Real Madrid vs Barcelona

Real Madrid have proved once again not only they deserved to win the league, but they are also the best team in Spain. Los Blancos defeated rivals Barcelona 4-1 with a superb performance that we haven't seen in a long time.

Schuster
used a quite defensive lineup that consisted of Casillas, Ramos, Pepe, Heinze, Marcelo, Gago, Diarra, Guti, Sneijder, Robben and captain Rau'l. I think playing both Diarra and Gago was a very good decision as they perfectly dominated the midfield and didn't let Barca's players build-up any games.

I've never liked Robben this season, but his performance last night was impressive. He actually could've scored at least more goals hadn't been bad luck. Also, Diarra was strong and fast; he really helped the team much. I don't think that Real will sell him in the summer.

One again Higuain proved that he is a player that can play for a club like Real Madrid. Just after he came on, he scored a fantastic goal and played very well in the remaining time; damn good!

Nistelrooy was back and Robinho was generous enough to give him that penalty as to boost the Dutchman's confidence.

9.2 million people watched the match and how Barca were belittled, bossed Over, bashed in & blasted. It was the most watched Clasico since 20 November 2004, and It was also the first time since 25 years that Real beat Barca away and home. This is another achievement to add ;)

Anyway, congrats to all Madridistas for this superb victory; it was a sensational night (my brother and I could've gone into a fight as he is a Barca fan - poor kid lol). Well-done to Schuster, our players and of course our managment.

Here are some Madridisimo reactions:

Schuster:

“Barcelona is a team that plays very offensively and, therefore, can leave open holes in defense. It was an important match for them, not only because they wanted to please their fans, but because they had the second spot in the table at stake. We found the formula to stop their offense and managed to thwart any dangerous plays. We were superior and are very satisfied with this triumph.”

“Of course we wanted to cap off the season with a victory over Barcelona in front of our fans. The team's attitude was phenomenal throughout the ninety minutes. When the title is already in the bag players may lose a little focus, but that wasn't the case. They took on the match as if it was a final and I want to congratulate them for a job well done.”

“Barcelona came into the match already in a sticky situation. Our first two goals really hurt them. We spoke about it before the match. It was important to score first in order to bring them down. We were fortunate to score twice in the opening minutes, which also allowed us to control the situation and not permit Barcelona to get comfortable on the pitch.”

“No one expected Barcelona to be in this situation at the beginning of the season. We thought we had what it takes to fight for the title, but opening this lead is quite shocking. We have won a hefty number of points which is why the lead is what it is, but nobody expected it.”

Mijatovic:
“I'd like to congratulate the players because they played a complete game. Perhaps some believed we'd take our foot off the gas after winning the league, but we proved that we respect our opponent. We came to win and everything went our way. We have to keep it up and do well in our last two matches.”

“The Zamora is almost in Casillas' hands and I am very happy for him and for the team. They were all outstanding. If this team has one thing, it's commitment. They are amazing professionals and incredible players.”

“Raúl, Higuaín, and Robben have been on fire of late, but they had a lot of help from their teammates. They have shown they are brave and that they can give us a lot to cheer about in the future.”

“The atmosphere in the Bernabéu was fantastic. Matches like tonight's are the best to play; such an incredible atmosphere and extraordinary fans who support us from the opening minute. As a former player I can say I am envious. I would have even liked to play ten seconds. But the players deserve the spotlight now, and they can bring a lot of joy to the fans in upcoming years.”

“Everyone is very pleased with everything that is happeneing. The players have responded in the best way possible. The fans are happy and we are even more so. We will play the next two matches and then begin celebrating.”

Guti:
"Barcelona have to try to look ahead. They are going through a tough situation for a big club. You don't perform as well as usual when you are no longer in the fight for the league or a European competition, even if you try not to. We had an impressive first half with eight or nine chances on goal. We are all very happy."

"The guard of honour was rather peculiar. Barcelona have proven to be true sportsmen. Rijkaard too. We would've done the same."

"I was very excited throughout the game partly because my family came to see it. The fans have been wonderful to the team and myself throughout the year. One always likes people to think of him after doing a good job. It's been amazing. I've had a great career and I still have three more years left here during which I hope to win many more titles. Very few people can say they've won 14 titles at Real Madrid."

