Looks like Spurs have been knocked back in their first official bid for Bentley with Blackburn turning down an offer of around £9m! Despite widespread belief that Ramos and Spurs had seen Bentley agree personal terms and pass a medical towards the end of june it appears that our first bid is seen as somewhat lightyears short of what Rovers want for Bentley. Bentley wants european football and a move back to london, Villa can offer the INTERTOTO cup but Brum is somewhat short of London town! Besides there is no guarantee that Villa will qualify from the intertoto anyways.
I expect the deal to go through in the coming weeks at around the £15/17m mark and maybe Robbo moving to Rovers to replace the departing Friedel who fancies the move to Brum.
Sir Alex Ferguson is obviously so annoyed that Madrid "tapped up" his boy Ronaldo that he would never dream of doing it to another club. Oh hang on, HE HAS!! Yesterday he announced that he had bid for a big name player who would improve his squad, then last night like a child who couldn't keep a secret blurted out that the player in question was our very own incredibale sulk, Dimitar Berbatov! Thanks fergie glad to see that you really believe in what you preach!! Personally i'm not too bothered about Berba leaving for a number of reasons. He has been linked with a move away from us since the ending of his first season, his agent Emil Dantchev has pimped his man around every club in europe over the last 2 years and constantly wasting column inches with his "dimitar wants to play in the champs league" rubbish and i for one will be pleased to have heard the last from him especially. That said Berba has been a true legend in his 2 seasons. Not since Klinsmann have spurs had a striker of his calibre, some of the goals and some of the things i've seen berba do will stay with me forever, i applaud him for those 2 years and through gritted teeth say good luck to him. Lets face it Man Utd are not rivals for us, Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton will be our biggest rivals this year in the quest for top 4 finish! I hope that Barca firm up their interest in Berbatov and enable us to sell him to the Blaugrana and in the process show fergie that we can play games with transfers too!!
Robbie why??? you told us you loved it in the white half of north london, that you were happy and settled at Spurs. And now... well now it appears that you want to move to liverpool, a team that Benitez tinkers with constantly, a place where you will probably find yourself played out on the wing and second fiddle to el nino Torres. If you stay at Spurs you will become a legend, a hero for all hotspurs. Robbie's loss will be a very bitter pill to swallow as i genuinely thought he was on the way to becoming a Mr Tottenham of sorts. Still Roy Keane had it right when he sad today, there's no loyalty in football nowadays. If Keano goes he will be sorely missed but its his loss as i'm sure that we are on our way to overtaking Liverpool and Arsenal in the league and Ramos is the man to accomplish this. Watch this space!!
Arshavin intruiges me. He has turned down arsenal according to the telegraph int he hope that he can move to Barca but it now appears that Spurs have held meetings with his representatives with the view to him joining the Ramos revolution. I hope this isn't true for a multitude of reasons, he is 28 (no spring chicken, he has only been on the radar for around 12months and whilst he was impressive in the games against Greece and Holland in the euro's when he came up against an organised team in Spain they marked him out of the game and he looked ordinary, pedestrian. One has to wonder how he would cope in the premier league, a league where time and space is at a premium and he will have to adapt fast. Are we willing to take a 20m euro's risk on a player who may struggle to adapt?? It would be interesting to see him line up to Modric in a 5 man midfield but it appears by watching him in last seasons uefa cup and euro's that Mr Arshavin does not like covering back. A risk too big for us to take in my opinion.
News that Roy Keane is wanting to import half the Spurs squad to Sunderland. by bidding for Tainio, Steed, Kaboul and Chimbonda. It appears however that Younes "i think i'm better than i am" Kaboul has told his gaent that he would not move to sunderland in a million years. I would hate to lose Steed as i think he would be a great squad player to have especially now we have 7subs to play with on PL matchdays. Tainio is 29 and injury prone and i'll not really miss him, Chimbo is surplus to requirements at WHL now Super Alan Hutton has got the RB slot so i will not be sad to see his kamikaze stlye defending find a home at the stadium of shite next year.
Let me know your thoughts on the above subjects, I have not insider knowledge but like the title of the blog says, its an honest opinion of a tottenham fan. We are all entitled to our own opinions!!

For my second blog entrance I'm going to see if we can make sense of Spurs' midfield transfer dealings this summer.
