Diarra got injured while playing with his national team, Mali. Club doctors said he'd be sidelined for 48-72 hours:
An MRI on Monday revealed that Diarra is suffering from a parameniscal cyst formation and synovitis in his right knee, which is expected to keep the Mali international sidelined for 48-72 hours.
This means he is likely to miss the game against Atletico Madrid. However, Bernd Schuster will have both Gago and Guti ready & fit to play in midfield.
Diarra has been in impressive form this season. Even during the holy month of Ramadan he did an amazing job. He was not able to eat or drink from sunrise to sunset, yet he managed to be in a good physical shape thanks to the program the doctors put in place.
On another note, Cannavaro, speaking to newspaper "AS" has stated that he'd like to stay in Madrid.
"I am very calm and and hoping to speak to the club to resolve my contract matters before the year is over. Everyone knows I want to extend my contract with Madrid. I don't want to leave. I am very happy here and my family is too."
"I start for Real Madrid and the Italian national team, which isn't easy to do. I know I have to take good care of myself. I feel great right now and am very confident in myself. The coaching staff and my teammates support me."
"I consider myself a Madridista. I feel the affection from the fans and I want to win the Champions League this year. Only then can I settle down."
There were some rumors floating around that Cannavaro was intending to go to Napoli once his contract expires. He said a few times in the past that he wishes to finish his career there where he kicked-it off.
But before doing that he wants to win more titles, specifically the Champions League, the only title he hasn't won. And only Real Madrid can hep him do that.
Being a fan of him myself, I support a contract-extension. Not only because he is a great defender, but because we don't have a "ready" replacement in place yet. Neither Heinze nor Metzelder is capable of being as good as Cannavaro in central defense.
Age is not an issue though. Cannavaro has always taken care of his physical form and that's why he is still playing up to this day. He has his ups and downs, nevertheless, he does a pretty good job.
Well, that's it for now. Should I find something interesting, I'll make sure to mention it here.
P.S: has anyone got any info on Ruud and whether he'll be able to play?
Hala Madrid!

1st . CANT WAIT FOR GAGO TO BE BACK , this is ur time to shine fernando !!
2nd. absolutely extend cannavaro's contract for 1st reason really , and that is that we dont have a player that is as good as him , maybe heinze , but it seems that schuster starts playin him on left backs lately...
To be honest, I've never seen Garay play. I'm not sure whether he'd prove himself at Real and be consistent. So as I said in my post, we should keep Cannavaro until we find a replacement whether that comes from Castilla or from another team.
To be honest , Gago never really convinced me that much . I never saw that drive that Diarra has when playing . I know he's young and doesnt have that much experience but still he needs to step up his game .

As far as ruud van nisteltooy's starting , last i heard was that his lower back pain wasnt that serious and he'll be ready to start !
