Cassano Called Up To Italy's Squad & Real Madrid Lower Their Price

Antonio Cassano

Antonio Cassano, our onloan striker, has been called to Italy's squad for Euro 2008. Big news, huh? Well, yeah because I've never thought that he'd play with Italy again, but it seems thought that Roberto Donadoni wants to give him a second chance. But wait, Donadoni has called up 24 players and there should be only 23 players for the tournament! Cassano could be again excluded, right?

Anyway, this isn't the the reason I'm writing this post. The reason is, that, Real Madrid have asked Sampadoria to purchase the player and they have also lowered their asking price which means they are literally begging the Italian side to buy the kid.

I've previously written about Cassano and whether we should bring him back or not but now If Sampadoria don't buy him, he'll be back unless another team steps in. Cassano has played very well this season scoring many goals and helped his side to climb up to good positions on the table, however, there have been also some "bad" attitudes which resulted in suspensions, bans and a lot of bad press.

If Real want to bring him back, then we will need to offload a striker because we have too many (right?): Rau'l, Nistelrooy, Soldado, Saviola, Higuain. I'm pretty sure neither of those (except Soldado) will be sold in the summer.

Even If he is back, he won't have a chance. He will have Rau'l, Nistelrooy and the brilliant Higuain ahead of him .... something which will make him rebel -- which means instability in the squad and tons of problems with the coach, the players and with the club.

Additionally, will he be able to stand against the big boys in the Champions League? Can he, with his style of play, help the team to win the Champions League - the most desired trophy at the Bernabeu?

The bottom line is, Cassano must not return no matter how talented he is, because in my humble opinion, and with all due respect, he is still a child.

Do you agree with me?

I fully agree Rajab! Cassano shouldn't return... he would surely break the friendship the current squad has built through this season, which will separate them and so they'll play very badly... let's hope Sampadoria purchase him as they have the chance, they need him, not us!

Hala Madrid!

Does anybody know if Real are still thinking about sining benzema or nasri. They talk about diego and huntleer but i think benzema and nasri are better if anybody knows tell me.

Lyon are asking a lot for Benzema and the player is targeted by many great European clubs so I think the there is competition. However, I hope that we get him, because he is a good player.

Cassano is a quality player with great talents, but i dont understand how a player like him can be so ignorent and self minded. he thinks that he sets out the rules. Cassano no go to real madrid

leaving Filipo out of the team amounts to a very high level of stupidity ( sorry for that word but I am angry ) on the part of Roberto Donadoni ....he is just on fair to Filipo ....sentiment apart we all know who is the better player between the 2 and I am sure Cassano does not expect to come back to Real Next season
