Monday, 19 January 09, 03:44 PM

The LA Sol picked 10 players on Friday's WPS draft on Friday at the NSCAA convention in St. Louis.

The first round pick for the Sol, and 5th overall, was  Brittany Bock (Notre Dame). Capable of playing midfield or forward, Bock has great dribbling and passing skills, a killer shot off either foot, great ability in the air, and a 5-foot-9 frame which makes her a target forward, and a great addition to the Sol's attack. She has extensive youth national team experience, playing for the U-16, U-17, U-19, and U-20  team that won the inagural FIFA U-20 World Cup Qualifying tournament, and is currently a member of the U-23's.

In the second round, Allison Falk was the 10th overall pick by Sol head coach Abner Rogers. She was a defender at Stanford, where she starred at center back her senior year, and scored 7 goals with 4 assist in her college career.

The third round pick and 19th overall was Katie Larkin. A BYU midfielder, Larkin was a MAC Hermann Trophy cadidate in 2008, and Mountain West Conference's Offensive Player of the Year.

In the fourth round, the Sol selected defender Greer Barnes (24th overall). Barnes was a two-time All-Big East first team selection with the West Virginia Mountaineers. She also played in the W-League on 2007 and 2008.

The fifth round, 33rd overall pick was Valerie Henderson, former UCLA goalkeeper and all-time leader in victories for the Bruins. She was also a member of the U-20 Women's National team that played in 2006 FIFA World championships for that age group.

In round six, LA took Katie Hooker (38th overall), a midfielder at the University of Denver. In round seven, UCLA midfielder McCall Zerboni was the 47th overall pick of the day. The 52nd pick went to University of San Diego goalkeeper Brittany Cameron in the eight round. Former Cal State Fullerton defender Erika Janke was chosen 61st overall in the ninth round, and midfielder Lisa Sari was the 66th overall pick in the tenth and last round.

The Los Angeles Sol will kick off WPS action against the Washington Freedom on March 29 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA at 3 p.m. PT. The match will be the only one played that weekend and therefore will be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel.
