CL: Olympiacos 0 - Real Madrid 0 | Unlucky?

Written by Adam Bader on Wednesday, 07 November 07, 11:26 PM

 Ruud Van Nistelrooy

Real Madrid were either unlucky or dump not to beat Olympiacos last night. They had a lot of chances, and Olympiacos' defense was horrible to the extent that it gave away many spaces. Ruud Van Nistelrooy was close to score on many occasions, but luck wasn't in his side.

Bernd Schuster has certainly had a lot to say to his men after yesterday's Champions League clash. I'm sure he was very mad at them, especially at his front line who couldn't convert any chance to a goal. Real Madrid gave away a golden opportunity to qualify and forget about the other teams (Werder Bremen, Lazio and Olympiacos) which all have a good chance to be in the knock-out stages.

If Madrid won yesterday, they would concentrate more on La Liga and most importantly on the big teams they will face. But that didn't happen.

Anyway, the performance was not bad. The defense was great, especially Marcelo who proved once again that he is capable of playing in a team of the size of Real Madrid. Gago was great as well. He is improving steadily. He will benefit a lot from Diarra, I'm sure.

Now, we must concentrate on Mallorca's game ....

Hala Madrid!

The match was really interesting, but i think the coach should'nt have made that substitute ie(robinho-balboa), becouse robinho is a magical player and can change the game at any moment. And if must be removed i think Balboa must not be the subtitute becouse he has nothing to offer in such a situation. He did nothing and i hope the coach will avoid putting players like him in such a match.

We will definitely beat Mallorca because the guys have learnt their lesson, I think. Scoreline 3-1.

Oh George, you seem to be confident this time ;).
I agree with you, Saleh. Robinho shouldn't have been replaced. And if even he should be, Balboa, as you said, shouldn't be the replacement. Schuster used Balboa twice recently. He seems to be giving him a chance before letting the boy go!

Let's not blame anyone, the only reason we drew is simply that the ball was refusing to go in. Good to know that even George knows that 3 is the magic number for us. Hala madrid!!!

I may have lately come across as pessimistic but that is not fact. During the past three seasons I've been staying in a place where I was the only Madridsta among four Barcelona fans. And I've been hurt many times by the team's performance, as well the rubbing-in that inevitably followed. But I had the last laugh last season. And so with my recent communications was just being cautious.

I've had a similar experience, George. My brother is a Barcelona fan and he used to hurt me whenever Real Madrid loses. When we beat them last season (2-0) he felt what I was feeling when he hurt me.
I hope that he will never hurt me again as Real Madrid keeps being at top.

Fidelis, about the comment "even George knows that 3 is the magic number for us", was it arrogance? Who is "us"? Speak for yourself man. Not everyone is a magician. It was purely coincidental, thats all.

When he said "us" he referred to Real Madrid. Calm down, George ;)

Rajab, that post was clearly addressed to Fidelis. Is 3 the magic number for Real Madrid? - your intepretation seems to suggest so. Why must you speak for him? At no point was I not calm.

Paul, when I am among Barca fans I'm all support for the team. Including your point, I also remind them, among other things, of the Club of the Century, that we have won the league more times, the richest meaning we are also great businessmen etc. Even if the team plays poorly I'm all enthusiatic. But when I'm on this platform, I can afford to disclose how I felt - all in the spirit of finding a solution to the cause.

[...] Capello was very wise when he advised the club to sign him last season. He rarely misses the goal (Although he did the other day) Van is simply the man [...]