"We want people to see that we are united. We are all very happy and the President, the Board and the fans support us. Casillas, Raúl and myself have been playing here for long and we know what this shirt stands for. There are many young people anxious to do well here. The good communication between the youngsters and the veterans on the squad is what makes us a united team both on and off the pitch."

"I feel more devoted to the team each year and that the fans value my efforts more. I hope to stay here many more years and pass on the number '14' shirt to another youth system player. I've already signed my lifelong contract. I will stay here three more years for sure and from then on I will have to earn my spot on the squad. It was more important for the team to win the league than to make this public."

"My children came onto the pitch when the game was over. They have always celebrated my titles. I wanted them to be here today because they couldn't travel with us to Pamplona. They are an essential part of my life and I am very happy about them being here tonight."

Higuaín:
“It was the first ball I touched and I had the fortune of scoring. I am very happy to have scored. Scoring is just a matter of streaks, and right now I'm hot, but we have to remain grounded and enjoy the good times because they don't last long. Because of the pride and prestige of this institution, winning for our fans was a must tonight.”

“It's been a complete league. We were the fair winner and we proved it tonight against a great team. Now it's time to enjoy it and finish of the remaining matches with the same responsibility.”

“I am very because the fans poured their hearts out. The team played as if we had the league in play. I was really looking forward to improving. I am proud to play for this team and to fight to give everything I can to these fans.”

“This victory is for the fans who have always stood by us and supported us.”

Casillas:
“It was just another derby and we had to win it. The fans stuck by our side at all times and it was a spectacular environment. It was a special match because we had never won a league outside the Bernabéu and the celebration in Pamplona was a little cold.”

“Today was an absolute party and we were able to celebrate the league in incredible fashion. We still have a match here against Levante and we hope we can make our fans just as happy again.”

Marcelo:

“I think it was one of the best matches of my career, especially because it took place during a Real Madrid-Barcelona. Everything since winning the league has been a dream and what took place today was really astounding.”

“I can't ask for more than being champion and defeating Barcelona the way we did. We wanted to win so we could dedicate to those who deserve it. The stadium was spectacular. Defeating Barça is very complicated and we were all overjoyed.”

Pepe:
“Not only Higuaín performed well, but the team as a whole was perfect. We have to have a lot of respect for this shirt and that's what we did tonight because we are professionals.”

“We have to play our game in Zaragoza because we want to continue this great run and close out the season in fine form.”

“It's been a great season, but I still have a lot to learn. I push myseld harder every day and hope to help the team in any way I can. I am very happy to be here and to have been able to play this match the way in which did.”

Heinze:
“You get nervous during a match. That's just football for you. Sometimes one team is worse than the other and vice versa. That's just how it goes. Now it's time to have fun. Tonight's match was for our fans. We wanted to win and we would have guaranteed this score even before kick-off. We came out like we're supposed to in every match. We brought our game faces.”

“We cannot say Barcelona was a weak team today. Real Madrid deserves the credit. Our goal was to score first. Playing in their stadium is very difficult, but if we hit first we knew the match would be ours.

“We ran the risk of coming out relaxed, but we were focused. Scoring first was crucial. It was the key to the match. When things go well we don't feel fatigue. It would have been different had they scored first, but when there's an atmosphere like tonight's surrounding this team, we don't feel tired at all.”

Yup, I'm only sorry for my little brother who got frustrated when Higuain scored the third goal; he lost hope that Barcelona won't come back. It was a lesson in football and now Barca fans should shut-up because they are no longer the best!

HALA MADRID!

HALA MADRID!

We were excellent and merciless against Barca, Diarra and Marcelo deserved a goal each for their hard work,

It was so funny seeing tears in the eyes of Valdes, Rijkaard and pure frustrations on Henry and Messi.

Schuster has shown he is a good coach and deserves alot of respect, from team management techniques to reading of a game, he is good.

[...] It is still unknown why Schuster left-him out of the Clasico’s squad, although he would be motivated enough to crunch his ex-team. However, I think he will be [...]
