It seems that Leo Beenhakker has really good influence on Polish players. Their performance during the sparring match with Finland was amazingly good and we could see some "fresh blood" in Polish lineup.
At the beginning of the match we could see some nerves and misunderstandings in Polish defence lines (it wasn't surprising - the goalkeeper, Sebastian Przyrowski, and four defence players altogether played 18 matches in national team so far). But after two wasted Finnish score opportunities, Polish goal was safe and sound for the rest of the match.
Adam Kokoszka, defender, was Polish captain in this match, although his first match in the national team was just one year ago and he doesn't play in his club team. In this sparring match he could prove that he is worthy wearing the captain's badge - he scored the only goal in this match (in 42. minute), and in the second half he could raise the score, but on of the...

In the newest FIFA ranking Poland has been placed on 23rd position. Polish team is one position lower than in previous ranking.
The number one of this first ranking of the year 2008 is Argentina, followed by Brazil, current world champions - Italy and Spain. There were no changes on these top places in the ranking.
From Polish rivals in UEFA EURO Cup 2008 ranked the highest is Germany - 5th position. Croatia is 10th and Austria - 90th.
Czech Republic is the strongest Polish rival in upcoming qualifications for World Cup 2010 - it is 6th. Northern Ireland is 32th, Slovakia - 54th, Slovenia - 81st and San Marino - 197th
The next FIFA ranking is going to be announced on 13th February 2008.

After 3 hours of negotiations, the football federations of the countries playing in group 3 of World Cup 2010 Qualifications have managed to agree upon the games schedule.
- We had the agreement after 40 minutes. Yesterday evening we created the coalition with Czechs and that's why we agreed about our matches very quickly. I'm glad, because we have fulfilled our plan in 100%. - said right after the end of the meeting the President of Polish Football Association, Michał Listkiewicz.
The white-and-red are going to play four matches this autumn. The qualifications will begin with a match Poland - Slovenia. In October, Leo Beenhakker's team will play at home with Czech Republic and the re-match has been planned for October 2009. The qualifications will end with Poland - Slovakia match.
