Work at OleOle

Saturday, 26 April 08, 07:00 AM

If you love football, then you’ll fit right in at OleOle.  We’d keep trying to move a football pitch right into our offices, but the landlord keeps saying, “No!”

We reward our team with competitive salaries and of course the opportunity to take part in shaping an online football revolution. We are a globally operating company, and some of our staff have the pleasure of working from home in their jammies.

Regardless of where you are, we have an energetic, positive environment that rewards achievement and success.  We hire talented, local people who share our passion to build the world’s biggest and best place for football online.

OleOle is an equal opportunity employer - and we won’t discriminate based on the team you support.
Really.

We're always looking for great bloggers, sports writers and photographers.  Some positions are paid, some aren't.  If you think you've got something special, send us your resume: jobs @ oleole.com

Web Designer / HTML + CSS Developer

Friday, 10 July 09, 01:45 PM

This contract role is split between heavy-duty HTML/CSS development within the context of PHP templates and design work in Photoshop. The successful candidate will need a proven track record of success working on a large scale 24/7 high traffic global website in a complex technical framework.

Required skills and experience:

  • Expert-level ability with CSS and HTML/XHTML. Candidates must be able to show examples of complex, table-less layouts implemented using CSS and semantically correct mark-up

  • Ability to cut up Photoshop mocks for implementation into frontend mark-up code
  • Strong ability to translate technical requirements into solutions
  • Familiarity with PHP (you won’t be doing hard core PHP coding, but you need to understand things like IF/ELSE statements and loops so you know where to weave in your CSS and HTML)
  • Experience with developing Search Engine Optimized pages (e.g. you know when to use an H1 tag and when not to, the proper SEO way to create links, alt and title tags, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Javascript

  • Experience using version control systems (either SVN or CVS required)
  • Basic familiarity using a command line interface
  • Knowledge of football

Bloggers / Passionate Fans to Write about Football

Monday, 28 April 08, 02:36 PM

Want to quit your job and write about football full-time?
OleOle needs passionate and articulate football supporters to write about their favourite teams, player transfers, matches (pre- and post-), competitions and cups, and of course, WAGS. And whatever else is important to you in the world of professional football.

OleOle Blogger - Unpaid Position

As a blogger on OleOle (unpaid), you’ll be eligible for tons of perks you’ll never see as an independent blogger:

  • First is traffic – once you’re blogging on the OleOle Football Platform, it’s super-easy to find people who are interested in the same things you are, and you’ll see much more traffic than you can gather as a stand-alone blog.
  • OleOle also offers bloggers unique opportunities at competitions – we will assign local bloggers to cover matches and provide press / photo journalist credentials. For the past 2 years OleOle has sent a select few writers to the FIFA Club World Cup in Tokyo, Japan.
  • Winning a blog contest can hook you up with cools stuff – jerseys, merchandise and the like – and even score you a chance to go to an international competition like the UEFA Euro, including travel and match tickets / press credentials.
  • Support – don’t maintain your own HTML, scores, groups, team roster, or any of that stuff – we’ve already got it. Focus on writing, not running a website.
  • But, just like an independent blogger, we won’t edit any of your content. Ever.

To Apply - Unpaid
Not everyone has what it takes to be a paid blogger, but that shouldn’t stop you for writing about your passion on OleOle.
We’re looking for proof that you can generate traffic to your blog.

  1. So, first, setup a blog on OleOle. If you already have a blog, we have tools to make it easy to transfer your old blog posts from WordPress and other blog tools directly to OleOle.
  2. Then, start writing great content and assign the right Topics to it. Your posts will show up on all the relevant sections of the site.
  3. Most importantly, start promoting your blog. Get it noticed on OleOle and elsewhere by getting people to link to your blog and your posts. Attract a solid reader base.
  4.  As your traffic increases and OleOle fans add your blog to their “Favourite Blogs” widget, you’ll prove you have what it takes to be a paid blogger at OleOle.
  5. That's it!  Super easy.
  6. Later this year, we plan on introducing a revenue sharing program so you can benefit directly from traffic on your blog.

OleOle Writer – Paid Position
We have very few paid positions at OleOle - you must have at least 30,000 unique visitors a month for consideration (on OleOle, or on a blog somewhere else).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have blog traffic equivalent to at least 5,000 unique visitors per day / 30,000 unique visitors a month
  • Solid understanding of all sections related to the anatomy of a blog; solid foundation in search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Ability to utilize reporting tools for analysis of traffic, referral links and reader demographics
  • Ability to leverage syndication and pinging tools, social bookmarking, sharing features
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Maturity and poise to act as ambassador and liaison for the company in your local market
  • Ability to develop collaborative partnerships on-line and off-line

Think you have what it takes to be a full time blogger with us?
Email a CV, your blog(s) URL(s), and the last 3 months of blog metrics. We’re looking for great blogs and bloggers in 10 languages and 30+ countries. jobs @ oleole.com
