Good morning peeps, sorry about yesterday, wasn't feeling to great and to be honest I'm still not this morning so apologies for whatever state this ends up in.
In a way, I'm kinda glad I didn't blog yesterday as Arsenal 'news' and blogs were dominated by the farce of a story that is 'Cesc to Spain'. It is beyond tedious now and I can't understand how any proper Arsenal fan can get themselves into such a flurry by reading the redtops rather than listening to Cesc himself.
And even when one of the clubs comes out and says they aren't interested in Cesc the papers and websites don't let it go. There were flurries all round yesterday it seemed, with only a few managing to keep their heads.
Why aren't UEFA doing anything? If what Barcelona, and to a lesser degree with us, Real Madrid, do is not tapping up then what the hell is it? Does anyone here seriously think that if it was the other way round that UEFA wouldn't be involved by now? There's no way Sepp Blattermouth and Michel Pratini would have been able to keep their opinions to themselves. Laws would have been changed, fines would have been issued, hell, points probably would have even been docked and Champions League places removed. As it stands, I think Blatter holds the phone while Pratini dials the number to save Laporta's poor little fingers.
Anyway, old ground, fresh wounds, it still irritates the fuck out of me (and I'm sure I'm not alone).
While we're on the subject, Arshavin has confirmed that he is going nowhere, at least not yet. It
seems he still isn't happy with the tax situation but it's hard to feel sympathy for someone who, after tax, still earns in a week what it would take me years to earn pre-tax for
doing what millions the world over would do for minimum wage.
At board level, the lesser of two evils has increased his holding to 28.58% which is perilously close to the 30% which would require a takeover bid. What this means and where it will take Arsenal I don't really know but shares in Kroenke's pocket means they aren't in Jabba's. It is still the lesser of two evils as I said, but we'll have to wait and see where it all ends up.
News wise, there is bugger all going on (shocker). We are still rumoured to be going after Matuidi for around £2.5m (I want to buy him just so I can call him Tootie Frootie Matuidi - I know, I'm easily entertained), Melo is still 'more than likely' going to Juventus which is fine with me as I don't want a player at Arsenal who would rather be somewhere else (hear that 25?) and Melo has made it very clear that he wants to be somewhere else.
The Reserve fixtures were announced yesterday and the interesting thing I could see is that there is no Spuds
team. Now I know there's all sorts of different Reserve leagues, but weren't the Spuds in our league last year? I'm nearly certain I remember our kids playing them in the league as well
as the youth cup. Strange that the Spuds wouldn't enter, but it just shows their strength in depth (or lack of).
Aaron Ramsey had some stuff to say about lessons learnt last year blah blah blah, you all know my feeling on these fecking lessons. Schools over boys, time to graduate. Good to hear from him though, makes a nice change.
And that's your lot for today, just think, this time next week we'll be discussing ACTUAL football as Arsenal prepare to take on the behemoths that are Barnet in the annual curtain raiser to our season. While I know we'll only see the kids take to the field, the thought of Arsenal, whatever string, playing makes me smile.
But for now, I'm away back to bed!

That comment looks weird when you have removed the previous one.
I can't wait a week. I'm trying to get as many people as possible into our Fantasy football but there's still a long way to go before it starts.
