Ramon Calderon Officially Resigns

Friday, 16 January 09, 03:11 AM · Comments (27)

Calderon

UPDATE: Ramon Calderon has officially stepped down -- and vice-president, Vicente Boluda, has been chosen to be the new president until new elections take place.

Earlier today:

It was reported yesterday that Ramon Calderon would resign from his post, and vice-president, Vicente Boluda, would take over until an official election takes place. However,  just this morning, the man himself announced that he'll not quit unless the board members force him to do so.

A press conference will take place today at 10:00 CET and we'll then find out the final decision.

However......

Should Ramon stay or not?

Will his resignation effect the team?

What do you guys think?

Fingers crossed.

Hala Madrid!

I think he should stay ,, it's not that i like calderon , or i hate him , it's just that we've had enough troubles this season as it is .. i think all this has something to do with ex president florentina Perez ..

he just wont let the team on its own ,, now he's got ( real madrid's ) newspaper marca turn on calderon + ex real madrid secretary cristina is claming that calderon's taking money from the clubs finance ,, she claims this happened in gago , higuain , and van nistelrooy's singning , where calderon took more money out of the vault than the money stated in the contract ..

i dont know but i think all this is florentina's idea , he wants calderon out as soon as possible so that he can take over in 2010 , and now he's claiming , should he take over in 2010 , he'd sign kaka ..

i know that calderon messed up real bad lately , but at least he got us the 2 league titles we've been missing these couple if years , unlike florentina who didnt do nothing for several years but destroy the teams and made injustice decisions of sacking coaches like del bosque and releasing player like makelele ..

Calderon didnt win the titles it was the managers. and oddly or ironically enough, both managers are gone while he is still there.

I think he should stay because we dont want any more trouble,we've already made our comeback after El Clasico loss, but whent the coming election comes,i dont want his stinky hairy ass in the club,i prefer Florentino Perez over Calderon, there's also some rumours saying that Florentino Perez will use Kaka as a presdential tool along with Zin Eldin Zidane as a Sporting Director, cool huh? better than MijatoBITCH! =D

I totally agree with you. We don`t need more tension in the team. He will not be chosen again.

The Spanish media is reporting that new electinos will take place some time in July, after the current season ends. So we may still have some months of instability to deal with

YES. THANK YOU.

And please take Pedja with you too!

Brings me to my next point. I'm not THAT against Florentino Perez coming back because I don't think he will make the same mistakes twice. Installing Zidane as sporting director is a huge plus. If there's anyone I trust to bring Real back to the top again, it's Zidane :)

But I don't like the idea that Perez could be using the idea of Zidane as sporting director to strongarm his way back into power, and also - don't forget that Pedja Mijatovic was also our Champions League hero, once. Sure, Madridistas revere Zidane way more than Mijatovic, and I really do respect Zidane, but let's not get carried away yet... do we REALLY want Perez back just because he might bring Zidane with him?

Another thing - I do not think Calderon "brought" us the two titles. Capello, Schuster and our players did.

As for unsettling the team - I don't think so. You have to say one thing for them, they're professionals. Many have been in the team for quite a few years, and we all know that the moment a player or coach is associated with Real Madrid they come under much worse scrutiny than at any other club. They know how to deal with pressure and external unrest, let's trust them to stay together and pull through.

No other club could be in our situation and still be second/third in one of the toughest leagues in the world.

Hala Madrid!

totally agree with you phantompong it's not calderon who brought for us the titles last 2 years but it's the players and the Madridista spirit especially in the Bernabeu and I think the future will be brighter with new superstars but with new talents and not with the old Galacticos ERA we are Real Madrid and Not a museum for Superstars , btw Kaka preferred if Real Madrid would renew their interest in him that he would join us instead of manchester City and their big Deal of 271 M euro , we'll see what happens.Hala Madrid :)

I was very loath to name Schuster in the first place, so yep, I'll take that back. Just Capello and the players.

This will no doubt affect the players. There is a good arguement on both sides as to why Calderon should or should not go. It's true that we have won titles under Calderon but I think his biggest mistake was letting Capello go. He has since then been his own worst enemy and Pedja has been nailing his coffin shut by giving Schuster a vote of confidence then agreeing to sack him. Making promisses he can't keep like bringing Cesc, Kaka, Ronaldo etc. Comminting fraud in the confidence vote and signing L. Diarra and Huntelaar and not knowing the UCL registation rules (Pedja should go just for this). Then again geeting rid of him will bring turmoil and chaos to the club that is just starting to regain form. Calderon has to go not because he should but because he has too.

Calderon has made the Real Madrid presidency a political position rather than a football position we have to get back to football and not making connections in the political world. Calderon has lost all the credibility that we have built over 100 years as a club. Every player that we have gone for has turned us down because of the people in charge. Calderon and Pedja play this mind games in the press in order to sign players. This i think is Calderon's ultimate undoing. Now we must wait until Pedja is forced to resign and we get a compitent Director of Football and a President who is interested in Football rather than political prowess.

I agree with everything you say but as long as nobody touches Ramos or messes with his fine-looking work, form should not drop. Hopefully, as you said, we get a Sporting Director who is capable of working for Real Madrid. I'm fine with Balouda for now, I can hold out for the summer. Hala Madrid! =D

Ok this is just gr8...first everybody says Calderon is a disaster, everyone likes Perez and everybody wants Calderon to resign....(atleast that was the response I got when I talked in favour of Calderon)...and now that he's left everybody is saying how gr8 he was...MARK MY WORDS THAT WE ARE GOING TO MISS HIM!!!!(and Mijatovic too...whenever he leaves)
As for the Kaka thing...I personally had alot of respect for Kaka...but now I've lost most of it...seems even he only thinks about money :?

Huh? Who said he's great, i'd like to criticize him too, if he said anything negative before. As for Perez, I can't stand him and it would be a major dent is my support for that racist bitch to be elected. Calderon was good but like everyone else before him, he didn't wish to give anybody a chance. Sacked Capello for 'pretty football,' signed Schuster who wasn't ready but he finally made the right choice with Juande Ramos. As for transfers, I think aside from how he goes about bussiness and the disgrace he's brought, he's been much better in the market than Perez was. Perez wasted money on players that were fading and aside from the likes of Ronaldo, Zidane and Figo, I would term everybody a flop. Lets look at Calderon's signings. Higuain - wonderful, Gago - great, Pepe - awesome, Metz - not able to demonstrate his ability, Diarra - what we lacked, Marcelo - a wonderful prospect, Garay - you'll see the next Ramos in him, Sneijder - he's a machine, Robben - he's one in a million, Finally there's the best signing the club made in around 3 seasons, Ruud van Nistelrooy. And aside from Emerson, Heinze and maybe Drenthe, nobody really flopped. These 'second rate' signings won us two consecutive leagues and it was those ignorant fans who always wanted more that ruined the wonderful spirit of the team. Now many of you will say, there was luck involved or what not but that's just bs! Calderon should just be allowed to leave in peace, I wish him the best of luck for the future and I can only advise you people to move on too. Hala Madrid! :)

I'm certainly not saying how great he is. Not Mijatovic either.

Kaka hasn't moved yet. Milan accepted the offer from Man City, which means Man City has begun talks with Kaka but it doesn't mean he will move. Remember the Casillas "bid" - the "offer" was 150m euros, which triggered his buy-out clause (meaning the club must accept the bid). Iker wasn't and isn't going anywhere. Kaka might not either.

I have to admit I'm surprised Milan accepted the bid though.
