Yesterday, during Marta's first official media presentation at the Home Depot Center, the first very interesting thing was the presence of a lot of journalists. Not only the traditional LA Times, Univision but also NY Times and media representatives from Europe, Brazil, Japan and this humble blogger of yours here.
The second very cool thing was to see how Kobe Bryant was really enjoying himself as the MC who called Marta on stage. It's fact that the traditional American media tends to have a very negative look when it comes to soccer - specially if it's women's soccer - but the presence of the NBA MVP, best player of this generation of the Los Angeles Lakers, proved that there are soccer fans in this country.
Watch Kobe Introducing Marta to the Los Angeles media:
Fans that also enjoy other sports but know how to admire good soccer when they watch an amazing player such as Marta and Kobe is a true fan of the 3-time best female soccer player in the world. Oh, and being surrounded by beautiful athletic women does not hurt any guy, right?
After the formal presentation and photos (oh, how I'd love to be in Kobe's shoes for that picture... hahaha.. sorry, I had to say it), we all moved to the pitch to watch the girls play some soccer with the basketball giant.
They passed the ball around and then decided to take some penalty shots. Marta missed hers with Kobe as a keeper but when he took the spot he showed that he's really been watching some good soccer at home.
Watch Kobe and Marta taking penalty shots at each other:
Thanks.
