This Is Not The Liverpool We Know

Liverpool’s woes seem to be getting worse with every game they play. Last night’s Champions league match against Fiorentina only compounded Rafael Benitez’s problems.

Liverpool lost 2-1 at home to a Fiorentina side that has really impressed this season. The Merseyside outfit who were already bundled out of the lucrative tournament, will now play in the Europa league.

Liverpool have not won the Premiership trophy in almost two decades. That to me is a pretty long time! There was some hope that perhaps when Rafa Benitez took over, their long trophy drought would be over. To everyone’s amazement, he delivered even more than was expected of him. Read more... World Player Shortlists Revealed

On Monday FIFA revealed the final list of 5 players for both the men and women nominees who will battle it out for the coveted FIFA world player of the year award.

In the men’s list the nominees are Andreas Iniesta, Kaka, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Xavi while the women’s list has Cristiane (Brazil), Inka Grings (Germany), Brigit Prinz (Germany), Kelly Smith (England) and Marta (Brazil)

Lionel Messi will be looking to end the year on a high by wining this award. Clinching the European player of the year award, was a huge moment for this young sensational forward. December 21st will yet again be aonther day when the whole football world eagerly awaits to see who will be crowned the best player of the year 2009. Read more... All Portsmouth wants for X-mas is a briefcase full of money and no questions asked. It is just like all the Coen brothers movies (Fargo, No Country for Old Men, the Big Lebowski) where a person desperate for money discovers a bag full of stacked one hundred dollar bills in a place nobody would expect. Group B contains Argentina, Nigeria, Greece and South Korea, in what could be a mini group of death. Argentina were poor in qualifying, and Greece and South Korea are always hard to break down. At the moment I see Argentina and Nigeria moving onto the knockout rounds.
