A New Season.....Same Old Orient

Monday, 25 August 08, 06:12 AM

With just three league games played, the skeptics are out in force around the streets of E10, already predicting  season of struggle, hardship and a sense of impending doom.  The mediocrity of Orient's performances at Ipswich and Peterborough gave those already fearing a relegation scrap, yet more hard evidence after last year's dismal end of season form.

There is little doubt that Martin Ling will have his hands full this season after his failure to strengthen the squad during the summer. The acquisitions of Ryan Jarvis and Danny Granville have yet to win over the majority of those hardnosed Orient fans, while Ling's decision to keep faith with Stephen Purches as skipper is nothing short of bewildering.

In fact, if you look across the team as a whole, there is little to get excited about with the exception of the precocious talent of Jason Demetriou and the class of Tamika Mkandawire at the back.  Sean Thornton looks set to leave the club, Paul Terry and Adam Chambers cannot play in the same midfield and the lack of width in the side is frightening.

But while you all panic and look downcast, there is at least one piece of good news with the announcement that a new website has been launched to give all O's fans the chance to vent their fury through this new weird and wonderful website.

Leyton Orient Nil will be bringing you all the latest from Brisbane Road, the home of football and the pride of east London.

We'll have previews, reports, interviews, fans pieces and lots more on the way as this new venture gets started.

So make sure you add Leyton Orient Nil to your favourites and stay tuned!
