What shall we talk about today? The weather and how it's a bitch? There have been two torrential downpours today, one when I was on my way to work and another when I was on my way home. In between, glorious sunshine in a baking office with no air conditioning. I need to win the lottery and I need to win it soon. I suppose the first step would be to start buying tickets, that might help.
I see that they are giving out free scarves on Saturday for the Portsmouth game which is irritating for a few reasons. 1 - I won't be there to get one. 2 - why do we need to provide scarves to create an atmosphere? Electrifying the seats would be just as effective if not more so. 3. The last time we did something like this, the game was over after 8 minutes and we had to endure 82 minutes of humiliation as we capitulated completely, totally, and utterly, to Man United in the Champions League semi-final second leg. In short, while it might be a nice touch, it is not a good idea. And besides, it's Portsmouth ffs.
Alumunia seems confident that we have ironed out our defensive flaws, and while we can say that in the two games we have had we have looked more solid than the last two seasons, you cannot make a sweeping statement like that. Time (and results) will tell. If the players start thinking we have all our problems sorted them that will just create a whole set of new ones.
God I'm in moaney form today.
Chesney says he is ready for the step up to the first team for the Carling Cup and I agree. I actually rate him more than Mannone from what I've seen. He looks very solid and I believe it won't be long before he's breathing down Nervianski's neck whispering 'your place is mine' (no, I didn't say 'your place OR mine).
VP says that the team now want to fight for each other which is a lot different than last season when all they seemed to want to fight with each other. The removal of two disruptive influences has done more for this squad that the arrival of a world-class star, though I can't say I would be too disappointed if we were to bring one in.
Am I rambling? I feel like I am. What's new I hear some of you say...blah blah blah ;P I can't quite remember how I used to fill my blogs last season in between matches. I guess I could go back
and read some of them but I'm much too lazy for that. Why don't I remember? Ask the magic herbs...
Elsewhere, a super-duper well done to Burnley for their massive win against United last night. Now don't fuck it up by acting like cunts the way another once-liked, newly promoted 'little' club did. There are some things I just don't forget no matter what the herbs say.
I suppose I could waste some time talking about our supposed agreement to sell Cesc next summer (or this if we lose to Celtic), but as it's all just made-up crap from El Mundon't-know I won't be bothering.
And that's your lot for today, here's to today being Thursday, meaning tomorrow is Friday and only one more day of work before football, football, football.
Thank fuck.

LMAO I can't believe I forgot to mention Super Nik's contract extension...til 2014, £50,000 a week...sorted
Am I only one who thinks that we are mirroring Barca mirorring us? Everyone seems to think that Barca showed the world how to play total football, but I do believe in the modern era that honour belongs to Arsene and the Arsenal...perhaps the 4-3-3 is theirs, but we gave them the confidence to go for it by winning the league the way we did with the Invincibles...or am I just biased?
My rambling:
Arsenal - Fabregas can be rested for pompey game.
ManU - Where is your Michael Owen now?
Where is your Michael Owen now?
Where is he? Where is he?
Where is your Michael Owen now?
And apparently, three minutes after I posted my blog, we appointed three new senior executives from the US LINK
"but we gave them the confidence to go for it by winning the league the way we did with the Invincibles"
haha
Seriously, lets not talk about that. Its just 2 games.
(but i know, i am equally excited and in love with the new formation. I was thinking about it from last season)
I know it's only two games, but today I am royally sick of hearing how we are trying to emulate Barca...and I agree, rest Cesc for the Pompey game, even put him on the bench and start Ramsey or Merida, then if it goes pear-shaped we can bring him on
I don't think we should rest him. He only has 2 more games before the international break and the home one against Celtic is looking good already. We don't want it to look like we're taking Portsmouth lightly.
I read today that Nik's Dad has denied that a deal was done
Agreed. Start Cesc and then pull him off if we're a few goals to the good. Games against the lesser teams have proved to be the difference.
That's a strange one, I ran with the story without even checking Arsenal.com where there is no official confirmation. What would his problem be with £50,000 a week and a pretty-much guaranteed first-team place...I'm sure it'll all get sorted soon enough
Maybe Nik just said 'Errr..... ok', went ahead and signed and his Dad doesn't know a thing about it.
Pompey is in shambles.... Fab's got so many kicks already at Celtic park. Arshavin can play in center. Lets see what magic he creates there?
Wenger has the options in merida, eboue or diaby for left.
Play him in 2nd leg, assure the qualification, take him out in 2nd half and target Old Trafford game
ManU is already 3 points off..if we manage to pull a win, it would be so awesome
But Wenger Knows..
Eboue should never play on the left again after Wigan last season.
