Getafe vs Real Madrid | La Liga Preview

Friday, 28 November 08, 07:32 AM · Comments (16)

Getafe vs Real Madrid - La Liga | 29/11/2008 - 20:00 CET | Alfonso Perez Stadium

Getafe FC are going through a bad spell having drew two and lost three of their last five matches against Huelva, Valencia, Osasuna, Sevilla and Barcelona, however, playing them in the Alfonso Perez stadium has always proved to be difficult not just for us but also for other teams.

Getafe are also based in Madrid and have recently been the home of a few of Real Madrid youth system products including Soldado, Granero and De La Red. Another fact is that Bernd Schuster had coached them before he became our coach.

So theoretically, you can say that we know them better than other teams do. It is just that Schuster probably knows them well more than any other coach to be more precise. However, having said that, they will still be dangerous and this match will be a very difficult one.

As for Real, we have seen a slight improvement in terms of performance and defending although we are still missing several key players due to injury.

Both of Arjen Robben and Fabio Cannavaro look to be fit for the match. However, Higuain, Diarra and De La Red are still doubtful and so they will be watching the game on their TVs, just like us.
Lineup
UPDATE: Squad List Announced - Canna and Robben out!
Goalkeepers
Casillas, Dudek
Defenders
Salgado, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo, Metzelder, Torres
Midfielders
Sneijder, Guti, Drenthe, Gago, Javi García, Van der Vaart
Forwards
Raúl, Saviola, Bueno

The fact that Robben and Cannavaro are likely fit to play doesn't mean they will start because they lack match fitness so I'd still stick with Torres, Ramos, Pepe and Marcelo in defense with a 4-4-3 formation.

In midfield, I'd play Gago, Guti, Sneijder and Van Der Vaart, just like this:

----- Gago -----

----- Guti -----

VDV -------- Sneijder

As in attack, I'd play Rau'l and Saviola, obviously because they are the only healthy strikers we have.

Another options for Schuster is to drop Saviola and play Drenthe as a left winger which would leave Rau'l alone up front and VDV, Guti and Sneijder behind. As in defense, I don't see any options other than using Metz in central defense while Ramos on the right.

Prediction

As I said earlier, although Getafe are going through a tough period, they will still be dangerous as they proved to some point against Barcelona the other day. I don't think they'll play defensively, so I think we will have more spaces and we should be affective in counter-attacking.

Having said that, I'm gonna predict a hard-fought 2-0 win with both goals from Saviola.

What are your thoughts, prediction and lineup?

Hala Madrid!

P.S: Here is a video of Ramos' and our only goal against Getafe when we played them in their stadium last season.

There has been a major discovery by me. I hope this straightens the minds of those who were fooled by him. The one named Christiano Ronaldo was seen at Euro 2004 crying with this man....LINK 8O
As for the match, I thin we're going to win 1-0 yet again thanks to a goal by Sneijder. It'll be a tough game and we have to without Robben AND Canna :? Hala Madrid! =D

Without canna and robben, we'll face another hard match. The defence is already good with ramos in the centre, but ìt will be more perfect with canna, and then the winger, well, we really feel the lost of robinho(just look at his goal against arsenal, awesome!), since robben is good but he suffer injury a lot, so we lack good winger now, i predict 1-0, sneijder scored a fantastic goal, 2-0 if van der vaart play, can't wait for january, i guess we'll have some new good players, Hala Madrid!!

Thankfully the Crespo saga seems to be over...Real Madrid ONLY wanted to to offer a 6 month loan to Crespo whilst Crespo wanted a permanent deal. Now it seams both sides don't want to give in...putting end to the saga =D

About the match I predict a 2-1 victory...goals from Raul and VDV.
