -2 at home. Villa drew against Boro after Gareth Barry
converted a late, and contentious, penalty.

Now, on to this weekend's game.

First off, we have Derby hosting Manchester United in what will be a complete joke of a game as Ronaldo and Rooney will look to do better than the six
that Chelsea put past the hapless Rams during the week. With the win, (and let's face it , they're going to to crush them) United will go top of the table, as Arsenal will play Boro in
        the day's late kick-off.

With league form being complete shite recently, the Gunners will need all three points here to reatin their position at the top of the table. Boro are the only
team to have beat Arsenal in the league this season but that was at the Riverside and Hleb, Fabregas and Flamini were all absent. I fully expect a win from Arsenal, we really can't
afford to drop any more points at home (especially with a trip to Chelsea coming up next weekend) and with the return of Mr Glass himself, Robin van Persie, I'm hoping for some goals at
the Emirates on Saturday. COME ON YOU REDS!

Reading head to Anfield to take on Liverpool in what should be a good game. Reading are looking to continue their good form and push themeselves out
of the drop zone. Liverpool will want to tighten their hold on fouth place and coming off their big win in the San Siro during the week it's hard to bet against Liverpool in this one.
Mind you, Reading did beat Liverpool 3 -1 last time round, so you never know. But I think it will be a case of too much Torres and Gerrard for the Royals on Saturday.

Chelsea visit Sunderland in what could be a close one. Sunderland aren't exactly safe from relegation so they will come out fighting I think. But Chelsea have too
much money and too much talent for Roy Keane's squad to deal with as they will want to keep the pressure on the top two.

West Ham don't want another four goals put past them (three games in a row yikes!) and Blackburn probably couldn't do it even if they wanted to so I'm saying a
draw here. I give the Hammers a slight edge as they are at home but with Santa Cruz's dip in form and a lack of goals generally from Blackburn, this could be a 0-0 snore - fest.

Villa make the trip to Fratton Park to take on a Pompey side which is full of confidence right now. Villa are losing ground in the race for fourth place (and that
means last Champions League spot) and with a win, Portsmouth could overtake Martin O'Neil's team for sixth place. Even though Pompey's home form was a joke earlier in the season it
has improved somewhat and they are on a roll right now so Pompey will proabably wint this one.

Sunday's games include Everton vs Fulham, and with Everton being eliminated from the UEFA Cup during the week on penalties, they will come out with a chip on their
shoulder. The only way I see Fulham getting anything from this game is if Jimmy Bullard gets a free kick in a decent position, seriously, he won't miss.

There is a relagation six - pointer between Bolton and Wigan this Sunday aswell. Wigan have managed to put a decent string of games together
recently as Steve Bruce has worked wonders on that crap pitch of theirs. With a win, Bolton would drag themselves out of the relagation zone and manager Gary Megson showed where his
priorities lie last night as he rested pretty much the whole of his first team against Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Cup, a game they lost anyway. Tough to say who'll get this one but I think
Wigan will take all three at the JJB.

Man City are such an odd team. They started the season so well and now have become possible the most inconsistent team in the league. Eriksson's men can't seem to
string two wins together. Tottenham will head up to Manchester having been knocked out of the UEFA Cup during the week (penalties again!) and they certainly can score lots of goals, as can
Man City, and both their defenses are utter crap, so it should make for an entertaining game.

Big game on Monday for Kevin Keegan and his joke of a football team. Everybody thought he was going to turn this team around, and to be fair they
have had a lot of injuries, but it just hasn't happened for them and now they are plummeting down the table with one lackluster performance following another. Birmingham are
teetering just above the bottom three and a win here would do very nicely for them. They've been playing well of late and I think they will just want this one more than Newcastle.

Right that's it for the football. Now onto the NBA (National Bsaketball Association).

Not too sure how many of you actually follow basketball here but I'm going to talk about it anyway.

Biggest news of the week is of course the Houston Rocket's 20 game (that's right 20) winning streak. What makes this streak so impressive is that they have done it
(mostly) without their superstar player, 7 foot 6 Yao Ming, who is out for the rest of the season with a foot fracture. They have also managed to do it in a loaded Western
Conference which is full of talented teams. The streak is tied for the second longest in NBA history (tying the 1971 Milwaukee Bucks) and if Houston can win all their remaining games this
season they would break the 1972 Los Angeles Lakers record of 33 straight wins. That won't happen though and my money is on the Rocket's streak coming to an end tonight as
they host Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.

The Miami Heat, already the worst team in the NBA, just got even worse as they decided to put an end to Dwyane Wade's (their best player) season. He has
had knee problems all year and with Miami's season already over, this is probably for the best. But with Shawn Marion now on the team and possibly the No.1 pick in this year's draft (and
that means Michael Beasley) and a rested Wade back next season, the future is bright down on South Beach.

The other big topic in the NBA this week is the MVP (Most Valuable Player) race. It now looks like a two horse race between Kobe Bryant of the LA Lakers and Lebron
James of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Even though Chris Paul is still muscling his way into the picture for the award, (he killed the Spurs to the tune of 26 points, 17 assists, 3 steals and 1
turnover as the Hornets beat the defending champs 100 - 75) I have to agree that it is definitely either going to be Kobe or Lebron who walks away with the MVP award this
season. Both make strong cases. Kobe is playing with a broken finger and still managing to be the best player in the league. You take Lebron off of the Cavaliers, though, and they are
simply nothing. The same can't be said about the Lakers who have Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom along with the very talented Andrew Bynum (who should return in the coming weeks). Lebron's numbers
are better (30.1 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 7.4 apg 49 FG%) but Kobe has his team on top of the better conference whilst James plays in the shockingly bad Eastern Conference. It's going to be close, and
as much as like Lebron, I think Kobe will be awarded his first, and long overdue, MVP award

That's about it for this blog but I will be back (on Sunday probably) with a round up of the Premier League games and more news from the NBA. I bet you
        just can't wait.
