A Whole Lot of Nothing Going On - Better Get Used To It!

Wednesday, 13 May 09, 01:13 AM

Morning all, here's your news that I promised you yesterday...(if you can call it news).

As if in response to my blog yesterday, Kolo has responded to my declaration of love, explaining that he just didn't feel loved enough and that's why he considered his future. WTF Who didn't love him? The fans always have, and the manager played him even when he could have rightly dropped him.  Did we not send enough flowers when he malaria? What's going on?  If I 'felt the love' coming from my boss, I'd be seriously concerned - there's laws against that sort of thing for a reason you know!

Elsewhere, the man who hasn't yet committed his future to Arsenal, is telling Arsenal not to let anyone go.  Set the standard VP, sign your deal if you want others to stay. Simples.  The language he uses is promising though, talking about 'we' and 'next season,' hardly the language of a man who is on his way out the door.  Stranger things have happened, but I reckon he'll stay.

A lot is being made of Arshavin's comments regarding his role on the left. I think there is more than a little mischief-making going on out there in the media (shocker).  When I first read it (I know I have a tendency to read what I want to see rather than what is actually there) I thought he was talking of the surprise he had at his own ability to play left-wing.  Everyone else seems to think he is moaning about playing there.  What do you think? I'd be interested to hear the actual interview because if he was picked up wrong and said:

“I still can’t get used to the idea that I am capable of playing there and I'm baffled I can do it".

Instead of what the Sun printed which was:

“I still can’t get used to the idea that I am capable of playing there and, frankly, having to do it keeps me baffled."

Do you seriously think Arshavin said frankly?

This article has now morphed into 'Arshavin unhappy at Arsenal and considering his future.'  Watch the smile on his face on Saturday and then tell me how unhappy he is. Load of bollocks if you ask me.

The madness that is the summer transfer window is well underway and I, for on, am looking forward to it.   We know we're going to buy, and it's going to be mental, but there's no reason we can't have a bit of fun with all the names who are linked with us compared to the nobody's Wenger is bound to sign (think Sagna before you slag that tactic).  If we signed Tevez I think I might wet myself.  Admit it, you know you would too! £20 million for Bolton's Cahill? Told you it was mental.

Inter and the not-so-special one want Cesc. They'll even give us £40million for him.  What part of 'I'm happy at Arsenal' does the Portuguese Prick not understand?

Meanwhile, this blog suggests five players we should buy, and I agree with four of them.  I'd forget about Upson, there's better to be had out there. A shopping list that Wenger should definitely consult.

But before we can get into that too deeply we have to remember that we have Man U at Old Trafford on Saturday.  We might not have anything to play for, but they sure as hell do.  Win against Wigan tonight and Manure will only need a point against us to win the league.  Who here wants to be on the pitch when that happens?  Maybe it would be a good thing, show the Arsenal players what they could get if they sorted out their attitude?

Anyway, we have to focus unless we want a proper spanking.  Though it would just be like us to go up there and get a result as all the fans are expecting a hefty battering.  Who didn't think against both Man U (champions league) and Chelsea (league and cup) that we were going to get something out of the matches?  Most of us did on some level, but earlier in the season when we first played them, we feel as we do now - that there is no hope. One last twist to close the freak season that has been 08/09?

I can but dream eh?

Dear God, What Next?

Wednesday, 01 April 09, 12:39 AM

So, after wanting to settle a matter externally, Hull have submitted their (no doubt) sexed-up dossier to the FA.  They actually said that they had to because the FA was involved and they couldn't say no to the FA.  They seem to have forgotten that the FA is only involved because they contacted them.

