This is just in from Realmadrid's official website :
After being observed throughout the day by Real Madrid's Medical Services and Dr. Van Dijk, as well as undergoing a clinical examination that included x-rays, it was decided that Cristiano Ronaldo should continue his recovery protocol until the final pre-established date which is next Friday, at which point he can resume group training.
There has been some good news and a positive atmosphere in the past few days surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo's recovery and it seemed he was close to a full recovery and a come back as soon as next weekend, but Ronaldo's Dutch doctor, Dr.Van Dijk, has decided that it would be safe for Ronaldo to stop group training and return to his special recovery protocol.
I won't deny that his announcement has made me feel a bit down, because in all honesty, I would like Ronaldo to be ready as soon as possible. However, I don't want him to be rushed and for that reason I respect Dr. Van Dijk decision and consider it as the right thing to do at the moment. He is a specialist and he knows better than anyone else who Ronaldo is doing.
It is a fact that Cristiano recovers quickly and this is a good thing, but I don't expect him to play against Santander at at all because he, If things went well, would resume training on Friday, though I wouldn't rule seeing him feature against Zurich. The most important thing is that he makes a full recovery and it doesn't matter If he makes it for the Clasico or not although having him against Barca is of course a huge plus and a moral boost.
As I said, unless he is fully recovered, Ronaldo shouldn't be pressed to play.
What do you think?

Take your time, your young!
I think that the quote from the official madrid website "...continue his recovery protocol until the final pre-established date which is next Friday, at which point he can resume group training" is a little confusing as next friday suggests he will start normal group training the friday of next week (the 25th of november). However the pre-established date that they mention if memory serves correctly from the real madrid statement about 10 days back said that Ronaldo's case would be reviewed by the dutch doctor in 15 days time - aka on the 20th which happens to be this coming friday. Considering the player is already running and kicking a ball around it is likely the madrid website made a confusing grammar mistake when typing 'next friday', when they should of said ' THIS friday' or 'which is ON friday' to clarify the situ better.
But whatever they meant it is unlikely he'll play against Santander for more than 20 minutes and against Zurich for more than an hour realistically but whether Madrid will take the realistic route cannot be confirmed right now so it's anyone's guess!
We don't need him against Racing and Zurich. We need him fully fit for Barca...although now he lacks match fitness

i agree i dont get it...so hes not gna be able to play against barca ?

I just heard news that he may not play against racing but will start for Zurich match ..
I think people are exaggerating about Ronaldo's injury a little bit. Yeah he needs to recover; but his 94M price tag is makin everybody all stressed up.
Anyway he isn't going to be rushed; and he is not ruled out of the Santander game yet or atleast till the squad list is out.
I wouldn't mind if he played for 3mins in the Satandar game; maybe a free kick or 2.
The way I see it; for him to be in form for Barca he'll need to score goals, he's so the type of player who his performance effects his moral and effectiveness on the pitch, bad passes and missed shots will effect him very badly; just like how he first came back from his injury in ManU
Hey what's all the worry about the Zurich game??Whether Ronaldo plays or not we should win. I'd rather not play Ronaldo for that game and be sure he plays in the classico then tensely watching the Zurich game...hoping Ronaldo doesn't get injured...and then cursing our luck if he does.
I wish Ronaldo gets fit for classico n we go full strength against barca.i would not risk ronaldo till thn, we need him against barca badly it doesn't matter he scores or not but having him in squad will be moral boosting. There defense will be more focused on him which will give oder more chances to score.I wish pele benches raul 4 dis game n starts with vdv, i believe defense line up consisting of
ramos-pepe-albiol-arbeola with support of lassana & alonso(if he gets his old touch bck) will be able to hold barca 4rm scoring.
i would also like pele to start wid single striker higuain supported by vdv,cr9 n kaka with kaka playing as second striker.
hoping 4 d best
Hala madid!!!..
We need to be cautious with Ronaldo. Personally, I feel that he should stay in bench against Racing. Against Zurich, he should start but be replaced by Marcelo or Drenthe in second half depending on the match-situation.
totally agree!!
but Adam what do you think about our declining youth team
dont you think we should promote more youth teamers instead of buying more playrs?
we shud promote this 18 yr old Marcos Alonso who could solve our LB problem instead of looking at big teams and gt their playrs
Reply to punkfusion:
If madrid starts promoting/playing their youth players then it won't be of commercial interest 4 madrid.it has been years tat a player from academy has shine at madrid.Madrid's youth has potential but madrid head doesn't realize dis until he shines n prove it at anoder club.
i hope pele n perez starts concentrating at thr youth academy as well
hala madrid!!..
I agree with you about starting the match with lone striker since with the current set of players we are flexible enough to shift from 4-5-1 to 4-4-2, 4-2-2-2, 4-2-2-1-1 or even 5-4-1 according to the situation of the game without much troubles.
But I don't agree about Higuain playing as lone striker or central forward. No doubt, he is a good scorer and has pace but the problem is he lacks strength and ability to hold ball. As you said, if we play a second striker, RVN would be the best man for that position. However, if we want a flexible formation so that Kaka can move back to his favourite CAM position whenever required, we need to play Benzema, coz he has pace, can hold ball and have long range shots, needless to mention, is a decent finisher. Klaas Jan Huntelaar would be very nice option playing there (though he has not lived upto his potential in recent days). But no point in mentioning him.
All depends on what tactics the coach opts for. I am not totally convinced that we will be playing 4-5-1 against Barca, but if we do, Higuain is not a right person to lead lines.

