Cristiano Ronaldo to wear the shirt number "9" at Real Madrid?

Rau'l: hey Ronaldo, you can get Paris Hilton, but not that number ;)
It looks like that Ronaldo will put pen on paper sometime next week and possibly be presented on the same day or maybe later with Kaka after he has ended the dispute with Real Madrid over his image rights (he wanted 60-40 in his favour, but he'll now get 50) However, the question on the mind of Madridistas now is what number is Ronaldo going to get?
A while back, while Calderon was negotiating for a deal, I reported that Ronaldo registered the "CR9" trademark (he also owns "CR7" and reportedly "CR10"). Considering that Rau'l owns the number "7" shirt, and won't give it for a million dollars, Ronaldo has to choose between the number "9" or "10". Currently, Saviola is the owner of the number "9" and since he is definitely leaving then Ronaldo can get it easily. Sneijder's place in the team is in doubt, but even If he leaves, and the number "10" becomes available, there is Kaka who has also set his sights on the famous number even though many people think he'd get Zidane's "5" shirt.
My take on this is: I think Ronaldo should get the number "9", Kaka the "5" and Ribery the "10" (Yes, Ribery is comin', come on Perez!)
I truly think it is irrelevant. What is more important is that we have a quality player in each position (and a decent backup too), and then it doesn't matter if they get certain numbers, wear shirts, jackets or even play naked.

Frankly, I think If Rau'l is going to be part of the project and Ruud is fit then we don't need a striker. We already have two quality youngsters in Huntelaar and Higuain and two world-class experienced strikers. If we are going to let go of Ruud or Raul will be given a few chances then yes I'd like Villa to come.
But here is what I think. I think that Perez is determined to bring a striker and that is most likely to be Villa. Benzima is a good striker, but I believe the second option in Perez' eyes is Forlan not Benzema.
If I were Perez, I'd focus on getting Ribery, a left-back and a center back, in that priority. If we had more cash and time we'd look at the prospect of brining a creative midfielder.
guys apparently lyons president and benzemas father and agent have confirmed that benzema will stay at lyon till atleast the end of the 09/10 season, but then again nothings impossible with florentino perez. but then again, he does seem to be more interested in forlan, now that villa is said to be off the trasnfer list.
as for marca and man u buying casillas, even if Real Madrid did accept a mammoth bid, which im sure they wont, casillas wont go.
I still think we can get Villa because from what I read he has a personal agreement with us for 5 years and the only reason they say he is not for sale because they dont want him to play for us because we are not offering as much as other clubs are and they know Villa only wants to go to Madrid.. so I think that Villa might force a transfer

For villa, i think nothing will be changed until teh Confederation Cup is ended. He should forced on his transfer cuz this might be his last chance to play in club that is ambitious for winning the CL trophy. Valencia can't play CL next season, plus their financial problem. Villa is almost impossible to stay. And the spanish striker has revealed that he only wants to come to real madrid if he really has to leave valencia. I think this is our biggest advantage. Otherwise, Barca could have already done the deal with team(Eto's undecided future also made their actions stuck cuz they looked villa as his replacement).
talking about Benzema, he is great and has tons of potential to become the best striker in the world. However, he is somewhat lacking of consistency and he still lacks some reliable performance in big stages to convincible others that he is improving. We've already had quality strikers. if we must buy one more, Villa is the only one we should chase for. Cuz it's only Villa who can give us immediate impact. He is ALREADY one of the best and is extremely reliable with his avergae score rate.

It is correct that Calderon was who reached a deal with Ronaldo, but lets not forget he also agreed to pay 80m pounds, and give Ronaldo an unbeliavble amount of money in salaries.
Plus, Perez signed Kaka in a week. Calderon couldn't do it in two years. The reason? Simple. Perez is friends with everyone and knows how to negotiate. He doesn't start flames and he keeps his mouth shut until he signs his targets.

