Andrei Arshavin To Real Madrid on Loan?

Wednesday, 12 November 08, 11:52 AM · Comments (28)

Arshavin

AS reveals that Andrei Arshavin could possibly move to Real Madrid in January on a six-month loan deal if his club, Zenit St Petersburg, agrees to negotiate and put him down at a reasonable price.

"How could I not want to go to Real Madrid, it's a great team, one of the best," Arshavin told the AS sports newspaper published on Wednesday.

"The only thing that I have said is that I want to leave Zenit next year at all costs" and "I think by the start of 2009 I will definitely be with another team.

"I have not come out in favor of another club. The most important thing now is not whether Real Madrid wants me or not, but rather if Zenit will let me leave,"

Real Madrid along with Barcelona and Tottenham tried to sign the striker last summer but Zenit's asking price was ridiculously high.

It would be really strange that someone would pay 25 million euros ($31 million) for me. The main thing is to put me down at a reasonable price," Arshavin continued.

Indeed as the player said himself, if he wants to leave, his club then needs to put him down at a reasonable price. To me, 25 million euros looks like a lot of money. I wouldn't pay more than 15 or 18 million euros.

However, Real Madrid plan is to play him for six months and see if he'd add anything to the team or not. If he does, then they'll have the option and priority to buy him,

While he is probably one of the finest strikers in Europe, I still wonder if he is the Real Madrid type and whether he'd fit well into the team and adapt to the Spanish lifestyle.

Well, lets see how this goes first...

Any thoughts?

Hala Madrid!

Given the past few sets of results, does the club really need to look at bringing in an inconsistent (though talented) striker? Surely there are better ways of spending money over the transfer window...

A.Arshavin is a really talented player with a scoring (instinct) but what you guys need is a key play maker because i think saviola could do better than arshavin why waste your money on something you got already .... go for defence and midfield but thats just my opinion ... goodluck folks really really want to c madrid in the champions league next year cuz this year your toast HALA MADRID

We need SOS changes, that is what we need!We need a victory against Valladolid, for Schuster,s life on the bench,we need Higuain,Pepe,Ramos to start every next game,we need Buenos, more Buenos in RealMadrid!Parejo,Brandao close to the first team! Why are our players every little time injured? Is it maybee also a question of training method?Arshavin is not a long term solution but maybee he could help if comes in winter! Some fresh blood is necessary whoever could it be

Arshavin is a good player. But there are some things that bother me. First he is quite old. Well he is not that old he is 27 or 28. if we are thinking of buying or having someone come in we should think younger 24 to 25. Second he is quite tempermental. He has had quite few bust ups in Russia. Third he wont fit into our system. We have higuain who can play as a second striker/ attacking midfielder. We also have Saviola who played this role in his days at River Plate. Van Der Vaart played the same role at Hamburg. We need a center back, a wing back, a winger, and a main striker. so we need three to four new players. Given the holes in our squad who does everyone think should come and why?

He would fit better at Barca. Thanks for the update. Maybe he should follow Roman Pavlyuchenko and go to Tottenham.

Na, for once I feel he will be a good buy for real Madrid. He is a good striker, and he is quick, has phenomenal vision, scores goals, and is a team player. Now, his age is against him but since when did Madrid start looking at long term goals? If that was so, we wouldn't panic when we lost a few games. Madridistas want everything and for that, only present planning is required, not long term planning. TO be honest, I am a huge fan of Arshavin and I was sad when I heard he would still be playing in Russia rather than some other good club in europe. Barcelona would have been the ideal place for him, but since that didn't work out, I guess the next best place would be Madrid. With him, Schuster will be able to play the 4-3-3, and what a formation that would be. (Left to right) Defense- Vaart- Gago- Sneijder-Arshavin- Raul-Higuain. Now, thats what attacking must look like!

OMG! I am seriously so sick of the friggn Arshavin talk. As long as Advocaat is manager, he will not be leaving. He valuses him too much. He even said that he would bench Andrei so he couldnt leave. Ahhhhhh! Plus, last time I knew, he said that if he did indeed go to Spain, it was to Barca.

=D Although you are a hater i was telling everyone even before the season stars that's what we really needs,, defence and midfield,, and everyone was telling me no saying Real needs strikers,, David Villa and all that crap,, tell me if David Villa comes and scores 10 goal Real is going to concede 11... What Real need is a Gatuso in the middile to win balls and tackle and stand firm between defence and a CR7 so that other teams will be afraid to come forward because of the Counter attacking speed

I think arshavin could be the solution of our problem. He play to change a game into a more beautiful one, the same with how cr7 or zidane play. The only thing that the scout have to make sure, if we really want to buy him, is that he's able to play in more competitive situation, and also that he could adapt well in spain. But, i think, why don't we just van der vaart, we only need to put him in his usual position, attacking midfield, not central or winger, and then he will perform like how he play in hamburg, he was so great that day, hala madrid!!

Nah, Arshavin is not the player we need, we need a genuine right-sided winger along with a clearout of all the shit defenders like Heinze, Salgado and Metz. Bring in players like Agger, Cheillini and bring back Garay. A striker is also a good option but I think that it's not not problem, keeping the ball is the probem, we lose it in all the wrong areas. And another thing, Canna and Metz are NOT seriously injured, Canna has a bruise on his nek while Metz has one on his knee and they should be perfectly fine at today's training session. Hala Madrid! =D

I have great news for everyone, well..except for the great part. Ruud van Nistelrooy out for 6-9 months, no report, it's offcial, as of Real Madrid's website meaning he's out for the rest of the season :\ Unless we can bring in miracles in Januaray, even the league is looking more ambitious :( Time for The Rabbit, Il Capitano and El Pipita to step up, we have to do without Robben for another month too, OH GOD, SAVE US :\ Hala Madrid!

=D My friend you are 1000% correct Van der Vaart when he was playing for Ajax and Hamburg,, he played attacking midfield,, Van der Vaart is a player who likes to roam and be free not in any one position,, if Van der Vaart is to be in any one position it would be like an second striker/ attacking midfield, and you can see it in his goal scoring record for his previous teams... Van der Vaart is not a defensive or holding midfield player...Before he came to Real i told everyone here that he would be mostly on the bench..AND SO FAR ALL MY PREDICTIONS ARE CORRECT... everything i have predicted has been correct so far... I am telling you all scoring goals is not Real problem it's keeping them out..As soon as Real figures how to keep out goals they will be the number 1 team in Europe...the problem was us the fans we wanted to see more attacking and less defending and that caused confusion in the coach mind and also unbalanced in the team we are now attacking but not defending and it is all our fault Capello he had brought the balance in the team but the fans never wanted that

I love Carlitos, but do we really need a player like him? With Ruud out for the rest of the season he may be a good alternative. I'm quite sure that he will want a move now that Man U have Berbatov. He needs to play in order to make the Argentinian National squad. He would adapt better than Arshavin being a spanish speaker and because we have Higuain, Gago and Heinze.

Schuster doesn't want Arshavin and he's right...The ideal is obviously Huntelaar or benzema...but I also think Podolski and Cruz(whose contract expires soon) are also good alternatives ;)

=D Yes Tevez would be the best buy Real could ever make for the past ten years,,,, with such lazy defence Real have Tevez with his high work rate would track back and help out,,, only thing is tevez is not that good to look at LOL..And sometimes he over does his work rate and that is exactly what Real needs

Come on guys....if we beat Valladolid...we'd have 2 points more than the amount of points we had at the same time last season! If we're going to the market to buy a defender...I hope it's Garay...and if he's brought....it's only him who's brought.Cannavaro/Pepe/Garay would make a perfect rotation in the centre =D