Hmm..well, Higuain should play the game but not as the lone striker, as you said, that should be Benzema. We should start Higuain on the right wing with Ronaldo on the left. Kaka can play second-striker while Lass and Alonso form the double pivot. It works into a 4-2-3-1 which is certainly our ideal formation. Higuain will take Barcelona's defenders on, which they're not used to. It's essential to have our two fastest players; Ronaldo and Higuain on the pitch. We'll need to counter for which they're essential.
This is a big test for our defence, Pepe and Sergio Ramos in particular to prove whether they can defend against a top team.

Agreed.
Reply to Madridfan_India:
oh sure, my pleasure!!
Dr. Van Dijk looks like so mysterious I'm no consipiracy theorist but this does not look like a doctor O.o LINK
Reply to TheAngelOfMadrid:
That's probably the best formation that we could play. Higuain can play as a lone striker but he is more effective dropping back and picking up the ball. Kaka should start behind the strikers. Gatusso has a point (if you believe the papers) Kaka has not looked like himself. On occasions he has been quite sluggish and does not try to recover the ball after he looses it. As for defense Ramos had to grow up. He should already realize that he is quite rough on the tackle. Also I can't for the life of me understand why Florentino and Valdano are not in Munich trying to negotiate with Beckenbauer over Philip Lahm! We would easily slide in into the defense. Barcelona have him on their radar but Lahm may see Madrid more favorable seeing that they have Danny Alves so they would compete for the same spot. We have Marcelo, Arbeloa, and Drenthe. I see it as a no brainer. Lahm is unhappy at Bayern, we need a left back, and we have the money to afford him.
Wtf? 50 days on, and CR9 is still isn't fit!
There is no god in this world!
As if you needed another reason to hate France... Ireland have been cheated.
Reply to Ryan McManus:
there manager is sucha weirdo doesnt even play benzema! ah!
albiol is injurd i hope its not serius
yeah Albiol picked up a knock and is doubtful for Racing but I think Garay should get a chance to start and I dont think its serious also Sergio Ramos is suspended..
GOOD NEWS! One more great manager cud become available for Real Madrid! Russia are out of the WC & Guus Hiddink may resign as coach. Hala Madrid!
Reply to Ryan McManus:
I'd rather see France playing in the world cup than lowly Ireland. If I have to watch a match of either of the two, I'd pick France over Ireland everyday of the week & twice on Sunday!
Reply to galacticos:
uhm... France with Domenech don't deserve shit, everyone agrees. That coach is absolute rubish; I only wished france would lose so they can sack the coach.
Reply to Madrid4Life:
It's good that France and Portugal have qualified. It will give us huge economic boost.
What's more important: a win or a beautiful football?
Reply to Bond:
A beautiful win.
Reply to Madrid4Life:
What about playing a very attractive football yet loosing it?
The most important thing is A FAIR WIN. Had France played well and won with their own legitmate, amazingly-played and scored goals, they would have deserved it.
Ireland were much more better. Period. I demand that FIFA uses VIDEOOOO!
Reply to Adambader:
I totally agree abt the fact that france doesnt deserve to win that match but hey thats football shit happens today it can be in ur favor 2morow against u! Thats just how it is in any sport! The ref fuckd up and thats it.........Ireland tuff luck i feel for ya'll!
Reply to Bond:
You didn't get me.. By beautiful win. I mean both. Attractive football and a win.
As a Madridista anything less isn't up to my expectations.
Reply to Adambader:
Seriously I agree the sport needs to devolop. Even the poorest countries can afford cameras on the pitch.
Don't be too harsh on france remember zidane got a red card because the 3rd referee saw him on the camera; which is very hypocritical of fifa.
They need to start making rules. I agree. Fifa need to develop the game more.
Reply to Madrid4Life:
I don't know if you guys agree with me but I think that football would be a whole lot more boring with the introduction of cameras and what-not. Refereeing mistakes are practically a part of the game. I'm not saying that they shouldn't improve he system because some descisions like Henry's handball and Maradona's 'Hand of God' were disgraceful.
