While the press is still talking about Cristiano Ronaldo as well as Robinho, Real Madrid seem very close to get a deal stuck with the Blues for their striker, Didier Drogba . Avram Grant has been sacked and the most likely candidate is Frank Rijkaard and the later intends to "clean out" the team and Drogba is said to be the first one to be kicked-out.
Drogba has previously expressed his intention of leaving Chelsea particularly after his favorite coach, Jose Mourinho was sacked. He has always been targeted by clubs including, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Barcelona, but according to some reports in England the player will land in the Bernabeu very soon.
Personally, I'd love to see him at Real Madrid because he is such a marvelous player. He'd be a good addition to Schuster's squad but I believe there are a few things that we need to consider here:
1) His age: Drogba is 30 - which means that If we are looking for the future - he'll retire soon and may not perform as he has been performing with Chelsea in the past years.
2) He won't accept being a second choice: the problem is that we already have strikers who have the same weight as Drogba. Rau'l & Van Nistelrooy would never accept the the fact that they'd be a second choice and so would Drogba. This would probably create some problems and Schuster would have to figure it out.
However, with Drogba, I believe we'd be more than able to win the Champions League. We will have more choices in the up-front but first we'll have to offload a few players: Soldado, Baptista or possibly Saviola?
Lets wait and see ......

Considering how Drogba performed under Grant,I think its not a great move.Agreed Drogba is a great striker and has scored many goals for Chelsea under Mourinho but isn't he becoming more temperamental by the day(read Champions League Final). If a player can lose his cool in a game of such magnitude over small small things then how he's going to cope up with the fierce and feisty defenders in the La Liga?I agree with Apoc about signing youngsters instead of signing a liability at the age of 30.
We certainly do need a striker whose hungry for goals with Van Nistelrooy(injury prone) and Raul(not got the best legs anymore..legend none the less) set to take the secondary role.Saviola for me was exciting to watch when he played at the end of the season, creating chances and moving the ball about intelligently.
A youngs striker would work wonders instead of a Drogba.
Sorry Rajab, but i have to agree with Apoc on this one. Although Drogba, in my opinion, in a quality striker i think he does have a bit of a bad attitude that could cause disharmony in the REAL MADRID squad. Currently there is a great spirit and unity amongst our players, and Drogba might wreck it.
Personally i don't feel we need a striker, Raul and Van Nistelrooy are still excellent forwards and should continue to do a job next season, while Higuain is an exciting prospect(and super-sub). Even Saviola, i believe, will come good if given more of a chance. I know we're considering selling Saviola, but i don't think we should. Plus not forgetting players like Sneijder, Robinho and Robben who chip in with a fair share of goals.

Personally I think he's got a bad attitude and would be a liability due to his temper, he's also become quite injury prone in his old age heh...a younger striker that'd work well in the team and not think he's the boss is what i'd prefer...Villa, Huntelaar and Benzema are all preferred choices for me. That's not to say I don't think Drogba is an awesome striker...I just think he'd create unrest.
Plus it looks more likely Drogba will go to inter where mourinho is said to be becoming manager tommorrow.
I know you like Drogba duder...but you gotta admit, Villa, Huntelaar or possibly Benzema are more what we should be getting...young, deadly and more adept at being a team player.
URGH! The worse news ( after the Cris Ronaldo stunt ) i've heard so far.I had to agree with Apoc. Drogba will end up like Anelka here.