And we shouldn't only look kaka's bad form as the only reason that led AC Milan to fail. Their team had tons of problem. Their defense was worse their ours. They don't have any reliable striker except Inzaghi. Pato, a second striker, was forced to play as along striker due the fact that they are lacking of quality box striker. They don't have wings. Zambortta(or Maximo Oddo) and Jankuloski have to attack all the time and left gaps for the backline. For a quality player like kaka, he needs a new enviroment to boost his career up again. He can't go any further in Milan.

it's somewhat because of their financial problem too. Along with Ronaldinho's arrival too. 08-09 season further proved that kaka and Ronaldinho are difficult to be co-existed. no.77 is signed by Silvio Berlusconi who cares of personal fame the most. he won't sell ronldinho at one season while kaka is far more valuable in the market. i believe they won't be stupid enough to sell kaka if they are not in need of cash. they are gonna sell pirlo too. and i forgot to tell u something mate, kaka is once the best footballer in the world. He is not in his top form now. And u CAN'T say it's "worse". Last season for kaka is just injury, injury, and injury. and if u judge his performance in AC Milan. Please, be more objective and look at things more precisely. kaka's been out for most of the season due to injury. And more importantly, it's the tactical decision about Ancelotti that made kaka playing out of position. So I try to manage.. Plus with Internet, I get to see some online also..
With CL, I am not much lucky, because I get to see only 2 games .

Sneijder and VDV can ruin their career for constantly being benched. VDV should find a better place that suits him better. Cuz I don't think his playing style suits to Pellegrini's football philosophy. For sneijder, i would like to see him staying cuz he is way more flexible and is more capable to adapt some new stuffs. no doubt, both of them are great piece takers. But i think Pellegrini will look up to develop the team more in skill level and will emphasize on more precious shot pass game rather than long pass game(which is easier to dispossess and is much more predictiable.) we shouldn't clean out the dutches but we should get rid of those who don't SUIT to play at La Liga or real madrid.

that's why we have to dedicate on signing some young talent attackers who are capable to play around the flank. If kaka gets injuried, the problem will be easily solved by playing back to the traditional 4-4-2. and if they both are injuried, two attackers have to step in but i guess that wouldn't be likely to occur. I personally recommend David Silva and Grenero. And i hope that there is someone who can pay some attention on 18 yr old David Monreno playing in almeria.

he is the most impressive one we have in recent years. His dribbling is superb and he is only 18 now. I wonder why we could have let him go but we signed some dude like Drenthe. speechless!! this is a shame. And i totally agree with wut u said about Douglas Costa!! everyone seems to keep eyes on 17 year old Nilmar from Santos, but douglas costa is far more impessive for me with his superb playmaking skill and vision. His pace, speed, and pass are fantastic. However, i don't think we can fit him in now with Kaka and CR7 in the squad.
Young talent shouldn't go to Real Madrid, bad career choice, their talent will go to waste and they'll be bench sitters. Talented players should go to Arsenal and develop there (Arsenal is the only top team that takes care of the youth, or play a few more years in the German/French/Dutch competition. Real Madrid usually goes for players in their prime and pays a lot to get them.
As for Drenthe, he was/is a talented player he just couldn't deal with the fans of Real, they made him insecure (to boo out a 20 year old kid is pretty pathetic/lame imho). Now every time he plays there he has anxiety attacks so he can't play freely. So my advice to a young talented player would be before you make a big a transfer think about your career in the long run, build up experience in Holland/Germany/France. Or if you necessarily want to play in England/Spain try another team where you don't have to spend most your time on the bench.
I think Perez made mistake by informing the world that he sign with Kaka and Ronaldo so fast ( within 10 days !! ) with that amount of money while the world suffer for financial crisis , this move IMO made the world think that real Madrid is an open bank .. and every team want a piece of it . while Perez now straggle to sigh players although his offers are fair and satisfying .. the teams want more and more ..

essein is a very "practical" one in terms of efficiency. He can contribute many things we need to the team. Any team in world will only be benefited to acquire such a hard working players with the flexibility to work on variable positions.

Figo was definitely not overrated. He was superb in 00/01, 02/03. amd 03/04. He had been affected by injuries(his ligament somewhere was hurt so badly against Porto in a CL game). in 01/02 when Zidane had a perfect form that made Figo look worse. other than that he did perfect in his right winger role. Beckham was more overrated. He was the one we didn't need. and Figo remained as the ONLY shinning star at the end of the 03/04 season when Ronaldo, Raul, and even Zidane were struggling.

