Real Madrid 4-3 Malaga | La Liga Review | Higuain Scores Four Goals!

Higuain

If there is one thing I realized tonight then it was that our defense needs a "clean up". Yeah, you heard me, I don't give a damn if that means selling Heinze, Metzelder or even Ramos, we just need to stop making these stupid defensive mistakes.

We made a lot of mistakes tonight and costly mistakes. Both of Heinze and Marcelo were responsible for the first goal. How come an average player like Eliseu could beat both of them? That is beyond me.

And the second goal, oh Heinze again. I mean does this guy watch his matches? He is just constantly making mistakes. And then came Ramos who really pissed me off. He was deservedly sent-off. It was fair no question about that. Stepping on other player's chest is outrageous. I hope that the Spanish Federation will ban him for more than one match and even take more disciplinary action, I know that won't be good for us, but as I a soccer fan, I can't tolerate such a behavior.

Anyway, as for the lineup, well, Schuster started with Casillas in goal, Ramos, Cannavaro, Heinze and Marcelo in defense, Guti, Gago, Sneijder, Van Der Vaart and Drenthe in midfield, while Higuain in attack.

Frankly, I was surprised to see Rau'l on the bench. I thought that Schuster would still stick with him, but it seems that the German trainer had read one of my articles and understood that Rau'l should be benched.

I liked how the team played. The midfield was just one piece. Guti, Sneijder, Van Der Vaart and Drenthe all played well. I really liked Drenthe. He is improving, he just needs to practice more. His crosses are still not perfect.

Gago was the only player I didn't like. Yes, I have never been a big fan of him, but that has nothing to do with tonight's match. He wasn't awful, but Diarra would have done a better job.

Once again Higuain proved that he is a world-class player. Just three minutes after Eliseu scored for Malaga, he equalized.

He did that again in the 37th minute when Real were 2-1 down. That, however, was from the penalty spot. To say the truth, I'm not sure if that was a legitimate penalty.

So after Ramos was sent off, we were 2-2 and in the second half, Schuster sent in Salgado to replace Sneijder who was having a good game. I thought he had better replaced Gago instead who cost us a penalty in the 70th minute from which Antonio Apono scored his team's third to put them ahead again.

But, nobody but Higuain, just one minute later, Gonzalo scored a fantastic goal from outside the box. It was a phenomenal moment and that goal revived the team and the whole stadium.

Javier Saviola came in early this time and replaced Drenthe. Just five minutes after Saviola came in, Real were awarded a penalty that Higuain took and scored from rebound. 4-3, Real in advantage for the first time in the match.

Now Schuster was thinking correctly as he sent in Diarra for Van Der Vaart. Diarra made sure that the midfield stayed strong and helped Gago a bit.

All in all, it was a thrilling game. In my preview, I said that Real players would have to give 200% and they did so tonight not all of them of course. We need to improve our defense. We need to stop making the same mistakes over and over again, and Schuster needs to think objectively.

We are the leaders now. That depends on Barcelona who are playing Valladolid. If they lose, we will stay leaders.

Thats about it. What did you think of the game, Madridistas?

Hala Madrid!

I am proud of Higuain. I have faith in the younger ones all the time and he showed me why. Raul should start getting accustommed to his role tonight. Higuain and Saviola play well together. Hope Schitster sees that and uses them together more often now. Our defense stinks! PERIOD!
I mentioned before that it was difficult to predict games now and again that was proven tonight. IMO, real looked second best for most of the game. I predicted a draw and we were looking so most of the time but the youth really showed us tonight. If our defenders :::cough heinze cough::::: didn't mess up, the scoreline would've looked so much more attractive.

The result is not the real picture! If only young Sergio has not made that stupid move!He is still like a kidd, but he has so much potential,he will improve!
A bigger profit is that we now have a real power in one man who can take the responsibility in the most critical momments!
Gonzalo Higuain is a true power! =D
We needed to win something like this, coming back from a hell,so I believe that our defence players finally got a reason to start to defend our net!

That is what I`m talking about. Higuain should play more often. It was a hard match. We did not play well, but at the end we won.

I agree...but could it have been that we didn't have a holding defensive midfielder? And that could have been the reason for the weak defence....the lack of equilibrium in the team

lets count how many mistakes schuster made.
1. starting heinze. shitty defending. when will schuster learn he is not a CB.
2. starting a defensive lineup.
3. taking out sneijder after have time and leaving in guti.

