Five Top Bosman Transfers

Monday, 05 January 09, 02:02 PM · Comments(2)

With the current credit crunch, some teams will be looking to pick up some bargains in the January transfer window open, and their is nothing cheaper than a player out of contract. This is an unusual year in that there are several top players in the Premier League and in Europe whose out of contract at the end of the season. That list includes Mark Viduka, Henrik Larsson, Jermaine Pennant, Leroy Lita and Maniche. But the five most attractive Bosman transfers are below. 5: Carlos Kameni African keepers are often portrayed as gaffe-prone clowns. But Cameroon ace Kameni has bucked the trend thanks to his impressive form since joining Spanish club Espanyol in 2004. He turns 25 next month, making him a young star in the world of No1s. 4: Emile Heskey Who would have guessed that when Heskey left Liverpool in 2004, the same club would want to sign him five years later. The striker has enjoyed resurgence at Wigan, culminating in a surprise England recall. Heskey turns 31 next week but that won’t stop a number of big sides fighting for him. 3: Mark van Bommel The Dutch midfielder is upset with his contract offer at Bayern Munich and is set for the exit door. Tottenham came close to signing him three years ago before he eventually joined Barcelona but the chance of Premier League may resurface. Van Bommel is only 32 in April, so still has plenty to offer. 2: Daniel Sturridge How did Manchester City let their young hotshot’s contract run down? Sturridge will be offered a big new deal but with competition already tough and new faces set to arrive, he may fancy his chances elsewhere. City face a nervy few weeks as the striker makes up his mind. 1: Michael Owen Injuries have hampered Owen’s recent years but at 29, it is wrong to dismiss him. Newcastle’s woes have also played a part in his decline and a big move would surely reinvigorate the striker if he can stay fit. Who wouldn’t want a player who has averaged a goal every other game in their career?

Steven Appiah is currently a free agent, he's a bargain too.

Good point Zidave. I see that Appiah is training with Spurs this week