De La Red proves his worth in the few matches that he played last season while Granero have all the attributes to be even better than Essien.While some might argue with me but Gago is a talent although he might not be consistent.Lets think of it this way,Gago will have Diarra to support him defensively and Kaka offensively.Even Wenger can flourish in that role.Plus,its not like im suggesting to start him every time.Just to give him a chance.

that position is definitely not overcrowded if u really realized what our problem in the midfield is. for those 3 u mentioned:
1.DLR had been great but his health is still an uncertainty. None of us dare say he is 100% fitted to play, especially when we need to compete for CL and La Liga, maybe the king's cup. and
2.for Gago, i am suprised that u still can see what his problem is. He can be an average defensive holding midfielder. But last season, he was the pain in the butt. It wasn't just inconsistent as what u said. His turnover was too high. He delievered all the wrong passes and most of those could be vital. He gotta be loaned IMO cuz i prefer both Diarra's in such destroyer role. Gago was way too slow too. He contributed to a big part of our midfield's failure last season. we relied so much on him while he ain't good enough to handle the job.
Granero is an attacker, or a winger, and there is no conflict bw Essein and him. So his comeback wouldn't be a problem.
Essein was just some ideal signning and it couldn't be done with "EASY" money. And i personally prefer Javier Mascherano who only costs 30 millions(if M.Diarra must have to go). Nonetheless, Xabi Alonso would be the best but he doesn't seem an easy signing .

I can’t agree with you on that. I think it’s important for a world class player and thus ambassador of the sports to act like a gentleman inside and outside the field. His character defines him as a player. Many considered Ronaldo to be very selfish (like Robben) in the field, other players found it hard to get along with him, he is despised in his own nation for that even. Liverpool is a team of whole, same goes for Barcelona. I’m afraid Real Madrid will turn out to be nothing more then a group of individuals and no matter how good your players are if they can’t play together as a team they have no chance of winning the champions league or la liga even.

I’m just speaking up for the players that are being treated like shit, the ones you were supporting the past year, the ones you all seem to have forgotten about. Does this make me a shithead? Far from!
I did support Real Madrid the past years, the main reason to be honest was because v. Nistelrooy played there. I highly respect him, he is supportive to both Real Madrid and his teammates. That's quite uncommon these days.
But what the hell is this about calling me a shithead just because I noticed there are 2 sides to a medal? If I support a team I much prefer to talk about the positive side of a team/club however I shan't be blind to criticism from fellow supporters/fans or people that don't support my hypothetical team.
So it’s great to be debate about who great a team/club is, how good their players are, how great the policy but that’s not real life. I try not to narrow my vision down to just the positive side. How will a forum/blog be if it just deals with that? Shallow comes to mind. No depth. Unrealistic. Of course I don’t agree with the so called Barca fans talking shit here, I do think it should be possible to have a mature debate about Madrid’s policy. And yes I mainly care about the players (in particular the Dutch players) cause their future is on the line here. Not only do I think the current implemented policy is bad for Real Madrid’s image in the world of football, it’s also bad for the players that were signed under perez’s predecessors. Some sort of grudge towards the Dutch players, they are at fault of everything that went wrong last season. They are the black sheep now. For instance Valdano threatening Robben to leave real for he will be excluded from the squad for the entire year, that’s BS! I’m not Robben’s biggest fan but I pretty much certain he was Real’s best player second part of the last season, now they want to sell him to some team that can’t compete in Europe. So there you have it, there is much controversy that need’s to be cleared.

Not really any big team I support to be honest. The Dutch league is on a whole other level, Ajax might have won the Champions league 4 times, without the 6+5 rule it is practically impossible for a Dutch team to win any price. Plus Ajax isn't playing the same attractive football as it used to. I can't identify myself with their current style. I'd rather support teams like AZ and Twente, which you have probably never heard of but they are playing the way Ajax should.

Xabi Alonso there is news taht he might be sold because liverpool bought a right back and need the money plus they will also sell Arbeloa because they bought a replacemtent for him.. and Raul Albiol who also shares the same agent as Arbeloa was in Madrid yesterday negotiating.. If we add those three players plus a striker or and winger then we should be set

if Arbeloa comes, he should play leftback like he used to in 07-08 season when he just arrived Liverpool. He had an impressive game in nou camp by stopping Lionel Messi, who tends to cut in a lot. being a right footer, he is weaker on driving down the flank and cross like most of the right-footed left back(except Philip Lahm), his powerful shooting skills gives him the advantage of gainning more space to shoot from distance when he plays on the left. he can be a sub of S.Ramos and can periodiatically be rotated with Marcelo when we are losing.
Albiol, the 24 year old leader of Valencia backline, is a very good option for us. He is already familiar with la liga and is a very stable central back. He wouldn't as physical as Vidic but he is also very reliable and will form a very solid backline with Pepe.
as we all know, Xabi Alonso can give our midfield a new look. Among those options, he is considered to be the one who can get used to Madrid's system in a very shot period of time. His experience in EPL during these yrs definitely strengthens him in physical level, along with his passing skills and vision. we don't have to suffer from Gago's horrible turnovers anymore.

