"Form is temporary, class is permanant", well thats what they say isn't it. Just like another saying which fits this special club. "Rafa the tactian magician". Rafa came from sunny spain, in 2004, and straight away the fans loved him. Making songs, and warming to his cheeky smile and his politic type interviews. But even a man of his stature, had days when you wondered, "his he the man for the job". His first season in the premiership, wasn't the best and for the first time in a while, we finished beneath Everton. This might not seem a great deal, but to kopites this was a sin. Also finishing fifth, meant we wouldn't qualify for the champions league the next season. All hope gone, or had it?
Even though he didn't get to grasp with the premiership as much as we hoped, he did seem to do fairly well in the champions league. However, even then we had our bumpy times. At one point it seemed we wouldn't get through the group stages. We needed to win 1-0 or by two clear goals in the final game to get to the final 16, and it seemed it wouldn't happen when rivaldo scored a superb free kick, in first half. This is when we needed Rafa, and he came up trumps. Lets say, he turned the game around and we got to the final sixteen. I won't go into all the details, so I'll just skip to the final, yes the final.
We believed this would be the game for us, we would win big ears for the fifth time, but our hopes, our dreams dashed as we went 3-0 down in the first half. How on earth could we win it now? Well this is when he showed his class, and the story cut short, we won the european cup and the rest is history. Since then he has showed his class in many games and we have gained a believe around Anfield that maybe, jusy maybe, he his going to be the guy who will bring the premiership home, because ask any kopite and In Rafa, We Trust!
