Well, last night was a mixed bag wasn't it? A superb performance, a comfortable two-nil win, the worst referee seen in a long time, Gallas and Arshavin assaulting each other while Arshavin did
his best for the Standard defence and a busted foot for Gibbs in a match he probably shouldn't have been playing in.
Then, on top of all that you have the Scousers joining the ruling elite in the Europa league as their luck shows no sign of changing. If you like a good chuckle at the expense of others, have a
read of this http://www.lfc-endofseasonparty.com/ I don't generally partake in gloating, but I made an exception in this case. The face on
Stevie G at the end of the Fiorentina match was just picture perfect. I swear he was on the verge of tears. It was, as they say, great TV.
Nasri showed why it's a bad idea to be on the opposing side to Diaby in training and what it had cost us by getting the scoring underway with a sublime half volley after the Standard player
fell on his arse. Denilson, making his first start since September, managed to mark his 100th appearance for Arsenal (seriously, how did he get to 100 so fast?) with a thunderbolt of a strike
which moved so much the keeper dived past it. We should have had quite a few more not even taking into consideration the penalties (for both sides - one for them two for us) which the ref just
decided he wouldn't bother giving.
All round, it was a good performance. But, and you knew there had to be a but, Almunia is worrying me greatly. He had very little to do, but when called into action he showed delayed reactions
and a general level of cluelessness which has come to define his season. There was one attempt by Standard which he saved simply by virtue of going down before the player had made any contact
with the ball. Had the player made any significant contact it was a goal, but, luckily for Almunia, the Standard player scuffed it. What is up with him? I know he's never been a world-beater,
but this year he looks so disorientated in goal it's becoming frightening.
We all know by now the severity of Kieran's injury, a 'gaping hole' as Wenger described it, and for a break to be confirmed so soon after the match shows just how bad it is. Three months and
world cup hopes (sssh, don't let Wenger hear me say that) seriously jeopardised. You have to feel for the lad. Then again, why was he playing? To receive an impact injury (albeit on the other
foot) which was so bad that it was immediately thought a break and then to come back just a week later in a game there was no real need for him to play to me was just madness. There would have
been no problem playing Traore in last night's game, for all his defensive frailties, he could have more than coped against Liege. And, even if he hadn't, we had enough about us to score more
than he let past him. It was a very strange decision by Wenger and one which might come eto bit us in the arse on Sunday. But that's a long way off so we'll look at that more closer to the
time.
I finally heard from Arsenal today, wanting my address so they can send me my Herbert Chapman signed football, so keep an eye out for photos when it finally arrives. Do you think they'll send
it in a display case? Nah, me neither.
All that remains today then is to remind you of the competition which will be running until midnight after the Chelsea game. You can win a large 'Let's Talk About Cesc' Tshirt (click on the link to have a look at it in more detail).
Unlike most competitions though, this one will require a tiny bit of skill.
So, to win (and you can enter as many times as you like), simply send your ideas for what would make the perfect Arsenal Tshirt to info@ladyarse.com. It would help if you could put 'TSHIRT COMPETITION' in the subject line (or click the email address above and that'll do it for you).
It can be about Arsenal club, players past and/or present, or slagging off any other player or team in the league, the topic is open. Basically, it only has to be a TShirt an Arsenal fan would
love to wear.
The winner will be announced in the first blog after the Chelsea game, and please note that by entering you're giving me permission to use your ideas to make a TShirt/TShirt
transfer...well...you didn't think I was doing it TOTALLY free did you?
So let's be having your ideas then...info@ladyarse.com and it would be appreciated if they could be in English as I'm an
ignorant fool

At least in Wenger's defence Gibbs broke the other foot to the 1 he injured for England under 21s.
Spot the glarring mistake in the first few paragraphs..LINK
I think they should send it in a display case. You're hardly taking it down to the park for a kick about.
Pay up Arsenal. Pay up now, you cheapskates!!
heh heh, I remember that save last night.
It reminded me of the Roma pen shoot out when he saved the ball sitting on his arse.

The Sun.. only a good year behind the times..

I know, makes a change me not being the one saying stupid things lol
And the funniest thing is there are 42 comments on the article and not one of the muppets noticed..I@d point it out to them but you can't comment on the Sun's website without joing up and that's something I will not be doing
grrr why do my keys keep moving about the keyboard...the @ took the place of the '
When we were cruising with a fit squad it all made perfect sense and the team more or less picked itself. Now we have some key players and, importantly, understudies to those positions out injured and the decisions get tougher. I'm sure, were there any doubt about Gibbs' fitness, he would have been on the bench. No question at all. It was just a stupid late challenge by a guy who shouldn't have been on the pitch. I don't think you can criticise Arsene for that.

Heh heh... force of habit.
Are you going to have a go at the 'KFC' t-shirt?
Arsene with a Colonel Sanders soul patch and a bootlace tie.
AFC instead of KFC?
'Wenger looking good'? heh heh.
Just a suggestion.