In my opinion, the addition of Bentley (surely he must be coming soon) and Capel (a strong possibility) to accompany the signing of J2S would be great signings and would give us the kind of skill, invention and trickery that we have been missing since Ginola left us all thos years ago.
Bentley is an exceptional player who has got experience in a variety of situations - at Norwich he battled the drop, at Blackburn he played in the UEFA cup, he has caps for England and is seen by many as the successor to Beckham on the right side of the England midfield. Bentley can put great crosses in and will offer us an increased goal threat from wide areas, a thing we have lacked for too long to remember. With a change of system mooted at Spurs this year he could well find himself on the right of a front 3 which i'm sure will give him more chances to score and young Mr Bentley has an eye for goal.
Dos Santos is widely regarded to be the best Mexican player in years. He starred at the world youth championship around 2years ago and had many Brazilians cursing his choice to play for Mexico over Brazil. At Barcelon he has played in one of the best leagues in the world and has champs league experience and all at the age of 19. He has pace to burn and trickery to go with it. Anyone who saw the hat-trick he bagged in his last game for Barca will know he can score goals too (good goals at that).
Capel is probably a lesser known quantity to many spurs fans but from watching him play for Sevlle I can tell you he is a waspish character, short, stocky and pacey with a great left foot. He can cut inside or go on the outside to beat his man and is a ver tricky winger. Sounds like Aaron Lennon??? Wwell yes slightly but from what I've seen Capel has a far better end product than our own little Prince lookalike.
Bentley will be joined in the battle for RW by a somewhat energised Lennon (if you've read the quotes AL has made). J2S seems to be playing wide left in the pre-season games, so if Capel came in it would be J2S & Capel fighting over the LW position. This is a great set of options for Ramos to have and one we at Spurs have not seen for many a moon.
With Modric sure to be the clever, crafty attacking midfielder we have been crying out for our strikers will have a raft of chances sure to come their way.
Berba looks to be leaving and my personal choice to replace him would be Roque Santa Cruz. RSC has proved last seaon that he can score goals at this level and with wingers of the calibre we are looking to bring in providing him with chances then i'm sure he would up last seasons total. I would liek to see Bent retained and given a chance at the lone striker role and I'm sure that RSC and Bent could fight it out for that position.
Keano i feel could operate as a deep lying forward / attacking midfielder. Taking hsi place next to Modric in a midefield 5. The 5 is not yet certain as I think we need a top CDM to add steel to our class in midfield. Huddlestone would be good for this job but I feel that we need a more experieinced head in there. Albelda, a player we have been linked to in the past would be great for this role and at £3m would be a good price for the grit and knowledge he would bring.
Our 5 in midfield and lone striker could be:
Albelda
Bentley Keano Modric J2S
Bent / RSC
Jenas, Malbranque and Hudd would be great backup for this system and could all fill different roles in that 5.
What do you guys think? I would very much like to know what you guys think will be our midfield for this coming season and who will be our new ST (providing Berba leaves).
I will be running the rule over our defence in my next blog!

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the whole concept of blogging but those of you who know me from Harry Hotspurs fantastic blog will know that i'm a huge Spurs fan and have followed them from the moment i was born (coming from a huge Tottenham supporting family)
Most of my posts in recent times have regarded the rumours and speculation surrounding transfers, whose coming in / whose getting tossed aside like the gerkin in your big mac (apologies gerkin lovers)
My view is that the player being linked with moves away and even some of the players who have had their feet placed comfortably under the tottenham table for a few years now have not done the business and should be shown the door........
The Bentley saga is very much a topic/rumour that comes true. I feel that a player like Aaron Lennon has not been doing the business for a long time now, he has stagnated after a few niggling injuries and the very fact that he ahs been at spurs for 3-4 years now and he still cant cross a ball worries me immensely....
I PUT IT TO YOU FRIENDS...........
IF a good offer comes for our very own little prince lookalike should we sell him?? OR should we give him one more chance??
I would like to sign Bentley and perhaps keep Azza as back-up RW cover. However I feel that if he doesn't learn how to cross a ball in the near future then he should be shown the door.
On Bentley bid rejected, Berba to Barca, Why Robbie?? Arshavin and Keano's bulk buy!
