Franz Beckenbauer, Bayern Munich's president, has admitted it would be hard to keep hold of some of his players if Real approached them.
He said that If Real's interest in Franck Ribery is serious then it will be very difficult for him to force the French international, whose his contract expires in 2011, to stay especially if he himself wishes to leave.
"Ribery only has two years left in his contract and If we receiver a good offer from Real Madrid or Manchester United we would then be in a weak position to negotiate, especially if Ribery wants to leave. We may still insist on a contract extension but if the offer is good enough, you never know what can happen", said the German legend
Personally, I think Ribery is the kind of player we REALLY need at the moment especially after we sold Robinho to Man City. He has the pace, skills and mentality that a player needs to have in order to lead a team like Real Madrid.
His performances with Bayern Munich have been phenomenal and honestly I was surprised when I read Beckenbauer comments because I had thought it would impossible for us to negotiate with the German giants over Ribery. However, as it seems, Calderon only needs to fax them first, get a ticket to Germany and get a deal stuck.
With Ribery on the squad, we won't have to rely only on Robben all the time which is stressful for the Dutchman.
However, there hasn't been any clear interest from Real, but you never know, while everyone was talking about Crespo and Tevez, Real were talking with Huntelaar.
According to Marca, Metzelder left training today as he suffered a mild ankle sprain. However, the paper says that the German international should be fine for the game against Sevilla.
Meanwhile, Diarra is still doubtful for the match because he hasn't fully recovered from his injury. Marca also says that he might need to be operated if his knee doesn't heal quickly.
Last but not least and as expected, Cristiano Ronaldo has won the Balon D'Or aka the European footballer of the year after beating Iker Casillas, Fernando Torres and Leo Messio to the award.
Leo Messi came second, while Casillas came fourth with just 36 points behind Torres.
We have been hoping that Casillas gets award but yes for a goalie to win such an award he needs a miracle.
Anyway, I'm gonna grab something to eat now!
Hala Madrid!

Don't judge a book by its cover
Im surprised that Ribery is thrown into the mix .. If that deal is made .. man Id love Calderon all over again
you have made a good point... Real realy need a player like Ribery, not only for his skills but also for his mentality to be a leader of the teem... I have read an article a few days ago that Ribery is the best player in the world for his statistics, better than CR7,Messi and Kaka... he has the most touches with the ball, most passes and creates him self with the most chanses during the game... the gay is dangerous throughout the entire game...
I'm suprised, Beckenbauer never discusses anything like this especially to the media. Ribery would be a good addition to the squad. I honestly don't think Ribery will come. He is idolized by Bayern fans and he is cup tied because he played in the CL. Di Maria would be a better choice based on this. Well lets see what happens we might hear of the next signing soon. Also it looks like Higuain, Fabio and Robben have rejoined the squad for training

Ribery would be a good signing! All these names coming up everyday gives me a headache. Congrats to the greatest "diver" :::cough::: footballer. He was all over the last year but next year will be Messi's....now Iker can stop worrying and start focusing on being the keeper he once was.....that IMO distracted him alot. He was our hero in Goal for like 2 years straight.
Me too,i am very surprised about what the Ceaser said, its going to be very nice if we brought Ribery,i think this guy is better than Ronaldinho,Kaka,Xavi,Fabregas in his passes (no way he's better than Zidane),he is the best playmaker in the world according to Goal.com,with him,Sneijder,Di Maria, and Robben our midfield could be the best in Europe if Guti and VDV (sucked with Real Madrid) are benched, lets hope this happen.
P.S:How old is Ribery?