At every turn Hull and Phil Brown have shown themselves to be liars of the highest calibre.  Arsene Wenger never shakes Phil Brown's hand...urm, yes he does - photographic evidence.  Cesc spat and only Phil Brown saw it (but now you've added to that list) - audio evidence.  Cesc has spat at someone before, urm, no he hasn't, statements from Ballack and Bayern to back this so that counts as evidence.  Cesc spat at Brian Horton?  Not a drip of evidence.  Not a leg to stand on.  Yet miraculously, others from Hull have now stated they seen the 'incident' and have even been included in the report to the FA.  It's beyond a joke.

They have dug themselves into a hole so deep that the only way for them to get out of it  is to hope that the FA can come to a 'not proven' verdict.  They can't possibly find Cesc guilty, and they won't act against Hull for bringing the game in to disrepute by lying about a fellow professional (though I'd wager that Cesc has more professionalism in his magic little toes that the whole of Hull combined).  As I've said, it irks me,it irks the shit right out of me.  Does anyone know how long these things take with the FA, when we can expect a verdict?

While we're on the subject of people who are complete twats, Cesc has revealed how Real contacted him directly.  But they're Spanish, they're allowed to do that sort of thing.  In fact, I believe Blatter even dials the number while Platini holds the receiver.

Cesc is going nowhere. How many more times does he have to say it?  How much clearer does he have to be?

To be honest, it it wasn't for Spitgate, we wouldn't have a whole lot other than injuries to talk about.  VP has picked up a groin injury - shocker!  Didn't see that one coming, it's not like he's made of fibreglass or anything. And even though the club have stood by him throughout his injury-plagued career at Arsenal, he is the one demanding assurances - again. He'll sign an extension, I'm pretty sure of that.  He just needs to shut up.  Seriously, moaning that you've only won the FA Cup in the last four years, when you have hardly played for three of them does not endear you to fans.  As much as I love him, he needs to wind his ego in a bit and look at the bigger picture.

Yes I'm grumpy, did you notice?  I think I need fed, or coffee, or a slap. Something.

As if the above wasn't enough for us to worry about, Diaby has picked up a hip-injury.  I shit you not.  Did Wenger make a deal with the devil in our Invincible season and now he's collecting?  Adebayor back, Theo, Bendter and VP out.  Cesc back, Diaby out.  Eduardo back, Eduardo out. Come on to fuck, this has been going on all season and I'm fed up with it.

But what can you do?  Wrap them in cotton wool?  Well, yes, if that's what it takes.  I told you the footballing gods wouldn't allow us to have a fully-fit squad.

And all this is before the next round of International matches tonight.  I fucking hate International weeks.

So, if you're feeling as crap as I am, have a read of this then watch it here.

Til tomorrow, when we find out the extent of the damage from tonight's matches.  Time to say your prayers, rub your lucky whatevers, and kiss a few nuns folks.  So an ordinary day then!

Shove it up your Hull

Tuesday, 31 March 09, 12:33 AM

I hope you're all doing well this fine Tuesday morning.

I've had three cups of coffee and I'm raring to go...unlike Bendtner who is back at Arsenal for treatment after wrecking his knee for Denmark. He's a doubt for Saturday so that's the one down to compensate for the return of Adebayor, how many more to follow?  With Cesc due to play against Man City, you have to reckon that someone else will pick up a knock.  That's how it works right?  That's how it's worked all season so far anyway.

We'll know in 48 hours and then it's full-steam ahead into pre-match mode.  There's very little on Bendtner out there, which reflects one of two things: 1. The injury is not that serious, or 2. The media really don't give a toss about Bendter and would rather spend thousands of pounds inking up pages of crap about Cesc....but it isn't looking very good.

Speaking of which, Spitgate has taken another turn with Hull saying they'd welcome 'an amicable end' to the whole affair.  If that's the case just shut the fuck up and carry on with your business of getting relegated.

The fact that Hull have come out and said they would rather reach an agreement with Arsenal smacks of them having zero evidence to back up their claims.  If one of their players had spat at Pat Rice would we be happy for them simply to say 'sorry'?

