Real Betis 1-2 Real Madrid | La Liga Review

Celebración de Heinze

Bernd Schuster's men has snatched another three points as they beat Real Betis 1-2 in a thrilling battle in which Van Nistelrooy scored his 60th goal in the white shirt.

Schuster started as usual with Casillas in goal, Ramos on the right, Heinze and Pepe in center of defense and Marcelo on the left.

In midfield, there was De La Red and Diarra. VDV & Robben played on the wings. As in upfront, Ruud partnered captain Rau'l.

The first half was pretty good for Real. Both of De La Red and VDV played very well in the midfield and did a good job.

Heinze scored for Real when he headed VDV's free-kick. It was a nice goal and the team felt better after that goal.

Betis weren't that active in the first half. Real had pretty much all of ball possession and it was clear that Schuster's team was going to win.

However, in the second half, the host team started to attack and gain ball possession. A stupid decision by the referee gave Betis a penalty kick and sent Marcelo off. Stupid, because I think Marcelo shouldn't have been sent it off, because it wasn't a bad tackle.

Sergio Garcia, who by the way is a cold fish, scored from that penalty. Real had only 10 men on the pitch so it was difficult to get back to the game.

Schuster sent in Torres to replace Rau'l. That allowed Diarra to go back to his normal position in the midfield.

De La Red was then replaced by Javi Garcia and Drenthe came in for VDV.

Sergio Garcia was then sent off for a harsh tackle on Drenthe. It was then fair and in the injury time Ruud Van Nistelrooy scored the team's second and his 60th goal with the whites.

All in all, it was a good match. The team played well and showed class and quality. We should continue playing like this and by the time we have Gago, Sneijder and Guti fit, we will be even more better.  Now bring on Zenit!

Hala Madrid!

Hey, I guess the red card was legitimate, but was the penalty? I mean, some Betis player had already taken the shot, and Casillas had saved. So, wasn't the penalty a wrong decision?
Btw, how lame was Barca's victory? they needed a cheating referee (He should have just worn a red and blue shirt for his partiality) to win against espanyol. Comon, I wouldn't want madrid to win by being awarded a late penalty that didn't even exist.

Hello there, i'm fahmi from indonesia, guess this is the first time i show up in this site. i actually have been following this site for long time, but i never got that chance to join you guys, but the time has come, and absolutely, i feel honoured if you guys can accept me in this community, because real madrid is my, and will always be, my favorite team =D , about the win against Betis, this is a big time victory, we're not in good position after marcelo was sent, but still, the team showed their determination, and that kind of spirit is what we need when we face Zenit, Ruud became more consistent, i saw lot more maturity in de la red, and Van der vaart, my new favorite player after that wonderful backheel against gijon, showed that he's able to build the team's play. We'll absolutely win our tenth champion league, Hala Madrid!!! :D

What made you think it was legitimate? I mean, Marcelo didn't intend to bring him down, they were both going for the ball.

As for Barcelona, I didn't see the match but my dad told me that Messi scored a penalty to give them another win.

Congrats on the win and the three points . But don't you guys think its strange that Schuster played Robben up front instead of Gonzalo H. I mean the guy would've finished some of the attacks that the Whites made . Schuster works in strange ways some times lol

It was a hard game but we made it. We won in the extra time. It was an interesting game to watch. I also watched Espanyol and Barcelona and I`m very frustrated becuase the arbiter show penalty, but it was obviously that the defender touch the ball first.

The La Liga still suffers from really bad refereeing . I wish the FA would look into this because its the only real factor that is ruining the league

A good victory methinks especially considering that Betis beat us last season in the same fixture. I was particularly impressed with Ruben De La Red. He showed good workrate coupled with an ability to open up the attacks. It has proved a shrewed move in bringing him back and not selling him. Also worthy of praise are Diarra, Pepe, S.Ramos and Ruud(for the goal if nothing else).
HALA MADRID!!!

De La Red is improving gradually and becoming a good player. He only needs consistency and trust from Schuster.

It's always a pleasure to have more fans, welcome to the blog :D But I do think you're getting carried away a little, winning the tenth is possible but not probable and i'm just being honest. The team is great, with Sneijder, it will be complete and we will play even better yet there are teams like Chelsea and Utd out there who pose the strongest threat. We must be alert and hope for the best, but I have faith in the team so I know they can make it ten. Hala Madrid! Time to make it ten =D
