I'm back...even though the football isn't

Wednesday, 14 October 09, 12:33 AM · Comments(23)

Hello hello hello. Did you miss me? I promise that I had every intention of blogging at least once while in Amsterdam, an intention which can be confirmed by knowing that the first thing I asked the hotel reception was 'how much is your broadband?' It was her answer that prevented any further progress with the matter. £22 for 24 hours! WTF But surely they have a weekly rate, and they did. £88. For the week. For broadband that only works when you are actively using your PC (so you can't even set a load of things to download overnight to maximise your megabytes for money). OK, so there were quite a few wifi cafes I could have taken either the laptop or the iPhone to, but I was either too lazy, stoned, or asleep to be bothered to remember to bring them with me when I left the hotel. By the time I remembered I was either too lazy, stoned or asleep to go back and get them.

Come on, it was Amsterdam! What did you expect?

I did use the 3G on my iPhone to check my emails a sum total of three times..the cost? Over £30!

All went as was expected. Very little was done, but lots was smoked and eaten. I managed to leave my permanent mark on Amsterdam after I dropped the iron on the floor in the hotel room and managed to burn an iron-shaped hole in the carpet, and, not to be undone, Garantia managed to throw a bottle of blackcurrant fanta all over the crisp white sheets and pillow cases. Yes, my friends, it was a wild time!

To be fair, and to be honest, all damage that happened occurred early in the morning when nothing had been imbibed, and just adds to my theory that the world would work much better if everyone was on drugs permanently.

Needless to say, the Interlull has not been quite as painful on me as it seems to have been on some of you out there.

I've been incredibly lazy since my return, still on 'Dam time I think, so I've gleaned all the Arsenal news worth knowing from blogs such as Cesc is God and Tales from Gillespie Road. I'm sure I threw in the Arseblogger as well. It seems that in my absence transfer rumours have not gotten any more creative, with Cesc and Gael being linked with Barca and Real respectively. Yawn

What might be the best exclusive of all time, Jamrock Rover broke the news that Messi will be coming our way in January as Barca show that they really have a heart, understand football, and have had biology lessons clarifying the role of DNA and how a football club can't actually be encoded into it no matter how many times you say it. They were lifted though with the news that for the price of three Ronaldos they could manipulate actual DNA and engineer players to have red and blue skin. Not quite the blood, but at least it is a step in the right direction and will be visible for everyone to see.

Well, we can but dream can't we?

On a serious note in relation to Barcelona and Cesc, has the time not now come that Arsenal Football Club stand up and say 'ENOUGH'? The fact that their behaviour has now become 'expected' and accepted shows how long it has been going on. I acknowledge that there will always be speculation regarding players and clubs, but the degree to which Barca take this with Cesc far exceeds anything which has gone before (Real/Ronaldo included). At the very least they are unsettling, on a constant basis, the Captain of a club in which they are in direct competition in the Champions League. The player can make his position no clearer than he already has. Arsenal say no more. Perhaps now is the time to take action. How? I don't know, but surely this type of behaviour must have a line at which it is not acceptable to cross. Everything does. Barcelona crossed the line a long, long time ago. Arsenal need to grow a pair and do something about it.

Tonight sees the final round of Internationals (for a month at least) and we can get back to the business of picking up the pieces and patching our players together. Not wanting to tempt the fates, but it could be worse, we only have Birmingham at home this weekend and their injury list is worse than ours. At the minute.

Before I go, I would just like to say a special great big thank you to Eduardo Is Innocent (that's still his name right?) for snagging me a ticket for the Spuds match. You are a legend Sir..must go book flights :)

See you all tomorrow...I'm off to unpack, deciding to book today off work so I didn't have to get up at 5am was a stroke of genius!

Unbelievable... :|

The picture of Cesc having his ankle stamped on would have been preferable.

I think Man City have absolutely no intention of signing Cesc and realise they are the last club he would ever join. It's just a great opportunity for them to get a mention along side a few European giants. Raising their profile and what not... :|

Do you know how much effort has to go in to throwing a TV out the window? and how much effort I had left after a few of Amsterdam's finest cigs? :D

Has anyone seen the Steve Martin and Keith Moon sketch from Saturday Night Live?

I've come close to getting another one for £90 but the system won't allow me to add them to my basket and says something about them being either locked or unavailable.

It's infuriating at times.

If you're with Vodafone just ask what bill paying deals they have. I tried to switch networks and the assistants in every phone store told me to stick with the deal I had if I used the internet a lot on my phone. When I get the new Nokia N97 I intend to use it even more. :D