And what happens if they withdraw their complaint?  What happens regarding the slur on Cesc's character?  Isn't that libel or something? I'm pretty sure it is, and you can bet all the saliva you can muster that had it been the other way round Brown would be screaming from the top of BBC Broadcasting House that something should be done. Get up there Wenger and let them have it.  Hehe, the image of it makes me laugh.

It's amazing now, how after Phil Brown himself said no-one else saw the incident, all of a sudden (well, after five days) all of their players and coaching staff saw the incident as well.  Fuck off Phil Brown and Hull.  You've managed to wreck all the good will afforded you by playing so well in the Premier League since your promotion and now we can't wait to see you sent back to where you belong.  It wouldn't surprise me if Brown spat at Horton himself just to get a headline or three.

Shevchenko has said that he thinks Arshavin has made the right move in joining Arsenal.  While we all know this to be true, Shevchenko is hardly the authority on good moves within the Premiership, while being the master of stating the obvious.

I'm not going to comment on the stupidity of Pires statement that Arsenal need to go English if we want success.  But somebody else has here.  He's still a legend.

Although I won't truly believe it til I see him on the pitch, Rosicky is due to make his comeback in the reserves next week.  Fingers crossed he makes it that far, but, as we seen with Eduardo, loads of niggles await him on his road to full recovery.  Let him take it easy and then make up for it next year.  Does this also mean another one of our players will have to get injured?  We can't possibly have an almost fully fit squad, the footballing gods just won't allow it.  And it wouldn't be fair on the other clubs, so I'm sure if that is the case Blatter will step in and nobble a few himself.

At boardroom level, Danny Fizman sold some shares, Stan Kronke bought them (£42,500,000 worth/5,000 shares).  The club and everybody involved say it'll have no impact on Arsenal.  Time will tell, but better they go into Stan's pocket than that fat, hideous 'thing' from Uzbekistan if they have to go anywhere.

Where Lady Nina's will go nobody knows.  The highest bidder probably.   1 share = £8,500. Bloody hell. I want some!  Even just one would make me happy.  Not for the money you understand, but to be able to say I have a share in Arsenal.  My Man U supporting mate has one (or a couple, I wasn't listening) in Man U, but then I wouldn't take those if you gave them to me dipped in honey.  Unless they came with the power to send the club into melt-down for a giggle.

Anyways, back to the football, and if we avoid defeat on Saturday that will take us to 17 unbeaten.  Are we witnessing the start of the 'New Invincibles'?

I was surprised to read this article about Adebayor.  I was convinced he was a no-brainer to leave in the Summer.  Maybe he sees what Wenger and only the most optimistic fan sees at the minute, which is the total and complete domination of England and Europe. He could still go, and would be my favourite to leave out of all the big players that generate the headlines.

It's been a strange, freak of a season, and I still say there is a monster of a surprise to come.  Let's hope it's this one.

Til tomorrow.... and don't forget to fly your flag for the Arsenal!

(all Arsenal fans thoughts. I'm sure, go out to the friends and families of those affected by the tragic events at the Ivory Coast's match. We can only imagine what you must be going through, and I don't really know what else to say.)

Miserable Monday

Monday, 30 March 09, 01:00 AM

To be honest, there very nearly wasn't a blog today, I just couldn't be arsed looking for more unsubstantiated rumours to compile and comment on.  Then I felt lazy so I decided to throw something together.  This is the result of that something.

Cesc has moved, yet again, to squash rumours about him leaving.  Needless to say, all the papers and websites have just picked out the words they wanted to hear and they are conducting, what Arseblogger rightly pointed out, something that might soon amount to a witch-hunt.  Why the hell would the papers want to drive one of the best players in the league out of the country?  Who the hell knows.  But with how they've treated Spitgate, castigating Cesc and ignoring the fact that Phil Brown is a proven lying bastard, they have managed to change 'If Arsene wants me to stay then I'll stay' into 'I'm off in the summer.' Professional journalism at its finest ladies and gentlemen.

