Real Betis - Real Madrid
27/09/2008
20:00
Venue Ruiz de Lopera
Sid Lowe, who is my favorite football journalist, has written an awesome article titled "Anything Barca can do ... Madrid can do it better". It is an interesting read and I highly recommend you check it out.
Sid compares Madrid to Barca and how both teams have been doing recently. The funny thing is that both teams have a similar fixture list, for example, Barca played Numancia on their La Liga opener, we played Numancia the weekend after. They played Gijon, we played them too. And we are also playing Betis tomorrow night who played Barca just a couple of Days ago.
And we did better against all of these teams... better than Barca did.
With 14 goals in four matches, we take on Real Betis tomorrow night at the later stadium. No injuries have been reported so far and the team is backup and ready.
However, Betis losing to Barcelona 3-2 doesn't mean that we can easily beat them because we simply do better than Barca. Well, yeah, I believe we do better than Barca, but underestimating Betis would be a huge, huge mistake and I think thats the reason Schuster opted to rest Van Nistelrooy and Ramos, because he is serious about the game against Betis.
I don't expect it to be a party like the one we just had a few days ago, but a true battle. Their stadium is always hard to play at but yet I'm optimistic and positive and have confidence in the team.
Lineup
The German will definitely keep on counting on De La Red and Diarra in midfield. He may rest captain Rau'l for the Champions League clash against Zenit and instead start with Higuain or Saviola. As for VDV & Robben I think they'll play considering that Sneijder and Guti are still out and so they can't take a break.
The defense will be the same maybe with the return of Ramos on the right. Heinze could also feature on the left - we need to watch the game to find out though.
Prediction
As I said, It is not going to be another party. Nevertheless, I'm confident we will win and If we play like we did against Gijon we will certainly score at least two goals. My prediction is 2-1 for Los Blancos. Ruud & again VDV.
Whats your thoughts, prediction and lineup?
Hala Madrid!
I still think we should be on our toes .. its still early and the team is not really that complete .. I just wouldn't run around saying " Champions" yet

Great article, loved the Sid Lowe quote. Just like to say about the co-incidence that Barca and Madrid have played the same teams, that's because if you look at the fixtures then every game for the rest of the season they are playing the same teams after each other. Have a look. So Madrid will be...
Yeah you are absolutely right, I think this isn't intentional nevertheless entertaining for everyone LOL

Nobody said we are champions. I think with the return of Sneijder the team would be complete. We don't need a striker or a winger only if we want to over-load these positions.
Your prediction was right on the money, Adam! What really impresses me about the team now is that they might not necessarily be flashy or entertaining every match, but they are getting results. One man down earlier today but Real still held on. Barca, on the other hand...
Although it's still early days yet. If nothing major happens to the players, I'd see Real and Villareal the two teams fighting it out.

I have a feeling this will be another party but I gotta be realistic, that's not gonna happen, odd are against it. I expect a win, something like 2-1 or 3-1 not more because Betis have a point to prove and we shouldn't get complacent. We did well this week but that doesn't make us invincible and we have to stay alert. I say Robben will score the first and Van der Vaart will score the rest, hopefully through screamers
Hala Madrid!
