I have always criticized Schuster for over-using Rau'l while there were people like Saviola and Higuain who were able to perform better. Don't understand me wrong, Rau'l is undeniably one of the greatest players in Spain ever, but in the last few years, his form, has dropped dramatically
Well, to backup my criticism, here he is, Higuain who scored two goals last night as Real smashed Sporting Lisboa 5-3 and won the Santiago Bernabeu trophy. He also scored against Valencia, and had a good season last season, so now Schuster has no excuse and should depend on this kid instead.
Arjen Robben also continued his fine form and scored, Rau'l scored from a penalty and Rafael Van Der Vaart who is going to miss the league opener against Deportivo scored his second goal I guess in the white jersey.
I didn't watch the match because my little brothers conquered the room and kicked me out. To solve this annoying problem (that is not being able to watch Real games) I'm going to buy another TV and just move elsewhere, I'm going to move to another apartment. The awesome thing is that I would be able to do things that I couldn't do with the family around (evil, huh?) and I would be able to watch Real Madrid games and work on RealmadridTalk comfortably. Anyway, thats kinda besides the point.
The point is that we won two trophies so far. However, I don't regard the Bernabeu trophy as a REAL trophy, so I would say we have actually just won one trophy. However, the most important thing for me, though, is that we played brilliantly in both matches. Against Valencia, the team proved that they can heroically come back and win even with 9 men on the pitch. Against Sporting Lispona, we also proved that we have a talented squad and that we shouldn't depend on a particular player and in this case Rau'l in the front (I know I have been Anti-Raul, lately)
I'm glad that Cannavaro is back. We really missed him so did Italy in the Euro. He just receives tongs of criticism everyday in Spain but he is professional and always responds on the pitch.
Uhm, as transfers are concerned, we have lost Villa and Carzola yesterday as they renewed their contracts with their respective clubs. I hear that we are still going after Werder Bremen's Diego, Huentelar and Capel.
Hopefully we will sign a quality player because Robinho's departure to Chelsea, means that we need a replacement.
Alright, thats about it for today. I'm now going to work on the little project I posted about yesterday. If you haven't already read that post, please do that now and any help would be appreciated.
P.S: The draw for the 08-09 Champions League group stages will take place today in Monaco to pick groups at random. I will report on that later and lets hope we will be in an easy group :)
Hala Madrid!
Good analysis. I missed the game as it was not covered here in the states. Higuain has proven himself and now it is up to Schuster whether to play him or not. We have not won a Depor for a number of years now but it looks like it's about to end. Im still not sure about our next signing. It's a shame that we could not tempt Cazorla but I think the next best would have to be Capel. Diego would not fit and we would play him out of position. I wish we could bring Quaresma but Inter and Mourinho seem bent on signing him. Over all we have a complet squad. Looks like I missed out on good game.
Real Madrid, Juventus, Zenit, BATE Burisov, what a chance to prove what we're made of and to finally show Roma fans we can kick their butts! 2 weeks from now when we go head-to-head with Juve, i'm looking forward to us giving these damn Italians a little payback, to Juve for eliminating us back in 2004 and to Roma by beating a fellow Italian in a stylish manner. Hala Madrid!

I think this may be a good draw for us. Juve has not had the best pre-season and many of their key players are injured. I'm not saying this will be easy we still have to look out for Trezeguet, Del Piero, and Amauri. I'm quite confident we will qualify to the knock-out stage.
Higuain ,seems to me, is a player for the crucial matches!
Mallorca at BERNABEU last season, now Valencia!
Seems that he has those nerves!
And this our CL group, shouldn,t be a problem,ha?!
But,not underestimating anyone,Juve is the only rival!
First place for sure