It irks me, and we all know a good irking does not make a good day.  Perhaps it's just the effect of the Interlull.  It's like being lost in a desert, delirium-inducing.

Ho-hum.

Elsewhere, the rumour that we are after Lescott is gathering momentum.  While I've no doubt he's a good player, I do think his goals record makes him seem like a better player than he is.  I'd say Arsene knows and leave this one to him, but then you would just say 'Senderos' or ''Cygan' or 'Sylvestre' or 'Luzhny' and I wouldn't have a leg to stand on.  Kinda how those centre backs played if you remember.  I know its painful.

Mark Randall wants a loan move as he doesn't fancy playing another year in the reserves.  As much promise as he has shown thus far (did I just say thus?) he hasn't got what it takes to make it in our first team yet.  Not by any stretch of the imagination.  Let him go on loan and see what happens.  Will he make the grade?  I don't think he will if I'm perfectly honest.

That's your lot for today, and if you think I'm struggling, spare a thought for the official Arsenal site who have had to resort to showing Wiltord's top ten goals.

Six days til football, two until we know if half our squad has been crocked playing for their country.

Can you contain your excitement?

The calm before the Fulham storm

Friday, 27 February 09, 01:00 AM

This is gonna be a shortish one....

Kalou wants to come to Arsenal and I don't know how I feel about that.  I'm pretty sure we'll lose Adebayor in the summer, he shows as much desire to play for Arsenal these days as I would if I were picked for Sp*rs.  Barcelona are sniffing around VP, though I don't think he'll be going anywhere.

I hope someone points out that Arsenal have been very patient since VP joined us and that that patience should be paid back with at least a few fit season at the club.  Even if he signs a one-year contract extension and then sees how next year goes I think I'd be happy.  Running the risk of him leaving for a free next summer would just be stupid, so if he won't sign we should take the money.

I would hate to see him go, and would feel slightly let-down by him if he does, but a player gets what a player wants, so Wenger will have to persuade him to stay at the club who have supported him through injury after injury after injury, all the while paying him a handsome sum in return for the privilege of providing state-of-the-art medical treatment for him.  Yes, he's been outstanding for most of this season, but it's not like we've got this sort of playing time out of him before. He owes Arsenal.

I'm not a huge fan of Kalou, but he looks like a Wenger player.  He's awesome on my Football Manager, so maybe some people know something I don't.  Probably a lot of people.  Anyway, I'm sure it will be a story which will develop painfully slow with no end result.

Meanwhile, Fabregas says we should focus on fourth, not the title which is nice to hear.  Reality does exist in places inside the Emirates.

Alumunia must be getting some stick after this photo was published in all the papers:

 almunia walking pink dog

You can't see his other half, who's there but has been cut out so he looks even more ridiculous.  Maybe Arsenal are secret sponsors of  a breast cancer charity, what with the not-so-great-danes pink boots...who knows. He looks like he's skipping down the road. Happy, happy, happy LMAO.

Financially, we made money last year, more than we made in the previous period (£24+M pre-tax), which is some going in this current financial climate.  It will be interesting to see this time next year though, especially with the 'sunshine' supporters leaving in their droves.  I, on the other hand, must be a masochist, as I got tickets for the Blackburn match.  With flights at £20 return how could I not?

Kolo loves Arsenal, which is pretty good, cause most of us love Kolo.  And he runs funny which makes me laugh.

It's Fulham tomorrow, and I think this will be a stronger test for us than Roma.  Bet you never thought you'd see the day you'd be more afraid of playing Fulham than Roma. That's pretty screwed up but totally reflective of our season.  Three points, as it has been for most of this season, is an absolute must or it really is goodbye champions league, hello UEFA cup. Urrgh, I feel dirty just thinking we could be in there with the Spuds.

Better Fulham preview tomorrow...

I'm asbolutely knackered...can you tell? LMAO