I am indeed, just trying to work out the best way to do it...you should have entered that in to the competition (even though I already knew about it lol)
I actually have tons of ideas, so it's just a case of working through them...but I can always do with more great ideas...hence the comp

As manay as you like
I'll have to get my thinking cap on.
I stumbled upon your blog a couple of days ago.. I like it..
You are a smart woman. You post a competition and give away one t-shirt. In exchange you get hundreds of ideas for other t-shirts - a true entrepreneur
And yes, with our growing injury list, it is perfectly OK to laugh at the scousses
Arenal for the EPL. Not because of silly blog posts liek this one, but because of the comments made my Wenger and Arshavin.
Remember, the same thing happened to you a few seasons ago, and you lost in the final of the Eufa cup to Galatasary.
Shit happens.
Why is every Liverpool fan a scouser though? We have a bigger world wide fan base than you guys....
Finally, our injury list is far greater than yours. Well finish 4th with some sort of silverware, never you mind
Reply to Neverwalkingalone:
What does your fan base like to be called then.. call you all scousers like I call my fellow arsenal supporters gooners...
Is nice you want Arsenal to win it tho...
As for you injury list being worse, I am not sure thats true and physio room.com agrees with me.
Torres, Gerrard barely fit. Aquilani not match fit. Riera, Benayoun, Agger and Johnson all fighting fitness. Aurelio picking up a knock. Babel...
Hmmmmm. Sounds bad to me.
When your luck isn't in, it just isn't in.
I like Arsenal more than any other team, second only to Liverpool. I wish you guys luck, but posts like this don't make liking you very easy.
I know an Arsenal fan who insists on holding up 4 fingers everytime we speak, then brag about Arshavin. Yet when questioned about how much the Russian cost, or what club he came from, he cant answer. - These things make me hate you guys as supporters. BUT, I know your not all like that
Going pub on Sunday to watch the Arsenal and Liverpool games
Good luck
PS: Lady... You have a nice Arse. Good blog.
Reply to Neverwalkingalone:
How will Aquilini ever get match fit if Rafa won't play him for more than 1 minute?
I'm not one of these people who are calling for Rafa's head. However. I think he needs to re look his man management. He is far to robotic and cold with certain players.
I cant help but feel, had Babel joined Arsenal, he would be worth 25mil by now.
Crouch, Bellamy, Cisse, Babel, Dossena and now Aquilani... They are all feeling the wrath of Rafa's poor man management.
Reply to Neverwalkingalone:
Hey..I'm glad you like the blog (if not this post) and I must say, had it been the Spuds, Manure or Man City I would have had an even bigger laugh...I thought I was quite tame
I must say, your form at the minute does bring back memories of us last season, and perhaps that's where I find the 'laugh'- in the relief that it isn't us this time round.
I suppose it's all part and parcel of football that we laugh at the misfortune of others, and it's never pleasant for the supporters of whichever team are currently experiencing the rough patch...which is why I said I normally don't gloat, I know it could just as easily be us in that position at some point.
Was I really that harsh? Or was it just the headline?
Reply to Neverwalkingalone:
I agree with you about Babel, I just can't get my head around why Rafa won't use him mas a starter..it seems like everytime we play and he's involved he tortures us, the boy is class and worth far more than an arse-groove on the bench
Reply to LadyArse:
Na not Harsh. We are laughing about it ourselves. Well... Most of us are, the whoppers, WUMS and post 2005 supporters are calling for Rafa's head.
I don't see how that helps the club in all honesty. I'm still bitter from the Tottenham blog. They are laughing too. Difference being, I hate Tottenham. I hate them more than fat kids hate vegetables; I must now apologise to all the fat people.
We are under achiveing this season. But Spurs are over achieving. They will soon fall.
Babel is a great player. a lot fo the fans don't like him, but this, is my opinion, is mainly down to how Rafa has managed the player. Justify Ngog getting more starts? Or Voronin getting started over him. It's madness. I just don't think Rafa likes him.
I think Fabregas is an amazing player by the way. I watch our reserves and we have a young spaniard called Pacheco, who plays very much like Cesc Soler Power Fabregas.
Reply to Neverwalkingalone:
Babel ahead of Voronin and Ngog every day of the week
In saying that. Ngog is proving himself to be a bargain at £1.5M
From the last 5 goals we have scored, he has set up scored twice and assisted 3.
He has scored more goals this season than Berba and Owen... 5 goals in 6 starts
va Persie is the best £15M you will ever spend
1.5M*
Reply to Neverwalkingalone:
I think Babel could be become a class player given the chance but how Vorinin ever plays for Liverpool is beyond me.
Im off to write a blog post. Take a read when I'm done. It's totally un related to Liverpool, but a ver funny story from a game I refereed last night

your right, I think Babael woudl shine under Wenger, he is great for the dutch.
Talking of Shite Liverpool players tho, has Lucas got a picture of Rafa in an uncomprimising position that he is willing to take to the press.. whats playing him EVER all about?
I don't believe Lucas is a bad player at all. He isn't amazing, but he isn't poor.
There lays the problem. Lucas never really stands out, so when he does make a mistake, it is very noticable. But what he does do is important. He makes them sidewards passes that begin attacks. He retrieves the ball and most of all, he bullies people. I like Lucas. We could have a better player, but we don't.
Dirk Kuyt is not a right winger. Playing him there is such a poor choice. He gets the ball, runs for 3 yards, stops and then passes is backwards. Never takes on the defence or crosses. Thats why Rafa got Johnson, the attacking ability of Jonhson is needed on the right, while the defensive duites of Kuyt help out Johnson. But I would rather see a great rb who cant attack and a great attacking player who cant defend, than what we have on the right.
I think if you look at our team, it shows we have the ability, but something jus isn't clicking.
Reply to Neverwalkingalone:
To be honest Kuyt and Lucas aren't good enough for any team with pretentions to the title.
Reply to Neverwalkingalone:
I remember a similar argument for Denillson.. I could see the argument for Denilson being a player that ois good but goes un-noticed though, when a lot of people were giving him grief, ...I'm sorry, and this is not just bias, I can't see it with Lucas at all..