This is why I think the challenge system used in tennis is ideal. Each team gets three tries to challenge the referee's call. It's fair IMO.
Reply to TheAngelOfMadrid:
Challenge system would slow the game down.
What they need to do is put a seperate referee who has access to screen with the cameras and that referee is always in contact with the referee on the pitch.
Benefits:-
1- Less aggressive playing which leads to less injuries.
2- Discipline on the pitch.
3- No more hand of gods.
4- Game will go to who deserves it.
Cons:-
1- Increased debate and criticizm to the refs
2- Implenting it wouldn't be viable for undevoloped countries but they can always make if for the big tournaments or the decise matches as a solution.
Reply to Madrid4Life:
They already have such a referee if i'm not wrong but I agree with you, he should have a more significant role.
Reply to Madrid4Life:
yeah we definitely need modern technology in football, especially replays. Does anyone remember the penalty which was given to AC Milan against us in the 1st CL game? and the red card to Raul Albiol against Getafe?
I don't want my game to be spoiled by some stupid ref!
What about u guys?
Reply to Madrid4Life:
No no I got what you mean. Actually, I was thinking about Brazil and Argentina, and this thing popped up. Brazil, basically, plays to win. While "beautiful game" is the philosophy of Argentine football. Compare the achievements of both teams. Its not that Argentina lacks quality, but Brazil continues to be the most dangerous team, far better of the two.
But is Brazil's game ugly? No. It's so much entertaining to watch them play, though they don't stick to the notion of beautiful football. They are the most successful footballin nation. Yes, they play beautiful football.
Now comes the question that the game Real Madrid plays is firmly established on the theory of beautiful football, and we are the most sucessful club in history. (To be honest, we are the most successful club of 20th century, not of this decade.). What I think is, during the times when we were at the height of success, we aspired MORE to win than to play beautiful football (by this I don't mean beautiful football was not part of our game). As we kept winning and being sucessful, this brand of footballing style established which we are craving to play now. Is our game the same that used to be? Have we lived upto our trademark style? Winning is a habit and it has not been ours today. When it becomes our habit, when we play to win, to thrash opponents, when our opponents loose half battle before facing us then beautiful football will automatically come.
So for now, lets give our players and coach some space. Lets play to win. At the end of the day, the 3 points count. When winning becomes the part of our game, we will start to play beautifully. Its good to see us showing some glimplses but we will need some time b4 we play our traditional game regularly. Till then I am happy with 1-0 win, unless we play wild-crosses-and-rough tackles-game.
Reply to galacticos:
Haha... what about the fact that Ireland were outplaying France for the entirety of the match?
Reply to TheAngelOfMadrid:
We can make the provision of certain numbers of appeal against the refree's decision under certain conditions, like foul in D area or some red card decisions. Still, refree shuld have very important role. the presence of this human factor is necessary as every decision can't be objective. Also it's true that, as sm1 said here, it makes the game more intersting.
I dont think it will have significant effect on speed of the game. Most of the times, we are loosing time on debates and conflicts during such situations anyways. However, if the game is constantly monitored by another refree, he can use that (or lesser) time to give decisions, and such decisions wud rarely be questionable. But they shud make such provisions smartly. Numbers of appeals must be limited.
Reply to Bond:
*edit: numbers of possible appeals must be limited.
Reply to Bond:
I know this isn't how tennis works, but I think if you appeal successfully then you should be able to appeal again.
Reply to Ryan McManus:
take a poll of all the football watching ppl in the world as to which team they want to see in WC 2010: France or Ireland?