however, the problem with arbeloa is that we are more in need of a left-footed "left wing back" who can open up the flanks with his runs according to the football philosophy of Pellegrini, who advocates to have attack midfielders cutting in rather than strenching out with typical wingers. if Robben is sold, none of our players(except CR who will more likely to play forward next season) is able to do this. Marcelo is great but his defense is horrible. i would rather have a try on Taye taiwo from marseille. He is He is known not only for his left-footed long range shots and crosses, physical strength, pace, but also his tackling ability. He wouldn't cost more than 17 millions(i guess)

it would work. and i also believe S.Ramos can be better than Albiol in the CB position once he GETS USDED TO IT. But it certainly takes awhile. He had done it but was not as stable as a pure CB. however, he and pepe can help to push the backline forward a bit with their lateral quickness. but it's still uncertain for me whether Higuain can score as many as he could last season when he played second striker. In ur formation, he couldn't drop back as much as often he used to be, instead, he has to stay insidet the box most of the time. I don't know if it will affect him cuz he ain't such a box striker. he might be able to do it but it's still uncertain. Or if it is not working out. We can pull out robben and give higuain space to drop back somewhere near the right flank. and put Huntelaar as the box striker.

De La Red,Gago and Granero might not be the same kind of players.i never said they were.What im saying is that with presumably Kaka,Ronaldo,Diarra and another wide player likely to be used in midfield, that only leaves one vacant spot left.
I still believe in Gago.He probably had a very bad season to say the least but im judging him on previous season as well where he was actually improving.
As for De La Red, you do have a valid point but from my point of view, the arrival of Essien or Alonso would minimise his chances if that is he decides to play.You might say there's a lot of games to be played next season but in Liverpool and Chelsea,Alonso and Essien have played almost every game.Just take a look at Lucas and Mineiro.That just leaves the King's Cup where they only have a handful of games.
While i was wrong about Granero, a certain Sneijder can be thrown in the mix.He had a great season back in 07/08 where he played a central role.
Only if Two of our own players leave would i support the move although i DO think Alonso and Essien would be great for us.

For Gago, no one dare say he CAN'T improve in the future but i dare say WE SHOULD NOT RISK ON HIM if we are expecting to have a successful season. during his 2.5 yr performance(including the previous that u thought he is good enough), he has NOT YET shown that he is able to handle the job we are expecting him to in the midfield. Defensively, he is just doing the average job and only deserves to be a sub for both Diarra's. He has NOWHERE near "good" if u consider him as a playmaking central midfielder. u gotta understand this first b4 u judge his what so called 07/08 season in which M.Diarra was there as a jam while Guti had been on fire most of the time. Gago is just average and has never reached Xabi and Essein level.(not yet) and it seems to take time for him to develop but i don't suggest to risk him in such an important role just to give him chance to develop. Loan him out!!
Same kind of concern goes to DLR. U can't say that ONLY BECAUSE OF the "UNCERTAIN" situation that WE SHOULDN'T bring in a reliable option like Xabi Alonso(my preferance) or Essein. The CM position is extremely important for a team and he cannot afford to take risk on some uncertainty. Of course, as a fan, i will be blessed to see DLR being healthy. But who knows??? we ain't the doctor and we ain't him!! we can't make certain about it so it's dangerous to risk it. We are a big team. and u gotta know how heart problems can affect a football player. And saying ALonso and Essein played most of their games is totally irrelevant, so were lucas and mineiro have they EVER had DLR's kind of situation??? think about this first mate. how to circulate the players are Pellegrini's job. let the coach be the decision maker and critisize unless he does sth out of reason. For gago, he is not in the best ranking but he is not that bad, being currently benched with just harms his career, so why not just lending him out to where he can earn a place in the starting lineup constantly? and then observe if he is improving to decide whether or not to bring him back the next season.
Quite simply, Casillas is worth 15-20 points to Real Madrid each season. If he gets sold we may as well wave goodbye to any trophies next season. Who's going to take his place? Dudek? Codina?