So he decides to play a attacking line up against juventus one of the top teams in europe and play a defensive lineup against malaga which by the way got smashed last week at home against barca and we barely won at home today. yes the ref did make sum mistakes but he was a minimal part in the goals scored on us. Supporting Schuster is supporting mediocrity.

Higauin is a forward we still need that creative midfielder/winger who can change a game by himself the Messi The Kaka The CR7 of today, The Zidane The Maradona of yesteryears,, Sometimes it's hard for a forward to do that because they are positioned so deep...Look on the previous winners of the CL Liverpool "Gerard", AC Millian Kaka, Man U "CR7", Barca "Ronaldhino", And even Real Madrid Zidane,, but sometimes a coach can get the most out of a player or his players with motivation,, i am not sure that's the case with schuster...I think Higauin motivated himself tonight and also his teamates...As i said a thousand times now the injury helped schuster,,, if we didn't have the injury to Ruud i think Schuster would start Raul and Ruud tonight and we would have lost....I am not a coach but even a blind man can see that Real has a BLACK HOLE in the defence, that needs to be sorted out i hope January in the transfer market Real buy some Quality defenders who can slide tackle not bump a player off the ball [GAGO].. That's the only answer for Real defence..Also Adam had stated in previous post that Real has players who can be world class and i now really agreed look on how Higuain performed.. If Vandervaart or Sneidjer was at another club they would be the stars there... I think the problem is Schuster he lacks motivation,, just as how the previous Tottenham coach [Ramos] had lacked motivation also... But if Real not sacking Schuster they should get a player in midfield who can create his own motivation

Actually, Gomez is quality. He is one of the top stars in the Bundesliga. That is why Real want him. He is an up and coming star. So is Patrick Helmes. I heard a rumor somewhere saying that they want Helmes as well. Anyway, back to Gomez....he was one of the top scores last season as well. He almost caught up to Luca Toni. It was really close. Only thing that made it bad for him was his Euro 2008. He sucked at the Euros. I will give you that. But, how many VfB matches have you watched? I bet only one or 2... You need to watch a whole season to understand how good he is. I bet that you have only seen him play for Germany... Watch him play for VfB. Actually, just this week, he scored a brace in the UEFA Cup match they played. I think that Madrid should go for him. Bayern want him as well. He would be a nice addition for Real.

Also, according to reports out of Lyon, any team that wants Karim have to have AT LEAST 100 million euros. He is a prized asset to Lyon. Plus, if the reports out of the UK are correct, Man United are willing to give them a key player for Karim. Some are saying Ronaldo, Vidic, or even Rio. Lyon could not pass up some much needed help with Juninho getting ready to retire.

I understand what you mean by a creative midfielder who can change games = Zidane. I think we have got two of this type - Sneijder and Van Der Vaart.

Both of them are highly talented players. The only thing they need is consistency. I do believe in them and I think it is pretty hard right now to find players like them.

I think Higuain saved Schuster's ass of being fired,he was The Guardian Angel of Schuster yesterday =D ,we played well but not to well if we want to win El Clasico,La Liga and CL,also i think our weakpoint this season is the defence especially Heinze and Casillas,i dont know what the hell is wrong about these two i mean Casillas last season was the best goalie in the world while this season mistake after mistake every single match,Schuster has to solve this problem and FAST! :|

This is one of the craziest games I have ever seen. I'm gonna be honest we should have lost this one. The ref gave us a lucky break. Heinze is crap. Gago should be coming on a sub. He was injured for a long time and I feel he is still not 100%. Saviola should have played for Guti. Schuster again surprises me with his decision to take off Sneijder. I dont know about Schuster and Pedja but we definitely need to shop around this winter especially for our back line. Congrats to Higuain he will get a call up soon enough from Diego.

Benzema is good but he is not a main striker he is more of a Henry type of player. We need a Luca Toni a true number 9 now that Ruud is injured. Adam what do you think about Ryan Babel? He seems pretty good and he can play on the left. Rafa Benitez barely uses him now that he has Riera. I think he may be a possible candidate for a Winger.

I agree that mario gomes is crap....he may have done well in the german bundensliga but failed miserably when it really mattered (Euros) a true number 9 would be ideal but yet how many really good number 9 are there?I think we should get Sweinstiger....he is coming off contract so we'd get him at a really bargain price in January for sure.He is still young, very good and can play on the wing. However my ideal candiate for a winger will have to be De Maria (who will NOT be transferred before the end of the season)

the game was good, Malaga fought bravely, and we showed some great determination, Heinze always sucked when he became a CB, so schuster should start to look to Metz, or could he take Garay in this January? we clearly need a back-up for Pepe and Canna, Guti is the best man in the midfield, his pass is simply unpredictable, If schuster give him enough rest, he will become one of our key player this season, and then, the man of the match, Higuain. For those who's asking for a superstar who can change the game, this man is the answer, if you see how he scored the third goal. he is surely the future of Madrid. Oh yeah, about casillas, i really hope he wants to fly to catch the ball, since i never saw him do that in the last two games, and after he flies again, it is no doubt that we will have better and easier game, HALA MADRID!!