Ireland outplayed the French.... argh.. Henry the bastard, but I would have touche the ball with my hand -- I mean it is the WORLD CUP

Albiol looks ok which is good.. Garay should get to play
Reply to Ryan McManus:
not deserve, but I would surely prefer to see france than ireland that's for sure.
Reply to Ryan McManus:
Another option can be what they do in cricket. Players themselves don't appeal to the fourth official, but the on pitch refree can consult him anytime he feels doubt.
LMAO that was actually funny hahaha
Don't worry we will pull out another 4-0, expect Real Madrid to trash overrated Farca in Nou Camp.
Inter Milan will beat Farca so will the other team and Barca will be in the Europa League.
We should use this lineup:
------Casillas-----
Ramos---Albiol---Pepe---Arbeloa
-------Xabi------Lass
------------Kaka--------------
--Higuain------------Ronalda
-----------Benzema
pretty much a fixed 4-3-2-1. Kaka as AM, Higuain and Ronalda out wide, Benz as striker. Benz and Higuain can switch during the game, Ronalda can switch swings....
lol dude.. i should appreciate you that u got a really apt title for your post... it certainly brought so many laughs to me.. and i can easily say that u r eligible to become the laughing stock of the world.. funny guy.. we need more of these ppl on this forum for some entertainment factor...
Funny. Pepe and Ramos owned your attack once, they can bloody-well do it again. You should be worried about your defence mate, don't overrate yourself. Not to mention San Iker won't let much past him this time. We played a make-shift defence in both Clasico's last year but it won't be the case again. This time, it's a fair game with two very strong teams. If you do manage a 6-2 again, kudos to you guys.
u r insane!!!!"I strat a match supporting a team and end up supporting another. Remember Champions league final, that ManU vs Chelsea...well I was supporting ManU until Ronaldo missed that penalty...then I started cheering for Chelsea...but when Terry fucked off his chance, i reshifted my support to ManU...yuppy we won Champions League!!!" WTF...PLEASE GET A MEDICAL CHECKUP fROM SOMEWHERE
Wat a fan....i feel ashamed of myself nw..lol..
btw i like to give ua a advise 'don't ever go watch a football match in a stadium,u won't be able 2 see d complete match as u'll be busy changing jerseys after every goal/penalty'.
Get a life man try having a identity of ur own.
Hala Madrid.

Dude even in this formation we can thrash farca, cause we would defend awesome and then in counter ronadlo and kaka would both score a brace easily and from set peices ramos would score 1.... so i think the score would be farca 0 - 5 Madrid....!!!!
Dude who started with all the crap by giving a stupid formation/...........
and i dont know abt the alcorcon game but loved the rubin kazan game, and if inter were to beat u guys which is very likely than u will be knocked out of cl if rubin wins!!!
now that would be awesome...!!
and that is the only trophy farca can try & win this season, the other two League & Cl farca can try but wont win......
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL! i you don't shut your mouth i'll call Rubin Kazan again for you
HHAHHAHAHAHAH and leave Real Madrid for a moment, coz SAMUEL ETO'O is back Inter Milan will show you how football is played
after that we'll talk about El Clasico' but don't run away okay
