Fantasy v Reality

Wednesday, 11 July 07, 09:30 PM

Fantasy: Mexico is on par with the big S. American teams. Reality: Mexico has no technique and is a one man show called Nery. It's the 30th min second half and I have seen a Mexican team with no organization, and very little impact. Los Albiceleste ran a clinic today, and the most Mexico can take from it is a lesson on how good futbol Rio platense futbol is played. Maybe this will come in handy against Uruguay, that is for a different day. But today Mexico failed to live up to the hype it wasn't even a competition it was a flat out ass whooping. Messi was brilliant and at times he made the Mexican defenders look silly. Mexico had some chances mainly from Nery, The Uruguayan trained Mexican national with deep Uruguayan ties(blood and soccer), came close but could not quite sneek the ball under the cross bar.  Gardado had two clear chances but (gasp) he missed. Mexico failed to take any form, they seemed more like chase the man with the ball team, than a real futbol squad. Despite a ref with some obvious bias,( ridiculous messi yellow card, suspect fouls called) the Mexican's were downed. Fantasy my friends has turned into an ugly reality for the Mexican squad.  Opinions unsupported by facts have been a staple of blog chatter. "This team is good just cuz I say" is b.s., and the rise of Mexican soccer in Latin America is too. So let it be settled Mexico is no where near par with the South American giants. Maybe next time TRi. Now it's a spot for third, Uruguay will have a tough time a against a seething Mexican team coming off this loss. But los Charruas also have something to prove, should be a good game.

P.S. Unvision coverage is super biased and should be renamed mexico tv. Terrible announcing.

Albi Versus Tri, Who could it be?

Wednesday, 11 July 07, 06:01 PM

Messi y Tevez will be the difference. Tevez has been solid for Argentina and Messi is always a major threat with his electric play. He may be the best midfielder in the game. If he doesn't put away for the Argentines then his pass to Tevez for the goal will. On the Mexican side of things, el Tri has every opportunity to battle for redemtion from the world cup with brilliant play from Castillo if he can over come injury. The Mexican's  swarming, suffocating defensive play could hamper and Argentine side that has sometime's had trouble firing up the scoring machine. If Mexico can establish a dominant strong face against los Albi, early in the match they could very well win this game. I will have to say that my pick is Argentina, with goals from Messi and Tevez. With a possible goal coming from Blanco. Good luck to both.