Yes to replace Nistelrooy we need a Luca Toni type. Maybe Huantelaar? It is pretty hard to find someone as good as Van Goal.

Oh Babel. He is a very good player. I think he'd fit very well into the team, but do you think that Liverpool will sell him? And even so, will they let him go for cheap?

The decision of taking off Sneijder was a pretty difficult one. Ramos was sent off and he needed to cover his place. I'm sure he had thought of taking Gago off but he probably feared that we won't be able to recover balls (actually with Gago, we still sucked at that) so he replaced Sneijder instead. If I were him, I would have taken Drenthe off and played Sneijder on the wing.

I wouldn't blame Casillas, but yes he has made a few mistakes recently most notably against Juventus the other day. However. one thing that is contributing to his bad form is our defense. Mistakes from players like Heinze have probed costly and Casillas couldn't and wouldn't do something about it.

As far as backups are concerned, yes we either need to sell Heinze or Metz and bring in a quality center-back. We also need to get Garay back and see how it goes.

I know that Karim wants to leave, but do you honestly think that we can get him with all of the drama going on here with the coach and the front office? I am just saying... He said recently that he would like to go to Barcelona but reports coming out in the last 24 hours are saying that Juve are ahead in buying the player. Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Milan are all in the race as well. I guess that according to numerous reports coming out of Italy, Juve are going to give Lyon David Trezeguet and a very large amount of money. I guess that Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is a very big fan of David and he will accept terms for the fact that he would be getting David. Hmmm...interesting. Agreed. It is not a good idea to sell more than two players at once. We need to fix the stitches in the team one by one. And the one I think should be taken care of is Heinze's place.

Hmm. I have no idea. You cant trust any transfer news until it actually happens. Maybe Real can get someone like Kranjcar. He is fuckin awesome!! He just came back from injury. The first game he he played after coming back, he scored. Awesome!! :)

Have never heard of him. You know a lot of players already, I'm green with envy =D

Niko Kranjcar is a great player, numero 10,a brain-player,still young enough! But Portsmouth is not RealMadrid!Maybee we should think about him!And another Croat is very good,Olich Ivica from HSV,he is a true madridista-player,also young enough, forward, scores very often!!But Real is a different level, what to say!I would become crazy if they could be able to play in Real succesfully!!Davor Suker was a prove that Croats are good for Real, veeery good! =D

f we'd get an attacker I'd definatly go for someone nobody has mentioned in the forum so far.Former Real Madrid....NEgredo....he is VERY young and we can get him back with a low price...what do you think?

Why did we sell him in the first place? We sold him because he wasn't a class striker. Sure he is talented, but we need someone who is already a world-class striker not one looking to be.

why do we need a world class striker? We already have Ruud and Higuain...we need someone who is looking to be...just like higuain was when we first got him.

Now Ruud is injured and we are looking for a world-class striker, someone who could play in the Champions League, you see..

2 months means that when the transfer window re-opens...he'll be back....but even if he's not...there is Raul,Saviola and Higuain.Raul is super in the champions league

I must leave a comment on Diarra. I'm Real Madrid fan for 10 years and never seen that kind of junkie play at the end from diarra. from 85 minute he went 5 times to cornerflag, like i'm watching arsenal or some shitty english bottom table club. that's shamefull, real is going into cornerflag from who, from MALAGA. i hope it never happens again, this is first time i saw this from real madrid player.

Did you forget about Angel Di Maria,he was a real Madrid target, and I think he is still a player that Real Madrid should go for. Joao Moutinho is a great midfilder to, and one of the great Portugal players, we should try to buy him. :o

Di maria would be ideal...however we don't need moutinho...he plays in the center...we already have VDV,De La Red,Guti and Sneijder.I've heard that they've opened talks with Ajax and Zenit to discuss the transfers of Arshavin and Huntelaar :D

Di Maria and Huntelaar. Di Maria had a good olympic campaign and we have a good relationship with Benfica. They might lower their asking price of 30mil or 25mil. Huntelaar whould be a natural replacement for Ruud. He is good in the air and is a fox in the box type of striker. I think we can snag him for less than 20mil.
